Need to be able to change the times ranges for the thermostat sensors if you have more than one. Even with multiple thermostat sensors it defeats the purpose if you can’t change the time ranges. Despite following all the trouble shooting guides. The app on the phone won’t connect to the thermostat at times. Voltage on battery is good, thermostat says it is connected to the app, can add thermostat to the to the app shows offline. This happens at least once every few months then goes away.

  2. So far it’s been very good, especially at night the pics are crystal clear . very happy with my cam. I have an issue with it being turn off every so often and i don’t touch the setting at all. It’s been a great tool add on to my home feel safe all the time i know i can scan across the area and see clear every object in it’s way. Worth the money. The only problem is you have to be in place that has wifi or you can’t view if you are away. It is a great tool to have especially work nights.

Excellent app. I’ve been using it for over 10 years on various phones and devices. It’s gives you access to all of your thermostat’s features as well as some features that can’t be accessed through direct interaction with the thermostat. Schedule climate control for the week, connect to adjust the temperature, or lock your thermostat remotely. This app is a dad’s dream. 😂

  4. Works as advertised and does the function of controlling air remotely. Doesnt have some basic features that youd think it might have been built in. Hopin for updates and development. Support over the phone is well managed. Usually endless emails and online support, however, dedicated phone team that will spend time needed to ensure installation and technical support.

  5. No improvements for years. Newer Nest devices only show up in the far worse and very poorly designed Home app, making for a completely disjointed experience. Detection algorithms should have been vastly improved by now, but they’ve completely given up on further development, and just letting Nest age out. They took a great ecosystem and just locked it inside a box and refuse to let it grow. For such a big high-tech company, Google has zero future vision. Sold off all my stock because of this.

  6. 10/1/22 still only works sometime. I’ve had this for several years…Stopsworking frequently…I have uninstalled and reinstalled. it’s still more convenient than getting up to go to change the temperature…OK 6 months later…. I’ve been using it a lot in the past couple of months… The problem I have most is when I adjust the temperature it doesn’t come on I have to play with it. Hope this was helpful.

This app provides an overview of your whole house on open. No messages to clutter your view. Provides live view of all cameras so you don’t need to open to each camera to see its status. If you want to hear what’s going on then you can click and open it. Very Very clean. Like I’ve said, nothing clutter the area…like Ring app which trying to advertise its products on the main screen. Very annoying. This is why I stick with Nest products.

  8. Very good app! I have not bought any of the new generation because I heard it doesn’t work for this app. I love the interface and it’s specific to my cameras and doorbell without having to scroll through my long list of smart devices on Google home. Only thing it could do better is recognizing people in zones but for most part it’s a great app.

  9. It is frustrating how often this thermostat “helps” you by shutting off your ac. Yes, it makes electric use cheaper, but I am paying to cool my house. I’m not interested in saving money by sweating all day long. It is nice to be able to set the thermostat remotely. I can turn the system off when I leave, and turn it back on about an hour before I get home. I also like being able to look at the history of energy use on a day by day basis. I just get tired of reminding it to stay on when I set it!

Troubleshooting the Wi-Fi could be easier. The app is almost too basic, if the Wi-Fi is not working, you have very little info from the app to help you. Another thing, the notifications could be a lot better. They also sound exactly the same, no matter the event, and I wish they were more customizable. Edit: why not show more custom notification? When my backyard camera thinks it sees a person at 2 AM, I want a loud alert.

  11. We inherited an older nest thermostat with the house we rent, and after clearing the previous tennants strange schedule programming, it’s been a great device. The app itself is intuitive, especially when groggily messing with the settings near midnight. Usually only takes a few seconds to respond to commands. I like the different scheduling features, for fans and eco and what not, relatively easy. GUI is stable, looks perfect, haven’t encountered bugs. Good job!

  12. Lots of features, very limiting and never gets new features or improvements. This is a dead project from Google used to collect user data. My main complaint is the sensors. They’re basically useless. You can set the temperature based on any specific sensor, but this setting rarely works. Would be nice if they worked the way they’re supposed to. Went through support about this but it still doesn’t work. Would be nice if the fan could kick on when a sensor’s temp deviates, to equalize the temps.

  13. I Am dice:

Works very well, I do miss the ability to turn on our house fan to dry the shower area. I know it can run every 15 minutes on the hour, but taking a shower can happen whenever, not the beginning of each hour. Recent change to app. I am no longer able to turn on fan without heat or air being on. I don’t need this option, I just want to turn fan on.

  14. I have had this app about a year and use it for security with 6 cameras both indoor and outdoor. The zones work pretty well, But there are still a lot of false notifications… Headlight reflections are a big one, even when person detection is on. Also if the brightness changes quickly as when the sun pops in and out of clouds. The latter I think could be fixed if multiple cameras see the same event it gets canceled?

