  1. Terrible user interface. There is a menu bar across the bottom that is partially covering buttons and I can’t get rid of it. And recently a pop-up telling me I have Chevy points covered the whole screen and it won’t go away. The app is quite literally unusable. But it doesn’t matter because even if it was functional it would add no value. All remote features work better when you use the key fob. And plugshare is a much better app for finding a charger. Don’t waste your time.

  2. Just purchased a vehicle and was going to use this, if you can even get past the login. I keep getting the “Unable to retrieve account details” ever since I downloaded the app. I’ve changed my password and everything, but it’s useless to me. It’s junk that never worked from the beginning. You’d think the company that can jack its prices up for a chip shortage and try to bust you with a high APR rate, can develop an app that works… and Chevy employees will talk it up like it’s gold.

  3. App is pretty useless, in my opinion. I would like to be able to customize my Profile picture. It is one of the many things wrong with this app. Main thing is that at every very slow to connect connection, it uses FM radio and Android Auto at the same time. I’m also not able to update my email address which I see has an error in it.

  4. Initial setup errors out with: “Unable to retrieve account details” Update 1: Onstar tried and couldn’t fix it, escalated to the app team. Update 2: 4 days after I bought the car, app team calls back and fixes the problem. Account wasn’t provisioned correctly. Finally lets me login, but several areas within the app just redirect to web pages that don’t load. This app is a joke. A bad one. Tesla takes their app experience seriously, would be nice if everyone did.

  5. I have updated, reinstalled three + times, tried different email and changing my password. Nothing works. I’m supposed to be in this 30 day trial but can’t even see what it’s all about because I can’t even get pass the log in… it always tells me it’s ” unable to retrieve my account details”. So much for my “free trial”. Disappointing cuz I’ve heard many great things. And frustrating!

  6. It’s been reliable since 2019 before that I had alot of issues, I use it through my Google assistant reliable, and use the app almost everyday, it’s worth the money, there’s actually alot of functionality that they don’t explain very well. I’d really like to see the widget actually implemented with status, vehical location (maybe Google maps integration so location is on your map constantly) more push notification options like if the alarm activated, or just vehical has started.

  7. Used to work great with my C7 Corvette. Now have a C8 and the app is dropping the last letter or number off of important words or letters. For example the tire pressure screen shows the number 3 instead of 33 lbs. On the screen with the fuel gauge the fuel gauge shows half full but the percentage on that particular screen has the number two. The nickname I gave my car that is displayed in the app is complete except for the last letter of the word. I emailed the developer email with some pics

  8. App doesn’t really do much for me beyond reporting the charge status. I have WiFi in my Garage and I think the app could have more features and be reliable if it connected to the car over WiFi. Updates take a long time and have failed in the past. Starting has failed too, but the fob takes care of that. The charge complete notification arrives three or four hours after the charge is complete.

  9. Slower to start than ever after this “upgrade”, interface is worse than older versions by a long shot. The owners manual is now buried 3 layers down, biometric logon is gone, locks down immediately if the screen goes off. It’s hateful to use and doesn’t remotely have as much usefulness compared to 2 yrs ago. It’s a garbage app with nothing but empty platitudes from GM about fixing this useless software that only gets worse with each release.

  10. Lyn Wyke dice:

Worked occasionally until recently. The app updated, and a few days prior by phone had an update. Now, when I press start, it does nothing sbd times itself out. Sometimes it says “failed to connect”. I’ve uninstalled/reinstalled; cleared days and cache; and nothing. Something in the update isn’t letting the app play nicely with the phone. Reading reviews shows it doesn’t work well for many users, period. It is 3 degrees here and I cannot warm up my car! About to cancel my subscription, too!

  11. 3/11/20 Just set everything up yesterday but so far everything works great! Update 1/30/23 so I don’t drive my car often I’m an over the rd truck driver so in the winter months I try to make sure my car is started at least once a week(through the app) but I was informed after about 2 weeks the vehicle needs to be physically started because the system isn’t connected or something with the app. Really defeats my purpose of having the features.

  12. Probably my last Chevy. You hear about all the cool features that apps from virtually every other auto manufacturer offer, such as remotely adjusting the charge limit for EVs, rolling down windows, setting auto precondition schedules, but the myChevrolet app only has a tiny amount of basic features. And it would be awesome if it worked all of the time. But the app is so buggy that it repeatedly locks up or just plain fails to send the commands. I couldn’t justify paying for it.

