Don’t know what I would do without this app. I pay a small price monthly and it’s worth every cent and more!! But lately, within the pass few months (since March 2022) this app had not been doing as it’s description. The blocked numbers still ring through and able to leave voicemail but it’s nothing but noise that’s left. How can an app work like it should and then down the road everything that it’s suppose to do, it’s as if it’s not setup or installed anymore? I’m very disappointed. Help!!

  2. One of best screeners made. Beyond Great 😊😊😊 Wish there was a way to block text with service from scammers or text from email also but better than others. I have paid version and will continue as long as they keep blocking spammers. Also wish there was a way to block spammers from cloaning local numbers; or a way to send virus to corrupt their system. Cost them for the aggravation. Thanks again and highly recommend.

I’ve been having a horrible problem with scammers and the like ringing my phone at all hours for almost the last 2 years. Finding a call blocker that would work was a necessity, or I was facing a possible need to change my number. Hiya worked amazing well as a free version. In my case, I purchased the yearly pro subscription. It has been working consistently well for over a year and a half. I have to sing the praises of the last updated feature! The ability to “block any number starting with”

STOP OVERRIDING MY SETTINGS!!! I turn off “appear on top” and app keeps turning it back on! Not OK! It gets in the way, and it’s frustrating to have to close it every call. Even shows up on my work app (has a phone function different from the default phone app)! Used to be great but now it’s only good for flagging & blocking spam & sharing info on callers. Fomerly free features are “premium” now, yet functionality has gone downhill.

  5. I’ve had this app for years and in the beginning it was great, blocked spam calls, sent them to voice-mail or text, all was free! Now you have to subscribe to premium to get what used to be free! I’m getting all kinds of calls from non- contacts that used to be screened so I’m not even sure why I still have this app on my phone since it’s not screening anything anymore. I used to refer this app to anyone looking for a great call blocker, not anymore.

I’ve had this app a good while now. Like many of its type, relies heavily on crowdsourcing to ID spammers, and seems to become less reliable over time. More scam and spoofed calls get through than should. Settings could also be better (more options on the user side vs only the app side). If you want the premium features, you can subscribe but frankly I found the experience only marginally better.

  7. This app was really useful once upon a time, but they took previously standard features and put them behind a subscription wall. Automatic blocking and call identification are essential features. I came to this app from another one that had these features free, and I guess I’ll have to go back. I prefer to pay a flat one time fee for an app, I’m not in the market for a subscription.

  8. Another pay per month subscription. App was great before subscription was required to identify numbers. It actually worked well and I loved it. I’m rating it down due to the change to the subscription service. Developers could have used a one-time payment for premium but no no, they’re going the way of the horrible monthly subscription service. I’d gladly pay a reasonable one-time fee for Pro. Consider this for the future.

  9. Unfortunately, the developers have now decided to charge for an application that has been steadily declining in functionality. Blocked calls go to your voicemail, calls are identified as spam after you hang up. I have found it easiest just to add all of my contacts to a group and assign a custom ringtone. Those I answer, anyone else can leave a message. Uninstalled.

  10. Features that have been free for as long as I’ve had this app now require a paid subscription! This is ridiculous, and I’m uninstalling and looking for something better. Even before the change, the app has always been “meh” because even for numbers on my block list, it would ring at least once before it blocked the call. It was recommended as the best app when I downloaded it, so I never looked for anything better. It was barely worth having when free, totally useless now.

  11. Used to love it. This app was amazing. My issue was that they now require a fee to identify the caller. I don’t need an app to show me the same unidentified number as my phone does. And not giving any warning prior to the premium switch is what bothered me the most. Give us a notice before the switch. To just provide an update that changed everything and charges a fee for the features that made this app a benefit is ridiculous. I’ll be uninstalling.

  12. I love your app it does a great job at identifying potential spam but the last update cause my phone to glitch and not allow my call waiting to function properly. It would hang up on the call that I’m on if another caller tried to call through to my line and send the call to voicemail. I had to uninstall it to stop it from doing that please fix the glitch so that I may reinstall this app. Other than that the app is great and I really appreciate the job that you have done with the app.

  13. All I get is an error message anymore telling me to check my connection, and I know I’m connected. notifications constantly get suck in the notification bar so had to shut them off. Most of the time calls ring and ring, doesn’t really seem to block right away like it used to. most of the time doesn’t tell me who’s calling. Also get notifications there days after someone calls. Really not happy with the app, apparently they want you to pay for most of the services now. My previous review is gone.

  14. Don’t know how well this works yet, but I will leave a review immediately because of something about the UI that is annoying, and that is every time you load the app or reopen it, it reloads all the call logs stored on the device at once, and if you have a lot like I do, it can take quite a few seconds. Please change this to where it will only load up to, say 10 or 20 at a time, and then you can choose to load little by little as you scroll, or at least make that a setting in the app.