  15. I had my smoke detectors set up when I first bought them. They disappeared from the app, so now I need to re-add them. First one took a while, but it connected after reset. Second one, failed. I reset that one. Try to add. Failed over and over. Third one in the basement haven’t tried because it would be in same boat as the entry way alarm. Stuck with 3 dumb smoke alarms that don’t connect with each other so a fire downstairs, or in basement, won’t set off the upstairs one. Safety issue!!!!!!

  16. 👍The lock feature is great on the app. I really like just about everything. 👎For a smart thermostat it’s not really smart- The cooling/heat feature are either heavy on the cooling side or heavy on the heating side. Meaning, in the fall and spring when temp outside varies day to day. Inside one day might be cool at night and the same temp another day might be warmer inside. 👍 There are some good features like fan scheduled on and off. Schedule temp feature needs to be a calendar not 7 days.

  17. The app is mostly fine, but the Nest functionality could be enhanced. Can’t turn on the fan unless you turn on AC or Heat first. In my home, just running the fan could circulate cooler air from basement without needing AC. also at night it would be great to have the fan run on and off e.g. 15 min per hour but there’s no option for that. App a little tricky to select the temp you want, tends to slide several degrees at a time.

  18. App is very easy to use and I like the way it is setup. The bad is I can set the temp on my thermostat and look back at it just a few minutes later and it can be something different. The app disconnects and I have to log back in. It’s very slow and laggy to login and respond most of the time. I just wish it worked quicker and more efficiently.

  19. Mel B dice:

I have the Nest connect + Yale lock and the app is always offline. So most times I cannot use the app. Troubleshooting is a hit or miss on fixing the issue. I love the fact I can program the lock, keep track on history, unlock/lock the door, etc. But none of the great features matter when the app is always offline because then there is no way to access those features.

  20. Years in and the Nest fights me more than hos me, and still doesn’t support multi/variable speed fans properly. If it wasn’t for the money I’d replace it. It’s fine. A bit slow. Does what I need. Edit: thanks for the response, but no, it’s not my device or router. App is up to date. Same thing happens on all our devices, and whether Nest is on router or Ubiquiti wifi and whether it’s on Google Fiber or ATT Fiber.

  21. Good and bad. The app itself is lovely, responsive, and intuitive. It can take a little getting used to it, but overall it’s solid as a home automation ecosystem. That said, it’s missing some easy win, key features, that really make it second rate to Ecobee and others. You can’t adjust what time to use remote sensors, one preset times. You can’t do functions like maximum or average between sensors. There’s just some functionality missing..

  22. Thermostat doesn’t do what it’s supposed to do a lot of time. Sometimes it senses when I’m home, sometimes it doesn’t. After setting a schedule, it gets altered either mysteriously or by Google trying to “save me money”. I’ve opted out of this feature several times, but it doesn’t seem to make much of a difference. Our thermostat it set very low in the winter (55-62 degrees) and high in the summer ( 84-79 degrees). Moving it one degree in either direction, as Google does , really is not helpful.

  23. I am really disappointed in the app. First, using it on a Pixel 6 Pro, I would expect it to work flawlessly. Well, not completely. When trying to schedule, the interface is clunky and slow to respond. I also feel that it really isn’t very intuitive. In addition to this, there is no option to schedule your thermostat to start Eco mode! This is a big overlook. You can make the thermostat go into Eco mode manually and, schedule something to make it stop, but can’t schedule it to start.

  24. The app is easy to use and connect to all its devices. One camera however will lose a signal too often which is frustrating and sometimes takes too long to refresh the view, so what your seeing is not always “real time”. I have up to date internet 75/75 speed, and an extender also, so not sure where that problem lies… The view is very clear and the microphone picks up sounds extremely well. I am also able to control my thermostat while at work so I’m not wasting resources.

  25. Somehow my has my thermometer on a automatic schedule, which I try to change because it gets too hot, and it just keeps raising the temp which is pretty frustrating. I may be missing something, either way it’s not too user friendly and it’s very inconvenient. I do like the ability to change the temp from my phone and I find that cability rather simple.

  26. Scott F dice:

As of a recent update within the past week or two, Nest seems to detect when I’m away and set the thermostat to Eco, but often fails to detect when I return home. I realize a short time later when I get notifications from cameras that are only set to notify when I’m not home or I’m like, “It’s really hot in here”. Otherwise, the app seems fairly consistent lately which is good

  27. Pam dice:

This app tries too hard to automate things to be “eco friendly”. It does this without your approval and the controls to turn it off are buried. Setting the temp schedule is clunky at best. The thermostat does not tell your unit to turn on until it is 2 deg off of its setting. It keeps sending you a nag screen to set up 2 step login. Seriously? On a thermostat that no one can benefit from unless you are at that location? Would I buy it again? I would probably look harder at other brands first.

