As for November 17th 2022, now the buffer bar on the player locks at the amount set (5-30 minutes) and can’t swipe back like it used to be. Now I have to press many times the 30 sec skip to catch up with the live if I decide to go back (which I don’t need to much if I need to go to the middle part of the stream. We are still waiting for recording to come back.

Used TuneIn radio for years, over a decade. I use(d) it to listen to NPR; a couple of local NPR stations and a handful of NPR podcasts. Recently and without notice audio ads began to appear in the streams, not at the beginning or end but randomly to the point where it became unusable. It’s been a great app for years so I bought the paid version fully expecting TuneIn radio, without ads. No ads but the audio cuts out for up to 2 minutes every three to 10 minutes. Unusable. Out $10.

  3. The ap doesn’t work as well as it once did. During recent updates, the TuneIn ap will no longer remember your pause points on podcasts when you close out. When you return to pick up where you left off, you must start all over again. Also if you have account, the TuneIn website and the ap doesn’t really synch all that well too. In short, the ap is very bug ridden. PLEASE FIX THESE PROBLEMS!!!

Please allow us to record regular international stations. This app used to be great but I miss being able to record music stations from other countries. My mom enjoys hearing music from her country and being able to record those songs and play them anytime always made her happy. Please give us back this option! I understand podcasts and certain stations aren’t allowed, but why can’t you put a limit on what can and cannot be recorded? This would make so many people happy. I know I would be!

  5. I have been a satisfied Pro user for 8 or 9 years until this summer. First the exit button was moved from the main page to be buried in the profile section. Next the rewind/fast forward buttons were blanked out so that I could not repeat something that I wanted to hear again. Now, without warning, I find that I can not listen to any recordings that I made over the last 8 years. Now as for the popup that asked last night if I liked Tunein, the answer is definitely NO. I LOOKING FOR ANOTHER.

  6. I would like to open the app I PAID for and start listening to the last played station without any further interaction, that’s all. Simple. But I can’t because the app often shows a full screen ad about the Premium tier, and if that happens, audio will start playing ONLY after I manually close the ad. I get that it is bussiness, you want more money, I get it, but you could show it in a less intrusive way. I will just go back to another app I used before.

  7. I used TuneIn and Pro since my first Android. It seems to get worse and less useful with each upgrade. It has gotten to the point where I hardly bother with it. Set it back to 2011 please. It was once an essential app. This version is no better than a basic radio stream player. Lots of unnecessary clutter and stripped of previous functionality. Very disappointing.

Removing recording the last straw. Now a two star app. Paid for pro a while ago. Great app, great features. Gradually they wanted people to move to the subscription model, which is understandable, but it’s radio, it’s free. So I just want to listen to radio and it worked for that. Removing the record feature is total BS. You can DVR and you can record radio. This is another move to force subscription. Sorry but NO! keep killing your app to gain subscribers. Good luck!

  9. Several years ago TuneIn Radio Pro was exactly what I sought. The name fit, it offered an easy and quick way to listen to my radio stations and programs when over the air reception was not reliable or available. Now that capability is nearly lost in the app’s complication, and revised emphasis on podcasts. It no longer does what I want easily and it overloads my phone with unwanted podcasts if I try to save just one. Even if I try to stop it, it continues to fill my memory, slowing my phone.

  10. I’ve been using this app for years. I bought the pro version just so I could record stations to play offline. Well they’ve done away with that, among lists of other features, in favor of a premium subscription, which I’ll never do because it seems to be geared more towards sports fans. I have a Spotify premium account which is far superior to this. One could manually install (sideload) an older version of Tune In Pro before the recording feature was removed ;).

  11. This app was great, but now it sucks. Two reasons I stop using it. 1. It does not work properly on Android Auto. I cannot fast forward, rewind, skip podcast. Cannot view favorite either. Only thing it does pause and play, nothing else works. I sent multiple emails to support, told me they are aware of this issue and working on it, over 8 months 2. I cannot merge two accounts. They told me to cancel one account and open another. I asked them to delete my old account, which they said cannot do, but they can deactivate though. No, I want to delete my account.

