  1. Every single time I open it it doesn’t load. have to open it, close it, then open it again. And if it does load it doesn’t load the schedule on the first screen. Then I have to go in and click a random tab then switch back to the schedule. Had this app for like 8 or 9 years. Just like every other app on the market. Every time they update it ,it gets worse. Update November 2022* also have to deal with an update every four days too apparently.

  2. I loved it in the beginning. My favorite part of the app was using the widget. It worked flawlessly, but within the last couple of weeks, it just won’t update the widget to show my next shift. I’ve done all troubleshooting steps. Im curious how easy it is for management to use, clearly employees can’t stand it and I know why. I rely on the widget a lot being a busy person. Hate that l spent money on this, 3 dollars may not be a lot, but it would be nice to have it work, it’s how I make money.

  3. This app sucks, slow as f. It needs a lot improvement, for example able to combine 2 jobs without logging in and out every time. Being able to message staff who is not working or working that specif day, without sending a message to everyone, I know you can select a person but not a group of people. Also would be nice to see who released a shift when you are working so perhaps you can offer a swap. Right now you only see it when you are off. Please put more effort to it, much appreciated!

  4. The app used to be great, but now it’s hot trash. It’s convenient. But that’s only when I can get the app to open. Most of the time I wait and wait for the app to open from anywhere between 5-10 minutes. The rest of time it won’t open at all. I try restarting my phone, switching from wifi etc. It’s frustrating and is faster to login from a web browser. All in all, don’t waste your money on the app when you can work faster on a browser, even if you choose to use ye old Internet Explorer.

  5. Good when it works. WHEN it works. This thing crashes more than a demolition derby car, until it just dies. Uninstalling and reinstalling the app works about as well as cursing at the phone. I suppose, if you’re a gambler, $3 isn’t a huge loss, but don’t expect this app to help you keep track of that work schedule, you know, the very thing you need in order to have money to waste on apps that cause you to drink!

  6. Overall, the app is pretty solid. It’s fairly intuitive and has a user friendly UI. Up until recently, I had never encountered any problems with the application. Idk if it was a change in software or some kind of user defined setting, but for over a month now, I have been unable to see a certain few of my co-workers listed anywhere within the app. None of them have been terminated. In fact, there are numerous members of the staff that ARE gone, but I can still see THEIR names…..please fix!!!

  7. The app doesn’t load my schedule half the time. It seems like every other time I open the app I have to relog into the app. When it does load my schedule, it takes literally 2 minutes for it to load. There is no way to opt out of email notifications in the app, the only way is to open an email from HotSchedules and opt out of emails through that. The website isn’t much better, it will not keep you logged in at all, and the interface is far more confusing.

  8. I’ve used this many times a day for almost 7 years. It has consistently been updated to have many features. My ONLY reason 4 stars is because there seems to be an issue with text input. No auto capitalize and input seems to be buggy. This has been a consistent problem over the years across many devices(currently Huawei Honor 7x). It’s easy to over look, I’m just being a bit nitpicky.

  9. Interface is pretty standard but clear and easy to read. It syncs up well with Google Calenders, and I’m notified immediately of any schedule changes or availabilities. Finding the page that shows you who works with you and when on any particular day isn’t at all clear, as I only learned where to find it several months into my job from one of my coworkers. On the desktop version, I noticed there’s an option to insert a preferred name, but nowhere does it actually display my preferred name.

  10. I’ve had this app for a long time, but I’ve never had so much difficulty using it since recent months. The app constantly logs me out and when I try to log back in it says error, once you have successfully put in your credentials it gets stuck on buffering and doesn’t allow you to fully enter the app. If anything, the bugs the creators have claimed to fix has made it worse.

  11. This app has become absolute trash and a waste of money. I have to go online now to get my schedule. It crashes constantly or never loads. I have deleted and reinstalled the app multiple times. It is a nightmare to use! I loved hotschedules in the beginning. You could see everyones schedule online and it was great. Even the internet version is worse now. Please go back to what you were before.

This app has been very buggy for a year now, every time I open it up and I’m greeted by a loading screen covering the actual login, so I have to guess where the actual login button is all the time. I don’t know if it’s a compatibility issue but this has been going on for too long. Luckily it sends my schedule to my Google Calendar. I’ve reinstalled, cleared cache and pretty much exhausted all troubleshooting.

  13. Doesn’t open half the time. Filters for my rosters don’t save (Even though it did BEFORE the update). Different tabs don’t open unless you restart the app, and even THAT works half the time. All of this happens WHILE ON WIFI by the way. I’m not going to cry over spending $3-$4 on an app, but if you’re going to charge people to use an app, make sure it works. You’re better off using the web browser.

