  1. Pre registration and launch player here. App deletion is immenent. No good gameplay updates in years. Only updates to some old skills and units which is appreciated but not enough to make the game fun and playable again. Level cap keeps raising and new min/max systems keep being implemented to pressure you to spend money to keep up. I’m currently a light spender in the game but will no longer spend any money on it until I see big changes made. Music, multiplayer, map design, better game modes.

I love the arts, graphic animation, and tactical strategy of this game, but it seems there’s a downfall to all of these mobile games. Without wasting your dollars – the longer you play, resources and rewards you need to obtain, it gives out too little. And trying to get more resources by playing the same grinding stage repetitively over and over…is long overdue. You barely get a dent of what you need. That said, I no longer will continue this game.

Great visual, good music and voice acted content. Story is average at best and there’s a ton of game content fairly balanced for free players. Everything else aside those fall apart. Unit/card progression relies on a shard system that takes MONTHS to complete. Equipment crafting is terribly convoluted for some reason. Quality of life is improving overtime but is still woefully terrible at the moment. Too many clicks to get things done and everything else is either a timer or a paid feature.

  4. I have been playing this game pretty regularly for the last 2 years and it’s great. Honestly there are a couple of things that are a little irritating, like not being able to control your party in guild PVP but I can see how it could be an issue, and the AI could use some more complex coding besides “Buff and only use the same 3 abilities” but those are little gripes. Overall it’s a fun game and honestly the original story is really interesting very GoT-esque. Overall 10/10, would recommend!!

  5. KrazyKoto dice:

One of the most frustrating, unoptimized experiences I’ve had in a while. This game will crash on summons, crash during tutorials, and even loading up shops. It’s riddled with bugs and graphical glitches. This game has an intriguing story, but suffers from a lack of love from developers to do any basic maintenance. I haven’t even tried multiplayer. What is the point when the game crashes so often? Please, I want to experience this game.

  6. This game is a lot of fun if you are a FF series nerd or just like strategy games. There is a lot to learn when jumping in, the screens can be difficult to navigate and find the different challenges needed to further your characters but overall it is a lot of fun and the story is entertaining at the very least!

  7. What I wrote before isn’t true anymore. It’s still a grindy game but they added background repeats which means you can log in and do 15 minutes~ of dailies and then set your account to grind for as long as you want on a quest and then you can login later and collect the rewards. It severely cuts down on the time spent monitoring the game. Really amazing change. And the best part is, if you still want to play the arena or buy things from the shop, you can do that while the repeat is running!

  8. Been playing from almost the start of this game. It has its moments and I’ve been entertained with it thus far. Starting with one annoyance, the chat feature really needs some work to provide more interaction globally and in guilds. Haven’t explored some features of this game due to that. Now with one plus in the game, I think the expansion of content has been good for the most part. Although the argument that it’s overbloated can be made. I think more consolidation is needed for that.

  9. Decent stat mechanics, better story than ffbe. The auto-play AI is pretty good. However the in-battle UI needs work, simply telling a unit to move to a square is a pain. There’s no transparency for terrain so you need to rotate the camera whenever there’s a hill/tree, no recognition for squares you can’t move to (e.g. occupied by another unit), and switching to top-down view spins the map to a pre-set orientation, with no icons distinguish units other than the tops of their 3d models.

  10. Brings back memories of my numerous FFT playthroughs. The level of depth and detail provided in this game is exactly what a FFT sequel would require to be a game worth playing. The artwork is amazing. The music is excellent. The 3D rendering could use some work. A major drawback are the magnitude of microtransactions and their prices. It’s almost laughable. $80 USD for a single character or ‘Unit’ with a few consumable items? That’s just silly.

  11. This game is tons of fun. When you can play it. It’s been months but Gumi refuses to fix their bugs. It frequently crashes on the load screen. Then, if you can get past that, it crashes on the home screen. When you’re allowed to hit a button, that will also crash the game. In the rare event you can actually play the game, there’s also a memory leak that will eventually . . . You guessed it! Crash the game! Then, you get to start that frustrating process all over again.

  12. The game is good. Though as many have said before- it lags. A lot. It would be so much better if you fixed this issues. That and also it tends to crash quite a bit too. Also adding more crossovers like Neir automata and Replicant will be really cool. It would also be cool if there were event story lines that tie into the crossovers as well. Plus the drop rates need to be better. Plus the UI still needs a little work. Fix these issues and it will be a much better experience. For now four stars.

  13. Final Fantasy Tactics is one of my favorite games and a classic. This game could have been better. It takes advantage of various technological improvements and looks great. However it gacha mechanics make it a wasted opportunity. It is not an strategic challenge. You have to do dumb things like leave the fight on repeat, the phone on mute and go to sleep so that characters level up and you don’t waste precious time grinding. It had a ton of potential and lost most of it to make money.

