  1. Jt Savoie dice:

Lately, it’s difficult to get shows or movies once you hit play. Call to see if there was an issue on my end, we walked through some troubleshooting, with no results. I was told an email from there support team, was sent in order to resolve the issue, I would need to fill it out; even though the customer service Representative acknowledgment the service having issues… this has gone on for 4 mos, not working, no email still getting charges; prefer my money back.

  2. They must have had to try hard to make a streaming app this bad. (a) UI is super slow to respond to input, (b) video frequently pauses / janks, (c) after commercial breaks, about 85% of the time, it jumps back to the same section of video you *just* watched, sticking you in a loop of trying to fast-forward back to where you were… only to have to watch the same commercials again and again. And all this for a service we PAID for. Atrocious.

  3. Aron R dice:

Hands down the worst streaming app I have ever used. When I tried watching Halo, things like pausing and fast forwarding were a gamble as to whether i’d have to hard reset the app. I’m now trying to watch an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation: “An error has occurred”, I am able to watch the episodes before and after it. I tried force stopping and clearing the cache of the app. I did a hard reset of the Nvidia Shield. Nothing worked. Doesn’t save progress between pc/web and app. Terrible.

  4. App is very slow and buggy. Preview video and audio are turned on by default and VERY LOUD. Go to turn them off in settings and…the app crashes. Takes forever to load any video, and doesn’t remember what episode you’re on in a series. If I could give it 0 stars, I would.

  5. I usually have a problem with the screen going black during commercials. I have to get out if the app and go back in a couple of times and scroll back a couple of frames to get the picture back. Last night 3/4 of the way through a movie, it buffered and then no more sound. I had sound on Netflix so I watched that. Today I tried to watch “Evil,” which is the whole reason I got Paramount Plus. No sound. I uninstalled it and now it won’t let me install it again. This app doesn’t work!

  6. Doesn’t always start the show – sometimes it just spins. Warning – if you choose to pay for a year instead of monthly – you’re stuck – no refunds. Also can’t add Showtime unless you are on the monthly plan. My biggest frustration is I can’t turn off autoplay – at the completion of an episode it immediately starts playing something – and the app decides what to play next. For a while it kept trying to force me to watch The Good Fight – now it starts Twilight Zone without any action on my part. This forces me to stop playing the episode I didn’t want before I can select what I want to watch next. Makes me mad every single time. But, I canceled cable, and between this app and Hulu I can see over 90% of the broadcast TV shows I like to watch. I paid for the commercial free version and have no issues with commercials. Video and sound quality is also fine. I’m primarily using on a Sony android TV.

  7. I tried watching PICARD but it was impossible to understand. Lots of gaps in the audio and stuttering. Screen freezes and the large pause symbol displays, then the program starts again and the same thing happens over and over. And the background audio is much too loud making it difficult to hear the dialogue. And when there is an action sequence with no dialogue the audio volume goes way up. I have to constantly increase and decrease the volume control. I even had Spectrum come out to check all my connections and signal strength. All in all, this whole thing sucks. And there was no Closed Captioning !!!!!

  8. I’m using this on an NVIDIA Shield and the app is dreadfully slow and clunky. From the time I click on the app to the time that the show begins, it will range anywhere from 1 minute to 10 minutes. That’s quite a spread!! It takes forever to get past the blue screen to the screen with the mountain & stars and once I’m into the app and able to click on a show, it takes a long time to load the commercial and then it gets stuck. Just stuck there in the commercial. And if it is able to complete the commercial on the first try, it might start playing the commercial a second time and then it gets stuck. I’ll then reboot my Shield once or twice and keep trying the app and if I’m able to get through the commercial and begin the TV show, I can normally make it through the whole episode. But the commercials sometimes get stuck as I go through the episode. Based on other reviews, ya’ll have some work to do.

  9. Dean Mohr dice:

Won’t quite call it absolute garbage, but it’s close. Doesn’t do 4K or HDR. Routinely stops to buffer and never restarts. Takes multiple clicks to get to live TV, but you have to wait in between each because it is so slow. I don’t usually have issues actually getting it to work, it just takes a while. If I’m paying for your service, why can’t I pause or rewind live TV? Oh, and let’s not forget that this ONLY works on my Chromecast with Google TV. If I cast to one of my regular Chromecasts, it just stutters and skips constantly and is completely useless.

