  1. This is a great Browser for slow devices. I have a 10 year old tablet running android 7, and it is VERY slow, if I install any other browser it is so slow that I can put the dog out, come back, and it is still not loaded, but this browser only takes about 7 seconds to load, not 7 minutes. If you have a slow device this will save you, and the browser is able to load anything you might want to use it for without any type of problems what so ever!

  2. Regardless of all settings, browser switches back and forth between English and Spanish at will (I’m currently in Mexico). Yes, I’ve tried all your “solutions,” along with many wasted hours attempting to solve it from the Google side. Fact is, if you’re not in an English-speaking country, many of your search results, websites, et. al., will be in the native language. So just let it happen, the developers do. (Now in Turkey it’s 90% Turkish. Same ol’ etc).

This is the best lite browser I have used, and I have tried many. Most, while small in size, compromise features and usability. Via, in the other hand, has no such compromises, and offers multiple useful features, such as the ability to choose custom user interface, import bookmarks, ad blocker, and built in QR scanner. It is also highly customizable, and allows you to save/export/import your settings. It is speedy, doesn’t bog down my phone, and has great privacy features. Useful! I love it!

The app is the fastest app I tested so far. It loads websites quickly and somewhat smoothly. The main problem I experienced is the random crashes. I’m not sure why it crashes and it is annoying because the app refreshes after the crash. So, I go back to the home start page…just why? Also, switching to incognito causes the app to crash. Overall, it’s speed is as promised, needs to be optimized better to make it more reliable.

  5. I’m impressed. This is just what it says… Fast and light. It’s easy to navigate and set up, with simple, intuitive menus. No needless bells and whistles, or advertising… Just a fully functional and reliable browser. Also no VPN, but it’s not TOR. And YouTube doesn’t work right anywhere. Otherwise, it’s worked flawlessly. With the recent dumpster conflagration at Firefox, this has become my new default for ordinary day-to-day browsing.

  6. Can’t believe I’m only finding out about this browser now. I use a BlackBerry KEYone so i have a physical keyboard. the ability to have the url bar on the bottom is amazingly convenient. Not to mention the browser itself is super fast! Also found that pressing “T” scrolls to the top of the page, “B” to the bottom, and space bar scrolls down one page. Awesome features. I want to suggest something though, in “Simple” UI mode, put forward and back in the menu. No way to go forward in Simple UI now.

  7. it is VERY good for features and customization, but has one major downfall: there is no memory management. if you have the app set to restore your tabs on startup, it will always load *every single tab* every time, making it really really slow if you have a big browsing session. chrome doesn’t do this because it only loads the tabs you need to view. i suggest this app follows in those footsteps. besides that, my favorite feature is the scripts. being able to add my own userscripts is great.

  8. First, full disclosure; I’m a long time Firefox user and have found nothing to replace it yet. I keep trying other new browsers, because I might may stumble across one that is everything I want. Via Browser it’s a good solid, lightweight, fast and capable browser with some nice features. One thing that it doesn’t have is text reflow, text wrap, word wrap, whatever you want to call it, and that is a deal breaker for me. To be fair, Firefox doesn’t either, but there are some great plug-ins to address that fault. I have to have word-wrap. I’ll keep an eye on this one though, in the event that it’s added, or offered as a plug-in. Until then, it’s back to FF for now.

  9. This is not a terrible browser…but definitely not the best one out there. Issues: 1) ad blocking is weak; I’m seeing a lot of ads that are not displayed in other browsers. 2) speed dial not showing all favicons; less than half are correct and there’s no option to choose your own. 3) app/data size is increasing with every usage; what started out as a light browser is not so light anymore. I may take another look if future updates address these issues, but for now I’ll use something else.

  10. Great little browser, ideal for phones and tablets overwhelmed with BLOATWARE. HOWEVER, it’s from China, so there are a lot of functions that haven’t been translated into English. The Sync function DOES NOT work! Dialog box does it’s Chinese equivalent of spinning emojis then the connection times out. Recommend it for phones and tablets that are a few years old.

  11. All is well again. Latest update fixed the problem with crashing when trying to access settings. This is by far the easiest and most data saving browser out there. Others promise excellence but fall way short. This app has almost everything packed into it. Give a try. You will be amazed how such a small app can have such power.

  12. Here’s the thing: this is by far my favorite browser I’ve ever used. It has so many options and customizations, I can set it up exactly how I want it and I love that. But there’s some dealbreakers. For one thing, any time I try to link anything to my Google account from this browser, I get permission denied. I also get “this browser isn’t supported” at several sites. I want Via to be my default, but I always have to switch back to chrome because functionality is iffy 🙁

  13. I wish I were to be able to adjust the maximum height of the pop-up menu when you hold a link. If you long-press a link, it’ll bring up a pop-up menu (“Open in Background/Open in New Tab/etc.”) which takes up 30% of my screen–and if I happen to be long-pressing a link on the bottom half of my screen, the “Open in Background” option will shift all the way to the top of my screen. It’s quite a stretch ;w; Still the most customizable ad-blocking browser I’ve used to date. I highly recommend it.