  15. It was great. After years of having access to our contacts they go straight to pay to play. It was great while it lasted but there is plenty of competition. I would have definitely shelled out the $15 per year if there had been some warning. Having the app update and stripping it of its functionality until you pay was cruddy.

  16. So far this has been an acceptable app. It shows information about a caller that I normally wouldn’t be able to get myself. I will continue to use this app however the one problem I’ve had with this app is how slowly it works. It takes awhile for the caller ID box from Hiya to pop up to show you the caller while the phone is ringing. So basically the phone has rang enough to go to voicemail but typically doesn’t show the info until about the fifth ring. Wish the app worked faster.

  17. Really do not like this app. It’s pointless, as scammers and fake called just spoof new numbers, so blocking does no good. I do not want to hear a ring or two before it sends it to voice mail – I do not want blocked calls to ring at all, nor do I want them to go to voicemail. I want to hear nothing. My phone will sometimes show the name on caller ID (even when it is not a saved contact), but Hiya pops up, offering to show the name if I pay. The app is intrusive, in that it shows me what number I am calling, even if it’s in my contacts (I do not need to know that info, not sure why it’s there – just turned it off, but how annoying I have to do that extra step), and then gives me the details of the call I just finished – and again, I’ve turned it off, but it’s silly that I have to do that, plus it STILL vibrates when a call ends. Uninstalling.

  18. Good app that got greedy. I loved it and recommended it to all my friends. Now it’s wanting me to pay premium to get names and info. And it doesn’t just ask once. It puts two pop ups on my screen after a call about going premium and on the info block of the call, it says (literally) “name” then “premium” to make sure I know that I’m not getting everything I could. It’s trying very hard into shaming me into upgrading.

  19. X X dice:

I love this app and recommend it to all my friends and family. My only complaint is actually related to what I love about it, in that it’s quick to block a caller if you ignore them (not great when it blocks just because you missed the call). The allow and block buttons should also be reversed, as I’ve accidentally blocked people trying to make a quick decision to get rid of the popup before the call goes to VM (would also make sense to just not have it pop up until the call has ended).

  20. Wonderful App! The free version actually gives you a bunch of features. They automatically block spam calls based on collected data from real people, they identify the caller ID so you know who it is, and you can also see what people have said about the spam calls. If you want every call to have a caller ID and not just business calls and saved contacts, you do have to pay. Otherwise, amazing app.

  21. I absolutely LOVE this app. I have the premium version and it is well worth the small fee I pay monthly. I used to get a lot of spam and telemarketing calls. Now I hear the phone start to ring and then stops. I used to get over 100 calls a day,, but no more.. Also the number lookup and reverse calling is the bomb. I recommend this app to anyone that hates those calls. Also, there is a free version available if you want to try it. .

  22. Nick Suma dice:

I have spent the last two years looking for a good spam blocker. This is the one! You have to pay for premium, the free version just shows you that it works but doesn’t do enough. I use the screening call feature which blocks calls until they identify themselves. I just wish it wouldn’t screen numbers on my contact list. I combine this app with youmail.

  23. The app very rarely comes up with any info, which makes sense because a lot of spam calls change numbers to look local. I get it. But it still comes out, blocking a large portion of my screen. Then I get a call, and it says the name of the caller is available! If I get premium. Is this new? It’s jarring to see what I thought was a free app suddenly cost money to do what I downloaded it to do. I get that apps need to make money but… not sure that’s the best way to do it.

  24. it’s not perfect but it’s good and I have recommended it. The problem is that the spammers keep changing their phone numbers–daily, I believe. Dont know what they think they will accomplish by continued bugging of people. in any case, if I have blocked a number. Hija will cut it off, and warns me, many times, that they are attempting to scam me. I really like the app, very useful and easy to use.

  25. Great concept — didn’t work. I enabled blocking of numbers matching the first 6 digits of my number. The first day, the phone would begin to ring, then get blocked — interrupting me with a ring, which seems to defeat the purpose. I can swipe down on my own calls, if I wanted to hear the phone ring and have to check whose call I missed. The second day, calls matching the first 6 digits just came through – like nothing was even on. I double-checked that the options were still set to screen calls matching that criteria. The app did nothing to stop these calls.

  26. The initial installation included more features. Over the past year they have removed features from the basic app and moved them to the premium app, which of course they want you to pay for. Furthermore, when a call comes in the Hiya pop-up window blocks my phone screen. I was unable to answer a few calls trying to get the damn pop-up window off my screen. I will probably uninstall soon.

  27. Was pretty good until they decided to take away features and force you to pay, without any advance notice (automatic updates made it useless without a subscription). If they would have been up front about their plans, I would have paid a fee for a pro version, as I believe in supporting developers, but the last thing I need is to be forced into yet another subscription. Uninstalling.

