Band app makes having to keep up with multiple kids in different sports or activities much easier. Being able to join or create a group where people can communicate, post updates and info is great. And you can be apart of multiple groups at once. I gave 4 🌟 because the notification sound is dumb (I miss alot) and you can’t change it in app-that I know of and every message is tacked to the bottom of the same thread. There’s no separation to making it easier to find a specific post or info
It’s ok. But 1 star because of the following situation, which happens too frequently for me: When I tap the app or a notification, I often will get a full green screen with Band App logo with the app never fully opening, which is extremely annoying…clearing cache/force stops/updates don’t help. Uninstall/reinstall doesn’t help, either. So frustrating and random. Literally missing messages about an important upcoming event as I type since the App won’t even open.
I really do like this app :D! It’s been such a blessing during covid and has helped me and my peers stay connected. My one complaint is that I can send voice memos that are up to 5 minutes only. In addition to that, I can’t skip around in the voice message so if I miss something, I have to relisten to the entire thing. Also, when I leave the app with a voice memo playing, it cuts off and I have to go back to play it from the start again 🙁 Other than that, this app is great!
Great concept, but significant lagging with posts. I love the idea behind this app and it does so many great things. However, when I post or comment there is a noticeable lag. Also, when videos are posted, there is a lot of stuttering and pausing on replay. I’ve done a lot of troubleshooting on my end, and I don’t think it’s my phone/ WiFi. It must be the app. Unfortunately, it makes the enjoyment level significantly deceased. Feel free to respond with technical suggestions.
It’s not bad, would have liked to see more calendar views such as daily, weekly, monthly, yearly as a full spread of events is often helpful to view. Other critique I have is making the events that last a few days run as a bar across those days rather than just a dot for each day. Would be additionally helpful in visualization of events spanning longer than a single day. Looking forward to an update that may include the above listed!
I have found this app to be very, very useful in getting my band and parents organized, but I’ve also run into a problem with notifications not getting pushed through, even while turned on – and it’s hampering our communication. I’ve just switched phones and now my own notifications won’t arrive until I open the app in the foreground – even in the background, it won’t update. If we could have a fix for that, a lot more of our students and parents would probably be better about using the app.
I love this app! I use it for home schooling! We have a Band for each subject. Everything is color coded, neat, and organized! I love that we can share Band posts with other Bands, which makes creating the syllabus so easy! If I could change one feature, it would be the polls (We use these for quizzes and some tests!). It would be nice if we could reopen a poll once it’s been closed. Maybe add a feature for tabs in the bands. Other than that, definitely one of my favorite apps! Thank you!
I use this to run my girl scout troop & love it. It’s very user friendly for the non- techie. The only thing I would change would be is for it BAND to automatically save a draft of a post. Sometimes I get interrupted & then close out all windows, forgetting that I was composing a post. Edited 11/2021 from 4 to 5 stars because the app was improved to include the post draft save feature (several months ago), and I can’t wait to use a new feature to track the frequency of member check-in.
It is a great idea. However, when I downloaded it last night while sleeping then turned on my phone this morning, several apps said that they were not longer working. So many apps did this (repeatedly), I couldn’t use my phone at all. Went to safe mode and deleted the Band app and now all is well. Very disappointed. Had some great expectations but now I’m scared to download it again.
Far too many irrelevant notifications. Constant notifications from the app itself about features they have, and no way to turn them off without disabling all notifications. We use this app for coordinating our marching band, and these junk notifications are useful to no one. The app is generally very slow to load, which is a big issue over a variable mobile phone connection.
It is okay, most of the time. Usually not too many issues, but recently I ran into a problem where the screen will black after I open the app and immediately after, the app crashes. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled a couple times, restarted the phone and cleared off some other apps, but it just doesnt want to cooperate with me.
Awesome and Powerful Tool We’ve been using this for our church youth group and it’s been incredibly useful! Convenient for us youth leaders in order to organize events, announcements, etc, and the youth loves it too because it gives them a dedicated place for them to socialize and see what people are up to. I wish the aesthetics of the calendar was a little better (it ends up looking rather small and cluttered), but everything else is just super!
It’s great and really helpfull! It is free, and you don’t need to buy anything for this to work! It is really easy to use, helps me to commuticate with my friends, has a calendar to show upcoming events you can make, gives you notices if theirs anything new, and lots of other cool things, too! I recommend that if you need to talk to a group in any sort, get this app!!!
edit: the team was quick to fix bugs/outages. This app is very useful and I recommend it to anyone who needs and app to keep their groups up to date. The user interface is user friendly and fresh, very nice app. Customer service was also very quick to reply to me when I had problems logging in (it was just a server outage and not a personal problem).