  13. Data out of sync with what’s displayed on car. Updating info can take forever. Core functions are just okay, advanced functions are meh. It will start, unlock/lock, give you some basic energy usage and mileage. Departure timers don’t preheat/cool the car. SUPER BIG PLUS: adding your charging networks and using them within the app is very easy and well done

  14. I own a 2022 Bolt EUV. The app works great for remote starting and locking or finding the car. Reason for ⭐ ⭐ ⭐?? Missing one valuable feature – the ability to set target charge percentage without going it to the car. We normally charge @85%. If we have a big trip tomorrow and want 100% and I remember at bedtime on a cold night, I have to go out and change the target manually. Tesla & other apps can do this. If we can re-sort our apps, why can’t we set charge level?

  15. Update: 1/2/23–Followed instructions to submit an email explaining the issue. No follow-up from Chevrolet. Both myself and members at the dealership were unsure why the app wouldn’t let me get past the login screen. When attempting to log in, I’m greeted with the unable to retrieve account details. I’ve uninstalled, reinstalled, changed my password, and have had no results. Using a Samsung S22 Ultra.

  16. The remote start feature is why I still have Onstar services. Approximately 10% of the time, the app says my vehicle is running but when I get outside it is NOT. I constantly get the runaround when I call Onstar to troubleshoot the problem. It seems that there is no fix for this problem and they just brush me off all the time.

  17. D A dice:

When I tap status the next screen has characters missing. Only the first two letters show on vehicle name. Bottoms of all characters cut off, oil life shows 1%, but should 18%. Recommend tire pressure is wrong. Each tire has a number by it followed by ps, not psi. Navigation doesn’t always send to vehicle. This has never worked properly and I don’t think I should have to pay full price for it. On the up side vehicle commands do work.

  18. Mugbone22 dice:

App only works with perfect service. Ever since they updated it a year ago there’s no refresh button. The app claims to refresh after every time you drive but you need it to refresh before you start it (which it rarely does) otherwise the app won’t start the vehicle or it will claim you can’t start it more that twice before driving it. when the app works it works great, however it rarely works as intended. The older version was much easier to use and worked way better.

  19. I’ve had the app a little more than a year now and I don’t use it a lot, but it’s been good when I have. I like that it let’s me know if my truck is due for maintenance/oil changes and things like low tire pressure etc. and will alert you to any potential issues. I’ve had none, but the app is super easy to use (and a little nice feature is I can do things like update favorite music channels etc. Silly maybe but clearly someone put good thought into it…

  20. On Android 13 the MyChevrolet app has a lot of text where the last letter is missing. It’s a minor thing but somewhat annoying. Just wanted to report that. Also, everyone else is correct, the app tends to have some trouble reliably connecting to the car. It isn’t as awful as some people say but it’s not great.

  21. They took away the pin functionality. Made the application UI less intuitive. Now, I have to enter a password, which I use complex passwords for security, and the application won’t work with LastPass. I’m not sure who you have on UI and QA, but they need to take a refresher course. This is now bad enough, I’m considering dropping my subscription.

  22. This app used to be a nightmare to use. Bulky, slow to react, took forever to log in and quit a few log in issues which didn’t make sense. With the recent updates the app works like it should. Start/unlock/lock/etc widgets are available for the home screen and is actually a nice app to use. I wish there were the ability to turn on/off the requirement for having to hold down a button to activate it or, at least, allow us to change the time a button needs to be held for it to be activated.

  23. Dan Brown dice:

Not bad, not awesome, really. I think that more or less sums it up. The app works well, although it is very slow to react and quite laggy fetching the information from your vehicle. Also, it has the endlessly obnoxious habit of logging you out at the drop of a hat and forcing you to re-log if you want to check your car’s charge state. There is no option to “stay logged in” or anything like that, unfortunately. It works well enough, just kind of annoying and slow. For $25/mo? Not a fan.

  24. Corrina dice:

The premise of this app is terrific but the reliability is anything but. I live in a part of the country that sees both hot and incredibly cold weather. Any ordinary day it seems to work, but when there is an extreme temp and I want to start my car to cool/heat it the app just fails repeatedly. I’m not blaming it on the weather, just stating that when you really need it – chances are it won’t work. I have never un/reinstalled an app so often.

  25. They have improved the responsiveness with updates to the app. Now if they could get it to stop crashing and disconnecting from my truck so I don’t have to reinstall the app every time I go to use it, that would be great. I tell you, GM’s entire connectivity scheme is really a scam. The cost is outrageous and it never works anyway. For $60,000 and $25 a month, I expect better.

  26. Anita KA dice:

Edit: This used to be the most amazing app, now, I have to put an actual password in instead of my pin. Also, it only works a few times. You have to uninstall and reinstall every couple of days. This went from an amazing app to pretty much worthless. I can start and lock my vehicle so much easier and with so much less stress with my key fob! Bring back the old one!!! PLEASE!!! I love having my vehicle options at my fingertips!