  14. The only issue I had was when you close the browser and open it again the tab seems to have gone ‘back’ a few times. I closed the browser after chapter 10 of a web novel and when I opened the browser later the tab was at chapter 6. I read a lot and this happens all the time, really annoying. One other feature I missed when using Via was the selected word preview that chrome has. The tab grouping would also be a nice to have. I would’ve moved from chrome to via if it weren’t for these.

  15. I absolutely love this browser. It WAS the fastest thing available. But… It has gotten slower since the last update. I would love to go back to the last version. I’m kind of a worst-case scenario because I’m using it to run the HTML5 interface on a Soundcraft Ui24R which is fairly demanding of quick response time as this is a live sound application. When I need to mute something, I need it to mute right-fu**ing-now; not in 2 seconds. Please fix the slowdown as I’m stuck with Chrome again.

  16. Absolutely great browser! Lots of controls, easy-to-use, and excellent speed. I’ve been using it for a few months on my phone, it’s worked fantastically there so I’m going to try it on my Chromebook. The only problem is that I can’t figure out how to give it microphone permission, but I’m pretty sure that’s either an issue with my phone or something I’ve skipped over.

  17. I have Chrome, Firefox, Ghostery, and Opera, I’ve used both full and mini, on my phone. They are now out of use! Via surpasses all them in all ways. The others take forever to load, and crash all the time. Via is Fast and Stable. I can’t say enough for this browser. Simple, lite and configurable. No more frustrations for me!

  18. Probably The best Browser Ever! I have used about 20-25 internet browsers before but I have never found such a good and advanced browser! That’s why it is my daily companion! I prefer it for its fast speed and small size! Although there are some bugs! 1) Even if the browser history is deleted, it is not deleted but remains! 2) if i go to Incognito mode in the browser, it remains in normal mode! But except for these few things, everything else is very nice Browser! Recommended!

  19. Love it so far because 1) It’s a true light browser (less than 1MB). 2) Still has enough decent features. 3) To the point (except a couple of features I don’t care about or need. 4) Is actually recognized by Andriod as a browser (so you don’t get a notification stating that you don’t have a browser when opening up a link). 5) It doesn’t crash and has a simple home space if you tweak it a bit. 6) Toolbar isn’t in your way and can be made to auto hide. Would love ability to modify toolbar tho.

  20. As of October 2020 images no longer display when I use via browser. I see there are other users having this same problem. I updated to the most recent version and the same problem persists. There is no setting with which to address this problem. Up until images stopped displaying this was my go to browser due to its small size and fast speed. another reviewer has a problem placing bookmarks in folders. That function is working fine for me. Samsung Galaxy s9 Android version 10. Hoping for a fix!

  21. Agree with the positive comments of others. Unlike other browser, one of the few, if not the only one importing bookmarks from an html file. HOWEVER, no system to manage bookmarks. Downloaded 1200 of them, the original tree structure is messed up, folders shown as bookmarks and vice versa, no way to select and delete multiple bookmarks at once, no sorting, or create folders, move up or down. Very underwhelming

  22. This is the only browser I enjoy using on a phone, and have been doing so for quite a while. I can’t tolerate ads on a phone. I’m actually reviewing this because someone recommended the AP News app, so I looked at that. But I can easily use Via browser and get all the news I want at Google News, light, fast and without ads. Recommended.

  23. The best small and fast web browser I’ve ever used. Great for all websites outside ones with heavy scripts. Highly recommended. Of note: the screen might blank out with too many open tabs or a super heavy website scripts. Clear Via’s cache and data in android settings to fix this (don’t forget to export your bookmarks and data in the app first and import later.)

  24. I switched from Chrome to Via several months ago and haven’t looked back. The browser is stable, clean, fast, and configurable. I love that I can use a custom URL as my search provider and can change what all the navigation buttons do. The built-in ad blocker is a nice touch, and effective.

  25. A really great alternative to the native Android browsers. FAST, full featured, and intuitive. My only complaint is that it renders fonts and buttons on some websites very small. l have set to largest font in the settings, but it’s still too small on some sites. Facebook, for instance. Otherwise really good.

  26. This was my light weight go-to light weight, fast, and (usually) JavaScript OFF browsing. With the last update, it started crashing when encountering certain code which I haven’t deciphered yet, but certain pages or sites are pretty consistent on crashing it, while other things seem kind of random (like a Google search that answers a question with an image). I don’t see others with the same issue so might device or use case specific? Don’t know, but please investigate.

