  1. I use this almost daily…. I drive a ton with my job and average around $28 a month cash back. My main issue with the app is if you type in a town in the search bar to see what’s there it ALWAYS brings you back to where your actually at and then you have to move the map perspective to where you want to look. Other than that it’s incredibly easy to use and save……

  2. At first there were 2-3 different gas stations to choose from sometimes. (Companies, not the locations). Now it’s always and only one company and of course it’s one of the most expensive ones. The prices on the app usually don’t reflect the actual price the stations are charging. Needs more participation from other gas stations. When I was able to find deals from the stations I actually frequent, I enjoyed using the app. Unfortunately, that’s just not the case anymore.

  3. This app is awesome! Honestly, it does take a little while to buid up enough to get over $10.00 cash back, but hey, it’s definitely better than nothing! My only complaint is the occasional inaccuracies of the gas prices at some of the locations, but that would easily be fixed if more of the users would take a minute and update the prices to the correct prices when they are showing wrong. Also, it is really nice how it lets you correct the prices if needed! I would defintely recommend this app!

  4. When I first installed it, the prices were right but lately, they’ve been showing lower than what it actually is at the station. Anywhere from a .10 to a .20 difference. I drive to the stations with the lowest prices that are close by only to find out it’s more than what the app shows. The app is updated, I’ve reinstalled it too and it’s still not showing the correct prices. Hope this gets fixed soon.

  5. It’s a little tricky to get used to. You have to ‘claim’ an offer when you are nearby. It shows you the offers when you launch the app. Then when you arrive you ‘check in’. Note: do NOT check in until you are actually there! I checked in from the street in front of the business and I was denied and lost the deal. You give it only some of the numbers for your card and it verifies it later and adds it to your account. BUT I also just cashed out $57.00 for 1 years refunds. Cool!

  6. I drive a truck and use the app all the time. I’ve averaged over $600 the last 2 years that I have used the app. That’s just in fuel expenses. Lately i have been using it on restatement near me and it’s been great! My only complaint is the app used to show month by month earnings and pending transactions no it doesn’t. It’s kind of a bummer now that I can’t compare months and years.

  7. Meagan A dice:

It’s useful when you’re getting gas at a station that probably isn’t your norm. However, it seems to be only exxon or others that are always more expensive. One thing which I took off stars for is you CANNOT use the app without location on. I don’t enjoy being tracked, and it drains my battery so I don’t want it on. Why can’t I view my account or places with cash back WITHOUT turning the location on? Also, if I hit the locate button, it doesn’t stay there it reverts to a cash back location.

  8. Sam Love dice:

Very please at how much I saved and/or am returned money every time I purchase gas or eat out at a restaraunt. It’s like a little present, every time I open up the app and see how my balance increases and doesn’t decrease, until I decide to cash out… Thank You Upside! I don’t know why anyone wouldn’t want to put money back into their pockets with a few touches of their phone screen. Good Job! Great App!

  9. For the most part, it is a great app. Worth using, especially for someone like me who travels the whole country for work. However, it has holes in it on the merchant side of it. I am getting about 5% of my claims rejected when I did everything I was supposed to do. I suspect there are shady merchants who wiggle out of their end of the deal by conveniently not finding your purchase. Upside should try to fix whatever weakness there is that allows for merchants to game the system.

  10. The app continues to get easier to use, and glitches appear to be worked out over time; so I am raising my rating. The restaurant and grocery store options are improving as well. If one can end up with $60.00 back in one’s bank account, for doing the shopping and dining one would have done anyway, every quarter, that’s real money earned through little effort by the end of a year.

  11. Herr Tiem dice:

Definately worth it for the little amount of effort you have to put in. It’s not much savings every time but if you just keep accumulating money in the app you’ll have quite a bit saved up depending on how much you drive. I’ve been using this for 5 months and accumulated about $100. I only drive about 25 miles a day total. Plus you can save on groceries too. Customer service is also responsive and easy to get ahold of when you email them.

  12. I constantly have a reoccurring issue where I have to send an email for my cash back to be manually entered because the address differs on the receipt and store then what is on Google Maps. It has went on for over a year and it is the location that I stop at most. I have been told several times that it was going to be fixed but like earlier stated it has went on for over a year. Other than that the other locations work great would like to give it more stars.

  13. J Dee dice:

Used to be a great app, but lately it just wastes a lot of time and money. The sole purpose is to provide discounted prices. But if many of the advertised prices aren’t accurate, then you drive out of your way for nothing (which has not only cost you extra time, but now also extra money). You can submit issues through the app, but get no response and unable to contact through email. SO FRUSTRATING!