  10. This app is the worst of all the streaming apps on the ShieldTV. We regularly use Netflix, Prime, Disney+, Hulu, and even Peacock. Even Peacock runs smoother, loads faster. Extremely long load times for any content. Like minutes sometimes. Then, it may fail to load at all. Highly unwatchable. Updates never resolve the issues. Functionality is wonky. Like they’re trying to reinvent the standard viewing controls, making them worse than useless. For example, when you’re trying to jump past the opening credits and pick the last frame of those credits, it jumps a few seconds into the show, instead of at the end of the credits. Annoying. I could live with the wonky controls, lack of favorites, weird layout if the load times were improved. And I don’t think its our internet speed as the above mentioned streaming services all are either faster to load, more predictable to load, or will actually load. Zero stars.

  11. Loses lip sync in commercials. Every time. At times, audio is over a second ahead of the video. The app regularly fails to work at all. “We are experiencing some technical difficulties. Please check again later.” We are experiencing a very badly written app. Scrap the whole thing, hire a new team of developers, and start over. It’s FUBAR. To add insult to injury, when the app is having problems, and I have to restart the program, I have to watch the same damn commercials again. Update: No, I will not call in. Your streams lose lip sync. Multiple reviewers have noted this. I am not on your SQA team. Pay me some money, and I will consider helping you solve the problem. Is it the server, the app, a fundamental flaw in the time sync capabilities of the protocol you use? Who knows? Especially not your development team. This is compounded by the fact that leaving and resuming a show does not work. The only option is the restart, which means I have to watch the commercials over and over and over again if I want to get rid of the lack of lip sync. Surely you have some way of detecting and logging errors. Figure it out.

  12. Oof! I subscribed just to see Picard, and it was the absolute worst streaming app experience on my Nvidia Shield. I chose the “limited commercials” option, which is a joke. Not only are there lots of commercials, they hang, rebuffer, loading logo, require a restart, and so on. Worth mentioning that I am on gigabit fiber, and have zero problems with the other major streaming apps. The frustration of messing with this poorly designed app really took away from enjoying the program. Hopefully, it’ll show up eventually on some other platform, because I am out.

  13. 10/11/2021: More FAIL. They’ve added a completely useless “What do you want to watch” screen which sometimes shows up when you start the app, sometimes doesn’t. And when it does, it’s usually after I’ve already started navigating to what I want to watch, so it interrupts me. 03/04/2021: HUGE FAIL¶ In addition to all the other fails, the UI sucks. Bad. The 4-way (arrow) buttons will ONLY skip 10 seconds in either direction (tho you can hold down to skip many times). The FF/RW buttons will put you into “skim” mode, skimming forward/back at a much faster pace. That’s all klunky-but-workable.¶ Of more import is the COMPLETE lack of having any sort of bookmarks, watch list, or even remembering where you were if you stop the show for a moment! That’s right. Stop the movie half way thru by accident, and now you have to go find your place. I’m not talking about exiting the app here ANY stop loses your place. And “pause” apparently keeps the image on-screen forever – no screen saver functionality here. (I know, it’s a minor point, but it shows these guys are amateurs at UI development). There is no watch list. There is no remembering that you’ve watched the first nine episodes so you just hit Play to pick up at #10. No. YOU have to scroll through the episodes and find where you left off!¶ One minor positive – You CAN turn off “Automatically play next episode” – it’s in Settings/AutoPlay.¶ Oh, and before I forget, when the app launches, you cannot just hit LEFT to get into your menu. No, that will just scroll the banner. You have to hit DOWN first, then you can go left. LAME!¶ 03/04/2021: LIARS! Ad-Free is packed with ads! (This update after about an hour of watching and sitting through a half-dozen or so commercials).¶ 03/04/2021: WORST 1ST EXPERIENCE EVER!¶ I just signed up and VERY SPECIFICALLY chose the “No Commercials” option.¶ So I install the app, sign on, pick a show, and the VERY FIRST thing I get hit in the face with a commercial.¶ So I go to the website to see if I can get it fixed. Find help, see the chat button, click. Wait. Click. Wait. Nothing. Repeat many times. Nothing.¶ So I click the Email button. Fill out the form. Do the Captcha. Click send. Nothing. Click send again. Nothing. Repeat many times. Start over, retyping everything again, same result. Change browser and do it all again. Same result.¶ Now I’m pissed and I uninstall.¶ Suddenly I get a ding on my phone. Y’all just charged me $10.85. What happened to that “Free Week, cancel before Mar 10 to avoid payment” promise you made? I guess it’s about as solid as everything else I’ve seen so far.¶ BIGGEST MESS I EVER SAW.¶ Now I’m a reasonable guy. I’ll wait a bit and see if you fix this. If not, then I’ll tell my bank NOT to honor the payment and mark you as frauders. Can I give a negative stars review?

