Why do you don’t have an option (colored bar at top of the screen, or button) to get back to the active call if you leave switch screens? Many times I am in a video call and need to read a text someone has sent me, only to be unable to return back to the live video screen. I have looked extensively at all the options in Viber and cannot find the way to get back to the video call. Am I missing something?

Awesome service! The only annoying thing is it drops calls and has quality issues to the point the person on the other line cant hear me and hangs up which isnt good when youre paying for a service. Overall good but I wish they fixed the quality issues. Also the support is non existent and button layouts are weird on calls to the point you basically have to stay only on the app and do nothing else or you cant end the call.

  3. Been using this app since it was first released. Love the disappearing messages feature and the cute stickers (so many free ones). I like how Viber keeps improving the app and adding functions. However, the desktop (PC) version needs work. I keep having trouble signing in even though I’ve verified my phone number and email years ago. It keeps telling me to contact support, but as a working professional, I just can’t bother. Aside from that, I don’t have any complaints about the phone app itself.

I like the idea, and it has worked reasonably well for a couple of years now. I used to like that it works so well on a computer (which is SO much easier to type on than a phone keyboard!). But I only gave it 3 stars because the desktop version isn’t nearly so good any more. They update it all the time, so it keeps wanting to close (and when it updates, it also opens the developer’s page in my browser). And in between, it refuses to connect to the internet. The only “solution” I’ve been able to find is to uninstall and re-install it.

  5. Been super fantastic up until the latest update. Something is wrong when you send voice messages, it appears like the “media” sound and the “in-call” sound overlap and create poor sound quality received on the other end. The voice messaging quality seems to have dropped dramatically with this new update. Other than that, I find all the features and calling to be acceptable and even quite painless. Except the emojis on here, those are a bit too much or awkward looking for my tastes. There are a few neat exceptions, like the superheroes or more extensive hand signs, but the designs do look a little too goofy for me. I’d still recommend the app though, especially with all the file sharing capabilities this app can do for you, that’s also a neat feature.

  6. I decided to change my rating of the app because of trying the PC version of the app . It makes it so I can place phone calls with a computer . Plus it’s Linux version of the app is outstanding . I will try this app for long distance after all .Would be nice if you could get a second line . But since Google voice will be gone soon ,this is pretty close . Because it’s missing the functionality of texting , the one thing it can’t do is allow texting from a PC and phone .

The resizing of the window issue has been resolved which is a great improvement! Thank you. Seems like the “hit Enter to send message” function on Chrome OS is not working properly, so that would be a great next fix. In additions, the ability to rescale the app so it feels more natural in Chrome OS would make it a lot more appealing from an UI experience.

  8. I love it! Thank you for allowing me to run an older version and still chat with my friends on a newer version. Recently, the kboard on my device stopped working, so the app is not opening – I believe it’s because the app is looking for a kboard before it opens. (other apps still work) If so, is it possible for the app to look for a kboard only when it is actually needed? I believe, that should still allow the app to call existing contacts even though the kboard is not available. Super app!

  9. Very nice, easy to use. Free calls break up sometimes, but not as often as Skype, and there’s not really much noticeable distortion when calling internationally, which is a problem we have when using a landline. Love love love the stickers, sometimes we’ll have entire sticker conversations! Definitely the app that I use the most, and a must-have on every device I use.

  10. You can talk to someone on the other side of the world with almost perfect quality for free, provided the signal is good. It may get glitchy sometimes, mainly problems like the camera turning off and not turning back on, or one way talking audio. Easily fixed by hanging up and calling again. I’ll use it for several hours a day without issue. Better yet, NO ADVERTISEMENTS! NO BUGS ON YOUR PHONE! I really like this app.

  11. It was working great for about a year. Then it stopped connecting to t-mobile network but would connect via wifi for about a week. Then, it stopped connecting on wifi too! It is now unusable on my phone, but works fine on my computers. If I can’t get it working on my phone, I’ll have to switch to another app. Update: Support got me all set to go, thanks!

  12. Big Z dice:

A few days ago started crashing every time I open the app. Unless I receive a message and click on it I cannot access the app. Once in the specific message I can reply and receive messages under that contact. Once back button is pressed it crashes the app and you can go back to it. Very frustrating indeed. I like using Viber so please try to fix this ASAP. Thank you

  13. The app puts up notification alert messages which have nothing to do with any call or message being received. They alert you to dumb things like “Fred has come back to Viber” or “your friends are waiting for you on Viber.” So, so annoying. These are system alert messages so unless you want to turn off all system alerts for this app, you cannot disable this “feature.” This is reason enough for me to delete the app and never use it again. I will recommend all my friends do the same.

  14. This app allows users to video chat & the voice quality on phone calls is very clear. Be aware that when shared images or videos are opened, they are downloaded to your device. I cannot find an option to disable that feature. Saddly, the latest update added a new tab defaulting to an ad page upon opening & backing out of the app. I should have never applied the latest update.

