  1. Great concept, but poor execution. My main complaint is that whenever I use the app, it disables my Bluetooth headset. Mind you, these are GOOGLE HEADPHONES! Every time I use the app it happens. It depends on the day, but they divert audio every two minutes to every couple hours. And it’s not like the headphones are disconnected or that Bluetooth is turned off somehow, it just disables audio output through my headphones. The only way I’ve found to fix it is to turn Bluetooth off and on again.

Duo was better!! You could set up a call much easier! This is very clunky with too many steps. I make the “call”, I have to then send an invite which sends a link to Duo!!! The other pary clicks the link, then has to click on “call” to “call me back”. Duo was so much easier, especially when you have to work with someone who is not tech savvy. If you are trying to compete with IOS, you got a way to go.

  3. Not sure what’s going on with this one, because it’s not showing links to scheduled meetings (meeting links are on Google calander and in gmail), it’s calling itself “Google Meet (Original) with a slightly different icon on my device), which is very confusing. Video and audio quality has been poor the last few times I’ve used it (no network or device changes to cause it) as well.

  4. This has been a huge problem and shake up. I’m at my senior center where it was much easier to make a video call with Duo for my client’s. Now that it changed to Google Meet it’s to many steps. What in the world did y’all do with this. You have made it much worse. Please make the steps more simplified. This new program wants you to send the link, before you make a call. Why not make the all without sharing the link like Duo previously did instead changing the whole platform.

Absolutely terrible. There is no Godly way on this green Earth to share both video and audio at the same time. You can share a video without sound, and you can share audio without a video, but heaven forbid you share both! I have tried their tab feature on my desktop, and I have tried sharing my phone’s screen (which literally shares a black screen with no sound and force drops you out of the call whenever you try to open anything (like a Chrome tab or YouTube to play a video). Utter. Garbage.

  6. Dave D dice:

Before one app, called hangout, could do it all: text, images, audio and video. Moreover, you could call and be called. Now, three steps backwards: separate apps to install and manage, you have to plan in advance rather than call and be called when needed and you need a separate channel to share the meeting code, the worst invention of those stupid people at Zoom. Since Google is out of ideas, now we got that antifeature here too.

  7. I love the realtime captioning feature in Google Meet! It’s very fast and it *doesn’t* typically cover up the mouth of the person who is speaking. I wish the process of starting a meeting with someone was much, much easier. Also wish that the notification for when a person is trying to join a Meet was much louder and provided better visual notification. There can be frequent problems with the video stopping. I wish we could get some feedback about *why* this is happening.

  8. JONTTM dice:

I’m fairly biased towards Google, but I do really like their video meeting solution. It had some issues in the beginning (like lack of grid view), but they’ve addressed this over the past few months. The desktop app is great, but the mobile app could use some work. I don’t like the portrait layout, it would be nice to have a full screen video option in portrait similar to Google Duo.

  9. This app is okay, but it sometimes it glitches and its doesn’t work offline. I get disconnected from calls often and a lot it says “the meeting hasn’t started yet” even though its in the middle of class and I’m trying to get back in from being disconnected. I really like the raise hand feature though. I have horrible ADHD and this feature is something I love to play with by clicking it repeatedly. Honestly, I don’t have many complaints because this a great app and it has far more potential.

  10. Great when it works. Very frustrating when it doesn’t. Very buggy, constant crashing; when I attempt to maneuver through screens or present, the app ceases to respond. I’m fully updated and using a Chromebook that was released late 2019. When using the Chrome extension, it’s a little better in terms of staying in the actual meeting, however the response time is much slower. Otherwise easy to use and intuitive. If I could hold a class from beginning to end without crashing I’d give it 20 stars.

  11. This app lacks features. Pros: it is included with my g-suite, and the closed captioning feature is fantastic and seems quite accurate. Cons: you can’t choose your gallery view, when you are filming you can’t make yourself whole screen-this is not helpful when using it to virtually show a space, you can’t be sure of what you are showing the audience. Scheduling a meeting from the app (vs PC) doesn’t seem to be an option. No recording option is available. Switching views in the app is clunky.

  12. I installed this on my samsung phone and tablet. It works fine for 2 or 3 people, but for more, you can only see little images of the others in the right panel, and only up to 3. There’s no way to do a checkerboard layout that I could find. You only see them when they speak. On a recent family event, the web version worked well for them, but this app was a total disappointment. Also has issues sending audio to the speakerphone or bluetooth device on BOTH Samsung devices. This app needs work.

