I discovered this app on iPhone and then decided to download it on my Android phone too. The music is very relaxing and it helps me meditate and sleep. I love the ability to download songs offline the most. However, the only thing I have been requesting is to add a repeat track button so that the song could loop indefinitely (or repeat until the user sets a sleep timer). I think it would be a very useful addition. Please add an option to repeat songs and add a sleep timer also!

  2. Release 2.0.37 contains a regression. The “sounds” feature does not remember its volume setting between sessions. Say I set it to 25% and complete a session. The next session will play sounds at the default level, say 50%, but when I open the sounds menu it then will snap back to 25%. This was an issue before but was then fixed, and this latest release brought back the problem.

This is not just the best free meditation app, but the best free app I’ve ever downloaded — absolutely no ads or need to pay for any of its features. As for the meditation sessions, there are a variety of packs covering many topics (newbie guide sessions, compassion, anxiety, sleep, etc.) with different options and features (e.g. voice, background music).

  4. *edit to say they acted quickly and state it’s fixed!* I used this app a while back and it was great. I’ve since come back to it for the timer portion and that doesn’t seem to function well. 4 out of 5 times the end chime doesn’t go off to indicate my time is up when i want it to be. Not sure what happened.

  5. This meditation app has perfect timing. At first the voice I wasn’t sure of. However, when I personally decided to open my eyes from the meditation the voice was telling me to do so as well. I was meditating on my own without knowing it. This app just helps you guide you to where you should be. I’m excited to continue and track my progress.

  6. What a great app! It has just enough explanation to get a beginner started, and then a very nice program to get you going on the road to long-term meditation. I use content from several different sources, but this is my favorite and forms the core of my practice. Simple but elegant UI, and the complete lack of ads really makes the experience.

  7. Absolutely love this app. Probably the best meditation app I’ve used so far, and the fact that everything is completely free only sweetens the deal. Great interface and high-quality audio recordings make Medito a treat to use. If you’ve been wanting to get into meditation, you have literally nothing to lose by giving this app a try, and I highly recommend that you do.

  8. I love this app. It helps my son and I both. We both have ADHD and struggle with anxiety. Guided meditations are helpful and I love the ability to change and adjust the background sound during the meditation. It’s also a very easy app to use especially as a beginner in the meditation world.

  9. This app is so pleasant and wonderful. Genuinely the nicest meditation app and it’s 100% free and there are no ads whatsoever. Low stakes meditation, no reason to feel pressured, and I personally find the sleep meditations to be so pleasant and relaxing. I’ve listened to them every single night since I downloaded it and it never gets old. Very soothing and good! One of my favorite apps and I don’t think I’ve ever said that before. Thank you for making it!

  10. It is completely free, and has lots of content for getting started in meditation. Highly suggest. I do wish there were some longer 30 min guided meditations or even just the ability to set a timer for longer time frames. But the streak counter and the daily meditations really help to begin a daily routine.

  11. A friend of mine recommended the Medito app to me and I am so happy that she did. I’ve been using the app every morning for about 2 months now and still haven’t gone through all of the meditations available. There is a large selection of different meditation to use with varying focuses. If you are new to guided meditation, this app will help you build up your routine. If you are looking for an app without the ads and one that is actually free, download Medito.

  12. Medito is, without a doubt, *the* best meditation app out there. Don’t bother with any of them that charge a fee, this one is free and zero ads; even better, this one is *good.* So many options (sleep stories, stress, anxiety, anger, among others) that no matter why you may want to meditate, Medito has a program for you, including nothing but a timer with a bell to start and end your chosen time. As I said, *the* best one out there.

  13. I use this app nightly to sleep. It is the best sleep meditation out there. The best part is it’s completely free and has No annoying ads. It’s been down for a couple of nights for maintenance and I miss it! I tried several other apps and they were terrible. I can’t wait for Medito to be back up tomorrow. If you need a good meditation app for your daily meditation or sleep, Medito is the ONLY way to go!

  14. Medito is a very comprehensive app that can be used by beginning meditators through advanced. I am so excited by the focused packs that allow me to target my meditation practice according to various emotional needs and topics. I also love that even within singular sessions there are often options for length and narrator. I am finding the sleep pack especially helpful and am thrilled that there is so much more to explore. So far I would qualify my experience as fantastic.

  15. I’m new to meditation and although I’ve tried a couple of other apps before I’ve never been able to stick to it. But Medito has changed it completely – now I can hardly wait for the next session. It’s very simple to use, well laid out, the narrators’ voices are pleasant, it’s add-free and truly free ( but I believe there are many people like me who are willing to make a donation since the developers absolutely deserve it!).

