  1. Actually really enjoyed this app. I have had a really positive experience using it. The UI is a little frustrating but the functionality and updates were nearly flawless. I was able to change my flight as needed for a delay due to weather. Instead of having to wait in line and talk to someone or wait until I arrived at the terminal after my flight was gone I was able to alter my flights seemlessly through the app. Its updated in real time as far as I can tell too. Will certainly use again.

It makes the traveling easy! Very helpful and very convenient! I use it for booking the flights, boarding the airplane, mapping the airport… It has nearly all the info I need for traveling. Thumbs up and highly recommend it! PS: I read other comments after I posted mine. Can’t believe so many low ratings. I’ve used it for over a year. Also experienced the gate change and sweated to rush to the correct gate but overall I have felt the improvement and my experience with AA is pleasant so far.

  3. One of the worst that I experienced. With the same credentials that I used on the AA website, the app keeps saying that the system cannot find my information. Even after updating the password, the message remains the same. Not only the user login is an issue. When I tried using as a guest and looked for my booking information with the Record Locator, it failed to find my information.

  4. Honestly the worst layed out airline app. Needs a button for my reservations that shows past and present. They make it way too difficult to navigate and why would they not make boarding passes available offline? It’s just a QR code!? Also no capability for Google wallet. Highly suggest when showing departure and arrival times to show “PST” or where the time zone is so there is no confusion.

  5. 100% garbage. This app will not accept my password (which works on the website). I have to change my password every time I use it because it constanly locks me out. Once I do get in, I cannot get my boarding passes with a “Server not responding. Please try again later” message. I have just stopped flying AA to avoid using this terrible app.

  6. Will C dice:

This app will not update information. For example, your address and KTN. I have tried multiple times over several weeks and it redirects me to the “this page must have taken flight” screen… otherwise known as “this app has failed you again… enjoy your frustration” screen. I have reinstalled it and confirmed the most current version was downloaded.

  7. Completely useless. It lets you “check-in,” but it can’t even generate a boarding pass. (Which is the whole point!) It’s so bad that it even courppted my option for a mobile boarding pass on their website. Even after calling and being told there was a “glitch” in the system, I ended having to get a paper boarding pass at the airport. Don’t make this mistake, skip the app altogether, and just go straight for the mobile boarding pass.

  8. The app is great for keeping you updated for Gate changes ( which happen constantly with AA it seems ). However, the map of your next destination gate, although great in thought , is horrible in design. I attempted to follow it, and it sent me the wrong way!! If it would show what way you are actually moving in the airport, that would help improve it a lot. I will continue to use it as I travel once a month or so , I just won’t use the map until they try to fix it.

  9. Update 8/20 Thank you for fixing the glitches. App appears to be working much better. Able to pull up mobile boarding pass. Keeping an eye on it I fly in and out of Philly and Atlanta a lot. They’ve always taken and do take mobile boarding passes but the app will say that the airport doesn’t accept mobile boarding passes and won’t let me pull it. In addition, when it does let me pull it there’s usually some glitch. ALWAYS screen shot the boarding pass before you leave your house as a backup.

  10. The slowest app I have ever seen. If I try to open in, many times it takes up to 60 seconds to open up. Expedia, United are way better apps when it comes to speed of loading pages. If I need to modify a reservation for an international flight, American is not allowing to do it by myself using the app. American is forcing me to call the the customer support.

  11. American Airlines should poach some programmers from United who actually know how to make an app run correctly. This app is slow, hard to use, not intuitive and rarely functions with any speed. I can’t think of any app (among the 400+) on my phone that load this slowly, if it ever loads. Miserable experience. You can’t “pin” your boarding pass, once you find it. Want to find a previous trip or see the miles you’re earning? Good luck. Thank goodness I don’t fly AA often or I’d go crazy.

  12. Do everything you can to use a different airline. Everything from their app to their website are god awful slow and unintuitive. Also, if you purchase your tickets through a 3rd party, good luck trying to add them to your AA account; not only do you have to jump through hoops to do so, even if you have round trip tickets, you have to manually add both tickets to your account – separately – and they don’t even send you an email confirmation, so good luck once you close your purchase page!

  13. Missy Moo dice:

No filter option, so you have to scroll through all the stupid 2 stop options & the even more stupid 24 hr+/overnight options. It’s so overwhelming that it’s impossible to find what you really want. I’m not even going to consider this airline with an app that is this horrible. If you make it this hard to find flights, it’s not worth the potential cost savings; I’ll book with your competition.

  14. Buggy as hell. No way to select a flight when opening details. When closing details it takes you back to the top of the list. When scrolling down to find the one you wanted there are oftentimes identical high level flights with no way to see details without choosing it or going through the bs mentioned above. It’s chaotic at best. Abysmal GUI honestly. I used auto fill for the passenger details and it completely wiped it the entire booking out. Just use the website. It’s a million times better.