  28. Cynthia S dice:

Used to be great. The app was a great upgrade that let us see who is at the door quickly. The past few months the quality has degraded severely, it can take a full.minute to load the camera stream which makes it useless when the doorbell rings. I might as well switch to one that records video and will actually load.

  29. Home/Away Assist Almost Never Works Properly. The app knows when I leave home, but the AC or heat almost never activate when I return. I checked all the boxes (same home, same wifi, turned feature off then back on…) for this feature to work as intended, but once I leave that setting, the app tells me something like “it’s been a few days since we’ve last heard from your phone,” even when it’s only been a few minutes. It’s an otherwise nifty system but I’m starting to wonder if I wasted money…

  30. Wanderlust dice:

Scrubbing your recorded history keeps getting worse. It use to be that it would take awhile to load certain sections of past recordings. Now there are numerous blacked out sections, almost every ten minutes. Makes it impossible to scrub back and check footage. I almost feel like it is purposeful introduced to cut back on data use and traffic.

  31. Update: set up is major difficult if you have a router booster especially linksys 6 wifi. Once you get this working it works beautiful. I like that you can choose what you want to be notified about. I do feel that they need an easier set up. I will tell you that this door bell does not work with the Linksys Atlas 6 router enhancer. It will not allow you to connect to WI fi. I had to disconnect them in order to get the door bell will work. Thank I think you need to fix that frustrating flaw.

  32. Frank Ruth dice:

Changing the schedule is a bit cumbersome. Having to go in and change the schedule every time you want to keep a temperature on hold is annoying. Heating the house when I am away is expensive. Should be able to set the temp and hit “hold”. I have three or four different schedules on different days. It is very annoying to go into the schedule and change it, and change it back when I get home. Even the cheapest thermostats have a hold function. Can’t belive you can’t do a firmware update.

  33. Camera is amazing but the app is terrible, it is so buggy and laggy, and sometimes refuses to open. Crashes often, and sometimes when we do get the app open it won’t let us turn the camera on. Zoom freezes on occasion and overall just not on level with the video quality of the camera itself. Camera is accessed through multiple devices so it’s not a phone issue. **Update** Over two years later and still a buggy, garbage app that doesn’t work properly.

  34. Not a fantastic ux. Menu differences are frustrating at best, managing a temperature sensor should only have one location. Update 2022 – my frustrations stand. Due to the location of the thermostat, it frequently switches to away mode despite being home. The issue is not frequent enough to warrant changing the setting, but noticed enough to be frustrating.

  35. The app is trash. It does what ever it wants whenever it wants. Doesn’t follow your preset Temps. It actually works worse than the cheapest thermostat on the market since at least the cheapest thermostat follows what you tell it. Don’t buy this thing. When we first got it the thing was amazing followed presets did some smart things. Fast forward to today it changes our temps outside of what we set even though we have turned off every smart feature.. Now it’s garbage.

  36. Have had my Nest Gen 3 thermostat for a bit over a year. Up until a month or two ago the app worked flawlessly in conjunction with the thermostat. Now, however, there’s like a delay or a bit of a disconnect between the app and thermostat. The thermostat will show blue in the app even when the AC isn’t running. And adjustments made from my phone take a while to make it to the thermostat. It used to respond instantly and stay in good sync. Has this issue across multiple mobile devices

  37. DeWitt dice:

Presence sensing for home/away assist gets worse and worse. It used to turn the camera on, set the thermostat to eco, and undo that when one of us came home. Now we’re lucky if it ever does it at all. The camera comes on when we leave most of the time, but it only turns off half of the time. Eco mode has to be done “manually”

  38. It was cool when it came out but to be honest, it really doesn’t have many useful features that would warrant it better than a programmable thermostat and you can’t see last years useage or what temp it was outside for any prevuous day. For as long as this has been out, you would think they would have changed something???? But nope! Again, looks cool but it falls short; like when you switch to Apple cuz everybody thinks its cool but lacks a lot compared to other brands. But its so cool: USA $ 😎

  39. Nest does not follow set temperatures and decides to turn on and off in its own. It doesn’t work as described and has actually caused higher energy bills than my old non smart thermostat. Also the app doesn’t allow us to turn it on when we are coming back to the house. It will give error codes saying that it isn’t in the correct status and that you need to be there in person to adjust.

  40. Used to work ok when first installed. We have 2 phones for our nest thermostat and both set to use the home/away assist feature. One phone works fine but on the other the app doesn’t hear from the phone, so it will set to away when the phone is home. This occurred on both an old phone and then also a replacement phone. Another more recent issue is that it doesn’t show total hours of use in history and shows no usage when there is usage. But usage is there when you press to see hourly details
