  1. It seems that no matter what service I have, the app only works every so often. In the past week I have tried to find out what two songs were and both were unable to be found and when I go into my pending search and try again, it still says unable to find song. Disappointed because a few years ago I never had any problems. Now it seems to be nothing but problems and never able to find songs I want to look up! 😡😡 If the problem persists, I will delete this app and find a better one!

  2. I used to LOVE this app . When I first installed it, probably 10 years ago, it could find ANY song. NOW ALL IT DOES IS GIVE ME ERROR MESSAGES. It also gives me the message that it can’t understand or hear. I used to whistle or hum some pretty obscure songs and it would take me right to what I was looking for. Now it can’t even pick out Madonna. After installing this on every smartphone I’ve had. I’m going to give it up because it no longer works. It started out as a great app. Not anymore.

  3. I’ve always had this app installed and use it occasionally, and the results are accurate most of the time. But I was diagnosing short battery life on my phone and discovered from BatteryGuru that it issued hundreds of wakelocks per hour on the microphone. When I suspended Soundhound, battery life dramatically improved. So, best case is the app is poorly written and hasn’t updated power management since Android 6. Worst case is that it’s using the mic to spy on me. Either way, goodbye.

  4. Takes almost 30 second for this app to start, so that you can used it to listen to the song, hopefully it’s not at the end? It used to be much faster loading experience. If you ever have a less then perfect Internet connection, the app acts like it doesn’t know what you’re singing or listening to. I think they make themselves look bad with that, it should just say “I’ll look that up when your internet doesn’t suck.”

  5. I’m not sure why but SoundHound has become terrible on music identifications. I’ve Uninstalled it and reinstalled without success. I’ve restarted my Samsung Note 20 with success also. I’m using Android 12 with all the latest upgrades. The competitor has no problem with the same songs. I’ve got my library in SoundHound and don’t want to switch but it’s just not as reliable as the other

  6. I’ve been using this app for years and years, and it’s time to stop defending it. SoundHound is incapable of identifying even moderately unpopular songs. It seems like if it’s not got A grade listening metrics, SoundHound just has no idea what a song is. The other two major music recognition apps don’t struggle like this at all. Honestly, it feels like a relic of the past and it should fade into obscurity unless the developers really come to terms with their products shortcomings.

  7. My favorite search app ever. I’m pretty sure my brain is 90% song lyrics and music fuels my life. When I hear a song that I have to hear again but have never heard before, I hit the S and 99% of the time it pulls up the artist and song with as little as a 3 second clip.. Best app ever!! ….P.S. if you’re connected to Spotify, everytime you like a searched song it can be loaded directly into your Spotify without you having to do anything.

  8. App has been working great for the past (almost) decade. I honestly don’t really use it much, but when I do I have like a 93% success rate in finding exactly what I was looking for. The remaining 7% are usually from audio that’s hot a ton of background noise, has been edited a lot from the standard version or I get a song that’s from a cover band or something,or the app just happened to grab a short clip that’s borrowed from another song so it doesn’t know exactly what it’s from. Just try again.

  9. The sound identification has nearly always worked flawlessly for me. There are some music player features added recently that I’d like to see improvements on. My main complaint is that there is no background playback ability. You have to have the app open with the screen on to listen to music that you’ve searched for. My second complaint is that the player has to reload the music you are listening to if you are trying to navigate to other things within the app. This is quite disruptive. Another thing I’d really like to see implemented on the player is to have the lyric sync feature. That’s a really cool addition to the listening capability of this app, I don’t know why you couldn’t have it on the music player part of it too. One more thing, after leaving the app for a while, it will reset itself from the music playback. I was listening to an album by Shinedown, and I was about half way through it, but now I have to search for it again and find out which song I was on. I’ll gladly come back and update to five stars, and I’d even pay for the premium version of this app if these features get fixed. This app has some real potential for people who are into music discovery.

