Overall I’m pretty happy with it, and with adding on the extentions it really becomes an ad block king. There are a few issues I have. 1. Swiping, such as through photos on Google images, requires me to push all the way to the edge of the screen and hold it for a second. This is very inconvenient and it should just be easier to move about. 2. Some sites feel like they’re trying to load as desktop but I’m not in that mode. Is a bit clunky but mostly worth it still.
Recently (since the most recent update), firefox started crashing frequently. It’s never crashed before in all my phone use. When it crashes, I completely lose the tab I had open. I’m not sure if I have too many tabs open, or if it doesn’t like me using duckduckgo as my search engine suddenly, or if it’s another issue; but based on other user reviews this issue is not unique to me.
Decent browser with a confusing UI. The option to “sync and save your data” no longer appears in the main menu, nor under settings. Oddly, I can still send tabs from my laptop to my phone, just not the other way around. The option to “connect another device” in the share menu uselessly tells me “to send a tab, sign in to Firefox on at least one other device,” when I’ve already done so.
I absolutely love Firefox, both for desktop and mobile, i use it every day. The only gripe I have about it is when opening certain web pages, it crashes on my mobile device and happens quite often. I don’t know if it’s a bug or just me, but once the crashes stop happening so frequently, I’ll gladly rate it a 5 star
Autofil has probably been the biggest struggle since switching to Firefox from chrome, both in recognizing fields to auto field and the tedious task of manually importing the PWs. Otherwise, pages appear much cleaner than other mobile browsers and it supports many extensions. More importantly, it recognizes in-browser video playback much better than chrome, and it keeps screen awake appropriately unlike chrome, which is great for school/lectures.
Firefox works! It’s a functional, fully-featured browser that isn’t in the Chromium ecosystem, which is refreshing. ++ for that. I’m tired of having ads forced on me by my browser though. I’d rather pay a monthly subscription fee to support development than have to put up with my browser serving me advertisements and pretending that I’ve bookmarked them.
I normally end up having over 100 tabs open, sometimes several hundred. It used to be able to handle that just fine. I could get pretty close to 1000 before my mobile device even slowed down (testing purposes). Ever since I updated the other day, Firefox has been consistently crashing for me every time I get somewhere between 100-200. I tried to send a crash report but I need to sign up for Bugzilla in order to report a bug?? Hell no. It needs to stop crashing ASAP
For me, FF is still excellent. I don’t really have any complaints. It works beautifully, is faster than the now-bloated Chrome (and more secure) and has slick features that are useful to me like collections. Some complain that videos or media keeps playing after it’s closed but to be honest, i like it. When I’m watching a game but need to use both hands for a moment, or when I’m carrying something upstairs with me, I just lock my phone, slip it in my pocket and open without having to reload. 👍
Firefox has been great on Android and very secure. Features like sync are second to none and really helps you keep all of your devices connected. You can quickly delete your browsing history, and the private browsing feature is better than other browser program available! I’d highly recommend that you switch to Firefox on all of your devices. If you’re afraid of losing important data on your Chrome browser just do it slowly. Keep Chrome until you’re sure that everything you want is in Firefox.
Firefox has massively evolved over all these years. From a true “outcast” type of browser, to one that has started falling in line with the current orthodoxy. Nonetheless I have stuck with Firefox throughout these years out of pleasure in the operation of the application. That part hasn’t changed nearly as much as the other stuff. I can’t stand Chrome, Safari, Opera (is that even still being produced??), Edge, along with lesser known browser products I have tried…
I have used Firefox for years and been very pleased with their responsiveness to changes in the technological landscape. The browser has all the features I require and a few that are nice on those more rare occasions I need to do private browsing or wall off links from social platforms. Any time I can get software that does not have a business model based on selling my data, that’s a win.
For the ability to add extensions alone this is a must have. I do have a problem with page loads hanging before dns resolution, but hitting back and tapping the link again always fixes it. (Edit, a few days later!) While thinking about this, I realized that maybe it was one of my extensions that was causing this issue. I removed the offending extension, and so far everything is working perfectly! This wasn’t a Firefox problem at all, but a uBlock Origin problem. Upgraded to ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐!
This is my default browser on my Android phone and has mostly been excellent. The most recent update, however, has resulted in page-rendering issues. Elements are in the wrong spot, with images covering text at times. Text often extends beyond the screen margins, making it unreadable. I hope this is addressed soon.