  14. Ive been using hotscheadules for my job for almost 3 years because it’s the only option my work offers and it’s required. It’s always been spotty on loading and really slow. But the last couple months I can barely use it. IF i can logon to the app, it takes forever to load the schedule, and 90% of the time I can’t see who else is working the shift with me. When i tried the online version there isn’t a spot that even shows other people scheduled. I wish my company used a different app!!!

  15. This app is annoying. First, they make you pay for it, even though it is essential for work. Secondly, it takes a lot of time to load your schedule, and that’s if it even let’s you log in. Thirdly, it randomly logs you out, and when you try to log in, an error screen occurs. It gives you no solutions, or even a report button.

  16. So the app has never been great, it was more ease of access over visiting the mobile site or logging into my pc. The app has had a steady decline of it’s ability to function properly, first with only minor connectivity issues, or long load times. However, the app now all but ceases to function entirely. 404 errors, unable to log in, 2+ minute load times on wifi just to get to see your work schedule, most messages don’t send or send twice. Switching between any section is bound to freeze the app.

  17. Terrible app. Its slow to load, it takes forever to load ANYTHING. Its design is outdated and its hard to do anything basic, even login. Highly recommend just using the mobile websjte instead of paying $3 for this horrible app. Update late 2019: The app is still slow, but is now functional. UI and layout isn’t great, but again, it allows you to do basic things like seeing your schedule, messaging, and swapping shifts.

  18. 9/27 edit: Bug fixed!! Thanks a ton! Rating changed from 2 to 5 stars. Just like so many others, I’m on an Android device, and I’m unable to see which of my teammates I’ll be working with. This is immensely frustrating, as it is a recent development. I would really appreciate at least some sort of acknowledgement of thos issue and reassurance that it’s being addressed.

  19. I’ve seen free Russian hackware work more efficiently than this paid for service. This app is riddled with glitches; from the moment you open it with an immediate “log in error” pop up, to extremely slow connection speeds (even on wifi or 5g). After logging in, it takes forever to populate with the schedules, and when it does it takes just as long to look deeper into the shift. This would be acceptable if the app were free but since it isn’t, this is pretty unacceptable.

  20. Needs to notify when there’s an available shift. It’s very odd that there is no option to notify when you can pick up an extra shift. I actually enjoy this app. It’s very user friendly while connecting easily and smoothly with other apps, and any issues I had at the beginning with logging in were fixed.

  21. By far the worst app on my phone. It quit sending me emails long time ago, whatever. When I upgraded to a new phone, was the only app that didn’t transfer. Called customer support, they told me it’s my app store. Guess it’s the app store for all the other people with the same problem. Wouldn’t buy it again if they didn’t ‘update’ their website – for the worst. Also you can’t see who else is working a certain shift, no it’s not just me. And since the last update it gives me an error message 🤷‍♀️

  22. I hate this app. The website is pretty good so I assumed the app must be better. It is instead absolutely terrible. It takes forever to load and that’s if you’re lucky enough for it to load. The website has many features the app doesn’t have like specifying what position you want to pick up during auto pick up. Many times I have auto pick up on and have to log into the app later to find out a shift got released and it didn’t “auto” pick up. Use the website, don’t waste time with the app.

I’ve used this app for years at various jobs with average levels of success, but now all of a sudden I’m getting the same message that won’t even let me open the app saying my credentials are wrong and I need to update the app. Unfortunately I’ve updated it, Uninstalled and reinstalled it twice, and rebooted my phone and I’m still getting that message!

  24. I love the app…when it works. I have sprint and I dont know if it’s the service or the app itself but this is the only app that doesnt really work with my phone for some dumb reason. It will never log in and just sits and will keep loading half of the time. Then they also need to make it to where you can mass delete items in your messages. I work at a restaurant with lots of people and I get alot of messages that dont pertain to me and need to delete a bunch at once. Please fix this problem!

  25. I’ve had so many problems with this app it is ridiculous. Whenever I first downloaded it, It wouldnt let me create an account and I had to have my manager do it for me on the computer. Then, I was never getting notifications for when my schedule was posted or I got messages. Most recently, I cant open the app at all because it crashes every time I try to do anything. This is really frustrating because I NEED this app to work for the sake of my job. Fix it!

I like being able to pick up and release shifts on HotSchedules, but i absolutely hate how it never shows my cut times. iPhone users have the ability to view what time theyre supposed to get off work, which helps a lot with shift planning, but android users dont have the same functionality. if that were fixed, this would probably be the most useful app on my phone, because I’m never switching over to Apple products.