It’s mostly fine, I guess. But if you don’t like read receipts, there’s no way to disable them and they will be sent even if you’ve only opened your drop menu to access system functions where the notification had been displayed. There’s also no way to post images without thumbnails from all of your recent media appearing on screen. I reached out to the developer who didn’t help. This is particularly annoying as my job requires me to use it. I’ll be accessing from chrome and uninstalling.
Really like the app. It is somewhat hard to navigate but that comes with practice. The plethora of features make up for the time taken navigating. But I wish the notifications would show their content on a smart watch. So far, on all of my various smart watches, when I receive a Band notification it only shows “BAND: Go to Band” on any of the watches.
I’ve put my review to 1 star. Their “promotional” content is getting more and more prevalent. You can’t block it from popping up because it counts as a normal band post which is so stupid. When the whole point of this app is to be able to manage notifications efficiently I’ll probably find a solution elsewhere. Previously I said this app was just a work in progress but it had potential. Good changes are slow to come and they’re trying to capitalize too hard on a very unfinished product.
5/2/22 Update; Having trouble with Band not alerting audibly on some chat messages. Sent in a message to the help line and was told to send screenshots….. of a noise that isn’t happening. Not sure what to do. Still frustrated with tripping on the functions are only on the phone app vs the website. Also I REALLY wish that the names in the sign-ups didn’t grey out when the slots are full. The text is so TINY that it almost disappears when it goes grey. One other question. Is there any chance that Band will start tracking cumulative hours for community service groups. I really need that function! Starting to look around for something that can do both, even a paid app. Sign-Up Genius can do some of this, but it is pricy at that level. I wouldn’t mind paying something, but they are a bit high. Great app, especially for free! The ability to do signups and polls is really helpful. Definitely helps with communications, especially with chronically non-communicative teens! Couple suggestions; 1. It would help if I could see who has read group chats, not just how many people. 2. It REALLY needs a “users manual”, as opposed to a bunch of clips. Biggest complaint I get, and has kept my older leaders from using it well. 3. Having all of the functions work on the app AND the website. Thanks!
It’s ok. Being in several different bands, we use this app for marking ourselves not available for bookings. Unfortunately, maybe it’s me, but I cannot find a way to sync the different Band calendars. I have it export to my Google calendar, but having to mark myself out on numerous Band calendars is inconvenient and time consuming. I wish i could just enter it once, and it syncs amongst the different Band calendars. App is not very user friendly.
Band does everything you are looking for to manage a team. Posts, attendance, calenders, photos, chat, files, polls, livestream and more…. Literally everything in one place. There’s nothing else out there with everything you need in one place like band has, you can even use it on your phone and a computer or tablet. It’s a coaches dream app. Love it!!!
It’s a fine, reliable app. I was able to get news about events that had been scheduled in February and receive them a few days beforehand for a quick reminder. It does have a few annoyances, like it will ALWAYS notify when someone else has responded to a post and the day before a scheduled event, the app will notify you at 1 AM. Besides those nitpicks, it’s pretty easy to use for organizing groups of people and posting whatever you need for others to catch up with certain info. Recommended 👍
I use this app to manage my dance fitness class communications with my students. Very easy to set up and integrates well with Google calendar. It automatically notifies my subscribers of schedule changes or special events. Love how easy it is for even the novice mobile phone or desktop user to receive push alert and be able to message back that they received it.
App worked great for a few months. I was able to connect with all my groups however, in the past few weeks I have not been able to get on the app. It won’t even load. The only way I can get in is by checking a notification and once I’ve done that, I can’t go to the home page. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled to no avail. Please help. I love the app when it’s in working condition. UPDATE!! App has started working back to normal. I’m able to get in, see messages, posts and comment on all again!!
This app took a great deal of time getting used to but everything is a lot more accessible from the home tab where you can see the chats the newsfeed and notifications. The calendar has really been very beneficial but I have not used voice chat. I do like the privacy options because I hate sharing my phone number but still love being able to stay connected with everyone within our group. The polls and statistics really makes my goals a lot easier to get accomplished.