  13. Missing basic features. Can’t save resolution preferences. Both my kids have Chromebooks from the school. The laptops struggle at high res. For every class, they have to manually drop the res. If they disconnect, they have to redo it after rejoining. Simply saving the preference will be great. The school district is rolling out zoom in few weeks. Looking forward to it.

  14. E. Y. dice:

Not up to par w/ competitors… like where is the option for owners to set up a waiting room for punctual participants vs constantly typing in the same code over and over again until the host opens the bridge. Seems like a waste of time and unnecessary effort. Also breakout session capability would be good, virtual background or the option to blur out the background would help, and the owner being able to mute all. These are basic capabilities that seem to be missing as standard conf tools.

  15. Even with a good internet connection when I use the app on my galaxy a7 tablet the presentation of the screen is too blurry for students to read. I have tried Uninstalling and reinstalling the app, clearing its data, clearing the cache. I have made sure no other apps are running on the table. I have checked everything. There has to be some issue with app. I have screen shared on my phone in the same wifi and it’s perfect but when doing so from the tablet it is so blurry you cannot even read it.

  16. I love google meet, and I use it for school. But, when I am working with a monitor connected to my computer, when I am typing something on a document, the google meet suddenly does whatever it wants. It turns on captions, it decided to present my screen for me, changes my layout, and so many more annoying things like that. Is there a way to fix that? Thanks

  17. I haven’t used the app in my phone but in my PC it’s really bad. Hangout was more reliable in my opinion. Also, if you have the feature to change the background why in the world you don’t have the choice to do chroma key? (like Zoom does) Trying to change my background with my green screen results in even worse image quality than without green screen. That’s absurd.

  18. This app is very good! I have a better experiance with this app than any other I have ever used. You can turn your camera on/off and the same with your microphone. The only issue is that things can get very laggy. But honestly, that depends on how many people are there, how many people have backround images on, and most of all: YOUR INTERNET!! So yes, you do have to have a well working internet to use this app. I do really enjoy google meet and hope that you all do/will too. 😀

  19. While this is a great app, it used to be way better before the update recently. The captions are slow to update and usually are very behind, you cannot kick anyone from the meeting anymore. That is the biggest problem now. I was in my class and someone joined on an account and none of us could kick him, and even worse they started playing vulgar music and pornography on the screen while presenting. The microphone has a load of echo as well. However the app is great with video and voice. Thanks!

  20. Great app, I love it. I do really wish it intergrated Google Translate into its’ functionality as an utility that enables real-time translation of captions and in-call text messages during a video conference call, both into the user’s pre-selected language. Imagine if users all over the world could communicate in different languages through this app (as well as other supported apps like Gmail and Google Chat) and instantly understood each other. All language barriers would be broken.

  21. I gave this a four because sometimes the voice just crashes and I can’t hear anyone and sometimes others can’t hear me. And sometimes people’s videos are randomly paused. Also,I get out of the meeting sometimes due to no reasons. But these are extremely rare so I pretty much love this app. We are humans, not robots! Even robots rarely make mistakes!

  22. Dev Singh dice:

The app crashes on opening. After being opened, the app closes. I can’t open the app, so please don’t tell me to use the in app report feature. Furthermore, tried almost everything possible. Reinstalling the app, clearing cache data, restarting my device, and even clearing all data but it simply doesn’t work. Multiple other users have also reported this but the reply is just some kind of reply saying do this or that BUT IT DOESNT WORK. This is a problem that is needed to be fixed.

  23. Ash Vevory dice:

This application has one problem which need to be fixed or improved. First it works for almost everyone, I call and get calls from people across the world and we don’t get any problems of cutting or reconnection, but hthe voice sometimes doesnt reach well so I have to repeat multiple times to make sure it reach. In the end we thank you for the hard work of improving this App.

  24. Since the merge of Duo & Meet my phone no longer rings for incoming calls ans messages are only sent and not delivered. I tried going to the settings and for notifications where is say CALL ALL NOTIFICATIONS that box is grey out and in the off position. I can’t turn it to on. I sent an email to the help support and still no answer. I tried Google to see if I can find the fix that way but all its say is make sure call notification is turned on and DND is turned off. This need to be fixed ASAP.

  25. Terrible switch over. Immediately upon starting the video call, the audio would cut out on my end. I could see but not hear anything. My caller could hear me though. We tried calling from both ends. Not ready for prime time. I’m using a Pixel 4XL updated to Android 13. Had no trouble with Duo before this.