Best browser I’ve ever used. I love tab sharing between devices and the ability to scan QR codes from the search box. Bookmarks are an after thought at best which means I can’t rely on them to create a launcher. You can add search engines but they’re not easy to add like the desktop version. Handling passwords outside the browser is a hit and miss and it doesn’t save other info like secret questions.
I love this app, and have been using it on my laptop for more than a decade. I’ve recently disabled the default browser on my phone to use Firefox instead. But here are some suggestions: A black (not just dark) theme seems necessary, especially for OLED screens. Moreover, an option to request dark mode from websites would be very helpful. Furthermore, a translation feature would be the icing on the cake! Keep up the great work!
Once my main browser in all platforms and devices. Now, like it’s windows counterpart, it gets worst with every update. To the point of unusable. I already had a long list of things they’ve ruined. But finally, after updating after months. Where the setting to prevent autoplay went? With today’s websites, it’s an annoyance to try to use it without that feature. And I’m finally done.
Love the browser for a lot of things, but in the last few months, it’s been driving me nuts that every time I switch apps and then back to Firefox, the page refreshes. This often happens with switching tabs within Firefox, though not as consistently. Please dear god it’s awful! I can’t reliably fill out any form, especially accessing my password manager. I don’t want to have to change to another browser.
I recently started using it because Samsung Internet was moving closer and closer to Chrome’s platform. I really liked Firefox at first. Now, with the most recent updates, it seems that Firefox is, too. I’ve cleared cache, restarted my phone, I keep an eye on hoe many windows are open, etc., but is just not working like it used to. Bummer.
It’s another browser. That’s it. Except! – It is not based on chrome, so Google can’t track your data even in private browsing mode. – Firefox accounts exist so you can link history and bookmarks across PC and phones. – You can easily choose your search engine to anything such as Ecosia or DuckDuckGo. – You can also make it your primary Browser for any links you click in texts or emails easily.
Minor bugs … * downloaded an image . The notification is in the browser for the file and just won’t disappear or can’t be swiped away . It covers 15% of the screen where th we search bar is. * The x where the search bar on google is not necessary, but it would help to put the x right in the middle of the search . The ui just looks weird .
Con: The app is still hogging on ur phone memory, even though u put it to deep sleep. This app wont shutdown like other apps. It always crashes because of how it keeps live on ur phone memory. The multiple tabs gesture is useless and inconvenient since I may unintentionally delete the tab. Pro: 😅 it”s a broswer and can install a bit more addons than others.
Was using Firefox Lock Sync for my password manager. Loved it. Was so easy. But Firefox stopped supporting it. And the new password manager is a real pain. It’s difficult to find on Android if you need to look up a password. Doesn’t always trigger, especially for programs on my PC, and doesn’t always sync between devices.
Was the best browser until recent changes in updates. 50% of the time the refresh page button is missing from the menu. Very annoying and a problem every time it’s missing. It should always be there. They’ve incorporated some algorithm that removes it based on what some developers decided was a criteria determining you don’t need it at the moment.
Fix these issues please. YouTube playlists crash/freeze every time one video ends. Forcing you to manually keep the playlist going by refreshing the page or even force closing the whole app and trying again. Awful. Changing tabs forces you to look at the menu screen every time. Or 85% of the time. You can’t just click the tab you want and go straight into it. FF forces you to do 2-4 extra clicks/swipes every time. Awful. These two things sound small, but they happen CONSTANTLY. So annoying.
Used to be great. Now I come across sites that won’t load properly. HTML elements in areas they shouldn’t be, fonts unreadable, buttons not showing, failed recaptchas, ads in websites make the page move fast enough to give me a seizure. It’s unusable lately. I’ve tried clearing the cache, using a different device, and every troubleshoot I can think of. Nothing works. My work site, it fails to utilize the SSL cert. But other browsers work fine.
It isn’t bad, but it lacks a lot of key visual elements and organizatioal tools for tablet interfaces, making this browser absolutely useless on 7+ inch screens. The main issue is not having an easy to read list of tabs at a quick glance. In order to read the titles for my open tabs, I must select the tab button to open an overlay that covers what was open in the current tab. This design choice makes it very difficult to use this browser while doing extensive research.
This should be basically the same experience as on desktop… not even close. If I want to view the desktop version of a site I have to toggle it on EVERY SINGLE TIME that a page loads. I should be able to set this for the brower for everything once. Also, it does NOT sync with my recent bookmark and password additions and no indication of how to get it to sync. Also also, viewing my open tabs is annoying, opening a new tab is akward, getting to my bookmarks is a pain.