  14. I hate this app. I don’t like apps that force you to watch commercials even though your paying for it. These companies are double dipping. The app updated and now there are commercials to begin an episode when there wasn’t before. The problem is that now it freezes everytime I go from the end of an episode to the next Everytime!! Now I have to back out and with the sluggishness of the app, it’s an annoyance. Sometimes that doesn’t work. I’m looking at a blank screen right now with a 7 inside a circle and the word advertisement next to it in the upper left corner. Frozen. Sometimes I have to back out 4 times then restart the app to continue watching. Also. During the end credits nothing happens but with literally seconds left a button pops up asking to skip the credits. Lol. With the update sometimes the button pops up right away but now it freezes. I’m on a free trial. I’ll never pay for this. Zero stars.

  15. Signing in on an Android TV with your TV Provider is absolutely terrible. There’s TWO DIFFERENT activation websites, and they’re both linked on the app. One of them doesn’t even work. Every channel has one of these apps now. This is, by far, the worst one I’ve ever used. If possible, don’t use it, and watch in other ways.

  16. Duke H dice:

Horrible Android TV app. Every time the developers claim in the changelog that they’ve made improvements, they, instead, have made the app worse. Please get rid of the new, intrusive “What do you want to watch?” pop-up that eventually appears after opening the app. Please add back the row that included recently aired shows on CBS. It was very convenient in locating new shows/episodes, Also, when a new or returning show premieres, it would nice if it appeared somewhere above the fold–or, for that matter, anywhere on the homescreen–so that the user doesn’t have to search for it. Perhaps you could fix the bugs in the “Keep Watching” row, which is only sporadically accurate. Overall, this app provides a terrible user experience, both aesthetically and functionally. Of all the apps created by the “major” streamers, the Paramount+ app is by far the worst.

  17. Absolute waste of time. Even if you pay for premium you still gets ads for shows you could easily see when browsing their content. I was really excited about this app, there were a lot of shows I was interested in. Not only do they still give you ads when you are paying to not have them, those ads are causing a malfunction with the streaming system and will cause massive buffering problems, or I will just get a black screen and nothing will load. I’m shocked to see this has been around for a year and there were people with the same exact issues I’ve experience in month I used this service. I will never try again no matter what is streaming on this app. It’s too much of hassle to waste your time trying work around a poorly designed streaming service.

  18. Consistent problems, every time. Audio becomes desynced with the video. Pressing the next episode sometimes ends up replaying the first episode watched of that session. Sometimes, the entire app needs to be force closed, but that doesn’t fix the infinite buffering problem on the TV via Chromecast. If there was ever a way to encourage and promote piracy, this would be it.

  19. Horrible!!! I only installed and paid for CBS All Access for the champions league games. It always keep freezing after 10 seconds when I try to watch them using google chrome on my laptop and yes i have changed the setting to “allow” for flash. I have even installed firefox and opera browsers with the same outcome. The android app seems to be a little better than the webpage but not by much

  20. I have this app installed on my new Sony XR-55A80J OLED TV. Every time I go into Picture Settings to make an adjustment, the image disappears from the screen so I can’t see what kind of effect the adjustment has until I exit out of Picture Settings. All of the other apps I have always show the image on the screen when I go into Picture Settings so I can see what effect each setting has when I make a change. Overall, the app also seems to be slow and unresponsive. It’s really irritating to deal with this when I’m trying to set up the best picture possible to watch content on this app. I don’t remember it being this bad on my old Roku TV.