  27. Dave B dice:

I started using Via Browser off and on back in 2017. Now I find that it’s my favorite Android browser, and I use it at least 95% of the time (I still prefer Opera Mini to browse Facebook). I don’t know when it was added, but I just noticed that Via now has the ability to make an account to sync settings and bookmarks, which is a very useful feature! I used and really liked Naked Browser starting back in 2015. It’s still the tiniest browser I’m aware of, with an amazingly small 128k apk, and it still works, but it hasn’t been updated since 8/20/19. So now I’m all in with Via! Keep up the GREAT work with Via, and THANK YOU!

  28. Awesome browser. Definitely lightweight. Uses autofill api which is great. I’ve noticed one bug though. Super minor, but not a big deal. If you set your home page to about:blank and try to exit the app, it just reloads the page instead of closing it. I’m sure they’ll fix it soon.

  29. This app rocks!!! It is quick, takes up little space, and does put in consideration for desktop users. It is also feature-rich and has a nice dark mode, I have suggestions though: Please somehow add a way to zoom with mouse and keyboard Add a feature that lets me change the browser navigation intetrface so it can take the for of tabs cimilar to desktop browsers like chrome and firefox

  30. I’ve so enjoyed this app because of its small size the many things you can do with it ad blocker bookmark etc. however the deal-breaker for me is when you do a search and click on a link to open an article, this browser opens up the last link/article you opened. then you have to close that link and go back to the link you’re trying to look at and click it again.. I hope the designers are reading this and answer.

  31. v x dice:

Because of the new character limit the google play store has and Google’s policy prevents links to other sites, I can’t make my usual in depth reviews here anymore. However, on most devices, this is one of the best browsers I’ve used. It’s small, the ad blocker works almost perfectly and the browser is very fast. The only issues I have are videos in hd have buffering issues and specifically on my tablet (hp7, running android 4.1.2), most websites don’t work properly and the browser is unstable.

  32. Its good but the text field boxes is awful. They are slow and delayed when you press on them and if you want to delete something in the middle of a word or sentence it pushes you automatically back to the end after the last character. Plus its delayed by about 3seconds a pain if your entering information or forms online. Also if you open a link from a text it wont open direct you to it. I refuse to use Google searches due to their orivacy & censorship so its nice for that reason.

  33. ive been using this browser as a backup. i use opera mini as main browser but i always end up using Via for the quick stuff. Via browser has always worked excellent. extremely reliable no issues. its fast and love that you can select a user-agent which helped with a couple of websites. this is the only worthy browser along with your 2nd favorite. 5 stars of course.

  34. PLEASE may we have a search bar widget? I’ve tried most of the other android browsers then discovered this gem. It’s fast and uncluttered. I have, for the moment, put Opera in my apps draw and I’m using Via as my ‘go to’ browser. Some of my shortcut icons don’t show their website thumbnails… Could this be fixed please. Opera speed dial icons work a lot better. Great browser though so thanks to the developer(s).

  35. (Edited after Nov 22, 2022 update) Fast and lightweight and practical. But bookmark suggestions in the address bar don’t seem to work anymore in this version, which is troublesome. Also it would be great if there’s a global setting to remove AMP from Google search results and other sites.

  36. Saves more space on device, better browser, sorry, I would like to set Proxy only to use with this Browser, in it’s Settings Configuration, I get trouble conneting to some websites or downloading files while using Bluetooth Shared connetion, I am able to use Google search, but, I can’t download files, it keeps paused, displaying waiting for network. Bluetooth is the only connection available to use.

  37. This might look like a paid review, but it’s literally my personal experience. I was looking for a fast and non-intrusive browser to use when I don’t want to accumulate tabs on Google Chrome, and after downloading like four different browsers (Firefox Focus, Opera Mini, some other browser which displayed ads on my notifications, and this one), I concluded Via was not only a *bit* faster than Firefox Focus, but it also looks much cleaner. Good job devs.

  38. Great fast browser. Light on the system. The issue I have is the adblocker doesn’t work. I’ve added lists. I’m removed lists. Uninstalled and reinstalled. Nothing seems to fix it. I would rate Via a solid 5 if that feature worked.

  39. Very unstable. As I type, out of the blue the page I’m on goes off and the app tries to scan qr code. It auto resumes the pages am on, loads different content than I am requesting. Fix this. Otherwise a good app.

  40. Incredibly small, incredibly fast and with a lot of small details to make your internet experience easier. For example: I was trying to download a file that the browser just kept opening, and at some point I went into “downloads” and noticed the “new” button on the bottom. Lo and behold, the file was downloaded! 5 stars, can’t recommend it enough 👍