The browser works great, has a nice interface and has extensions, including ad-block which is a must for me. That is the main reason why I switched from chrome to Firefox. In my opinion, the main disadvantage is that the password manager is not very good. Sometimes it offers to use passwords from subdomains that are not useful. I configured Firefox as my main password manager and it won’t offer to complete passwords on other apps.
The UI is miserable, it’s so taxing to navigate anywhere within the settings. Options like Print page and Search through Bookmarks are gone. The Bookmark manu looks awful and handles like it’s from the 90s. Can’t figure out how to pull up desktop tabs now. There’s great lack of add-ons now. Data collection is on by default. No data saving web compression feature like Chrome. History has no sorting, or search feature. Update: Still the same, not great…
Well, I was told a rep responded to me but nothing I can see… Uninstalled.. Leaving FF. This newest update is the worst I have encountered and have been using Firefox since version 6. Page rendering issues are rampant and it re-routes (somehow) into turning certain websites into actual apps(?!!!)..how and why? I’m loyal to Firefox and have used the browser as my default browser my Android phone and on the desktop at home as well, for many years. It is now a nightmare feeling of hopelessness.
I’ve used Firefox on my PC for years. I also use it on my phone too. It’s a great browser. One new feature is printing a web page as a PDF. View the web page to make a PDF of. Select the 3 dots in the upper right corner. Tap the “Share” icon. At the bottom of the page is “Save as PDF.” Press that, then Download. You can open it there or choose X and you’ll find the file in your “Downloads” folder.
When you have an old tab and you try to open it, it just shows a white screen and doesn’t open the link. Reloading also don’t work. Don’t know whats the issue. Also when the address bar is at the bottom, the tabs must be shown at the bottom and the gap should be at the top. Its irritating when the thumb cannot reach the tabs.
One of the few apps that seems to have figured out the bottom of the screen is what we can actually reach with Ordinary Human Hands! Wish the Homepage showed the same understanding. Shortcuts IMMOVABLE at the top; no way to control/pin/arrange what shows up in there!? Insane. Homepage needs some way to rearrange the sections, too. Want my 8 most common sites in easy reach. STILL have no way to rearrange or SORT bookmarks after more than a decade. Bookmark edit UX is also top-focused and bad.
Janky credit card, password, and form auto-fill (sometimes have to scroll back and forth to get the suggestion to appear, overly-strict form detection misses obvious address field; and why did it take so long to get saved addresses?). Missing core features like printing (either to cloud service or pdf) and other parity with desktop experience. Tab syncing between mobile and desktop is lame afterthought (not even a hotkey?). Otherwise decently zippy and easy to use.
This app is….okay. Im not sure if its just my phone, but this browser has been feeling clunkier and slower every update. Some reoccuring bugs ive experienced have been: 1. Closed tabs might reopen after Ive closed and reopened the app. 2. Refreshing the page can be a gamble. If the tab was opened through a different app, and you tab in and out of the app, the page may try to refresh and will never finish. It will just be stuck on a blank screen until you swipe the browser closed.
The app works great for the most part. Sometimes after searching on google a few times sends me back some pages, which is very irritating since I would have to fill in the entire search again. Recently re-ordering tabs was added as a feature, though I would like to see re-ordering bookmarks as a feature as well.
What happened? I used to use Firefox exclusively as my browser on Android. Now I’m at the point that i am ready to delete the app. Not at all impressed with the latest version. Pages don’t display correctly, media continues to play after closing tab, it requires multiple clicks to close, tabs stay open…. it’s a cluster. Update: Developer response was lame… basically “we have a forum”. Looks like I’ll be moving to another platform
There was a complete redesign of this a couple of years ago and it has never been as good since. Tons of function was stripped out and NEVER added back in. You still can’t rearrange tabs, you can’t view download progress, you can’t even tell when you are downloading something after you try to start it. 3 mo.s later and I still have no idea if a download has started or not. It has reached a point where I can do a long press on a file, select to download link, and 4/5 times nothing downloads.
Video and audio keeps playing, even when app is swiped away. When the app is closed, that’s because I don’t want to use it anymore. The fact that I then have to launch the app again and close the tab the video was in is not workable for me. Very bad design, it used to be such a great app. UPDATE: Firefox continues to not resolve this issue. Back to Chrome, I guess.
Grudgingly raised my review to three stars. No longer having issues loading pages, but new version is still a step backwards: – Opening tabs on the background is gone. I loved having this so I could click multiple links without switching back and forth multiple times. – Most extensions no longer work. It’s nice to have an ad blocker, but I miss extensions that limit the time I waste on certain websites, or block comment sections.
