  1. So far, this has been a pretty good experience. The only con is the occasional boot, well for me anyway. it usually runs fast but occasionally a movie will lag. i didn’t care for the buck hike so quickly after joining. I can’t remember the exact time it took atm, but none the less it sucked! All in all, I still gave them 5 because the service is on point 99 percent of my time and the customer service is above outstanding.

  2. Hello Dee dice:

I want it back the way it was before they changed it!! I open the app and now it won’t even connect it searches forever! I have already reached out to support twice!! If this does not get fixed soon I will be canceling my subscription and finding a new one!! I was working perfectly before the upgrade which by the way I like the old layout better!! If it’s not broke then don’t fix it.. cause now you messed with it and it is only functioning at .5% which only let’s me open the app!!

  3. I’m having the same problem as everyone else. It will not connect! This VPN works fine on my firestick, but not on my Android phone. I’ve tried everything I can think of. I uninstall the app and reinstall it; I’ve cleared the cache, and I clear data. I tried different protocols and settings; nothing seems to work. It looks like I’m going back to Nordvpn. I’m not sure if the problem my fault or ipvanish is fault. But I did get it working so I’ll get four stars for now.

  4. No longer connected on Android after latest update. PC connection was fine. Restarted the phone, but did not fix. Uninstalled app and reinstalled it. Now everything is back to normal. I’ve never had a real issue with the app in the years I’ve used it until after the latest update. All in all the app is good and dependable.

  5. Like many others I’ve used ipvanish for years and the latest update (worse UIX) the app fails to connect constantly. Sits and spins on the main screen and in the connection screen gives a generic error so you have no idea what’s going on. Let me get ahead of the boiler plate responses. I should not have to clear my app cache I should not have to reset my settings I should not have to uninstall and reinstall just to get it to connect. Also, my account is in good standing so that is not an issue

  6. Medusa dice:

I’ve used the app for years and it’s been great. Now after the update it never connects, regardless of what country, state, or individual server I pick. Switch connection type, still doesn’t work. Restart phone, doesn’t work. Reinstalled the app 3 times, problem isn’t resolved. Stop claiming you “didn’t change anything under the hood”, the new app is broken. Stop gaslighting people, we’re not idiots.

  7. After verifying account, I was told to follow a link to change the password. That failed. Oh, it simply expired by the way, the account. So, I cannot simply pay, nor change password. Catch 22 limbo land. I cannot make a new account with my only email address. At this rate, I may have to subscribe to someone else’s service, as I do not want to be without a VPN for this long. Product? Good. Service? Sucks.

  8. Peace of mind mostly. I’ve tried a few VPNs, but this works best, especially on the phone. The only issue I have (and literally the only thing stopping me from giving it 5 stars) is the loss of connection when switching from WiFi to mobile data. If I leave the house, and my phone switches from WiFi to mobile data, it pauses my connection until I either turn it off or restart it. Past that, I love it. I barely know it’s there half the time

  9. b east dice:

When it works, it works. The GUI is great, but there’s endless connection issues. The log in or connection problems are not often, but just often enough to be annoying without you switching to another VPN. It completely stopped on Windows 10, even after a reinstall. I got a new laptop and that fixed the problem. The only reason I’m here writing this review is because I had to reinstall on my Android device because of an ‘unknown log in issue’.

  10. Unsure of all the details, but it connects automatically to the fastest server available. I’ve had problems with Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, Starbucks, my bank, as well as others. Their work-around “fixed” them by bypassing the VPN for those apps, but that leaves those apps unsecured. UPDATE: Trying this again after update. No issues! Seems to work 100% so far! Thank you for the fix! Excellent support.

  11. Slow speeds. Bad service. No refunds. I saw a 96% decline in speed to 2 MBPS while using IPVanish. Technical support was unable to fix the problem and kept repeating troubleshooting steps. I prepaid for 2 years, which was a big mistake. They refuse to refund any part of what I paid and I have over year left. Most VPNs have a 4.5 star rating or higher. This one has lower than 4 stars for a reason. Don’t use!

  12. Too many disconnects with Android and Firestick. My ip is exposed too often with no warning and no kill switch. App does not reconnect even though enabled. Too unreliable. Used another vpn for over 5 years with no problem. Wish support was more helpful. Update- Much better now. Not nearly as many disconnects (if any). Still would like kill switch option for Android and Firestick. No problems at all with Windows app. I get great speeds with this VPN.

