This has been a great app, best messaging app by distance. But it can be greatly improved upon. I still wonder why the developers have left it this boring 💤 I have used GB whatsapp in the past, it’s a hundred times better. I don’t need all the features in GB integrated here, but at least, some useful ones should be. Like the following; 1. Option to change the default display menu colours, and outlook style. 2. The option to separate individual chats from group chats.
It’s crazy to think how dependent we are on such a mediocre app, as it is possible that being the largest messaging app in the world, the photos and videos that are sent lose so much quality. The incredible thing is that if we want to use another app like telegram it is difficult to have conversations out there because people do not use it. Being for now much better messaging app. All wrong
With the new update, I also lost the ability to send gallery photos from within the app, as other users have said. It took me a long time to figure out how to fix it. The other problem I have had for years is: When I am listening to a voice recording and something accidentally covers my phone’s light sensor, my screen automatically goes black and the message stops playing. It takes several steps to start the message again, and there is no setting to fix it! It drives me crazy!
This is by far the best messaging app that I have found. It is absolutely perfect for communicating with anyone domestic or overseas in nearly every way imaginable. I have a few gripes. Pictures are degraded quite a bit. I don’t see an option to send them in a higher quality. I also hate the the five person limit for sending a message to.
I’d give more than 2 stars if I could reach someone to resolve issue. Whenever I attempt to attach photos/video from gallery, it wont allow me to select them. Of course, I also have to select Gallery from the 3 buttons on the right, but regardless, I cannot select and send. This is very frustrating as I use this for work and used to be able to do this with captions for each pic. Now I have to attach, write caption, send and do it again (from another app!)
I like this app. Most of my friend and family groups have just migrated to it because of the ease that voice notes and video chat provide. That said, I wish there was an option to limit the picture and video auto-download by individual/group chat and not for the whole app. I have some chats where I like keeping pics, but others, not so much, so the fact that I have to go into my folders to manually delete is a bit annoying. That’s why I took away a star. Otherwise, it’s a pretty good app.
Was good. But the latest update doesn’t allow you to select multiple pictures to send, you have to send one at a time. It now also requires multiple steps to get to your album just to be able to share pics. So you have to go through multiple steps to get to your gallery (which wasn’t intuitive after years of using it) and you can only select 1 pic at a time…..
loved it but within the past update or two I’ve been so frustrated with the light sensor changing the way the msgs can be heard. I’ll try to listen and it keeps stopping no matter what i try.. seems so random, I don’t know why it works or doesn’t work at any given time, and now I’m trying to listen to a msg on my headphones and it switches to speaker whenever i put the phone in my pocket. i do not want to have to hold the phone to hear everything, and even when i do, it doesn’t play sometimes!
Glitchy backup to Google Drive. The preset schedule is at 0200hrs on daily basis. But recently, not only it’s having difficulties to finish the backup process, it appears your app has chosen to disobeying its schedule. That still cool to me. But the whole backup process normally will messing with my connectivity. Therefore, I could barely access the network while Whatsapp updating its database. You’re part of a big brand. How could this slipped under your nose ?
A good app to have for traveling. It lets you contact people on a plane where texting isn’t allowed. Also good for international trips if you want to use wifi and cheapen out on foreign plans. I only download it for these purposes because other than that I can just normal text/call. I believe their ads about carriers posting your private info online is probably a scare tactic to make you get an otherwise useless app. Never had it happen to me nor know anyone who had it happen to them.
On Samsung devices, there’s been a new update that’s come through and WhatsApp images do not show the latest image that has been taken, for example like a screenshot that you just took will not be available in the gallery unless you go through and click the three dots and then select the photo. And even when you do that you can always select one photo at a time. Previously all photos would be available even ones that you just took. Please fix this so I can give you a five-star review.
The latest update broke the ability to view .gif files in any gallery app. The development seems to be in constant flux (very noticeable bugs every couple of releases, most likely due to poor testing policy at microsoft), but it’s the app everyone i know uses so i feel like i have to stay locked in. It’s an OK app though; based on the Telegram protocol, but less secure.
