MyRadar Pro is the ad-free version of the leading free radar app, MyRadar.

It is a fast, easy-to-use, no-frills application that displays animated weather radar around your current location, allowing you to see quickly what weather is coming your way. Just start the app, and your location pops up with animated weather!

The map has the standard pinch/zoom capability which allows you to smoothly zoom and pan around the United States and see what the weather is like anywhere.

MyRadar shows animated weather, so you can tell if rain is headed toward or away from you, and how fast.

In addition to the free features of the app, a few additional in app purchases are available including real-time hurricane tracking – great for the start of hurricane season – as well as a professional radar pack, which enables more detailed views of individual radar stations.

MyRadar is also available for WearOS devices!

Good app, but falls short because it doesn’t display certain watches, such as tornado watches, that are often applied to a number of counties in my state. (Edit: must have been a bug, because I can see the watches now. Hopefully it is reliable, because I have been looking for an ad free weather app for some time)

Still no option to change weather radar timeline to future. I would rather see that, than what happened 15 minutes ago. Please shorten the update intervals on your end or add a live/futurecast option for the radar. In the beginning, this seemed a proper candidate to replace dark sky since Apple took it, but this still just does not meet my needs. I will note that you have improved well over the last year but still not quite there for me. Thanks!

This used to be my go-to weather app but two issues are making me look for a replacement. 1) The pull down with all the weather details keeps disappearing and doesn’t come back unless I delete and reinstall the app. 2) The snow forecast is totally inaccurate. I’ve gotten at least a dozen notifications this winter that snow is going to start falling but they were not correct.

Loved the free version so i bought this one. No help, support or contact info inside the app. It needs better support for watches & warnings. For example, when I click on a city, tell me what watches/ warnings it is under. let me subscribe to watch/ warning notifications for my favorites. show a history of watch/ watching notifications for my favorites.

  5. Not the solution I was looking for. In order to remove sticky notifications, I had to disable all notifications, which defeats the point of this paid app. The widgets could use work. Scrolling the maps to see storm fronts changes your location, despite allowing full access to said information. Paid version still has pay-walled features, some which require a monthly subscription.

  6. It seems pretty accurate overall, and the maps and information available is pretty great. My main issue is the lack of a manual sync. I have the ongoing temperature notification on so I can see the temperature with ease when outside of the app. The issue is that it is not always accurate. You have to go into the app to get it to sync with current info. Sometimes it checks automatically but this seems to be at random. Please add a way to refresh this manually or allow sync intervals to select.

For example, when I click on a city, tell me what watches/ warnings it is under. let me subscribe to watch/ warning notifications for my favorites. show a history of watch/ watching notifications for my favorites. UPDATE: it’s getting worse. Now the temp doesn’t update to current temp on the notification screen until I open the app.

  8. After trying out a lot of them, I came back to this one because it gave me everything I need with a hassle free interface. I do have a major problem with the load times of this app though. It takes about a good 20 to 30 seconds for all the information to load where it used to be a couple of seconds. I downloaded the free version for comparative purposes and everything loaded fine so this is a pro version issue that seems to be getting worse every time the app is updated.

Decent weather app. They should stop with the ridiculous price gouging, though. Even after you pay for the ad-free version, you still get subtle reminders that you haven’t spent enough. Not what you would expect from a paid app. “Pay X amount to unlock this feature.” Fix it and I’ll adjust my rating. Until then, this is a good example of a greedy developer.

  10. Much improved functionality and interface since I looked at this previously. I still hate the fact the default is set to animate. This chews up additional data. It also slows loading time. I do not dislike the app. It’s a wonderful app. It’s frustrating that you literally have to press pause play 4 or 5 times to stop it. Does this on all devices. Hopefully this gets fixed.

  11. I live near the Gulf of Mexico where the weather can change rapidly. EMS alerts alone aren’t enough for me. Letting me know when rain or weather is approaching my current location is my favorite feature. I also like how I can have the map center in my location, which is useful when I’ve zoomed down to street level. The maps are vivid, layers are definable (including transparency); and I get notifications the way I want them, without annoying push notifications I don’t need. Essential offshore!