  15. A perfectly fine app for internet-based communication. I use it to chat with people overseas, and as long as you have a stable Wi-Fi connection, it works. You can use this app to talk to and message people. I’ve had little issues with doing things like sending videos or extended calls. Works just like a regular communications program on a phone.

  16. compared to other similar apps, this one constantly has connection problems. There is no middle ground, it is either crystal clear or you cant hear anything. it often cuts out completely, and is very unreliable. I do not have these problems using similar apps, so I can only conclude it is something within the app Additionally, the desktop version will not work without scanning a qr code with your phone, however scanning the qr code does nothing. It’s a broken loop.

  17. The application and support are truly good but the only thing that bugs me and BUGS me really badly. Is the fact that I don’t want to give you guys location access because I won’t have any use of it and I don’t want it shared. But whenever I try to search a contact it asks me AGAIN FOR THAT PERMISSION WHICH I HATE THE INTERRUPTION. so either change the settings or 2 stars. Thanks again.

  18. Good for audio/video calls, though some times the video can hinder the connection. On audio only calls occasionally either party can stop hearing. Easy to share pictures. One quirk that’s annoying is you need to have phone numbers in particular format in your address book for Viber to recognize if that person has Viber. Would recommend, especially for data calls (T-Mobile allows those for free when abroad)

  19. Used to be my favorite calling app. I got so many people install Viber on their phone. Unfortunately it has been all downhill for a few years now. Transition between computer and the phone isn’t smooth anymore, actually it doesn’t work most of the times. I also don’t receive call notification on my computer. The call itself is below average these days. A lot of bugs and connectivity issues.

  20. Adrian J dice:

As of recently, I really hate this app and what the developers have been doing. Private messaging was good to have in a separate chat. The timer in the regular chat is very buggy. We should at least be given the option of whether we want private messages sent through a separate chat as it was or with the new way. Sticker search does not work as well as it used to either. There are stickers that I own that do not appear in searches by keywords that they used to show up with.

  21. The call tab was very helpful…. Now I have to rely on the person on other end to end the call…. If they can… That tab was very helpful to get back to the call if you close apps. It would remain there until the you end the call. I had a call in progress with no way of ending it. There is now no way of going back into the actual call if you go off of the call screen. It also does not show anywhere that a call is in progress. Galaxy s10+

  22. Been using this for a while It works pretty well. It does have connection problems at times and drops calls quite a bit but for free, it’s worth it. One issue I have is that I bought a local number to try out. When you originally sign up. You get the option for month to month or pay every 6 months. I chose the M2M. After using it for what I needed I wanted to increase to the subscription to 6 months for the discount but it seems you cannot do that and keep the same number. I canceled the M2M and tried to resign up while the original number is still valid but it just defaults to the higher price with no option to go to 6 months.

  23. I like this app. I’m able to connect with friends and family in the coolest ways. I would rate it 5 stars, but I have this terrible lag all the time, and it always lags whenever I try to send a message. Also, whenever I call someone through this app, it’s hard to talk to them because there’s this beeping sound all the time and lag. Aside from those and that weird “discovery”thing this app keeps trying to get me to look at, I love it! (Although the update may have caused all the lags)love it <3

  24. Out of all the apps I’ve used, (Signal, What’sCrap, Viber) Viber for me and company, has been rock solid and the most reliable means of communication. About the only thing I wish it had built in were the standard emoji and emoticon packages but, that’s not a deal breaker as the keyboards these days all have those built in as an option. The video chat was solid on WiFi on the LGV40 as well as over T-Mobile. The phone call aspect was clear and remained connected on both WiFi and T-Mo. I wish it had more options for appearance customization (font size and color etc but, for now, it’s fine as is.

  25. This app has been nothing but literal trouble. The only reason I have it on currently now, is that all other Communications have been compromised by hackers, and cost far too much to call anyone else where I need to have calls made. whenever actually on the line, I send snapshots or any kind of picture oh, it will not send unless it disconnects, which in itself is already frustrating, especially when those conversations are both for business and highly important. If possible, -15 Stars. FIX IT!!

  26. Jay T. dice:

So far I like it alright. A of couple things that could be adjusted. I don’t like that I can’t see when people have read the message, It won’t do an overlay icon so I can easily get in and out of the chat, and the notification sounds are sporadic, sometimes working sometimes not. I’ve even had at work through my silent mode which I did not love. Other than those things seems pretty okay.

  27. When it works, it’s great. It seems like during high volume times it can get overwhelmed. Sometimes it takes forever to deliver messages. It often shows an incorrect last seen. It will say last seen hours ago while I am messaging back and forth. The latest update made it more like WhatsApp. I liked it better before.