  21. I’m just trying to cancel the service and it’s impossible. The only option available to manage the subscription in Google play is the payment method. When I try to cancel through the app, it tells me to go through the platform I originally created the account. Confused. It should be just as easy to drop a service as it is to get tangled in one.

  22. Garbage app on my TV. Signed up to watch the exclusives on a TV and it appears that if the app is unable to load the advertisements, it will not stream. I have attempted to clear the cache, data, restart TV, uninstall and reinstall the app with the newest version available on Google Play store and it keeps on telling me to try again. It streams the older content perfectly but not the exclusive stuff. Seriously annoyed with it, canceling my subscription and uninstalling the app.

  23. I’ve been a subscriber for 5 years on the base plan with ads. The app on my Android TV has always been glitchy since DAY 1. But I’m a patient man, and CBS has shows that I want to watch, so I’ve stuck with it. A few weeks ago, I wanted to watch the new series Yellowstone:1883…but the app almost refused to load any of the episodes. Each time I opened the first episode, an ad screen would appear, but already frozen and stuck. Or the ad screen would change to a blue or black screen and stay there indefinitely (I waited for 30 minutes to see). Out of frustration I clicked the back button and then the episode button, back and forth DOZENS of times and ONCE miraculously the episode loaded the ad and then played the show. This was weeks ago and I’ve still only seen 2 episodes of 1883, because the same thing happens each time I try to watch. I’m able to open other TV shows and Movies, but NOT 1883. Though to be clear, all other shows/movies do glitchy things too, just not to this level of madness. I logged on to my account today to upgrade to the Premium Ad-free thinking that the issue must be with the Ads Subscription, but then I saw all the negative reviews for even those WITH AD FREE subs. No thanks. As I said, I’m a patient man, so I’ll keep the Ads subscription, but I am so disappointed with CBS/Paramount for having the ABSOLUTE WORST Streaming app that I have EVER used… BAR NONE. I use DISNEY+, NETFLIX, HULU, HBOMAX, AMAZON PRIME, GOOGLE PLAY, PEACOCK, VUDU and none of them are as glitchy as PARAMOUNT+ (CBS ALL ACCESS). My patience is running thin. You should start from scratch, take notes from other developers from the above list, and build something that actually works for your paying customers… before we all lose our patience and you lose our dollars.

  24. I don’t know if this is new or not or it’s something we’re just finding out about. I use a 2017 Shield to stream into my media room/office. Often, it shows CBS All Access is downloading something then gives me the option to stop it. It’s very weird. I haven’t watched it at all since about 7 AM, yet 14 hrs later, every time I exit to the menu it shows the app as downloading something. I’m on unlimited data, but some people aren’t. Why is the app downloading so often? Also…not a fan of the new UI. Like…at all.

  25. UPDATE 2: The latest app version fixes the nVIDIA Shield color problems! UPDATE 1: The colors are way off for Star Trek: Discovery and Picard in the nVIDIA Shield Pro version. Those shows are in black and white with some magenta hues. Oddly, the colors in the trailers, Short Treks episodes, and other shows appear fine. One other issue is some episodes of certain shows are missing. For example, Taxi Season 2 starts with Episode 4 since Episodes 1-3 are missing. ORIGINAL REVIEW: This app works well, for the most part, on my SHIELD TV Pro (recently updated to 8.1.1) and 1080p TV. It works better than the Roku and regular Android versions, maybe because I use a hard-wired Ethernet connection to the router whereas my other devices stream via Wi-Fi. The audio (analog stereo only), picture quality (1080p), and stability are all good. The only problems I’ve experienced are out-of-sync audio and video on a few episodes of older shows (specifically Frasier).

