Is kinda useful. But the feed is a PITA. I hate the notifications that won’t go away unless you look at it. It can’t be disabled and what’s worse is sometimes, even after you view it, the notification still won’t go away. I forced a stop and cleared the cache but it just won’t go away. So I uninstalled it. I have a low tolerance for that kind of BS. UPDATE: I’d uninstalled the app but thought I might give it another try to see if the bug was fixed… nope… still broken.

Really awesome app! It’s almost better than fishbrain! Comparing the 2 this one has more spots and options for free! Sure the interface is a bit dull, and there’s always room for improvements but, this is probably the best fishing app for for ZERO dollars! Of course if u have the extra money for fishbrain pro, that’s better. But if u don’t, just like me… 😆 This is truly the best!!!

It’s a really great app, however, the main issue I have is in the small things in the UI. It lacks polish and can be unintuitive and frustrating at times. Once you work your way around the UI, it works very well. The UI is weird and unintuitive, but it’s consistently weird and unintuitive, which does make it easier to use. There are other fish map apps on the app store, but they lack all the good features like the feed, forecasts, and tackle setups. This app also has a decent following.

This is a pretty cool app. Overall very useful. I can check tides, weather conditions, fish activity, follow areas, and so much more. Depending on your preferences and theories about when you like to fish this app helps you decide and plan when and where to go. Plus I like seeing other posts. I would give it a 4 due to needing some functionality but I can tell they make continuous improvements and are open to feedback.

I really enjoy all the things this app allows you to look up and take a look at so you can understand exactly what’s going on and how people can share their locations and everything else. Update: because of the ability to see the depth in the water from the map set up, I caught the biggest fish I ever have, 60+ lbs black drum in Port Lavaca Tx. Thank you to this app for such a great time.

  8. Excellent journal and social media app for sport fishing. Straight forward UI design, easy to log catch information, and you can share and see what people nearby have been catching. You can even bring up a map with pins marking where people have logged a catch. You are prompted with a share or private posting option every time you log a catch, so it’s easy to keep things private, if you want. So far the ads have been minimal, which is greatly appreciated.

  9. Cool app. Fun to see who’s catching what around you. Also makes it easy to find out where people around are you fishing. It’s not always easy to find good fishing spots and being able to travel around and see where anyone local is fishing makes it really easy. Integration into Google maps is nice and you can record all your catches with great detail. The ads are Instagram style, meaning they mostly just show up in the picture feed, so they’re pretty inoffensive. Wish the report system was better

  10. This app has everything new Anglers and seasoned Pro Fisherman need to get on Fish. You can connect with other Anglers. The maps are phenomenal, the forecast predictions for when to fish are spot on. The maps also help you find and locate new spots to fish near you! So I no longer have to guess where I am going to find a place to fish when I travel or go on vacation. The maps makes it easy to find a spot. I can go on and on about this app. It’s that good, and FREE for crying out loud!

Really enjoy this app. Lots of learning from it and it’s great maps I have found better spots to fish than Google maps and it’s easier to use. When you find a fishing hole you have the option of posting it so it’ll show up on maps for everyone to see. I was honestly surprised when I saw how many people were posting their catches and where they were catching them at, places I never would have even thought to fish.

  13. This app was so bad I uninstalled it soon after I installed it. One of the issues is that my location is not my main fishing location. Once I allowed the app to access my location, that was the kiss of death. The map kept defaulting to my location instead of the main fishing spot which I had set. Also, the map is covered by hundreds of these circles with numbers on them which I could not remove. Nightmarish introduction. Unlikely to install it again.

  14. I am enjoying the app immensely! Very informative infomation regarding specific areas to fish, species of fish and current weather conditions at most locations. Each catch often includes photos, tackle and lures used and techniques employed. The other users are both friendly and helpful, willing to answer all questions for both new and seasoned anglers. This app and its users will help anyone to improve as an angler and catch more fish! I highly recommend this app, a must have for anglers!

  15. Having issues with the app saying no internet connection over mobile and wifi. Won’t load the local or global feeds right now. I can see my posts but noone else’s. Maybe an update issue. Overall a great app, I use it every day I’m out on the water. Update – everything seems to be working fine now. It is a great app and would highly recommend.

  16. More of a “to the point” version of Fishbrain without the paid content, constant ads,& other bugs that come with trying to have too many features. Simplicity at its finest~almost like the early years of Facebook. May leave more to be desired for some people addicted to their technology, but FishAngler is top-notch for the average fisher(wo)man IMO. 4 stars cause nothing ever gets a 5 from me løl.

  17. Your response is nonsense. i can’t tell where to zoom in I can only barely tell I’m looking at my state. it’s too many pins. Can’t see the maps to tell where the indicators are. Just black dots everywhere. can’t turn off all layers to get your orientation. Pretty useless as a map. Instead of telling me I’m using it wrong fix the problem. I’ll even tell you what to change. Make it so the map can remove all pins. So I can zoom into a desired area, and have a sense of direction.

  18. Brian dice:

Found this app just by searching fishing on the Google Play Store and it has turned out to be fantastic for seeing what others are catching in your area as well as anywhere else in the country. I love how much detail you can add to a catch that you log on the app. Plus it seems to run very smoothly and does not freeze up or mess with my phone. Try it out if you enjoy fishing.

  19. I like the wx forecast and tide chart that displays best time to fish. An improvement that would meet my needs would be to move the forecast to the home page. When I open the app I want to see information that will help me determine if it’s a good and safe day to venture a fising trip and peak fish times. Conversely, picture of a fellow angler holding a fish from another venue in another state or location isn’t helpful. Overall, I like the app and appreciate your interest in refining it.