  26. After about 10 minutes of being on a meeting, my phone starts overheating and then I lose connectivity because Android has to cut off functionality due to overheating. This has now happened 3 times on different meetings and it only happens when I’m actively on a Google Meet using this app. I have my video and mic off when this happens. It seems to happen when I’m in areas of poor cellular connectivity

  27. It was working good at first but after 20 mins, i got disconnected in the meeting. Keeps on saying “couldn’t connect. To video call.” So frustrating, tried to retry and install uninstall several times, still didn’t work

  28. 1. It’s a beautiful app and easy to navigate. Although, I wish there’s a delete option for In-Call Messages. It’s quite inconveniencing being unable to delete a message when there’s an error. 2. I do not like the fact that I’m unable to make a call whilst using the app as doing so would kick you out of the meeting and in the process, you also miss out on all the in-call messages posted. Thanks.

  29. Well it started very well earlier this year but with time, connecting has been a challenge, there’s been delay in audio transmission and sometimes unscheduled lock outs during a meeting . Tonight however was the waste as every member of the team faced serious trouble either joining or staying in the meeting and the app crashed and one of team leader lost his data. Kindly check for bugs

  30. What in the literal hell is going on at Google android management to allow a Google meet app and a Google meet (original) app in the Google play store. I’m digging that you are centralizing features into the Gmail app but wish you wouldn’t make meet and chat separate apps. Please take a lesson from iMessage and unify messaging apps. And dont retire a working app that does basically everything (hangouts) with a ton of apps that don’t do everything (attaching multiple pics, iPhone version issues)

  31. Failure for moving from Duo before you guys could handle it. Seems like an executive decision made by ppl not involved with the actual process. Unintuitive and awful UI, consistent errors, poor voice and video quality.

  32. The app is hanging while in use.. The screen freezes. The audio breaks and i’m unable to listen to anyone. But others can hear me. I checked my internet speed too. It isn’t working well.

  33. I would have given 2more stars only if 1. there was a confirmation message showing that “do you wanna leave the meeting? ” in case one taps on the return button by mistake 2.There’s no personal chat box to text people individually 3. The notification that one has joined or left the meeting, shows in the region where u type messages and when that happens you cannot send messages and u have to wait for it to disappear.

  34. latest version’s UI now broken on tablet. idling dialog is not optimized for tablet use. the dialog spread out of the screen pixel size with skewed aspect ratio and oversized texts, and buttens not respond. also the dialog seems like designed for smartphone screen but its size not adjusted to tablet. this making Meet call unusable when the dialog appears! I didn’t have this problem with previous version. please fix it ASAP!

  35. Utter garbage, the app has a lot of problems with it, the app in my phone quits when I go inside a meeting and forcefully disconnects me from the internet, reinstalling the app doesn’t fix the problem. The other phone has the same problem, with entering a new meet, the entire meeting was laggy and you can’t communicate, then it disconnects, if you can’t even give a damn on trying to fix this app then at least find someone who will

  36. It’s a bad idea of removing the full screen option to the host in updated version. I am a yoga teacher and I cannot see my posture from distance while teaching. I am using this app for teaching yoga since 2 years and liked it very much. But now I am facing problem because of nonavailability of fullscreen mode to the host. Can you please introduce it again sir?

  37. The recent update mainly the layout is not much suitable to use . Full screen option now lags a bit and it creates problem during online classes . I rather liked the previous layout before this update and it is a request to return the previous layout which was more comfortable to use . Thank you

  38. Never do a complete overhaul to an app like this. I understand that merging duo and meet functions in just one app will make things easier for you guys and (in theory) for us, however by removing the all the previous meet functions from the app the whole workflow and it’s purpose was discarded. The app just became a duo but with extra steps…

  39. I have not been able to see enlarged image of myself while teaching yoga to my friends .I get only a thumb nail picture .Formerly there was an icon which invoked would enhance the image to the full screen of my iPad. I have brought it to the notice of Google meet .The problem still persists

  40. Like everything else with Google, IT SUCKS. “Go to your profile and click ‘verify now'”, well, there IS NO SUCH OPTION ANYWHERE!!!!!! Trying to get anything done with Google AT ALL I might as well be banging two rocks together, which I’m about to do with all Google devices! Never had anything but TROUBLE with them! From GPS getting me lost, to a laptop that just won’t work and no one has any answers as to why, a Pixel phone that the back is exploding off, etc, etc, etc.