  12. I’ve had a lot of weather apps that use so much memory that it takes them forever to load. MyRadar is pretty light, even running in the background. Assuming I have my phone’s Location turned on, the app will text me, informing that moderate to heavy rain is likely within fifteen minutes, and it could be overwith in 45 minutes. It’s creepily accurate. I paid for a couple of the extra features, and they’ve been worthwhile (though it’s been so long i cant remember which). Im a fan.

  13. Best weather app I’ve used yet. Easy to use, highly reliable, accurate and reasonably timely updates. Only problem i have with it is the lack of ground fog mapping, something very important where i live. I have used the ad free version with hurricane add on for a couple of years now and am satisfied and recommend it for people who need accurate forecasts and storm mapping, especially when on the road.

  14. Very advanced app with more than enough settings to toy with. The app really needs a general UI cleanup, it is a bit clunky, and I would love to have a full screen radar with nothing interrupting it. Some settings need to be editable, such as the brightness of the lightning flashes, the size and color of the lightning markers, and other things. My biggest problem is that the UI is messy and needs a large, ultramodern redesign. Other than that, amazing app with STUNNING potential.

  15. This is the best radar app I’ve found. It works great on my phone, but it is NOT designed well for my Chromebook. When you first open the app on a phone, the top 1/10 of the screen shows the location name. It stays there for 20 or 30 seconds and then goes away. The same thing happens on my Chromebook, but 1/3 of the display is covered. So for 20 or 30 seconds, I can’t really use the app on my Chromebook. There should be a way to TURN OFF this useless display. UPDATE: Works better on my Chromebk

  16. CS Dwyer dice:

This app is better than all others if you want advanced weather information like surface wind, jet streams, fronts and pressure sytems, earthquakes, wildfires, and the like. I’ve never seen the global view in any other app. The cost of the add free version is cheap compared to others. Hopefully, they will be able to keep the price reasonable.

  17. The app has good graphics and is very. Accurate. However, I paid for the pro version a very. Long time ago. I have had several phone with different numbers over the years. When you uninstall the app, it wants you to pay every time. I try restoring the purchase but nothing is ever found. Not even sure what email would be associated. I have not tried contacting them directly. Maybe I should. But other than that this app is great, with detailed info and warnings for lightning and storms. For free.

  18. I wanted to like it. I really really did. I used the free version first which was nice but the paid version was disappointing. It only shows 5 days at a time and the menu is hard to navigate. When trying to view the details of my location one slightly wrong swipe and it’s all gone away. It has a lot of menu options that don’t really do anything. I gave it a few months but I’ve moved on to another app now. Uninstalling.

  19. Joe Tran dice:

UI is nice with good features, but could benefit w/being more polished. What I expected to be able to do with this app is to search for a city, state or enter in a zipcode to quickly see the area weather. However, that’s not available from what I can tell. Also the top pull down menu where you see “Hourly” and “Week at a Glance” sticks if you accidentally touch that area and try to scroll vertically. It only forces you to scroll horizontally unless you lift your finger to scroll vertically.

  20. With the sale and subsequent removal of Android support for Dark Sky, I was on the hunt for a new weather app. I dug into Accuweather and many other apps. Some of them are great, others were wonky and resource hogs (Weather Channel). I came across this app. I installed it on my phone and immediately liked it. We were having patchy precipitation the day I installed it so the rain notifications were relevant at that time. Worked well. Then I discovered that they also have a Windows 10 native app available. BOOM! Ecosystem. That was one of the things I loved about Dark Sky. The app and the website had the same look and feel. Now I have phone and desktop weather that match with the same notifications. I love it. I have been in touch with both the Windows as well as the Android developer and they were VERY responsive. My primary request was to change the Android notification background from grey to whatever they system background, in my case, dark/black. For the Windows app, I requested a fix as well as perhaps getting the Android and Windows menus to match. As I said, I heard back from the developers with in a day or two. Very impressed with this and the Windows app. I am super happy I found this. Highly recommended.