  26. This is absolutely the worst application/service combination in the history of streaming media. Not only did the app deactivate my account after the trial period expired, but Google play charge me for the service while my account was deactivated. CBS All Access Phone Help told me there was nothing they could do. They said they would connect me to Google, whom they assured me could help. When they transferred me though, it was just to the front-end main intake line for GooglePlay, which proceeded to direct me to the web site and then disconnected me. I only subscribed to this service for Discovery and Picard and was willing to pay the $9.99/month for that, but since they aren’t giving me the service and are just disconnecting me while charging me for a service they aren’t rendering, Picard or no Picard, I’ve cancelled this absolutely catastrophically horrible service. It. is. the. worst. I’ve cancelled everything and requested a return from Google Play. In addition, the app is also horrible. The captions are always out of sync (sometimes too soon, sometimes too late) with the speech, the navigation is very much out of date with current applications, the in-video navigation is also horrible and counter-intuitive. …and I thought Prime Video had a poor interface. CBS All Access takes “Poor Interface” to a whole new level.

  27. The issue I’m having is when I’m using the CBS App and then set the “sleep timer” on my Sony Bravia TV. Normally, setting the sleep timer is rather easy. Basically I tap the “Apps” button on my remote and another window opens where you can scroll to the timer app. What you are watching continues to play on the left side of the screen. What’s happening since last week with the CBS App is when I go to the timer app, the show I’m watching stops playing. After I set the timer and exit that menu, the show I’m watching comes back on, except there is a BLUE border all the way around my screen. Also, I cannot FF, RW or pause the show. I’d appreciate CBS fixing this bug. I’ve set the sleep timer on other apps and they work just fine, no issues. Thank You.

  28. Got this app to watch a game that was advertised on the front page of the app. Game wouldn’t stream as advertised. Extremely difficult to figure out how to cancel. Ended up paying for something I never used once. The charge on my credit card was ran through google play, so I didn’t catch it. I thought it was a movie rental charge.

  29. Had a horrible experience trying to subscribe to Paramount+ and watch the series 1923. Subscribed thru Amazon, but Paramount+ APP would not work on my TV. Tried everything to no avail. Finally watched by connecting my laptop to my TV, not the best way to watch. After a few episodes, decided to drop Paramount+ and buy the series thru Amazon Prime. Something I found while trying to fix this said to sign up using Google Play. Now I can’t unsubscribe from that. Never want to try that again.

  30. worst app. after watching two episodes of something the app freezes on a black screen with a blue loading circle in the middle. the app becomes completely unresponsive. I have to force start the app at least 6 times a day

  31. Don’t ever expect a live person to answer the support number. Also the 888 that comes in your paramount settings is not the support number. It is a number to sign up for a free Walmart gift card. It’s a scam don’t do it. There is no way to contact support from that number.

  32. Kenya C dice:

Horrible services so far! Can’t access my own info. I don’t own a Android! I signed up on an IPhone and it should not matter! May not be keeping this account. I have several and have never had this problem. Seems like a scam!

  33. Every time I want to watch a show or a movie, I have to restart my TV. This is extremely frustrating. I’m thinking of calling Paramount and asking for my money back for the paid subscription. Just look at all the terrible reviews, this is inexcusable.

  34. it just automatically starts and doesn’t play what I want to play and I can’t get what automatically started to stop playing so now I’m listening to two different things at the same time

  35. Really not a fan of paying $11.99/mo only to have ads running during movies. I get it with streaming CBS TV live, but movies and stuff? C’mon!

  36. I gave 1 star but it should have a zero. I’ve wasted hours this morning trying to cancel my subscription to Paramount Plus unsuccessfully. It seems once you start this account you can never get off it so buyer beware. Next I contact my credit card company that it hits every month to notify them of my inability to cancel this subscription.

  37. Jason dice:

frequently does not work. we’ve paid for no commercials but still get at least one stupid commercial for every show normally for Paramount Plus

  38. Cant figure out how to cancel, they make it very easy to sign up but very hard to cancel, this app is junk

  39. Dolby Vision content does not load properly through the Android app on my tv. Low quality.

  40. This is the worst app to navigate and definitely not user friendly. I wouldn’t recommend it to anybody.
