  1. Started using about a week ago, was happy at first. I’m not sure exactly how it teacks different stages of sleep, but the rest of the info was nice to see and did fall asleep faster, however after only 3 nights it seemed to glitch and not actually record my sleep even when it says it was tracking. Also won’t let me go back to the previous week when I know it had shown a recording. So all its good for is the sound, which I can use Calm for.

  2. I’ve used the app every night for the past year and I don’t think I can live without it. The layering of your desired sleep sound (I like the ambient green noise) with a sleep story/meditation plus the ability to play the sound indefinitely is a great feature. I can fall asleep to a story and there’s no disruption to my sleep when it ends as the consistent ambient noise continues. For me, this combination has been the key to getting consistently great sleep.

  3. Weirdly excited about bedtime. I’m on night two of the 7 day trial period. BetterSleep’s expansive menu is not only visually appealing, but also layered with beautiful tones to suit one’s desired effect. The app is pricey but depending on what you value most it can definitely be considered an investment.

Same issue as Jonathan. I love the app when it’s time for sleep, the stories are awesome and help me fall asleep quickly and completely. The issue is the constant notification bar that is present at all times and can’t be swiped away or force stopped. Once this is resolved, I’ll gladly change my rating to 5 stars

I purposefully waited a couole weeks before eating this app. Best sleep app I’ve used so far. And I’ve tried many, many apps due to insomnia. Some of the sleep meditations are corny imo, but it’s not like I have to listen to them. I do love the military one for sleep and the fact sleep sounds can play in the background. As someone with tinnitus, this is imperative to sleep. Premium wasn’t too bad for a yearly subscription and if this keeps being amazing, I’ll definitely be resubbing.

  6. I used to use this app nightly a few years ago and recently downloaded it. What I loved about it before was even though some options were locked, there were a lot of sounds for free to pick from. Disappointed to see so many of the sounds now locked unless you have premium. Furthermore, when you try and look for the free sounds, they’re hard to find since they’re mixed up with the majority locked ones. $40 annual fee is expensive.

  7. What happened to the music selection? It has changed significantly. I miss the options for jazz music. I have the premium version and my favorites have almost all disappeared. I was excited to choose my favorite story soundtrack only to find it gone. Nowhere to be found. So disappointing. I’m going to set a reminder on my phone to not renew the premium version. There have been too many unfavorable changes recently.

  8. I’ve only done the trial period, but I have loved every day of using this app. The stories I think are amazing or at least the first few minutes I hear before drifting off to sleep. The recordings option is super cool. I like that I can see how much my two year old coughed etc over night. And the instant sleep score when you’re done in the morning is super insightful. I will definitely consider a longer subscription.

The sounds mix and layering are solid. The ux of the app is engaging. The major fault is the sounds- every sound uses an interval low then peak. You catch on to this rhythm and the peak sound becomes annoying or worse, prevents sleep. This is quite obvious and can be easily fixed yet, it’s not. Just buy a 10$ white noise machine and save the subscription money.

  10. Update: evidently the phone i was using was having more problems than originally thought. Since getting a brand new phone of yhe same model i havent had any issues with the app. I have been using this app for years without any problems until these last few updates. It crashes my phone, forcing me to force restart, refuses to play through my BT speaker, and skips constantly until it just stops playing all together. Until this is fixed i will have to find another app to help me sleep.

  11. I love the variety of sleep resources right at my fingertips. Everything I need from sounds to brain wave frequencies to movements and mediations. I’m so happy I took advantage of the holiday sale so that I can enjoy every aspect of this wonderful app. It has truly given me better sleep and I would recommend it 100%. Even the free version which I was using for at least a yr is great. Thank you so much for this valuable resource. I enjoy it so much!!!!🤗

  12. Honestly, this app is everything I need it to be. I use it to help me sleep and to meditate when I’ve had a bit of a day. Sometimes, I just turn on the music for background noise while I’m reading a book or doing household chores and such. The quantity and quality of stories/meditations/musics/ambient sounds available through this app make it an invaluable part of my everyday life.

  13. I’ve been using this app for a couple of years, and have loved it, but a new bug now no longer allows the app to be closed. The app remains in the notification tray when you exit, and any attempt to swipe close it causes it to stutter, will not close, then returns. If you force close it, it will launch again on its own, which is unacceptable for an app that’s a sleep app. There’s no reason it needs to relaunch itself or remain in the background. Use Calm or another app instead.