  21. John Hoit dice:

I like this one. The rain line graphs are easy to read at a glance and it appears to be very accurate. All visuals are top notch and the radar is excellent. I like that I could pay for only what I need. I have zero use for aviation layers so I paid to remove ads only. Unlike some weather apps, this displays properly on my tablet.

  22. This is a great app. I loved the standard version to and purchased the hurricane tracking feature. After upgrading to the Pro version, I discovered that the hurricane tracking didn’t carry over and apparently I have to pay for it again. My email to the developer has also gone unanswered….. That’s why I only gave it a 4 star rating instead of 5.

  23. This has been my go to radar app for years, but in the last week the app has become very unstable. Crashes as the radar begins to load making it unusable. Tried clearing cache, uninstalled and reinstalled after cycling power. It seems to crash faster when I’ve got the wind layer turned on, but that’s not 100% and the wind layer is the primary reason I like this app over the others. Without it I may as well use my local TV station’s webpage. Hate giving it a low rating, but until this is fixed I can’t use this program I paid for at all.

  24. I bought the professional radar pack (Within a Year) as well the hurricane pack (2 years ago) on the free version. With ads being completely annoying and distracting I could do without them. I assumed the purchases transfer over to the ad-free version. Otherwise, what’s the point in having a restore purchases option on your app? Also, why do I have to pay for this again if I want to use it on my tablet under the same Google account? I’ve emailed twice already regarding this and no response.

  25. With upgrades, this app is awesome. NOT 5 star because it lacks adequate temperature scaling -AND- 5 day forecast is terribly wrong too often (and disagrees with all local TV channels which are usually correct). Not good for an app with a high rating and for which I pay extra $$ to obtain extra. Basically, I go to other places to obtain forecasts 3-5 days away. Relatedly: It would be nice to see a 10 day long range, after the short range gets fixed. Summary: App is awesome, needs improved.

  26. Best app ever for showing a fast, accurate picture of precipitation, frontal systems, temps, and winds. I keep it up and live on my phone when I’m traveling anywhere, and also make it the first thing I check before deciding any outdoor activities. It has saved me from being drenched by rain enough times that is now one of my favorite home screen apps.

  27. Jemi Kwa dice:

One of the best radar apps out there. As someone in a hurricane-prone region, I highly recommend also getting the hurricane addon in-app too since it adds a lot of great details about all hurricanes that form in the Atlantic and Pacific. Sometimes it has performance issues or the persistent tray notification gets out of sync, but it usually doesn’t act up for long.

  28. My favorite app. Except now there is a bug. When I open it the radar screen defaults to the same zoomed out position. Making me have to adjust it every time. Before this bug, if I zoomed in or out and closed and opened the app my zoom position would stay in the same place. Which is a nice feature. Please fix or bring back that feature. Thanks.

  30. Props for Family Library friendly. Great app. Also I love the layers with wind and hurricane tracking. I do wish I could see how hard of a rain is forecasted – all I see is how likely it’s to rain but that might be a sprinkling or a summer deluged. I use this on my Chromebooks and the other day I had access to layers on that device but after a computer reset and app reinstal the layers option menu now is blank. Multiple resets, reinstalls and data/cache clearing doesn’t help.

  31. Tanya B dice:

In general I like the app a lot, enough to buy the pro version. But, after a recent update, it constantly pops up a notification re: a wildfire hot spot near me. I dismiss the notification and it reappears, repeatedly. The notification is wrong for many reasons: I’m in a large city. I checked the map to verify there’s no wildfire or hot spot near me. I’d like to know about wildfires, but nuisance notifications don’t help anyone. They only lead to users turning them off or tuning them out.

  32. The App really stepped up and shined. It’s topping the list of the final few apps to replace Dark sky. The radar does exaggerate the rain coverage some, but it’s much improved. The local forecast is pretty good. The UI takes some getting used to. One thing that is totally unessesary on a weather app is the historical temperature bar starting from 1850. I would like to uncheck items like this as it’s a waste of data to load for me. It’s not just myradar anymore… A new name warranted?