As others have stated, this latest release makes sharing photos from the gallery very difficult, you can’t send multiple photos at once any more, and you can’t write captions anymore. this problem cannot be resolved as it’s to do with how whatsapp accesses media from your phone. Utter garbage, this used to be a great app, now it’s practically useless.
Fingerprint Lock not Working. I just got a new Pixel 7 Pro and when I switched phones, the app is not maintaining the “fingerprint lock” setting It only works randomly. Sometimes I open the app, it doesn’t ask for a fingerprint and other times it does even though the setting is enabled. I have deleted and redownloaded the app, cleared the cache, disabled and reenabled the setting again, nothing has worked to make it prompt me every time for a fingerprint.
My earbuds (Tozo T9) don’t work in calls AT ALL anymore but work perfectly fine in every other app on my phone which is super annoying because my current phone doesn’t have a headphone jack so I’m stuck either being on calls with them on speaker or holding up my phone all the time. Additionally the new update makes sending photos a nightmare with all the additional clicks you have to go through.. only to be able to send one photo at a time 🙃
Great when it decides to work. Half of my messages take all day to send out most of the time. And out of nowhere, every call I have ends up “Reconnecting” and then getting dropped. My video calls don’t work anymore. Since the update, it’s become more difficult to communicate with people by just using this app.
New update sucks – please revert photo sharing features to how it worked before. Now, instead of seeing my photos to send, I see photos I’ve already sent. I don’t want that. Also, once I found the secret photo menu, I can only select one photo at a time. Sux sux sux – I get it – you don’t want us to use your storage. Don’t care. Incentive us another way. Please fix photo sharing.
After the latest update, am having problem while viewing videos. The volume control does not stay fixed. It keeps coming to zero while viewing the videos. The same thing happens during video calls. Often the volume control panel remains on the left side of the screen. This is a terrible situation as I don’t know how to remove the latest update. Please rectify the problem speedily through another update.
All the one star reviews are WRONG. The update has not changed anything. It is still working the same as it was before the update. WhatsApp is the BEST app for sending multiple photos at one time and For sending videos. Also being able to call and video call for free is awesome especially when friends and family are abroad. Great app. Nothing negative to say about it at all.

Whenever I try to backup, screen timeout happens and I turn my phone back on, WhatsApp screen goes blank. Even when I try to go back it doesn’t work. Just ‘WhatsApp’ at the top left corner and a blank screen. Please do something about this. EDIT: So far so good. But one more thing. 2 issues I’ve experienced recently. 1. I can send messages but they aren’t being received by my contacts and 2. When I try to send a picture I have to go through my device folders to find the photo even though it was a recently save photo. WhatsApp has made it so most folders can’t be seen without doing a full search unlike before when all folders could be seen when you click the attachment symbol
Since the latest update in early December, I’ve also experienced the same problem about not being able to select multiple photos to send in one shot. It’s due to an incompatibility issue between whatsapp and the latest version of Android, and here’s a quick solution to fix it. Go to Setting, Apps, Whatsapp, you will see that whatsapp doesn’t currently have permission to your Photos and Videos. Tap permission and allow both, as well as music and audio. Once it’s done, the problem would be fixed.
After the recent update, a ring around the profile photo appears for the contacts who have posted a status update in the Chats page itself which is so annoying. I do not want to see the status photo when I click on the profile picture. If we want to check the status, we would rather go to the status page and view it directly. So please remove this feature. Thank you in anticipation.
Whatsapp should add a screenshare option while in video calls . It would be fun and convenient to have the option of sharing what you’re looking at in real time instead of getting screenshots and sending them while in video calls. I don’t know if that’s even possible right now, but maybe it’s something the team can look into. Apart from that, the current features are superb and work just fine 👌🏾

Definitely, its a good and a helpful app. The main problem is the pictures you send or post on status are not clear as the way the original picture looks. I don’t know about iphone users, but I noticed it on some android phones. And secondly, default message timer shouldn’t be added in settings. Sometimes you chat with someone about an event that will take place like next week. If you forget the date and the individual set up disappearing messages that is 7 days. You will have to ask them again
Since the last update, like everyone else mentioned, I can’t send photos directly from the app. It takes forever for the photos to actually show up when I try to find it thru the app. No matter if it’s a photo I just took or a screen capture. Also, when I try to change my whatsapp wallpaper, it limits the folder that I can choose from. So not quite exactly all of “my photos.” Not even when I screenshot it and hoping it would show up as “my photos”, nope.