  14. The game for me has been crashing and freezing a lot, probably due to server issues but it doesn’t really bother me too much since it’s still a new game. Always have been a fan of FF Tactics and this game does an amazing job with the gameplay. Unfortunately, the story is it’s weakest part. Not a lot of likable characters and what the hell is up with the dialogue of just leaving people hanging by not answering a question or explaining motives. I had to stop playing the story at chapter three.

  15. Very enjoyable so far. The only problem I have is that the game becomes unresponsive at times. I try to tap certain commands and it becomes unresponsive. I sometimes have to turn my screen at a weird angle to get any sort of response. Really affects my ability to enjoy the game. Especislly because Im a die hard FF Tactics fan and this is very nostalgic.

  16. Matt F dice:

The artwork and graphics are great. From there it’s downhill. The UI is a nightmare of clunky menus within menus within menus. The story is cliche and bland. Even at launch, the grind is long. Character growth requires not just XP but collecting dozens of items. Battles take very long for a mobile game. It is not the kind of game I can accomplish much on a short break at work. All of that on top of an unfair gacha. There are better designed, more fun mobile games out there.

  17. I played the original FF tactics on the PS1 and the port for that on the phone. Honestly the controls and the way the menus are set up on the FF tactics port were much better, and that’s a freaking PS1 game. There’s way too much stuff in here that hinges on payed currency. Yes you CAN play without paying. But after you play for a bit, you’ll see the volume of skills and items and how much stuff it requires to do anything. This would have been much better if they had made it simpler.

  18. Tifa dice:

I want to like this game, but the constant crashes and patch releases that continue to break the game make it difficult to play. Pros: – Interesting combat system if you are a fan of Final Fantasy Tactics. – Okay storyline; improves over time as you get further in. Starts out slow but does build up. – Not a money sink unless you want it to be. Cons: – Never-ending cycle of crashes. – Lots of patching…that results in loads of bugs and crashes. After a year, one would think the game should be past this. But it gets worse every update.

  19. I like this game and it’s pretty interesting with the plot and characters. I have been a fan of Final Fantasy for a long time and I’ve played games similar to WOTV, and this doesn’t disappoint. However, the game tends to crash a lot for me. I’m somewhat reluctant to play because the game tends to crash most when I am attempting to advance in the story or if I am attempting to upgrade my units. I hope this crash issue gets fixed!

  20. It’s a great game. I love the tactics feel and the animations…but the big problem right now is the game keeps crashing at the start menu. I keep trying to login and every now and then I’m successful but while during play BAM the game crash’s…please fix this issue. I have a Samsung 10 and I never had this problem before. I don’t wanna stop playing so please fix!

  21. It leaves a lot to be desired. This game had so much potential, because its a refined version of the mechanics from final fantasy tactics. I wish they brought back the law system and the ability-learning through equipping gear that was used in Final Fantasy Tactics Advance. In order to level up characters and progress in a competitive way, you need to farm for hours. Otherwise, its a pay-to-win (PTW). So basically, prepared to get really bored quickly unless you pay.

  22. Love the game. Wonderful visuals, amazing art, and generous rewards for logging in, it’s a great game. Been playing since release and have lived it since. However there are problems! Issues with crashes, issues with lag, I actually needed to uninstall the game and reinstall it to play today and it’s not the first game by the company I’ve had to do so. Given their 1st Anniversary Event is happening soon I’m afraid of missing out just because of the game itself. Otherwise keep up the great work!

  23. billy r dice:

This game is awesome so fun to play, the only downside to the game is that it is alittle hard to get some of the special characters that are offered. Also sometimes there is too many characters offered at the same time for the same duration making it difficult to get both. But other than that it is amazing. Maybe it could be a little waste collect the vision crystals to buy characters other than the download versions

  24. The most predatory micro-transaction scheme I have ever encountered in a game. I can’t even think of one that comes close, at least that I’ve tried to play. The game is made to be intentionally tedious and repetitive, then allows you to pay to remove the awfulness. Like a kidnapper, holding a gun to “fun’s” head, threatening to pull the trigger unless you pay up. You can even purchase tickets to skip the story missions! Think about that for a second.

  25. It started off feeling like FF Tactics, which I love. It quickly devolved into grinding on auto, even pushing you in the tutorials to do so, which is antithetical to a tactics game. Also the controls are really imprecise and frustrating. I can spin the camera to any angle and tap the same spot like 20 times and still have my unit try to stand in every spot but the one I’m trying to move it to. There’s a lot of unfulfilled promise here.

  26. Loading times seem abit long for me, it uses a system that keeps track of “paid” vs “earned” premium currency and once you beat the story (which is very short right now) there’s not a lot of anything to do. Also you can’t switch off auto skills so now one of my great units is useless because it just spams the same debuff all the time and I can’t stop it. It’s a nice looking game, it’s just got a lot of issues.

  27. Appearance is quite beautiful, that being said I don’t play games because they look pretty. As a game I couldn’t get into it. It seems to have followed the same issue other mobile games have (too many collectables) and it just seems from that alone it will be a bit cash grabby. It might not be idk, I got kinda lost in the tutorial. I’ll go back to playing the original final fantasy tactics.