  33. A great product! Lots of neat features and I purchased the professional pack, which is nice when you like details! Overall 5 stars even though there are a few minor things I wish I could see in the app: 1. Ability to change watch and warning box colors 2. Ability to change which watches and warnings appear 3. Lightning should leave a marker where it struck, that changes over time to indicate age (and ability to turn this off when not wanted). Despite the above (which is very minor) this is now my go to radar app for general weather, etc.

  34. Was great. All the later changes are breaking things. Impossible to lock my location anymore. Randomly shows conditions for other cities. Sometimes local weather conditions won’t show up at all. Status bar info is always out of date/inaccurate. Impossible to refresh without opening the app. Frustrating, as I used to love this app. Unless fixed, will be going back to AccuWeather.

  35. Good app, but falls short because it doesn’t display certain watches, such as tornado watches, that are often applied to a number of counties in my state. (Edit: must have been a bug, because I can see the watches now. Hopefully it is reliable, because I have been looking for an ad free weather app for some time)

  36. Absolutely excellent, high quality and quantity of weather data. I especially appreciate the aggregation of just about every atmospheric parameter possible (as applied, such as aviation-centric data). If you need real high resolution data, THIS is the best source. I have this on my GW OS watch, too, one touch and I instantly have composite radar. This platform is intuitive. Other high density platforms are sluggish and difficult to navigate/configure. Accurate, fast, as detailed as anyone needs!

  37. What a waste of money…! I paid for the app after reading several reviews. I wasted my money on that decision. I’m an over the road truck driver and this app (if you want to call it an app) will continually send alerts to my device even though I’m I’m several hundred miles from the area under the alert. There are also several advanced features BUT they are only available for additional fees.

  38. Mr Bonem dice:

Edit why in this last update would you not fix the lock feature? I don’t even use the app because it is all over the map! 0 stars! Like it but…. Recent updates have killed it with the app not locking location and always shows that there’s a notification but I never get sound or vibration alerts. I have went through the settings several times now and nothing changes. It has gotten worse over the past 6 months. Radar works well I will give it that.

  39. Lately, it’s been difficult to pull up any weather alerts within the app. If I click on a push notification of an alert, it only takes me to the radar. Clicking on the areas that have zones only moves the map. Although the app pushed a notification that we’re currently in a tornado watch, there isn’t any indication within the app itself. Detailed alerts should be easily found within the app, but they’re not. Uninstalling as the Pro version no longer provides detailed weather or warnings.

  40. Also have noticed that the radar widget , though up to date, is different than the radar in the actual app.Graphic interface indicates 69% chance of rain for rest of day. Text forecast indicates 10% chance of rain. Paid for pro version ….expected more I guess…. Time to find a reliable app. Additionally, notifications are not accurate and typically reports temperatures that are not accurate to the actual current temperature even though it states it’s up to date, data can be several hours old.

  41. Thanks!

  42. Forecasts and notifications are great. Easy to understand and be alerted just before weather turns bad. Lightning alerts are also great when you need to be extra aware when on outings. I also love the radar views and how easy it is to follow where the storm is moving to or when the rain will stop. Being able to plan your day to avoid the hottest point of the day is also easy in the forecast views. Nothing comes close to how well this app works and delivers weather data to me so well.

  43. Decent app with lots of possibilities but terrible support! The app is very inconvenient when it comes to managing multiple locations. I watched several videos on the app’s website but only iphone is featured. Android interface is different when it comes to locations. Tried emailing support twice on the subject with no reply. You’d think that a paid pro version of the app should come with support.

  44. Been using this for 4-5yrs now. Thought I should re-review it. Can’t compare it to what is available these days but I never need to switch because it’s always been great looking, easy to use and most importantly it’s accurate. Bought the pro version once 4 years ago and in the world of microtransaction and subscription everything is very much appreciated.