  15. App is ok. AA sucks. When I logged in and found my flight for november, I was given an option to upgrade our seats for so much a person. Went through the process of choosing our seats, entering card info, and submitting. App gave an error, saying try again, however, the transaction went through to my account. There is no record in the app, no email confirmation, etc for the transaction. I called the given number for mobile app problems, clerk says it did not take. Southwest next time. Sucks.

  16. As an EP, nothing is more frustrating than an app that doesn’t function when it’s needed the most. Twice over the past few days the app says “unable to locate reservation” …. *while I’m actively staring at the boarding passes and about to show them to an agent!* I believe the defect is due to my family traveling with me. My son shares my first and last name (different middle name). I believe the app is failing due to this case.

  17. Shawn C dice:

Wrong Gate… Again Check in: good, boarding pass: you can get one but the gate may be wrong, updates: probably too late to be useful. Running on a tight schedule with 2 days of meetings and flights is not the time to have the app send you to the wrong end of an airport for your connection… Again! After going to the gate on the app, seeing the wrong flight, checking the screens, running to the other end of the airport, finding the gate, boarding the plane, then the app updated the gate! SMH

  18. Stan S. dice:

Useless for booking flights … the splash screens totally obfuscate the seemingly never ending pages of offers and acknowledgement screens. These completely eliminate the ability to get to the “Continue” buttons that are required to finally reach the screen where you can pay for a reservation or put it on hold. What a mess.

  19. Right now rather pissed at the app. About 15 minutes prior to boarding, my flight info with the button to access the boarding pass disappeared, never to return. Touched down, no screen with baggage claim info. Tried updating the app, rebooting the phone, etc., to no avail. Trying to leave s comment, ask a question was pointless so leaving feedback here. It was the first time in a while that I was issued a mobile boarding pass. My wife had no issues with the app with a paper boarding pass. Fix it

  20. As a basic boarding pass it works fine. However, it would be nice if the app incorporated a comprehensive traveler profile to which a user could add their AAdvantage number or KTN to reservations that are missing that information. It’s also a little slow to update the flight status (such as stating a flight is on time when boarding hasn’t even started after the flight should have departed ).

  21. Sam Clark dice:

The app largely does what is meant to do. Unfortunately, I primarily want the app for the mobile boarding pass. When I get within a couple hours of my flight I want a quick and easy way to get my boarding pass. A simple way to accomplish that would be to provide the functionality of putting the pass in Google Wallet. Passes in the Wallet will generate a persistent notification that helps pull up the boarding pass. If the app itself would do the same I would be happy. It doesn’t do either.

  22. This app is very difficult. I was unable to find key information about my booking (baggage allowance, etc.). The load times are insanely slow, even with a fast device and fast internet connection. My phone times out and goes to sleep twice in the time it takes this app to load booking info. It never provided info or notifications on important documents required for my travel, so I ended up with a very stressful time in the airport having to sort things out that could’ve been clear in the app.

  23. In short, this app is unusable. I can get to my itinerary….and it stays on the screen for about 1 second before a full page warning comes up telling me I have purchased a basic fare ticket. Great. Thanks. There is no way to get rid of this full page warning. There is an X at the top right of the warning or a box at the bottom that says you understand that you can tap to get rid of the warning. And it works….for about half a second. The warning goes away, only to pop up a fraction of a second later. There is no way to get rid of it and it covers your itinerary…. rendering the app completely useless. Not sure what’s gonna happen when I try to get a boarding pass in the app…I’ll assume it will be impossible. Terrible app!

  24. For some reason when I go to book a flight the blue button I’m supposed to hit to see my flight options barely shows. The screen won’t move up or down to allow this blue button to show anymore. Also when I first open the app it gives me an option to get updates on my flights. This screen also will not scroll up and down and allow me to hit “except” these options.

  25. This is the 3rd trip that I have had issues with this app. The boarding passes are not available AGAIN! Such a frustration to have to use a printed pass when I have the app! The last trip we took, the app told us what gate to go to, and it was wrong. It never corrected. Fortunately, we ran and did not miss our flight. Also, trips have just disappeared out of the app, and I have to search my emails to find the record locator, and find them again. I am Uninstalling this app. It is not reliable.

  26. I hate this app. It crashes when you try to open it 3 times out of 4. It never remembers my traveler info. It sometimes fails to load your boarding passes and there isn’t a way to retry loading, it will just not show you anything. So then you’re stuck with a worthless app. I don’t trust it to tell me what gate the plane is at, let alone access my boarding pass. You’re better off printing them or using email for that.