  10. Perfection!!!! Will this app, you can identify nearly any bit if music that is detected via your device’s microphone. This means that the next time you are at work and all of a sudden you hear one of your old favorites playing in the office radio but you cannot recall the name of the song or the band that performed the song, this app makes identification of the song effortless. All you need to do is run this app and click the “Identify” button. In about 10 seconds, SoundHound will listen to the sound and then provide the name of the song, the names of the authors of the song. In most cases, the app will also provide the lyrics OR a link to an external website which will provide the lyrics. I have used this app to identify hundreds of songs and in all those searchs, the app has only failed to identify the song one time.

  11. Alex Shaw dice:

Easy to operate. It’s straight to the point; as you know the song is about to end, you’ll always have enough time to open, press “listen” (that is a HUGE button), and it’ll pick it up. And if that song isn’t on record, you can press “save sound” for really knew songs that it will add soon. Also, the history of all the songs I’ve recorded us an awesome feature! Unfortunately, playback of a list of songs is not it’s strong suit.

  12. I am giving this app a mediocre review for the main reason that around half of the time I use it to scan a song it does not work. Regardless of internet connection, it scans for up to 10 seconds and then gives me the “no close match found”. That’s a little annoying. Other than that it is good and I enjoy that it links to Spotify if I want to play a new song I just discovered.

  13. Used to be quite good, and I have hundreds of songs saved in it for when I go shopping for new MP3s. Sadly, after the 3/3/2020 update, it basically doesnt work anymore… it rarely finds songs, and actually can’t hear music as well as before. The GUI is ugly/awkward too (can’t tell if it’s listening or what, and you can completely forget using it safely while in the car), but I could live with that if it at least still worked. Hoping for a quick update to restore it back to actual functionality.

  14. This app needs help! I’ve been using it for years never speaking about the issues that it has. Hoping with time and as many times that it has been updated. The issues would be fixed by now. For instance the Mute Spoken Response does not work. It activates on its own in the middle of a song and stops the flow, which is irritating. I have over a thousand songs on the app and I can’t listen to several of them due to the songs being skipped. No matter how many times I uninstall and reinstall the app

  15. Boy you guys were good and I don’t know how you guys messed it up. It takes longer time to search, sometimes don’t even capture sound when I am right next to it. It would take me several times to actually get the results. I thought it was my phone’s microphone issues but no, I kept using your app as I switched phones. The user experience is still bad. Especially you guys had the new user interface that makes no sense. The orange circle I am talking about but I run out of space to complain.

  16. Astonishingly accurate even under difficult conditions (far from sound source, noise, etc.) I’ve tried it on music that I thought would be too obscure for it to recognize, but it has only been unable to correctly identify one of these “test” items. That’s accuracy very close to 99%+. It’s also a great source of information related to music and artists. A must-have app.

  17. I’ve installed, uninstalled, reinstalled, and finally just uninstalled this app for the last time. Almost every time I try to open this app it crashes immediately. When it doesn’t crash it’s extremely slow to respond and eventually it crashes anyway. I’m sad because the first time I installed it it worked perfectly for awhile. I had to reset my phone and reinstalled the app and it just hasn’t worked well since. I liked this app more than the other music finder apps.

  18. Mr 617 dice:

It’s a good app. Albeit, slow to start up, incase you’re in a rush to catch the song before it ends. Also, it has issues reading older classic songs. Unless that song is very popular, whether or not it recognizes an finds it is a hit or miss. With that being said, it’s a must have. Very Convenient tool to have for what it does.

  19. David dice:

Had the app for several months now without any issues. I had over 2,000 songs saved. Then, all of a sudden, I check my song history and it only shows 30 songs from that day! I log out to refresh it, log back in, and now, no songs are there. I’m not sure if it’s a bug or glitch, because I know that I never cleared my history since first installing this app. Please help!