  13. Very fast VPN I would recommend just a couple of issues. I believe the notifications keep my screen on unless you turn notifications off in the Android menu. Also could we get a kill-switch just like the PC version this occasionally disconnects and I would really like if it will cut the internet if I do not catch it in time. Other than that better than all of the other vpns that I’ve tried.

  14. HJ B dice:

They claim to be undetectable, however, this is not true. When you attempt to use the app with Amazon, Hulu, Netflix, & more an error message pops up. The message says something to the effect of a VPN is being used, disconnect to watch. With Disney+/ESPN you get completely disconnected from the app have to shut down, reset device, then log back into the app being used. I’ve looked up directions, watched videos, contacted support, & followed directions from each. This is last effort, b4 canceling

  15. This is exactly what I needed. I’m visiting Mexico and was being restricted more than I would like. I researched a while before deciding to try out this app for a year. It does push you through geo-restricted sites and apps. They offer a 30 day risk free trial upon purchase. I chose the yearly plan with sugarsync backup. The yearly plan was only $31.99. It does however go up to $99 after the year is up. But the security looks great and if all that ip masquerading works I’ll be renewing.

  16. Don’t seem to work well anymore, I been using it on 3 devices for nearly a year with good results. Now on my 2 laptops it’s still working flawless but for over a month now I been having to disconnect my android phone to get any internet or in some cases it’s very slow if at all. I’m keeping it for another year subscription on the computers but I’ve now removed it from my phone.

  17. I love IPVanish, truly. I use it for every device I own: Linux, windows, and mobile devices. Connection speed itself is fine if you know how to navigate the options in the settings. This being said I am no longer able to use IPVanish with ANY kind of mobile network unless I’m connected through WiFi. As of late though with the recent updates the performance went downhill or won’t connect at all. Which is incredibly frustrating. This used to never be an issue for me, and I’m not sure what changed.

  18. Great low-impact outbound VPN service. In the last~6 – 8 months I’ve been using it, the only thing that I can really say is that I forget which devices I have it running on. It’s that fast. We’re getting 233Mb down on a business class internet connection (best in our area). The only time anyone else knows it’s running is when an app or site like Hulu complain. I actively use this on multiple Androids, Windows, FireTV, & even a Pi occasionally.

  19. I’ve been using this app since Dec 2018 and I’m still using it. I’ve tried other VPN’s and I always come back to this one. I’ve may have had just a couple small issues here and there, but overall I’m totally satisfied. I can always rely on it. Sometimes though I’ll browse through the servers and find one that’s better than the it Auto Reconnects to. Just something to check out for the Folks out there.

  20. Love the product HATE the app layout on WINDOWS (android abd mobile version is fine) but on Windows the window takes up half a screen its ridiculous wheres the old mini mode? Instead of trimming the fat they keep dropping features and visuals. Now the data stream window is gone. Im just about ready to dump ipvanish and go back to expressvpn. The win app keeps getting worse and worse. Now they’ve removed yet another informational component. I love the service but this app is getting ridiculous. It needs the minimal version option back as simy minimizing the entire app isn’t useful when you like to keep an eye on things. Also when minimized or sent to the back on Mac apps are notorious for running much slower regardless of the ram and system cpu etc. This app still needs a complete overhaul. Sorry to seem critical but removing information from the app doesn’t help. It needs reorganized and just put the different screens in tabs or pull down menu or something. The ability to shrink it to a tiny windowed version and still see the speed and where you were connected to was awesome and it was also removed. QUIT with removing stuff! Jesus!

  21. I’ve used this for the last 2 years and I just want to brag about unreliable my connection has been while using IPVanish. My internet connection drops at least 6 or 7 times an hour. Who needs a constant connection for downloads or syncing with large databases? Not us in the 21st century, that’s for sure! I’ll be dropping my subscription when it ends and switch to something more reliable. VPNs are important these days so insist on the best…and it isn’t IPVanish.