  12. I use to love the fact that you could pause, rewind and record your station, you a cut above the rest. That was the reason why I purchased the Pro version. Now you are no different. All you can do is play, why the sudden change? 😥 Please bring back the features that I praised you having to all my friends so they’d changed and started listening as well. Now we’re devastated about the changes. Also the actual station stops play and repetitive commercials take over why? 🤔 Thanks for your email. H

  13. I’ve been using this app for years and it was my favorite internet radio app but now I have to say it stinks and I can’t recommend anyone use it at all. It was great until they deleted the recording function. I was upset they did that but I could get over it if the app worked right otherwise. Ever since they changed it, using the pause function for more than a few seconds pretty much insures the stream gets stopped. The stream will also stop about 75% of the time when the screen locks.

  14. When loading a stream it constantly sits at “0% buffered” and never loads, and then it’s locked up. I have to restart the app all the time to get it to work. WiFi or cell makes no difference. Strong data on both for me so it’s not a poor data connection. It was better before and the iPhone edition does not have this problem. I have both. Like others, I bought the “pro” version to *not* have to listen to ads. The iPhone one doesn’t hassle me about “premium” so why does this one? What is “pro” for then?

  15. For several years I have used this app, and used to be happy with it. At some point I purchased the Pro version in order to eliminate ads. Later TuneIn came out with the Premium version prescription plan, and now I have to put up with ads again. So, I have to give it a low rating, since they welched on their earlier promise to provide ad-free listening, while never offering to refund the Pro app purchase price.

  16. Mike Penn dice:

If you’re looking for a good radio app for Android Auto, AVOID this one! It crashes Android Auto after being on about 5 minutes and will continue to crash it over and over again until you are forced to disconnect your phone, close the app, and reconnect to use any Android Auto features again. They have an incredible catalog of stations, maybe the best in the Play store, and I like the interface and features, but it’s disappointing that I can no longer use it on Android Auto. After using this app for years and hoping for the last year that whatever bug is crashing Android Auto would get addressed, I finally have to just give it up and install a different app. I like listening to a sports radio station broadcast from another city, but it’s not worth the aggravation of crashing Android Auto. Frustrating because I really do like the app, otherwise.

  17. I originally tried the free version and liked the features of TuneIn radio, but I PAID for TuneIn Pro for the ability to RECORD what I was listening to. They now have blocked the ability to record which I paid for so that it is no different from the free version (except for adds). How about a REFUND, or at the very least, an app to convert the audio files of what I’ve already recorded to mp3 so that I can still listen to them. DO NOT UPDATE this app if it is still recording!!!

  18. overall I like Tunein, but I have some major issues. First, the slip is a major memory and battery hog. battery runs down very quickly and other apps tweaking slowly, whenever i have Tunein open. AlsoI have the pro app, and the commercials they insert are EXTREMELY repetitive and annoying. I think part of that is intentional to get you to upgrade to premium. when I did, I could no longer record the premium stations. it would be great if Tunein could address these issues.

  19. This app has gone downhill. I rarely use it anymore. Whenever I’m listening to a station it will only play for a short time (even while manually recording) and then turn off, for whatever reason. You can no longer schedule recordings, that I used to be able to record all the time. When selecting a recording time to save it to, it just shows the current time, never actually saving to your selected time. Apparently the developer is aware of this issue but hasn’t fix this, for months now.

  20. Now that the record function is removed this app is totally useless to me! I loved that I could record my favorite morning radio show to playback later after work. Also, certain stations no longer have the 30 second skip, and the pause fuction “stops” the program causing me to miss portions of what I was listening to. A great app now ruined!

  21. This app used to be great. There are so many ads, all the time now. Trying to push me to the paid version. Bad sales gimmick. This app will play ads much much louder between podcasts or radio shows. I like to listen to my podcasts at night. The difference in volume is even bothersome when you are in the car listening, the ad will come on as a BLAST. I have had tune in for over 10 years. In my next purge, this app will go.

  22. Works very well, in general. The only issue I’ve found is that when a program is paused for 30-40 min it doesn’t necessarily all play but will skip forward and then lose part of the paused time. Maybe it has something to do with using fast forward on commercials in the paused section. Or it could be I’m doing it wrong!

  23. I have used this app since purchasing my first “smart” phone and have generally enjoyed it. However, the most recent update eliminated the “exit” feature. With the prior version I only had to click two times and I knew the app was closed. This version requires more steps to attempt closing it – and I often fail closing it successfully. Also, like Mr. Muir, I find the sports promo in the Pro version to be irritating. Update: Calvin at TuneIn helped me find “exit,” under Settings. Thanks.