1) Constant backup issues. Now I have to use two copies of the app. 2) The app for Mac wants to update but it doesn’t for some reason. And doesn’t open either, so I use a web version instead. 3) Can’t make a voice call quiet enough—even in the quietest mode it’s too loud so that people in the same car can hear everything. There is no issue with that in other messengers. 4) And of course timeless classics—no way to use it on the laptop unless your phone has an active Internet connection.
Always loved the app. Since the last update on Dec. 5th, 2022 – the screen is jumpy. I have tried everything. The only thing left I can think of to try is uninstall and re-install. Also, I really don’t like the grammarly thing. I’m ok with word suggestions, but I hate autocorrect, and it trying to suggest all kinds of things. I’m fairly decent in English and my grammar…but sometimes I’m just texting…sometimes I want it to not be perfect.
Image attachments have stopped working. You can no longer type a message and insert an image. It has to be two separate messages. It also opens up a different gallery view to the normal one, meaning that you can only see the images already in what’s app. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling but it is still not working. Please can this be resolved ASAP. OK, I’ve looked into this and there is an app called Telegram. It solves all of the problems above.
Used to be great, not anymore. WhatsApp does not recognize phone’s media after the latest Android upgrade. This creates a major inconvenience when it comes to sending files. In addition, phone calls disconnect after a few minutes blaming the phone’s microphone. And on top of that, their customer support is the worst i have seen in a long time. So slow and useless. Such a big disappointment!
I don’t understand why when I send screenshots or certain images to my contacts or my WhatsApp status it is not always the same, I mean it doesn’t retain its original quality. It is annoying, especially for Android users. It is annoying. I want WhatsApp programmer to look into it and maybe work on it. Let’s get images sent and received them just the way it is and not some blurry lookalike.
I sent a message to a friend. An audio message. On playback there was no sound. I pressed the 3 notification dots and pressed report. Thinking I’d be able to resolve an issue. Instead it blocked my contact so I unblocked them. After unblocking them I noticed our entire 2 year history of every message and audio and photos, giffs and everything was gone. This has left me very very upset. Can I restore my history and get all this back. Pressing a report option shouldn’t wipe everything.
Recent update really messed up the gallery section! Not only it doesn’t open the phone’s gallery by default, but even when you reach it, you can’t find videos there, so you can’t send videos directly from the app anymore. The gallery is showing only pics and there’s no way to get to the video files. In addition – the backup hardly works! Before this upgrade weekly backup took minutes, now it’s stuck for hours!!
i love this app, it’s very reliable in my opinion, and it has good quality. I don’t know what I’d do without it. I just wish there would be more features with the status viewing, where you can make different groups of people who can view your status, and also that you can see who viewed your status when your read receipts are off. I do however dislike the fact that we can’t screenshot 1 view photos anymore.
Ever since I installed the app on my new phone (pixel 7 pro) I cannot send voice msgs. Like if I press on the record icon, it sends immediately after 1, 2 or 3 seconds. It keeps sending before i even start even if I press to the point I almost crack my screen. All others apps like messenger, ig can send voices easy with me barely touching the icon. I reinstalled the app and nothing. There’s nothing online talking about this issue
App does it’s job, but the customer service is automated and dreadful. Had my account hacked and number assigned to another device without me knowing. Emailed with the problem and got copied and pasted segments from their FAQ page that offered no help whatsoever. I’ve now lost access to my messages, and can’t sign back into my account because of their poor security measures. Will be escalating the issue further.