  16. I love this app and that it is completely free because mental health care should be accessible. Also really enjoy the sounds feature on the app. Since I started meditating using Medito’s app and website, I found I reduced stress eating by probably 90%, fall asleep far easier, and feel much calmer. I love the different focused sessions too so that I can turn to a particular topic for a specific issue I’m trying to cope with. Thank you Medito.

  17. Of all the meditation apps I’ve used, this is the best one I’ve used. It is very simplistic, while not lacking any of the programs that a premium app would offer. The 30 day Meditation challenge is amazing and teaches you so much. There are daily Meditation as well, but after all of the guided meditation, you can easily Meditate on your own. I love this app and I think it’s better than apps like headspace if you really put in the time to explore it.

  18. Medito is hands down the best free meditation app, and I’ve tried many of them (most aren’t ACTUALLY “free”). There are tons of guided meditations with various focuses, sleep stories, and a couple different choices of voices. Most importantly, no ads, and no begging you to upgrade or subscribe to something. The interface is simple and clean, and I haven’t had a single bug. Excellent app.

  19. Overall I adore the app and the sessions. It’s awesome to have high quality sessions without needing to pay. That said, I feel the pauses in the sessions are a bit too long, so when I’m trying to ease into sleep I get startled and my heart races. 🙁 I think maybe shortening the length of the pauses in the sessions would be helpful. I still recommend the app though because it’s 100% free and overall excellent quality.

  20. I really enjoy this app, but after months of use it becomes repetitive since no new meditations are available. Even the daily meditation feels like it doesn’t change. Also, the skip in the sound loops are distracting. Lastly, I like that you can choose different amounts of time to meditate, but most categories are too short for me. I love to see all have 30 minutes…or more. Great app for beginners!

  21. It’s a wonderful app! I think it might be glitching this update, but they will fix it. I’m grateful that it’s free. You can choose from a male or female voice for most lessons. You can choose the background noise you want or not have any at all. You can just have background noise for . You can choose from sessions targeted towards anxiety, depression, stress. You have quick sessions for emergencies to help you calm down. Plus you have choices for different types of background noises.

  22. This is an awesome app! We seriously don’t deserve its greatness. I am new to meditation, and have yet found a way to really get into it, until now. It allows you to start slow with short time periods, and guided meditation. I love the background sounds. I started using the night sounds for bed, and it helps me fall asleep faster. I even use the daily feature to help me focus at work. Definitely recommend. Oh and the best part…..ABSOLUTELY ZERO ADS!

  23. Ninja19 dice:

Love the app. Multiple audio librarys, downloadable and offline listening, super sleek look, no ads, different voices, and background audio toggling…? Some things sound too good to be true, this isn’t one of them. I personally like the speaking breaks in between audio, it doesn’t feel like things getting forced down your throat, and gives you time to actually be a little introspective. I wish there were more tracks on the “Low Mood” pack, but love them none-the-less.

  24. I love it so far…I do want to say two things though. First, I think you should be able to turn down volume for the background sound/music when you turn it on it seems to compete with the spoken part. And second…the automatic “music” for the body scan was not relaxing to me at all, maybe there should be an option not to have that one.

  25. Excellent meditation app, so good, it’s hard to believe that it’s free! Quality and variety of content is excellent, app is simple, attractive, and uncomplicated, works smoothly all the time, has excellent features and options. I use for daily meditation, as well as falling sleep. Highly, highly recommend for supporting a healthy meditation practice and calm mind. AND they are engaged in adding new content and updating the interface to make it even easier to use.

  26. Addy Fish dice:

I am a counselor and student advisor/teacher and this is hands down the best meditation app out there right now that I’ve found. It’s ridiculously hard to find one that is completely free, calming to use, and accessible. This is all of those things, and I’m recommending it to everyone left and right – students, colleagues, clients, everyone. My only one tiny improvement to suggest would be including a female voice option as a narrator. I never write reviews, but this one is worth it.

  27. The apps completely free, just as advertised. Ive struggled to find a good meditation app because to use any of the courses I’d like to, i have to pay a monthly subscription, and when your on a budget, its hard to justify spending money on an app instead of food or bills. The app itself is easy to use, i can choose what kind, if any, background noise, and even change just the background noise’s volumne once Ive started the meditiation class. Overall, I’d definately reccomend at least trying it!