  14. Does not have that many programs considering the subscription price. The sleep recording mode does not work well at all. There are times I woke up taking or yelling and the app only records the quietest of snoring and the sound of rolling over, but no dogs barking, stuff falling over, talking, yelling, etc. The search and filter options are lacking as well.

  15. I have loved this app so much I got the premium option. I use it often and have found the stories are wonderful and relaxing, until… now they are freezing. I start a story, get comfortable. I’m almost asleep and it freezes. I’ve started using another app just to play music. I miss my underwater city!!

It’s unfortunate that this company decided to be extremely greedy and changed it to a subscription based service. Luckily I bought the original apps years ago on my iPad. The sleep sounds are what attracted me to the app a long time ago but now it’s just completely different. It’s possible for you but the subscription is what turns me off.

  17. I purchased the premium version and set for no notifications yet it continues to pop up notifications. Also it was playing sounds when the app was closed. I had to shut my phone down to stop it. Otherwise app does what it promises. I would like to save information from week to week rather than starting over.

  18. I am a premium user and I have had this app for years on my phone and tablets. I love the upgrades! The stories I have only listened to maybe one all the way through, otherwise I’m asleep nearly right away. My only suggestion would be the chant music should be a longer loop because it is very evident when it starts over.

  19. Many sounds and meditations- I’ve used this app for many years. It’s helped me sleep when sleeping was the hardest thing for me to do. Thank you for making this app! Update: the app just keeps on improving and it has been helping me sleep for a very long time now. Many, many years. I recommended this to people who have sleep issues, relaxation troubles, etc.

  20. Kenya dice:

Better Sleep has helped me fall asleep faster but I am still having a problem staying asleep. Maybe I’ll figure out the app better in time and make some adjustments. But the app is awesome with features like making your own sleep mixes using different comfort sounds and noises like white, pink, brown, green noises etc.

  21. I’ve not seen this in any other app (yet), but it has a massive sound library for creating white noise “mixes”. The sounds are of decent quality as well. Odds are, any kind of scenario you can imagine that you find to be relaxing, you can use their sounds, combine them, fine tune each one’s volume, and create a mix for it. That alone is pretty awesome.

  22. Disappointed in this app. I’ve used it every night for a very long time. I’ve had 1 music and 5 sounds selected and everything was fine up until tonight. Loaded the app up and my mix was only set to 3 sounds. I can’t load old saved mixes and the music I was using is now no where to be found, except for in a premium Playlist (where it was free to use before). It’s a decent app and has helped me fall asleep so many times, but it’s starting to be annoying how much is locked behind subscritions.

  23. Antonia dice:

I’ve used this app off and on for many years now as a sound machine, back when it was just Sleep Sounds. It has some great guided meditations now that I have been excited to explore, but it’s vast library of relaxing sound, and the ability to string them together into a custom combination, is what really sets it apart.

  24. Mario C dice:

This app is actually amazing. I immediately canceled the subscription upon downloading so I was not automatically charged and after 2 days of using the trial I decided to keep the subscription because the app actually helps alot and for so many different things, ranging from anxiety to sleep, mood balancing and more! The meditations are my absolute favorite and has helped me with sleep and anxiety. All you have to do is listen, breathe and follow what they say. Definitely recommend.

  25. Kel Kel dice:

*Updated review: support finally resolved issue after I gave up and cancelled/uninstalled. Happy I’m able to keep my favorite sleep app with premium options without paying for it again. Prior review: So disappointed in leaving a poor review because this is a wonderful app unless you have issues with a premium subscription you’ve paid for and can’t access. The password reset button does nothing. Support is very friendly and says the right things but hadn’t resolved the issue.

  26. This app used to be amazing. You got a lot of sounds, for free, could make a decent mix, and it was super helpful for me. Then they added on paid things, but now there is such a limited selection unless you pay that I feel, betrayed? Why take things away that have been free for years? And on top of that, the free stuff doesn’t work well, there’s an odd buzzing noise that happens with some of the sounds. Shouldn’t be an issue if youre charging for 99% of the app. Another greedy garbage app.

  27. Mirrani dice:

I have been with this app since the beginning and use it every night. I absolutely love it. It helps me unwind, helps relieve stress, and has so many other options. I am always trying to get people I know to use it. The only things I would say need improving are the ability to reset the background music to the original if you customize it, and the ability to edit your playlist order without having to delete things and search for them again.