  28. Not long ago I would have happily given 5 stars. Identified and blocked or whitelisted calls with ease, and the auto “text me who you are and I’ll answer” was great. Loved it! Recently they’ve changed a few things and I’m not as happy with it as I was. It still screens and blocks spam, but not like it did (trying to go to a paid service). And no longer shows who the caller is, so I’ve missed some important calls. Will update again when I decide how I feel about the changes. Currently not happy.

  29. Works Great Does a good job of filtering out spam calls. If they’re not in your contacts they are not getting through. It will push the call straight to voicemail. After a while they will give up and not call you anymore. My phone will vibrate once (I don’t use sound very much) and then go to voice mail. It works too well sometimes. If you are expecting an important call be ready for it so you can approve the number. Better yet them to your contacts so it comes through. I recommend this app!!!!

  30. Lmao, these guys shot themselves in the foot! I get it you guys want to make money. Every app has been changing to subscription. this is not a must have app. your subscription is too high when I can simply block people with a good old-fashioned default phone app. this app doesn’t solve a problem it just makes it easier to control the issue. $10 a great sounds fair, after all we (users) helped out by inputting missing data!!

  31. Hiya overrides your own contacts list with its own information, so what you know to be true is not shown to you. For example, it seems to show you the name of the person who opened the phone carrier account for the caller’s phone, rather than the different person who you know actually uses the phone, namely what you put in your own contacts entry

  32. When I was first installed this app it worked fine since then i have uninstalled and reinstalled it hoping it would go back to normal. it constantly gives me a message saying it can’t connect to something and the will not ID any calls unless from my contacts list. i thought it was just my internet connection but that doesn’t seem to be the issue. otherwise it blocks calls just fine, and when the caller ID worked it was a nice app to use.

  33. This app was, at best, hit or miss in blocking junk callers while allowing calls from contacts through. Too many times a call would be “blocked” but really, it only keeps the phone from ringing, and when voice mail picked up, a message was left that would need to be dealt with. And now they want me to pay for that? Not happening. I am uninstalling this app because it’s now as bad and the calls it says it blocks.

  34. The app stopped working displaying: “Something went wrong. The system is currently unavailable. Please check your connection and try again.” My connection is fine as all other Internet-based apps work on my phone including this ability to leave a feedback. With this error the app will no longer pull a list of my blocked numbers, so it stopped blocking spammers. I would not complain about the app if it remained free. But now when I am paying for it, I would expect it to work. Please fix it soon.

  35. I decided to give this app a try, then immediately noticed that the numbers read the same as always, including spam. Then I noticed an ‘Upgrade to Premium’ which would allow numbers to be identified. I thought ‘Isn’t this a free Caller ID App..?’ So, I decided to bite the bullet and pay for a Subscription. The Premium Subscription is Premium garbage. it changes nothing, blocks no calls, and doesn’t help. Edit: Found the subscription cancellation, but it would be nice to have it in-app..

  36. So far I don’t think this app has identified any calls correctly. Maybe one time it warned me about possible spam (that some user probably marked as telemarketing). But it has the wrong information for several people, even though their number is in my address book, and I gave the app access to it. The T-Mobile version seemed to have been more accurate and better (but want way to much money). Keeps asking to save info already saved. Relies on your address book and you updating their database… Avoid, this data collecting app.

  37. App worked decently, at best, for a few months. Recently, it stopped blocking calls, kept randomly opening the app, and I kept getting notifications to “subscribe to premium for more features” even though I was already paying $2.99/month for premium. Seems like all of the premium features got shut off, even though I had been paying for them. Interesting to see an app made to PREVENT scams turn into a scam itself.

  38. I have paid for the “Premium” version and it does NOT do what it promises. I still have blocked numbers ringing through and not just one or two rings. You have to actually hit reject to make it stop. This happens even with numbers already in block list. It has only identified 7 calls out of hundreds. I have reported the issue but I have never been contacted for technical support. I’m looking for a different app and uninstalling this one. I do NOT recommend this app.

  39. This was a great free app I used for YEARS. They added a paid feature where now some free features are part of a paid $2.99 monthly service. That went on for about a year or so, but features I didn’t need. Now after update, 100% of app is $2.99 month after 7 day trial. Now it’s UNINSTALLED! If I’m going to pay $2.99 month, I’ll just pay my Verizon bill for their paid version. I was trying to save that little bit with your free app. But you went & screwed up a free lunch! Good luck…

  40. I used to love this app, for the most part. Now that they are forcing you into a monthly subscription for caller ID service, it provides less than my phone does. I might see paying a minimal one-time charge, but almost three dollars a month for caller ID? I’ll have to pass. Plus, I started receiving even more SPAM calls after downloading it. Sorry Hiya. Appreciated the service you did have.