  14. The cash back for filling up is great. But it’s frustrating to go out of my way to certain stations for higher rewards and it continually not find this transactions. Then there’s no way to go add a receipt to just make it faster after a transaction, which would guarantee those 12+ for max amounts filled up I’ve missed out on.

  15. Great system. Sometimes the app is a little clunky, especially if you don’t have really good reception wherever you Happen to be driving. If you don’t have good reception the app doesn’t work because it starts loading the map as soon as you open it & you can’t do anything else while that’s happening.

  16. Sometimes I forget to check what the pop up, that shows me what is not showing up, says is not showing up. And I get rid of my receipts. Now I am saving them in case of an issue. Overall, this is a great app. Especially if you are using the Fetch app also, which gives you a ton of points for 30 plus receipts from Casey’s!!! Double YES!!!

  17. Update: 2022 still awesome! New (now ol feature that you just input your credit card and when you use it the points go on automatically. That’s a lot easier! Works great. I cash out after 10$ and have gotten back 80$ so far! They take some out if you transfer to a bank account but the gift cards they offer are just as good/better like Amazon, Dunkin, Walmart w/ no fee!

  18. Really doesn’t work. I’ve entered my credit card information, check in and follow the prompts at the pump with no luck. It always says ” you’re all set” but than expires after 10 days. I have emailed customer support which has been good ( they issue credit) but they’ve yet to figure why it won’t work as it should. I’ve verified credit card info with them, sent receipts and it still doesn’t work. I’m super disappointed and I don’t have the time to email and email over 25 so far. Upside fix

  19. Susan Lacy dice:

My experience is negative. I follow all the steps and I don’t earn. I drive further to get the deal and then, no compensation back. I should be at 15.00 earned and in my account but one proof of purchase no matter how many times I took the photo of the receipt it wouldn’t check off all the criteria. The second place, the receipt was good, the picture was good, and it’s still pending. I’m about to uninstall. It can take up to 10 days to “process”…3 more days to go. We’ll see!!!

  20. DeWitt dice:

Sometimes it works. Sometimes it expires and says you didn’t complete the process even though you followed instructions exactly. It seems like they constantly switch back and forth between requiring receipt pictures and remote verification, probably to confuse the user and ensure plausible deniability over missing rewards. The money they offer keeps getting lower while the data they collect increases.

  21. It’s a great app. Rewards are minimal but they add up. I can’t in good faith give more than 3 stars due to 1 big limitation, cash! 50% of the time I go to the gas station, I pay with cash. Upside does not give rewards for cash transactions (despite the ability to provide receipts). I get that having the card number makes it easier to verify but in 2022 when companies are getting hacked left & right, I have trust issues. Yes cash is old school but it’s easy & safe. So 3 stars all day.

  22. I’m happy with how now I don’t have to take a picture of my receipt anymore. I always had a hard time remembering when to do that every time. I would love for the app to have more deals for restaurants and groceries in my area. The app only shows one restaurant in my are. All in all, still a good app.

  23. It works, but they don’t really honor the referral credits like they say. I claimed an offer for .35 and they applied a referral credit to a lesser pending offer I had. Adding your credit card to the app seems buggy, so I take pictures of all my purchases and submit them. It takes about 7-10 days to get the credit. I’ve even had to resubmit my receipts to get credit because they didn’t process in time. Just remember to save the physical copies of every receipt until you get your credit back.

  24. Super easy to use, app uses you location so if you go to a place that you get cash back for and open the app it’ll automatically pull it up. Just a could clicks you’re good when going to grocery stores. Some gas stations you have to upload the receipt and others are linked to the app like the grocery stores. I don’t use this much for gas cuz I only get a few cents back at most of them but I’ve made over $100 back going to the grocery store.

  25. Over the last 6 months, I have cleared a little over $200 and sent it to my pay pal account. That sounds great, but it should have been much more, probably almost double that amount. Several times they simply did not give me any credit at all or they did not pay what they offered. This happens more frequently at certain stations which I simply quit going to. Overall it is free money and I am glad ro have it!

  26. It used to be great, but I have none of the grocery options that people I referred have! And yes, we live in the same area. Frustrating that I can’t save the same money as people I told the about the app. I have tried customer service, sent them a video, even reinstalled the app and updated it. No luck. Just gas and resturants.

  27. Lisa Gray dice:

I just cashed in for the third time! This makes $30 I’ve earned so far. I just “cash in” when I hit $10 and I get it as a credit on my Amazon account. Of course you can choose from a lot of other ways to get the money, including into your bank account. It’s SO easy to use! Never had a single issue with claiming an offer. I 100% recommend Upside! I’m raven earning money when people I referred get fuel. It’s definitely a WIN with Upside!!