  28. Great concept, story, and art, but all of this is tainted by the bad programming. The game crashes over and over again. What’s the point of releasing features if the game crashes every 10-15 minutes doing the most menial things like NAVIGATION. This is a product management problem as much as it is an engineering problem. The PM needs to devote some cycles to stabilize the product.

  29. Just like everybody else, I enjoy the game a lot and personally think it’s one of the best mobile games out there. It’s especially welcoming of new players with the free vis. When you can play it that is. Every time there is an ios or android update, you can expect the game to be flat out unplayable. For the past 2 WEEKS the game has not even been able to load past the title screen even after reinstalling several times. A shame missing daily bonuses, a bigger shame that this issue is constant.

  30. All its systems are ripped right from Alchemist’s Code. It’s surprising to me how much is pulled from there. I mean, sure, it’s a turn-based tactics game very much like FFT, but does it have to rip off EVERY system? Could you not have found a different way to level jobs and/or skills? It does have really good cutscenes and the story seems promising. The art is fantastic. Edit: Well, I was wrong. After a lot of playing, the story is terrible. There’s not enough space to explain how bad it is.

  31. I’ve played the first ffbe. As well as Final fantasy tactics original on console and android. I was very happy to see this game come out. Only to find a slap in the face. The art is beautiful. The combat system is pretty good. But it’s completely ruined by a overzealous marketing strategy that puts you in a position where you have to spend money or try getting 2000+ awakening materials, that you may buy for in game currency one or two a day for the correct color and grade level and element. fun?

  32. Erzsebet dice:

Great game with a few annoyances. First you must pick one character to level up or you won’t have any resources. There’s a cut scene before you open the game that is hard to get out of and ends up closing. They do free pulls where there’s a gage that fills up to guarantee a ur character, but it always ends before you hit 90%. Take it off if you won’t let it fill. And please get rid of the cut scene killer before you open it. It should be a one time thing!

  33. Big fan of the Final Fantasy series, so this was a game I really wanted to try out. Fun Strategic RPG, but requires a heavy investment of time and effort if you really want to progress in this game. Game play is a bit complex at first, but easy enough to catch on. Graphics are amazing, especially the ultimate moves (limit breaks). Would highly recommend to any Strategic RPG or Final Fantasy fans!

  34. (3/5) I really like the game, but its held back by its “gotcha” tropes. Its not pay to win, but still a grind and way too greedy. The game can be overwhelming with the complexity and little conveyance, so you might need to watch a video for beginners, after you get the hang of it, its fun. (However, the gotcha mechanics need to settle down, considering you get full fledged console games under 70 USD, and you could spend thousands if dollars in this one game, some adjustments are needed.)

  35. I’ve been playing for a year, and sadly can’t recommend. There are other games that use the same engine and have a better story and features. However, the real reason I can’t recommend is because the game has become increasingly unstable. I’m on a Pixel and, like the S20 users, I also experience crashes, freezes, and connection issues. I’ve been putting up with them getting worse with each patch, but sadly, this game is finally completely unplayable

  36. Unoriginal, uninspired, underwhelming. It’s everything that final fantasy has ever stood for. It’s trying to be fft but they lost the complexity and charm that made it such a great game. Just another spend a ton to get duplicates to compete. Tiny game maps, low movement, really bad server. It really doesn’t offer anything you can’t get elsewhere on the play store.

  37. As a long time fan of the FF Tactics series of games, I love this. An outstanding throwback, with actually interesting gameplay and combat. The only problem I have is constant errors and crashing. I’ve been playing nearly a week now, and at least a couple times a day the game tends to crash at random, or suffers from bouts of connection issues. If it helps, my device is an LG Stylo 4. I really hope this gets better, it’d be a shame if my experience was ruined by random crashes.

  38. I absolutely love this title and the franchise. I have been playing final fantasy and tactics game since I was a kid and still playing now. I gave this game 3 stars instead of the 5 star rating it deserves due to the fact it’s just not too much to do on the game. I love the graphics, the story, the character design and personality, and the afk leveling as an option. I also feel there should be more characters unlocked through story, boss raids, and unlocked through challenges.

  39. I’m 65 and love Final Fantasy games but haven’t been able to play since FFVII. When I saw this one for the tablet, I was overjoyed. I love the game, the graphics and being able to play with others. My only issue has been how often it freezes or drops, usually after only 20-30 minutes of play. I have a good internet connection, deleted games so that there would be no memory issues, regularly empty the cache on everything on the tablet so I can’t see an issue on my end.

  40. VennRune dice:

I’ve been playing for the past 3 days. And from what I’ve played, the tutorial is a bit slow and holds the player’s hand a little too much but its very fun afterward. The story is very engaging and the gameplay style is similar to that of the Final Fantasy Tactics games. I would prefer if it was optiomised a little bit for chromebook but its okay if that doesn’t happen.