  27. Used to work great. Now it very seldom starts my vehicle, which is what I use it mostly for. Diagnostics say “good to go”. Contradicts itself. Very frustrating! 2ND Review: Still the same after uninstalling and reinstalling. Works part time! Never consistent. Can’t you just undo whatever you did before the update? So many people complaining. It seems to be a common problem. Winter is coming. I guess I better make sure my key fob’s battery is good. Otherwise, this app will leave me in the cold:(

  28. Rob Ward dice:

I bought my truck in 2017 and installed the app shortly after. The app has been “hit or miss” for me. Today, after updating the app, I can no longer remotely lock/unlock my truck with the app. My only option is to “connect to OnStar” to sign up for services. I don’t want or need OnStar. I just want the 1 redeeming feature back from the app…remote lock/unlock. I would rate this app lower than 1 if possible.

  29. Paul C. dice:

App no longer provides accurate data after update to Android 13. Called customer service and also provided screen shots. They were unhelpful. Just renewed my subscription for an app that doesn’t work and has terrible customer service. What a waste of my time and money. If you’re running the latest version of Android, don’t pay for this service. It doesn’t work.

  30. Cee KaYe dice:

I don’t usually write reviews but this paid for app is complete garbage. I previously had a Hyundai and that app was AMAZING and very user friendly, Chevy needs to check it out, plus it was free! You are able to adjust temp settings, turn on heated car seats, defrost and the locate my vehicle was much easier to use. From what I understand Chevy temp settings resume what it was left on when you last used the vehicle, which is not helpful when there is a 40 degree difference in outside temps.

  31. I used to be able to see vehicle locate. Every since the update I assume I can’t see anything and it shows last updated in like July. I’ve tried to uninstall and reinstall no luck! I still get text messages on the location points I set years ago but they are delayed and off sometimes and I can’t see anything real time or current like before. Terrible!

  32. EXTORTION! I have enjoyed this app with the option to unlock and lock my doors, check diagnostics, remote start my car, etc., for the past 5 years! Now, all of a sudden, I have to pay a monthly subscription to On-Star in order to access features that used to be FREE!! FORGET being able to see what’s going on with your vehicle in case you get that beloved ‘check engine’ light! I’m so angry! 😡

  33. There is an enormous security flaw in this app. I am able to launch the app and fire off a command to the vehicle before the biometric challenge is issued. This is BAD. VERY BAD. This security flaw can be exploited simply by launching the app and putting it into the background, letting it timeout, and then switching back to it. The main screen shows and you can interact with it for 2-3 seconds before the biometric challenge comes up.

  34. App is overrall very slow to use, trying to send a command such as unlock the door by long-pressing the app icon first requires the app to open, load a bit, then you log in/use your fingerprint, then more loading, then at the home screen, then finally you can press and hold the button, and after a few more seconds it’ll unlock. All of which takes quite a while, which cuts into it’s usefulness.

  35. Gabriel R dice:

More often than not, the app will break not allowing me to send commands or check the charge status. Relaunching the app doesn’t make it better. i have some success clearing the app cache and signing back in, but having to do this almost everytime i want to check the battery levels or pre start the car is not great. What makes it worse is these are mostly paid features on a monthly subscription so where the f is my money going. Definitely not app developement. Love my car at least.

  36. The sign in every single time on a secured phone is excessive. Easier to grab the remote key fob. Should be able to command features such as heated seat/cool seats, heat/ air conditioning temperature control and heated steering wheel. All of these things are electronic and would definitely make signing in well worth the excessive password input.

  37. chi28n2k dice:

It was sort of bad before. The latest updates have improved this App, immensely. I also use the Mercedes App, and this one has distance to go, to be great. to go… Holding the start button, or lock/unlock, is too long. A simple touch with verification pop up, would be more elegant and less time consuming, btw. Holding the unlock button, then the wait for the door to unlock takes forever…

  38. Mike S dice:

Crashing amd force closing. Sometimes I can log in with my fingerprint and it locks up my entire phone until I force close it. Or it opens without some buttons and freezes. The newest one is after 2 or 3 times of accessing the app it closes itself as I’m trying to start my car and then re opens the app. Definitely has a bug because the app doesn’t function smooth or consistent.

  39. While my car is charging the app doesnt update the state of charge. This doesn’t happen all the time but when it does it’s pretty frustrating but Instead it just stays on ” updating” and doesn’t show me my state of charge at all even when I close out the app etc. please fix and oh can we get climate settings on the app. If we’re able to start it with the air on then we should be able to control the air as well instead of having the a/c blowing hard for no reason.

  40. roy ng dice:

Totally useless, like what other users said app doesn’t communicate with the car well. The layout is bad too, sometimes the show of the milage got cut off, you can’t even see. And like I just switch phone, trying to login, I never received the verification code. Now the app is useless. I can’t get any info. They should compare what other EV app and make the better one.