  20. Sound Hound is an amazing app for those who don’t know a song and want to. As long as the song is playing and it isn’t a live song, it will tell you what it is along with providing audio samples on most if not all. This way you can see if it really is the correct song just in case it wasn’t correct. There isn’t a real need to worry about about that though because 9.8 times out of 10 it is correct in my experience. I have only used it on a Galaxy S6 and a Galaxy Note 8 though. Thank you!

  21. soundhound is totally awesome. it can identify any song (songs I’ve looked up) even if they are clips from movies. it’s data base of music delves into to obscure to the modern. it has truly expanded my horizons in all genre of music. it’s an app that is unparalleled to other apps. you wont be disappointed, if anything, your knowledge base will also be expanded. so long as you love music, willing to give it all a chance, you can’t loose. music is the essence of life. enjoy !!

  22. Julia dice:

I’ve had and used this app for many years to look up songs. It used to work great, but the last couple years it seems unable to identify a lot of songs played to it no matter what I try. Shazam used to have more issues, but I’ve recently found it now works well and quickly too. I feel bad abandoning SoundHound after using it for so long, but at this point it’s not doing much for me. I’ll probably give it one last chance and if it doesn’t work I’ll uninstall. Very disappointing.

  23. I can’t believe I haven’t reviewed SoundHound; I’ve been using it for years. It’s really, really good. It’s figured out some obscure songs where I work (a spa). It’s given me the information to build a better music library and lyrics really help. SoundHound works for music in a lot of languages and styles. I honestly had to scratch my head to remember if there are ads. There are, but they are not INVASIVE. I always recommend to everyone. Great app; I hope it never goes away. Thank you, devs!

  24. I don’t need song recommendations. For identifying a song that you are hearing loudly through a speaker, it’s great! For songs that you hum or sing to it for it to identify, it does not find the right one, or even anything remotely similar. Some of the results are linked to music apps though, so that’s useful, you can play it straight from results instead of looking for it through another app to listen. Uninstalled on my old device to save resources, it automatically tried to reinstall, odd.

  25. 7 1/2 times out of 10 it’ll find the song you’re looking for… Unless it’s something really obscure. I’ve been pleased the app especially since you can sign in and save your discoveries. I had to delete the app to make room on my phone for a little bit, and everything was back where it was when I signed in and after I added the app back on my phone again.

  26. It hasnt changed much over the years, which helps my familiarity with interface over the years. Have always used this over other song recognition apps. A little keeps a history of songs I have checked that way I can always go back and find out what I need to download or learn about. The auto-scrolling lyrics are great as well. I’m sure there are many other great features, but I’m happy with what I use.

  27. Giving this 2 stars bc it saves all the songs you discover, in the history so you can look back and find them later which is nice. But unfortunately it fails at identifying songs more often than at finding them. And the most recent update has made it even worse. Has not worked one time at identifying anything yet. Could be imagining it, but when I first downloaded it years ago it was so reliable. Really wish it worked better because this was my “go-to” for the longest time 🙁

  28. It’s pretty good at finding things, but it does have trouble finding most songs I have it scan. For example I scanned “Desert Sky” by Silent Partner, and SoundHound said it was some random person (I won’t name) who used the song for a poem song thing on YouTube. This random dude gets full credit AND the song title is wrong. And again, most things I can don’t even get results. To be fair I don’t listen to the top of the charts kind of cookie cutter music you hear on the radio.

  29. Sound Hound is what the other song and lyric search “engines” should be, Accurate, Free, and easy to use – without ads – without crashing – and without being hassled to use the so-called Premium/Pay version. So, if you want a Sound/Music search app to teach you to play an instrument, sing in key, or double as a sound mixer…. Sound Hound isn’t for you. But if you want an app to find the song you are looking for, this is it!

  30. Kylie S dice:

This app is amazing for what I need it for! (Mostly radio and in stores and stuff) HOWEVER I can say comfortably that though I don’t often use it by humming or singing the words, it isn’t very sensitive with those uses. If youre trying to hum, it has to be pretty loud, and it doesn’t seem to work well if you only know a small phrase or a few words along with humming. So choose one. But for how I use it it’s great!