This is a horrible app. I do not get notifications on my phone, and yes I do have the app set to push notifications for everything to my phone, we frequently miss updates and schedule changes and show up late, early or to the wrong location because of recent changes to schedule that we don’t know about because the app shows no notification. Groupme app shows notification always and can send text messages to a phone without even installing the app, it is a way better option.
Clunky, counterintuitive and confusing. WAY too many settings notifications and others that can’t be turned off, terrible interface design and awful, intrusive and irrelevant “Notices” and other garbage content that just gets in the way. This app should be dumped – look elsewhere for better solutions. If the developer has to refer people to the BAND Guide, something is really wrong.
We used GroupMe for years to TRY to coordinate things with family and other groups. It has a calendar function and other things, but nobody ever used them. It essentially became a long, group text. Band has similar functionality, but on steroids! I love the fact that you can link a Google calendar so that events show up in Band, but members can have things on their calendar if they subscribe to the Google one! The interface needs a little help, but it’s pretty good! IDEA: I would love it if they made it possible to change the background of a post to a color or picture (with some transparency). That way you the group’s posts would contrast a little more and thereby be more organized. There’s A LOT of advertising if you do not change things in settings. I know they need to make money to keep making the app improving, but there’s a lot – just sayin’. There are a few members of our current group that prefer GroupMe. Most, including me, much prefer Band.
This group organization app is set up as a social media feed much like Facebook. It provides many features that you can’t get from other apps like it and can easily sync to a Google calendar. So that you wouldn’t have to reenter all your info. They are also always looking to improve and are open to feedback and user generated features.
I think this app is well-suited for sharing with and communicating with a group of people. The features on here are very useful for receiving feedback from other teammates. I used this app to work on a group comic, and the fact that half our team was in another state made no difference. I recommend at least trying the app out if you’re on the fence. It’s a great, free app for organization.
Its ok. Pros- makes it really easy to keep the office up to date with current job progress and its a easily navigated app most of the options are self explanatory. Cons- im constantly having to close and reopen the app to get it to load pages the app seems to double post frequently and load times are kinda slow lately the pages are loading up as blank pages and i have to close the app and re open it to get it to load (edit– the app is quickly becoming the bane of my existence)
The app is fine I guess. It might be ok if you need lots of functionality, but our group rarely uses anything besides text posts which means I’d rather be on discord. But I can’t stand the Band App notices and tips that send me push notifications intermixed with the actual group notifications. I’ve turned off every setting I can find and they still shove tips and “2021 Best Leader Awards” in my face. Make it stop.
Can not sign up. Email sign up, enter code from email address, then always get “This account is not available”. Different emails, user name, password always the same. Support doesn’t work “WiFi sign to weak”. This is definitely not the case. Checked very strong signal and very fast speed.
This app sends me notifications and then when I click on them it freezes and gets stuck and will not open for hours. I have reinstalled and uninstalled several times. It seems to do this alot more often recently.
The app have good and tons of features, but it’s hard to navigate. I would prefer a simple easy to navigate the app. I would like to see the different groups and the message posted on the front when I open the app and other chats and calendars on other tabs on the bottom. It would make the app easy to manage.
It does an ok job, but I only get notifications sporadically for messages and posts and never with sound anymore. It worked fine at first but has gradually stopped working.
For a few days whenever I try to open the app it just sits at the green screen logo opening and it will stay like that forever! I’ve tried everything to make it stop but it just won’t work!!!
I love this app! As a dance studio owner we previously used a Facebook page, Team App and What’s App to cater to our needs, but Band does it all and my life is simplified now. The only thing I wish Band did was on the post section, display the a full photo like on a Facebook wall (not a thumbnail image to click on). We often use pictures (like a poster) to advertise up coming events and reminders as our parents look at these more than just words. I find they don’t click to open the tiny images.
This is a great app for Girl Scouts!!! I have two troops that utilize this app and they both run so much smoother using Band. I can have them RSVP for activities, answer polls to help make decisions and post all of our meeting plans that get to every parent and girl at once. Great app!
There are good aspects to this app, although they aren’t proprietary to Band. Calendar, sign up, chat, etc. are good to have on an app like this. We need more control over notifications though. Let us selectively unsubscribe to posts that aren’t applicable. Example, I don’t need to see 300 replies to a post that has nothing to do with me. Band app is often followed by a frustrated sigh in my house.
I’m not getting notifications, my posts seem to be rearranging themselves and disappearing and finally it says I have updates but then can’t actually update unless I uninstall first. I wouldn’t actually use this app but it’s what my child’s cubs use so I’ve no choice.