  28. Lex dice:

Update: Changing my rating from 2 stars to 4. The app has been working significantly better lately. I was also pleasantly surprised when I had to contact support recently, the issue I was having was corrected quickly and without incident. I’d really like for this app to continue to expand their offers to even more businesses.

  29. The app started out great. There were many grocery stores and gas stations in my area offering very good discounts. Now there are only a few gas stations and most are $0.03 off. There are some that are a little more but further away. There are no longer any grocery stores on the app. Under restaurants there are only 4 and the list hasn’t changed since I downloaded the app a couple of months ago. I no longer use the app because I refuse to use inferior gas (non-top tier) to save less than $0.50.

  30. Tammy dice:

UPDATE. 8/31/2022 opened app and the setting button has changed side, its ok but there is no history know…. why? Can’t keep track of long credits. Usually 6-9 days. Very poor!! app is getting better, some still dont register and you have to contact support after you get your denial email. But other than a few glitches it truly is getting better. I still prefer to upload my receipt. I truly dislike the check in feature now. TRULY SUCKS!!!. Hope you can fix this problem!! 😭😥😢

  31. Absolute waste of time and effort, all to get your credit card information and spending habits. This app came through once, after jumping through lots of hoops, with the payout and then always has an excuse to decline the deal that is impossible to find in the first place. If you want to drive around wasting your time giving out your credit card info, boy is this the app for you.

  32. KEEP ALL PAPER RECEIPTS I didn’t get the full credit as advertised because my credit card gives cash back bonuses with every purchase!!! If it were a paper receipt, there would not be any “cash back” shown. The first 2 transactions went through fine but then 3 transactions back to back at gas stations all came back as “not enough information”. I responded to the email and had to send screenshots of the credit card transactions, because of course the gas station pump printers didn’t work.

  33. Eric Walls dice:

Once you pick a place though, it is hard to pull up a map. I have to click on the “directions” twice and even then it doesn’t really give directions, It just shows where it is on a map compared to where you are. I have a general idea where the, say, gas station is, then I have to cut and paste the address into to my map app.

  34. Me dice:

Easy to use. The site delivers on its promises, which is rare. There are only two minor issues:. there are currently no grocery stores and a couple of restaurants available & of you use Google pay or similar service instead of the actual card, then the transaction isn’t recognized. However, after they processing times out, Upside gladly will manually process your discount if you upload a receipt or back statements. Thank you!

  35. S T dice:

The savings just adds up and has so many establishments to choose from during travels, love the app!! I travel for work so gassing up is always needed, and the savings is kinda addicting, looking for the best deals, with so many options. I rather enjoy using the app and it’s very easy. The option to cash out to my bank is so easy and convenient too.

  36. There are a lot of places in my area that would likely benefit from being partnered with the app that aren’t. Otherwise, this app is great. It’s quick and simple to use, and I’ve made $50 in 2 months spending 30 seconds 2-3 times a week. I used the cash back to buy a new water filter for my fridge, next purchase is gonna be a new PS5 controller, cause the lady broke hers.

  37. Started using upside in Feb 22 with lots of great offers and options. Was very happy with it. Now I have very few locations to pick from and not as good of offers. No grocery stores anymore in my area. Also find that my husband and I get different offers for the same locations. His app has even less offers than mine but usually his gas offers are better than mine.

  38. I mean it’s okay, but I wish there were more options for gas stations than there are. It would make saving money much easier. Plus charging a dollar for a less than $10 cash out? I’ve made less then $10 in the few months I’ve had the app and now I’m getting less of it because I decided to cash it out when it was under $10? I think that part is ridiculous. And I’d rather the money get into my Upside account sooner; Fetch gives you points instantly, so I don’t get why Upside takes several days.

  39. Great app, easy and convenient so getting cash back doesn’t take loads of time. I love it because I still fuel up at the same places but now get cash back. Just cashed out with $20 in almost a month of my normal commute. I recommend to anyone who cares about saving and budgeting. It’s a no brainer here If you’re active on social media you can easily pad your bank account by sharing with people. Great set up Thank you Highly recommend to all

  40. Easy to use great to find prices on gas and discounts also on food. Nice to be able to put your favorite stations in there. Savings may not seem like they’re significant but they add up. Watch for stations that hike their price… I use GasBuddy to verify prices at the gas station that they match what’s in this app. That used to happen a lot more early on in the app and I think that they’re using better verification now. I really like it I’ve shared it with a lot of friends I recommend it.