A couple of issues: 1. When selecting photos to be sent, it no longer shows the phone’s gallery folders by default. Very inconvenient to have to access it through the 3 dots on top left hand corner. 2. Unable to select multiple photos to be sent at once. Extremely inconvenient. Please look into it and fix them. New fun glitch makes voice clips I receive occasionally just be segments of the last voice clip I sent. Restarts don’t fix it. Furthermore, it used to be that i could play a voice clip in a long string of voice clips, open a different app and listen to them all in the background. Now it sometimes stops at the end of one message even if there’s more to play.
No doubt that this app is much reliable and easy to use. Also it provides it’s user a complete security. But I am facing a problem for past 2 months . When I open status updates it not works well . Sometimes it goes by itself without my click. Sometimes besides to show me a status which I want to see it shows me black picture totally black. It’s sad and bad . Plzz fix these problems
The app is getting worse with each update. I’ve been a WhatsApp user now for at least 7 yrs. The icons on the screen that allow you disconnect the call suddenly disappear. I’m forced to ask the person I’m on the line with to disconnect the call. Also, if im out and talking, the call constantly disconnects. This was never an issue before. I’m not sure if the servers have been changed or theres just more ppl using the app.
This app has done everything I have asked it to do, and has been excellent in many ways. The only complaint I have is that it is inconsistent regarding Do Not Disturb status and screen sleep. I have had it notify me when DND is on and also had it silent from the same user (I only use the app for one person). Other times the phone will go to sleep while on extreme battery saver (Android) but there are times when it will stay active for several minutes (10+) while on extreme battery saver.
The worst messaging app. Chat backup works terrible and it seems there’s no intention to improve it. Incredible that in 2023 it doesn’t have a function to send a message at a specific time or even to play a voice message with the screen turned off! When sending multiple photos, there are many photos it doesn’t send (incredible that your app is not capable of sending a photo fine). Not even a thing is good in this app, even the chat support is a total joke. DISASTER.
Raju 11/26/22 I had a very good experience of using this application, and it’s so useful for the person to have a conversation with the person who is far from us. just one suggestion you must add up the music in the story uploading so the people who wants to add music with photo or a video can be possible caasily. Must do this change and update it soon, people will so happy to use it. Thank you very much.
I’ve been experiencing strange behaviours with the app for a long time. All kinds of media I try to send seem to be uploading indefinitely, but they are already sent. Also, I can’t download images sent to me, the button with the image size appears and when I click it, the dummy loading spinner starts but never ends. But they are downloaded, I can access them from the contact info. I’ve tried everything: from forcing the app to stop to reinstalling it. It makes the app unbearable. Please fix this
My preferred instant messenger. Ok I don’t like the fact that FB own it and they can see the metadata, but more people I communicate through this sort of app with don’t seem to want to shift to Signal. It’s generally reliable and I like that you can “dump” a chat history into a file if you’re using that as a basis for a chronological record of real time experience, ok modelled. I wish it had a few more functions like Telegram but I find Telegram doesn’t get the basics quite as soot on.
There is been a bug in WhatsApp which is stillnot fixed. Every time when the video plays in the Status, it fails to load and loads status of the next person. When multiple videos are added continuously, then last portion of that video don’t play. It needs to be reloaded to watch it. Please fix this as soon as possible. I am having this problem since a year now! And I have seen others having the same issue…
Still the BEST App. I have a suggestion for group chats. Could you create an instant reply option that allows you to reply multiple previous messages without having to constantly scroll back up to the top of a conversation once a reply is delivered. We have a lot of people in group chat and after a 30 min conversation that leaves 100+ messages. I have to continually scroll back up to the top of the conversation to reply comments left from my friends and after a while it just becomes tedious.
Without any doubt, it’s one of the most helpful applications in present days. With every update there’s a new thrilling experience! However, with the latest update, a new problem has arrived.. firstly the status ring around profile picture which has already been mentioned of… Also the fact that when messages are sent and deleted for us, the chat used to go down despite staying up with the recent chats, that feature is no more available… Kindly look after these issues….
One of the biggest company and one of best chatting platform, i like how they have introduced some good features but also so many problems. If i send a photo or voice note or video, even if the size is in kb, it would take a long time to process. I have a good internet. People dp takes long time to load. Downloading something takes too late, photos quality are greatly reduced even i have enable the setting of best quality. Please fix this.