  28. I am using the Samsung Galaxy S9+ and there is no option to stop photos and videos taken by me, and sent in chat, to not be saved to my phone. It’s very annoying to have to delete a newly made folder every single time I take a photo or video in-app. I know the option exists on iOS, so I don’t understand why it isn’t available on all platforms. If this is fixed, I’ll happily give a 5/5 because the app is great otherwise.

  29. This is the second phone transfer attempt in the last 5 years where despite backing up the app can’t restore messages from it. It just said “oops, something error happened” then both phones acted like I need to create a new account. The backup file on gdrive is empty now too, just to make sure I lose all history. otherwise the app works ok, just don’t bother backing up your messages and expect to lose it all on a new device.

  30. The last update removed the option to “delete chat” without having to select individual messages withing the conversation. Please bring it back. It was a good feature so you can let a conversation between a set group continue without having to recreate a new chat or mess with the timeout refresh. This is a GREAT app. Call sound isnt always great but it’s not horrible either.

  31. Aino K dice:

I really like the app. Call quality through wifi is good, video chat I wish was like whatsapp where you have the option to flip the camera around. No issues with messages sending and receiving. I only wish there was an option to add another device (phone or ipod touch) using the same number apart from adding a computer and tablet. That would he helpful. Thank you.

  32. I would give 5 stars if the notification issue would get resolved. Please, please fix it! Notification shows up for a few minutes and then disappears. Unless you open the app, you are not aware that you have messages. Please, I would love to give viber 5 stars. It’s not an issue with my settings or my phone, I’ve thoroughly checked everything. It’s been happening since one of the last updates.

  33. Loved it, used it for years, my family, my parents, friends… and now I’m leaving it. Last update added “Explore/Shorts” and by default, it always open that tab first before I can even get to my messages, forcing me to stare at some couple’s legs in bed. Then when closing, it goes to that screen first, before I can close the app. Horror. And no option to disable it, or move it out of the way. If I can give zero stars, I would do it. Thanks a lot. 🙁

  34. I like that it’s easy to use and can use a password for additional security but the icon notification shows someone else there is a chat even if it’s not on the home screens. This does not make the app as private as possible. I’m order to send a message to only a few people out required all my contacts. Without the notification open to be seen I have to guess which person it is from the 140 it downloaded. Im going to try another app.

  35. This is absolutely the best messaging app. You can transparently and securely switch between phone and computer… and tablet too – – will sideload on Fire. Unlike Facebook Messenger, there’s no possibility of targeted ads based on your conversation. This is also the easiest way to send attachments: you can send pdfs, and there’s a more generous file size limit than MMS, if there is a limit – – never ran into it. You must absolutely have one smartphone with a phone number to create your identity/key. This is by design, not a bug. You can change your number without losing your identity as long as you have one device with your key. To preserve your chat history, you have to back up to your Google Drive account or to a file – – Viber doesn’t have your chats. There are no passwords to remember. Version six of the windows desktop app wouldn’t auto update but that’s fixed now too. Flawless.

  36. user dice:

App went south with latest update. When someone calls, it just keeps ringing without the ability to answer or see who is calling until they hang up. May 1. app is still broken. Notification issues. Aug 23. app is still broken. Still notification issues on numerous Android and iOS devices. Dec 20. notification issues are still present. There’s even more ads so I guess that’s something. Feb 13. 2021. App is now completely broke. Required me to register again which it doesn’t allow to complete. LoL

  37. Awen dice:

I like the app and have used it for years but recent updates have made it difficult to send and receive photos and shared links. The new “disappearing timed messaging” often doesn’t work properly and will turn itself off mid-conversation. They removed secret chats for this, making it difficult to have a private conversation and a non-private conversation simultaneously as you have to continuously click on the timers. And the timer length is ridiculous. Options go from 1 minute to 1 hour.

  38. Notifications are absolutely terrible. My fantasy football team started using this app for our group chat and it would sometimes take days to get notified of a new message. This was not a single user but the entire group was having issues. We switched and are enjoying instant notifications of new messages. This app is now uninstalled and won’t be reinstalling.

  39. Viber has served me pretty well for the years I’ve been using it, so I would like to give it more stars. However, within the past few months – every other week maybe – the app will slow and eventually freeze and won’t work for a day or two. I’ve tried force stopping it and restarting my phone and all that jazz, but to no avail. This is the only app on my phone that does this – I’d love for it to be fixed so I can continue to contact my family!

  40. An intuitive app I’ve been using for years to keep in contact with family and friends around the world. The only thing I hope developers are able to improve is the difference in colour between the purple and grey double ticks in chats. The colours are VERY similar on screen, so it’s always difficult to tell the difference between a message that has been DELIVERED and one that has actually also been READ. Can you make the difference in tick colours more distinct like they once were? Many thanks!