  28. I download this app every single time I upgrade my phone. It’s absolutely my first sleep noise choice. The one downside is the reoccurring updates where previously free sounds (like purring) are now premium. I was definitely disappointed by that. But the sound mixes relax me right away, help me fall asleep, and nearly instantly put me back to sleep if I wake up in the middle of the night. I also love the bedtime stories! The highland giants was very sweet, but now also locked…

  29. Jess Moul dice:

This used to be a great app. I had great sound mixes that helped me with my sleep problems. But now, if you don’t pay for the full version, you are reduced to 3-4 sounds and none of them are worth the time. $60 for an app is ridiculous when there are several others that are free for the same thing, and they have the choices this app used to offer. Useless, and disappointed.

  30. Beckie dice:

There’s no search function and a recent update made it all but impossible to navigate. The app has been crashing in a way that stops the audio but keeps the background, or abruptly stops playing jolting me awake. It’s impossible to find a progressive muscle relaxation meditation, and that’s the one I used to use most often.

  31. Godd sleep app. The only thing that isn’t good is I’m paying for the additional sounds but then they added more sound that are locked. So I’m assuming they want another pay which I won’t do and now I’ll drop what I was going to pay and stay with the basics. Also when you set the timer be aware that when the times stops it drops your phone volume down. I use my phone at my alarm clock and I over slept because my volume was all the way down when all night I have it all the way up.

  32. Used to be good when more of the sounds you had access to for free. I just don’t understand paying $40 a year for a subscription! If it was a one time fee, I might considered it. But 39.99 a year!? I’ve had the app on my phone for a while but don’t use it much anymore because more of the sounds are now considered “premium” so they want you to upgrade to have access to them. The benefit of what’s being provided just doesn’t outweigh the cost. It’s unfortunate, I used to really like this app

  33. Updated from 2020: I’ve been using this app for a few years with great results. I’m an insomniac and a light sleeper when I manage sleep so my favorite sound (vacuum!) is the perfect way for me to mask the quiet that keeps me awake. I only wish you could sample the Pro sounds, otherwise, how do you know if there’s a sound you can’t live without? New sounds added frequently but most are no longer free.

  34. To the developers… I would add the fifth star if you could add a button that would allow the “stories” to either cascade or play in a loop!!! Sometimes I wake to go to the bathroom and when I come back, I need to stop the recording, restart the story I was listening to, then restart “tracking” my sleep. By allowing the stories to play in a loop, or to allow me to choose a list of stories that would last most of the night, I believe other users as well as me would derive even more benefits!!!

  35. I have not seen any ads yet and I’ve been using the app for a couple of weeks. The combination of sounds I’ve come up with really do help me sleep. The app offers suggestions, some for children, but you really have to test all the sounds and find what works for you. I haven’t used the sleep tracker much yet, but everything on the app looks very useful. I think it’s just a matter of finding what’s best for you on the whole app. There’s enough different approaches to sleep therapy for everyone.

  36. This is the best sleep meditation app I have tried. My big complaint about head space is the meditations are too short and there was no way to play music after. In this app not only can you play music after the meditation but it weaves what ever you want through the meditation too. You can even create your own sound mixes by layering different white noise, melodies, even “brain wave frequencies” and mix it to your liking. Plus there are a ton of meditations to choose from. Some are 60min+

  37. And so I write this, changing my tune as BetterSleeps’ support came through big restoring my service to the songs I had been used for years and how I get to continue to sleep in comfort with my relaxing tunes. I have used this app for over 10 years or since I found it on an app store and there is no other app that compares, especially in terms of crafting a playlist of sounds to sleep to; and I don’t joke, I’ve searched and tried many. I highly recommend the app and they have great support!

  38. Amazing, with a catch. You see, I’ve downloaded this app before on a different device, and we were given WAY more sounds for free. As much as this helps me, it is a shame we’ve lost so much free content. Especially considering the subscription is considerably expensive.

  39. Dexx O dice:

It’s pretty awesome, lot of different noises and sounds you can combine to create a “scene” you find most relaxing. I like the sleep tracking, am not sure how it’s tracking the rating of your sleep though. I know the mic is on, but how does it differentiate deep and light sleep? Hmmm, either way, pretty sweet stuff. 💯

  40. Br Uh dice:

Nice app! Got a good 8 hour sleep out of this at one point. Should definitely try regardless of how sleepy you are. Few suggestione: .1. Although the app is designed to help you sleep better. I think it might be better for the consumers if the app tried blocking off reasons why they might not get sleep(for example, promote a digital detox related activity so that the blue light filter does not alter thier sleeping cycle) 2. It would be better if the sleep tracker had just it’s own button.