  20. App is nice overall but lags when typing and at first I was interested in setting up the digital tackle box thinking I could use it to recommend lures or track catches with lures used, however when adding custom gear it absolutely needs a brand and you’re unable to add a brand. How is that custom in any way if it must be selected from pre-selected suppliers? Even Googled for a fix to no avail. So much for homemade lures and flies or older, or fringe gear that isn’t one of the big corporations.

  21. D C dice:

The cycle goes like this; I install it, try to use it, run into issues, try to get support, it goes unresolved, I uninstall. Give it another chance, reinstall, rinse and repeat. This round my login stopped working. Tried to reset password but never get the reset email. Contact support, told they’re working on it and I’ll be notified when it’s fixed. A week later I still can’t login, hear nothing from support, and now they won’t even respond to email. Not sure which is worse, the app or support.

  22. T just T dice:

Inaccurate. Also Needs a filter for bodies of water with species only. Waste a lot of time going through each one. And another thing when I accidentally exit the app in the middle of searching on the map for a good fishing location it really pisses me off that it restarts on my social feed I don’t use this app for social media I use it to fish. *Still not fixed* New problem after forced to update. Can’t scroll all the way through the list of species list. Super annoyed..

  23. This is a great fishing app. To be able to find locations, track your catches and even post and boast your catches is fantastic. You can see where others are catching fish and see what kind of bait/tackle they use. The weather and barometer portion showing you the optimal fishing times is fairly accurate. I use it every time I go fishing now. And have made some friends along the way. Keep your lines tight!

  24. Love this app, like Facebook only just for fishing. Only con is how it considers your “area of operations”. I think you should be able to put in the states you have a fishing license, instead of so many miles from your home. Where I live 3/4 of the circle are in two other states. Still love the app though.

  25. Colin C dice:

Awesome app a must have for any fisherman let’s fisherman know about local spots privately save your good ones and lets you know everything about your local rivers or lakes and even helping you identify your catch (even though I wish this feature was more accurate)but still pretty close. I do think this app would benefit from a night fishing mode for the spots and possibly some sort of angerpoint system for recommendations and maybe redeem rewards like merch or fishing gear.

  26. The map is awesome. Actually found a few new good spots! Though I noticed since I first got the app over a year ago, there has been way more adds added. But I guess ya gotta get that money

  27. Very nice for maps/GPS on a boat. Have most functionality in one place and motivating to see what others are catching. Would like tide data for more than same day, if you asked me what was important to me.

  28. Should have a better way to filter where fish were caught. I don’t care about fish at a private lake I can’t access. When showing bodies of water on the map, it should specify if it is a public/private fishing area (filtering between the 2 would be 100%) & have an icon/something showing access points with pier areas and shore fishing signified with different color/icon. Also, the Gulf of Mexico is HUGE. Maybe break it up into smaller areas like St. Petersburg, Gulfport, Clearwater ,etc.

  29. Really use the forecast times & they seem 2b very close to the bite, if not dead on it. I wish u could go BACK n log the data on a really good day & time for you personal use. I’d like to try n get a better idea when everything is just right & get some expectation of when everything is JUST right.

  30. Iza Tau dice:

This is a fish Instagram/Facebook sort of app. You can log a catch, mark a fishing spot, or make a fishing report, and you can choose if your post is private or public. When logging a catch, there’s one stage where you can put in a photo. This is cool cause when you put in the pic, it automatically recognises the fish species, and extra info about the fish. You can fill in everything about your fish, or leave most of it blank. You have a map with everyone’s catches. There’s even a fish forecast!

  31. john doe dice:

Easy to navigate great information and you can interact with others that have posted pictures of there catch and share info and tips. And hey it’s the fishing community bunch of great people. Definitely recommend this app

  32. M L dice:

I like the app, the fish activity is fairly accurate I have had and seen fish at the minor and major times. The apo didn’t get five stars because it keeps asking me to update the app but I am fully updated and once and a while it doesn’t let me read all of the notifications.

  33. App crashes often, fails to load relevant data. GPS location is rarely accurate. The main news feed is always behind by days. Needs to be developed further to be better.

  34. Wish the interface when looking at catches on the map was better, wish the lures were easier to find since not all are listed, other then small things the app is very useful and good

  35. Great app, no complaints. The recent addition of more data linked to each body of water is excellent.

  36. Barmy Nick dice:

Really enjoying using this app love the fish time predictions etc and find it very easy to use . The social media side is at finger tip .. favourite fishing locations simple & easy to use , so much better than other apps . I do rate this app 💯

  37. Yao Xiao dice:

Pretty good app to check weather, wind and tide. It would be better if it includes water depth map.

  38. So far has been an amazing app. to find new fishing areas as well as record this season’s catches. Very accurate app. as well!

  39. This app is pretty much a fishing Facebook. The only useful thing about it is the weather. I was looking for an app that actually tells information about fish. I did start to like the app after a while though.

  40. Absolutely love this app! I have had no problems with this app. I love looking at other people’s catches and sharing mine. Edit: better than fishbrain by a mile

  41. Awesome app it gives you a lot of information, am new to fishing and the app gives a lot of information that i don’t understand, but just by saying the best times for fishing that is awesome.

  42. Mat Davy dice:

Looks great. Wheres all that. Canadians. Be sweet if fishing regulations could be included Otherwise looks like a sweet app. Love all the species infi

  43. Very easy to use, goes step by step to log a catch. Finding friends is super easy as well. All in all a great app. The more you use it the better it gets.

  44. Please keep this free and great to use. It’s so much better than fishbrain because the maps are better, the usability is like fishbrains paid version. And if people really make sure they add their catch location right it’s great. It’ll encourage people to dig deeper into fishing holes they’ve never seen or heard off because the mapping is so well defined. I found 2 cool spillway spots and a backwater culdesac shaped thing that’s bagged me monster bass in a construction site.