  22. In my opinion, this is by far the best VPN app I’ve installed. I’ve tried a couple different ones, paid or free and I think it works best for what I need. Only reason I give it ⭐⭐⭐⭐ is because it didn’t give me discount when I signed up as they claimed. I pay $10.99 monthly for my plan. I’d like to get the yearly subscription for the discounted rate for $35 but don’t want to risk being charged more

  23. This app is fantastic and does all I need and it want from my VPN. The KILL SWITCH was a pivotal update, it swayyed my decision to get this app. This is a MUST for me. I am more of an “Advanced User” and this app allows for a lot more personalization and control for those who like that type o stuff. However, if you want to select auto setup just ONE TIME (the first time) you can literally never open the app again and be safe and secure browsing the web. Also, noticeably fast download speeds

  24. App is generally solid with a nice UI. Main issue is “Auto Reconnect” either doesn’t work or is not aggressive enough, so when the VPN disconnects you must manually reconnect. This is made worse by Android 9 (Pie) since you may not see you’re disconnected with the three notification icon limit. Also, would be nice if it showed how many of your allowed connections are in use and on what devices particularly since it allows so many simultaneous connections per account (i.e., ten).

  25. The least user friendly application on earth. EVERY time the app updates (which is seemingly once a week) I have to authenticate my account with a username and password. The developers probably don’t even use their own app. They can’t even program the app to cache your email address (which is completely dumbfounding) or password. It’s so annoying and I’ll definitely shop elsewhere once my subscription expires. Pass these guys up and don’t take the bait. Horrible user experience.

  26. I’ve been using the service for about a week and I have had zero issues, zero downtime, and a game I played is no longer crashing (convinced they were teaching my usage) and my ISP is no longer throttling me (went from around 25mbps up to around 97 of the 100 I was paying for.) I’ve also been able to stream 4k movies through the service without any lag time, which I was not able to do with my prior VPN. Oh, and I have ALL my devices connected since IPVANISH allows up to 10 devices at a time!

  27. Using since 12-18. All has been fine but the last month has been sporadic. A sho w is fine for hours then it stops for 5-10 seconds because it loses connection. Then you watch for 10 seconds then it stops again and does this till you change channels which it does it again. I’ve changed cities and servers to no avail. I have 80 meg download hardwired to the 4k LG TV. Chat help sends me a url to side load the vpn which wont load. Yes, I’m sure I used capitals where needed, multiple times.

  28. I can keep this always on without noticing any loss in speed. Until this week, I couldn’t say the same for the desktop version, and was considering cancelling my subscription because of it – but then they added support for the WireGuard protocol, and now it works flawlessly on there too.

  29. It’s been several years, and I should have updated well before this. I have had no issues recently. The VPN is fast and stable. I even used it when buying a house from overseas! Worked great. Only issue is that streaming services know I am using it, but there is still enough content out there to watch.

  30. Works well, and I have resd good things regarding the company’s procedures and standards. Now, while I generally don’t mind the mobile app’s fewer options vs the Windows version, the lack of a “kill switch” on mobile is a real issue. ….and it’s becoming a less acceptable one as the feature becomes more standard But for now, since everything else is great my 5 star rating does still stand, but just barely.

  31. Don’t bother. Got it so i can watch netflix in other places and that doesn’t work. When you ask them about it they give you a temporary free membership to an additional software strongdns and then you’ll be able to connect to other netflix servers but support for that is limited to just computers and the additional software in addition to this software is extremely difficult to figure out how the heck this all works. If i could go back in time i would probably get nordvpn instead

  32. Great VPN service, for sure. There’s a lot to like here, most notably the availability of servers and the speed of them. I like that each server shows your potential ping, as well as the server load (how many people are connected to that same server) before you connect. I would recommend always manually selecting your server, rather than always using “best available.” Edit: Now if only they can get the broken, feature-less desktop version to be as good as the mobile version…

  33. Patrick dice:

I have been using IPVanish for a couple of years now. Initially I installed it for my fire TV device and gradually begin using it on my phone laptop and my children’s phones. We have all been happy with it and have had no problems while using it. In fact my renewal day is coming up very shortly so I will have to check the price to determine whether or not I will still be able to use it. Unfortunately, these types of apps can jump in price dramatically.

  34. NOMAD dice:

A truly hardcore VPN. This app is so good that my accounts asked me if I had a change of address to another country. I’m not big on reviews but. I got my 1st year for $35 the renewal is $100 next year. If they kept it at $35 I’d keep the service but I can’t afford $100. But if you can, this app does exactly what it is designed to do. Especially with your fire stick.

  35. Using PPTP is answer to problem? WOW! App was disconnecting, no notification, left unprotected. Subscribed over year, largely happy until recent problems. Don’t even bother contacting customer support. They’re no interested in your problems. Tested other services, found one that will show as their main competitor. No issues, substantially faster speeds. Never coming back to IPVanish. Just search PPTP and be VERY concerned they’d recommend you try this protocol. Totally unethical for a service that is supposed to protect you privacy and security.