  28. M Ladetto dice:

Great simple but comprehensive meditation application. Lots of variety allowing the application to be set up and used on an individual basis. My only issue is with the background sounds. The volume of these background accompanying sounds is so loud they are startling. Hopefully in future updates, there will be a way to adjust the volume so that background sounds like the wind chimes are faintly heard and not a distraction

  29. New favorite! Only one request… can we get more voice options on some of these meditations? Mainly for Sleep ones? I LOVE the female voices because they are the only ones that can relax me (as a survivor of recent trauma at the hands of a man) and the fact that it’s free, supportive of black lives, has an amazing interface, and options for time/sounds/tones/music is incredible! It’s just beautiful in every way. I adore everyone involved in this app. Thank you.

  30. It’s a great app. Yes, it’s barebones, but that’s its strength. As someone with ADHD, I find some of heavy music production and plentiful talking during guided meditations to be really distracting. Medito sticks to the basics, focusing you on building a meditation practice you can sustain long-term. I’ve sampled a bunch of the meditations and I’m currently working through the beginners’ course with my middle schooler to help her deal with daily stress. We’re loving this app.

  31. Finally a great app that helps beginners start meditating without having to sell their right arm. This app it completely free and also has no ads. I really love all the options it gives. The starter steps for beginners explains different ways to meditate and gradually increases the time you meditate. You can meditate anywhere from 3 to 20 minutes. It also allows you to download the lessons to use offline. Honestly I really can’t find anything wrong with the app. Love it!

  32. One of the best and most comprehensive free meditation app I’ve used. No ads and lots of options to customize for each session. There really is no need for any other app. I’ve done the 30 day challenge, used the sleep meditations, used the loving-kindness meditations, and looking forward to using the ambient noises. Great introducing to several different types of meditations. Can say enough awesome things about this app.

  33. Using this two weeks now and it is just the right approach for me. No tire ins to a corporate structure trying to sell you something. Instead it is just about the meditation. There are links to donate, but very low key. I like the default voice but there are other options. It provides a guided path to gain experience but you can choose any of the sessions any time you want.

  34. I rarely write app reviews, but Medito is such a valuable resource that I felt compelled to! Very well designed app with both meditations and short lectures. There are lots of great options for customization: for all sessions I’ve done, I have the option to chooses different speakers and different lengths. Only complaint is that it appears to wait to download the entire audio before playing a session rather than just stream it, so there’s a ~5 second delay after you hit play. Certainly not a major issue though!

  35. No ads, No tricks. Just meditation. If you’re new to meditation, I recommend the 30 day challenge where everyday you try to take time to meditate for a month. It’s a great way to get into habit. This app offers free sound tracks and music as well! It even has sound tracks if you’re feeling down or negative. I usually dont rate apps, but I am so satisfied, it’s the least I can do to support the app. Thanks!

  36. Medito is great for learning to meditate because it has multiple types of meditations so that you can find one that fits your style, with each having options for different voices, ambient noises, lengths, etc. It is clearly still a work in progress more features are still being developed, but the core aspects are there and done very well for such a basic app. I like it is better than other pay apps that look fancier but don’t have as many types of meditation.

  37. This app is really, really nice! I have bad anxiety and suffer from panic attacks, and mediating is very good at helping me with my symptoms. The voices are clear and calming, and the optional background noise is quite relaxing. Plus, with the option of listening to the guided meditations offline, I don’t have to worry about missing my favorite sessions. Furthermore, I absolutely love that nothing is stuck behind a paywall! This app is one of the best!

  38. Hannah H dice:

This app is incredible and the fact that it’s free is amazing because it makes it accessable to many more people. However, one thing I would really love to be added to the app in the future is a playlist ability. I have severe insomnia and I have several hours of guided meditations in a YouTube playlist for sleeping to, but sometimes ads will wake me up and the meditations are at different volumes. So I was really hoping Medito would have a playlist feature.

  39. Fantastic app. Love the gradual easing into meditation. Love the option to skip beginner lessons for those who don’t need them. Love the guides (although i often avoid Will, he reminds me too much of Casey Kasem, it’s distracting) and the choices of background sounds, or none at all. I just wish they would reduce volume of those sounds. I don’t like silence but the only background that doesn’t drown out the voice is spring field, and that one includes a constant fly buzzing. Not bee. Fly. Yuck.

  40. One of the best meditation apps I have used. I have been enjoying the 30 day challenge and there is quite the variety of meditations in the app. I also like periodic reminders about what I should be doing during the 7 to 10 minute sessions. The only improvement I would suggest is to allow users to sync progress across devices. I use a different cell phone when I head into the office and I have to remember what session I am on when I switch.