  27. This app needs to work well is when things go wrong. A flight is delayed and you’re going to miss your connecting flight or another similar scenario. This app should give travellers the information and the tools to get one’s trip back on track however, it fails in this regard. Going to a service desk proved far more useful and much less worrisome. Unfortunately, this app is only good at providing information, and hopefully you don’t need to rely on it to actually do anything.

  28. Won’t even open. All I see is a picture of a painting of a beach, and it just stays there. I have a Google Pixel with the latest updates. I had to use the mobile website to check in instead, and that experience was not good. There were “continue” buttons underneath other buttons, so you had to zoom in 6 times to be able to progress. Get it together, AA.

  29. Useful when it works, but crashes constantly. Like other users have noted, the popup showing the basic economy booking is really annoying, although I am able to click “Got it” to make it go away. Also, it is virtually impossible to figure out where to log out, in case you want to log in to another account. Finally found it, but it was not easy!

  30. I wish I could say I liked this app more. It is generally intuitive and it functions well when it is working… however, it times out and errors out a lot. Even when it sends you to the mobile site, it doesn’t seem to work. I don’t understand what the deal is. Overall it works when you are checked in and your tickets are ready but needing to reschedule or look up a flight…you better expect issues.

  31. Really doesn’t work very well for such a large corporation in 2019. During first use, it crashed when trying the link about travel insurance. When trying the entertainment link, it brought me to a dead link in my web browser. Several times it brought me to a screen in which it claimed to be having technical difficulties and to try again later. To say that I am not impressed would be an understatement.

  32. I’ve used this app extensively on two new flagship phones now. The app is slow, and throws a lot of errors. Sometimes it does not recall CC info when booking. Maybe 25% of the time, it tells me an error has occurred, and to try again in a few minutes when trying to book a trip. This happens basically 100% of the time when trying rebook a cancelled flight, while prices are going up and/or flights are filling up as I keep having to start over the process. I am about to change airlines bc of the app

  33. Dan Krotz dice:

The app is helpful when it actually works, but it hasn’t been working for a while. For the past month or so, it has just sat there spinning on the loading page when I have tried to look up flights. I’ve logged out, cleared my cache, reinstalled the app, and nothing works. Keep it up, American. I just booked a flight on another airline instead of yours because you can’t even get your flights to load on your app.

  34. Very useful app! Once my trip was canceled and was rescheduled at the airport. To my surprise, the changes automatically reflected on the app…I did nothing, the paper boarding passes were useless. Notifications are prompt about any updates regarding the flight, including maps where gates are located when flying from/to larger airports. I would say that it’s an app worth having.

  35. This app was great but now it’s mostly unusable even after I close and restart it. I can’t load my boarding passes, it takes minutes to finally respond to any request, and when I attempt to watch anything in flight it continues to stall over and over then leads to a different page and back again. I struggle for like 20 to 30 mins. fighting with this app. Its frustrating to say the least.

  36. Great app! Have been enjoying the live updates, digital boarding pass, and in-flight entertainment. Small improvement would be to be able to add AAdvantage number and TSA precheck to the digital boarding pass thru the app. I may not have figured out how to do this yet and keep going to the counter to add these to the flights. I don’t mind because the staff is always great, but when in a rush this would be helpful.

  37. S Gagnier dice:

App lacks functionality. I’m testing this out to see if I should move from Delta, but I’m not feeling convinced. No ability to choose options for upgrading. Trying to change seats in app takes me to a blank screen. I don’t know if my companion is on the upgrade list. I can’t make adjustments to my FF program unless I call. In the midst of a status challenge, I’m not impressed. I have to wait hours to reach a rep on the phone, so I expect a comprehensive app. Treat your elites better.

  38. I usually enjoy the app and find it very functional except for award flight searches. However, I have had consistent trouble with the current Android version (as of 11/28/2018) with flight searches. I tried a one way flight search multiple times and it says Loading and never stops. I have instead gone to the mobile website, which works. I am on Samsung Galaxy S8.

  39. This app is trash. The only reason to use it is for the boarding passes. In-flight entertainment says it’s required, but it can all be accessed through a browser. The app throws a password prompt at the stupidest times without rhyme or reason. And trying to access any of the additional features in the app gets you endlessly promoted for authentication without ever getting into the content. AA needs to look into QC for both their website and their app.

  40. The shopping experience is great until I actually tried to book my flight. I filled out all the traveler information and then scrolled to click continue but the continue button was blocked by a swipe up drawer so there is no way to book my flight. Terrible experience, website looks worse than the app but I have no choice but to use it now . I’m on a Google pixel 2, maybe it’s just my screen size, idk