  31. Edit: no longer works until you update. I mistook this developer for one of the good ones. || Second edit || THEY DELETED MY HISTORY AGAIN. Screw this app. Disregard my original review ahead || Edit: it doesn’t even get songs right anymore. What happened?! || It works on a huge variety of music, and saves a recording if it fails. It never forces updates and works perfectly anyway. This is a robust, well developed app that works quickly and consistently. I wish more apps were this good.

  32. this has helped me with so many songs. even songs I wasn’t expecting it to in other languages!! it’s only missed a few songs here and there but I think it was the sound quality mostly (too quiet and far and too blasting loud). but I’ve loved this app and can’t tell you how many times I rushed to my phone and caught it right at the end! 6 stars!

  33. I used to LOVE this but since the update it fails to recognize almost every song I try. These aren’t obscure songs either (Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, etc.). If there isn’t a fix soon I’m afraid I’ll be uninstalling and using one of your competitors. *UPDATE* After a recent update I am cautiously optimistic the app has been fixed. So far it’s working again. I’m upating my eating from 2 starts to 4. I’ll update here again in a few weeks if anything changes.

  34. Nice app for what it does, but more and more it’s not recognizing songs without 2 or 3 tries and I’m not talking about in a noisy environment, but recorded music in a quiet room and I get pop-ups asking if someone is humming. No! It’s recorded music! It’s basically non functional. Couldn’t find Watermelon Kisses? Really? My phone was right next to the speakers!

  35. albeit I am not really one for writing reviews, I thought I should take part in this one because since I’ve been using SoundHound which is been a couple of years now,I have really been pleased with the software of this program because it efficiently and, most of the time very quickly picks up about 99% of the time. not only provide you with the title, but cover art the songs as well. It’s nice to be able to pick up the songs right then and there when you want them… also presents a history.

  36. This app is awesome. It quickly identifies any playing songs and it also finds lyrics for many of them. It also keeps a record of songs so I can remember them later if I want to download them or buy them. Its advertising supported, but the ads arnt obnoxious or intrusive. It occasionally fails to recognize a song but this is quite rare and involves obscure songs that are usually just as difficult to identify outside of SoundHound. App bugs are fixed quickly ounce reported, in my experience.

  37. I used this app all the time. But for the last few months, it would have a hard time keeping the connection while plyaing music. No matter if over wifi or not, the connection would get lost. It wouldn’t connect to Spotify, and once it did make a connection it couldn’t keep it. It won’t let me add songs to my Spotify playlist, or any other playlist for that matter. And just recently it won’t keep me logged in. No matter where I’m logged on, it keeps saying there was an error and makes me log back in. So, I’m uninstalling and switching to Shazam. Boo.

  38. I can’t tell if the updates are causing the disruptions but I can’l tell you they’ve only gotten worse over the years. Songs that I was listening to yesterday are now cutting off halfway through, some songs aren’t playing at all, and there’s no rhyme or reason to either. Every time I open the app, it asks me to long in. If you boot me out in the middle of a song, I wouldn’t have to continue to do that. It’s 2018, do better. PS, don’t get me started on how the link up with Spotify has never worked properly. Good in theory, lacking in execution.

  39. Works for identifying music better than anything else, but there is absolutely no reason for it to run constantly in the background and pop extra notifications (which are ads) on your phone. I’m okay with ads WHILE I’M USING an app, but when I’m not, GO AWAY. To clarify; there is no question here, just invasive behaviour intended to make money. It’s an outright invasive app which won’t stop trying to do things in the background, serve ads, and notifications.

  40. Used to love this app, now… someone better get fired. I wouldn’t call whatever they have done to it an “Update”. Can’t find anything most of the time, even with full bars and wifi, at least 1/3 of the time, the detected music, does Not match the playing music. Too bad, and yes! When try using the app and doesn’t work, I close it and open Shazam and work right away under the same situation. Uninstalling 👎☹