  27. If it was free it would be fine but when forced to pay $2.99 from your minimum wage job to use this, it is complete junk. Doesn’t have same features as iOS app, constantly fails to login, constant exceptions thrown so have to always restart to see your schedule (even that doesn’t work half the time), no basic sharing, no availability option, no sorting, and the list goes on. Amature at best. If there were another option, this app would be defunct. Tech support pleasant but know all these issues.

  28. This app is nice to get your schedule for and see changes but wow it’s horribly buggy. Sometimes it just refuses to open so you can’t see your schedule and restarting the app dosent help. It’ll randomly crash and freeze when trying to send a message. And it never tells you if your schedule gets changed it just changes it. Make this better it’s making work harder

  29. Would give 0 stars if that was an option. Takes forever to load, usually doesn’t end up loading at all. My schedule doesn’t sync with calendar even when that option is turned on. Some functions on the app aren’t available on the desktop version and vice versa. I paid for this app which is crazy considering I need it to look at my work schedule and it barely works. My company pays for HotSchedules so it should be free to employees.

  30. My app worked until the last update…now it just keeps telling me to use the updated version. My phone updates automatically. I even un-installed and re-installed the app. Still says to update app. Update: issue has been corrected. Thank you. I rely on this app for easy access to my schedule and to easily pick up shifts. I also like knowing who I will be working with on any given shift.

    Fast and easy way to check my schedule. I don’t like the option for calendar sync since because ot wants permissions to edit and delete ALL calendars attached to my Google account. Also, more than half the time, I have to use the website anyway since I cannot find any way of seeing the entire schedule for all co-workers. This is easy to do on the website.

  32. Layout is alright. I never leave reviews for anything, but this app is so very buggy I just had to. Most days when I try to log in to view my schedule I get hit with a “login error please try again”. Which wouldn’t be a big deal except for the fact that it happens when I’m trying to pick up shifts. These login bugs have made me miss out on shift opportunities and in turn caused me to lose money. I hate hotschedules and I wish my company would switch to a different app.

  33. I used to love this app when it was working properly. Now they’ve added in rating your shift EVERY day you work, which is pointless because our managers really dont care. And the app now takes forever to load. I work 2 jobs so I have to log out and back in without having the ability to just switch profiles, and it’s a 10 minute process just to load. Fix the bugs hotschedules team!

  34. Updating my review from 1 star to 1 star. Still complete garbage app. Usually takes me 15-20 minutes to open this app. Multiple attempts over and over only to just see an error message or bad gateway message. I hear the same universal issues that have been consistant for years now. I can not wait for some to come along and make something better, sending your download numbers and profits plummeting into nonexistence in the Earths core. Or, you could just actually fix the loading bugs.

  35. Been using this app for a few years. For some reason whenever I use calendar sync on Android it’s an hour later than my actual scheduled time. Like for every shift, even doubles. I’m not late or anything looking for an excuse, just wanted to let you know the problem. I can share screenshots if you want to email me. Thank you

  36. Worst app ever. Sucks I actually need this for work and had to pay for it. So irritated. If you have an android you are better off just utilizing the website from a computer… but obviously that is inconvenient. I’m pretty sure I miss out on picking up extra shifts as it takes me so much longer than my coworkers to get to my computer to pickup the available shift.

  37. My company has been using for 7+ years, as a manager having the app is definitely very helpful & convenient. However this past update no longer allows us to see actual vs theoretical hours for team members only what they originally were scheduled on the roster, a HUGE dissapointment as we relied on that feature daily to track labor. Would also love the option to use the OLD scheduling module that was simplified. Having to scroll up/down constantly is annoying, as a whole harder to view.

  38. I hate this thing so much. Not only does it take 20 minutes to load up, the vast majority of the time it simply wont accept your login info. feel free to get it if you enjoy entering your info 500 times wondering if you’re going insane just for it to randomly let you in finally, freeze up, then give you a massive error report. hate how hotschedules is considered essential for jobs, but at least the desktop version is free. I thought a few bucks for convenience was worth, but no convenience here.

My shedule gets updated on Sunday night, but by then the app has logged itself out so tapping the notification to see my schedule just brings up a blank window with a progress indicator that never goes anywhere. New update asks me to rate my shift 30 minutes after it ends when there is no obvious way to do it. Again, tapping the notification does nothing but bring up my schedule, and there is no “Rate” option on the menu. Better off just using the website and removing the app.

  40. clicking on notifications doesn’t open the app. this is different behavior than every other Android app. when you receive a message you get s notification and an email, the email doesn’t show the message so is redundant and spammy (there doesn’t seem to be an option to disable this) there is no notification when a shift is released which means you have to constantly check the app if you are trying to pick up a shift.