  36. AMAZING VPN that I’ve trusted for years, NO ADS!! However, recently it will not allow me to connect to ANY wifi networks public, home, friends houses. Causing ALL networks to say “waiting for network quality to improve”. This doesn’t happen when the VPN is off. The VPN has been unusable ever since I made a new account when I forgot my password. I was due to renew anyways. Smart switch is off, PC connects but says no internet connection. no issue on Xfinity’s end either, I called. Please advise!

  37. Easy to setup and simple to use. it’s pretty much set it and forget it but you wont knowing it’s working to CYA, figuratively speaking of course. It’s advisable not to skip the tutorial and to spend a few minutes with the hopes of potentially learning something new. Also, and most important to me, is it hasn’t really affected my internet speed – and I monitor the M-bits like no one should. Und schussendlich danke schön dass Sie die Deutsche Sprache hinzugefügt haben. Sehr net von Ihnen.

  38. Very unstable on Chromebooks. Repeatedly disconnects and the only way to know is the VPN key symbol disapearing which is dificult to notice. Not great when it doesn’t offer a kill switch. This happens when on a stable WiFi connection. Sometimes it will disconnect because the permission gets revoked even though nothing has changed. Finally, it often disconnects and asks for your password even though again nothing has changed. More stable on my phone but still not great.

  39. I’m finding it difficult to use not sure if it’s because I have Android OS, but many times I cannot connect to certain sites without disconnecting VPN and then connecting to site and reconnecting to VPN. Many sites will not allow me to purchase due to VPN, my personal bank constantly will deny access to my account while using it. It’s easy to use however, in my personal experience has been somewhat of a hindrance. I’ve only seen 3 cities the vpn originates from as well.

  40. Works great but has one flaw in the app If you turn on and off IPvanish a few times and you go to your pull down will see it’s not lite up but says it’s connected. It is connected but not lite up properly. Show icons while using phone normally at top of Android but like I said if pull down the menu screen for controlling pull down options it might not be lite up to show if it’s on or it might show lite up but it’s OFF!

  41. I have been using IPVanish for over 5 years with little trouble. I don’t think I have ever experienced an outage, and it rarely experiences lag. Occasionally I have to switch servers, but more recently I haven’t even been experiencing the need to do that. I always make sure it is running on public or shared networks, and with it being so stable sometimes I forget to disconnect it for days. IPVanish is always one of the first apps I install on a new device. You should too.

  42. no problems at all. I have to say now that I’ve been having a lot of problems with IP Vanish VPN. I’ve had it for a few years but in the last few months it doesn’t stay connected at all times even though I have the killer switch on. It also won’t let many things that i try to look up on the internet go through. When it comes time to renew I won’t be getting this again. I hear theres a new VPN and that’s what I’ll be purchasing for much less money.

  43. Adam Hill dice:

Will not connect! Since the update, it’s useless for me to have this. I have tried all 3 protocol options, signed out and back in, AND uninstalled/ reinstalled…nothing! This needs to be fixed! 11/2/2022 – UPDATE It started working right after last review and worked flawlessly…until the last update. Now we’re back in the same boat.

  44. I can’t say it’s the best because it’s the only one I’ve tried. With that said, it’s been the only VPN I’ve needed. Autotrader is one of the apps that doesn’t work with it, as well as when I share my screen onto my TV. It’s perfect for everything else. At work, on vacation in Indonesia, and for personal use. It’s kept me safe and allowed me to access appropriate but prohibited sites, like espn. It works with mature content for adults also. Lastly, for firesticks and streaming devices, great!

  46. Still “new” to using the IPvanish app, though I’ve been wanting to try it for a long while… I will need to spend some more time getting to know it better before coming back to re-write my feedback on it. However, to be honest, I must say I am thus far quite disappointed in that in these first three days we needed tech support, so we reached out to contact someone and got nothing- no call back, no message, and no email. In MY world, NOTHING beats CUSTOMER SERVICE.

  47. does what it says it, IPVANISH is a must have for when using any public WIFI, or streaming TV. The UI couldn’t be any more intuitive to use. you could have a server setup in a minute, and that’s blindfolded and hitting buttons randomly, most of all it’s peace of mind you really pay for and first time subscription packages have some really great annual deals, penny’s on the £ of the full annual price, which is still reasonably priced and IPVANISH is the first name in Virtual Private Networks. 🔒