  24. SO DISAPPOINTED! I’m a long time user & now pay for premium service to limit ads. I have literally just listened to almost 10 minutes of ads with intermittent holding music! Restarting app repeated experience. I would rather listen to the radio ads than the hideous waiting music. You should also provide an explanation of what users need to do to prevent power saving turning off the app when screen times out or text shows up. Frustrating til you work it out. Used to love this. Prob cancel.

  25. Jeremy dice:

This app never shuts down properly. I can exit through settings (first, why do I need to go to settings to exit?), and it pops back up in the top drawer later. I can force close it… it does it again. And any time the device makes a Bluetooth connection, it starts again. I have the auto start toggled off. This has been an ongoing problem on multiple galaxy devices. The only way to stop it is to reboot the phone.. Please fix!

  26. Used to be good. But since premium they’ve been pulling features away from those of us who bought pro a long time ago. We originally had no ads, offline play, record and pause live radio, and a larger selection of stations. Now the only thing that makes it “Pro” is removal of banner ads. They took away the reason I bought it, to pause/play/record live radio, removed in favor of premium’s recurring payments. Like everything else in this world that wants a monthly fee out of me.

  27. i loved tunein radio on my iphone, but it’s missing some good features in Android. Where is the clock display? Why does tunein drain the battery when i record audio? Where is the volume slider? Why doesn’t it turn off when the timer runs out ? I like the choice of stations, though. podcasts are ok, but better in stitcher. can you fix any of these?

  28. Not as ‘strong’ as it was in the early years. Used to be able to record much more, less ads, stations did not suddenly vanish (that are still available with other apps). If you don’t want sports at a high cost, look elsewhere. Sorry, really liked it in the early years. Hope that helps.

  29. I gave tuneIn radio a rating of one star. I have loved it and use it for years but now when I use it it cuts off in less than 2 minutes. I purchased the 1 where you could record some of the programs and it has worked well for several years but now I cannot even listen to what I have recorded without it also cutting off in less than 2 minutes. Please fix the problem. Has been malfunctioning for nearly month. I now listen to iHeartRadio but woul like to return to this app that I purchased.

  30. Brody K. dice:

Good app, splash screen ad for premium dangerous. I try to use this app hands free. But when it’s launched, it keeps showing an ad for premium service. No biggie unless you’re driving and have to look away from the road to make sure you don’t accidentally subscribe. I’d even be ok with them reminding me once a month. But every time I launch the app while driving? Ridiculous and unsafe. Why did I pay for an ad free app if you’re going to show me ads EVERY time

  31. Good evening. I updated to the TuneInPro Premium with the understanding there was a 30-day free trial. I was charged the full price / rate through my mobile carrier. I immediately cancelled the subscription only to see that (1) I would not receive a refund and the subscription would cancel one year from today. I have notified my Mobile Carrier of this as well. They will not refund the purchase price knowing I was to receive a 30-day trial. I am asking you to refund the purchase price of $99.99 to my Mobile Carrier. Thank you.

  32. It was the best app for one reason for me. Recording live radio. Now they took that away. This app and free app are basically same without recording feature. Save your money. Other gimmicks are not worth spending money on pro version. Fortunately, I bought this 9 years ago for less than a dollar. But really, without recording feature, it is not worth a penny.

  33. I used TuneIn radio and enjoyed it enough to download TuneIn Pro. I don’t remember how much I paid for it but with the latest update it has become a subscription. They want me to pay for it again. Monthly. After the update it had to be uninstalled and reinstalled which would be fine if it would install after being downloaded. I am only able to use the regular Tunein app now.

  34. Something is wrong with the new version of TuneIn Pro. I’ve used TuneIn for a few years and until now it has worked well. It worked flawlessly with my 2015 Accord bluetooth. When I used my phone the podcast would stop, then resume after the call. Now, when I try to connect, the phone constantly flashes the message bluetooth has stopped. The car constantly flashes the message no device available. So I uninstalled TuneIn Pro and started using the Google Podcasts app, which works fine.

  35. When it works-it’s fantastic. Sadly it’s got some issues. I’ve had this for years on 4 different Android phones and 2 different service providers and find it frequently stops playing during streaming-saying “buffering” and needs to be manually restarted regardless of cell/wifi strength. App will just start playing loudly while paused after I get a phone notification. Love the service, hate the app for these

  36. Eric Baum dice:

It used to be something we used constantly. Now it’s only useful on select devices. I literally have two Android devices side by side, one running fine and the other saying “a stream connection error occurred” on the very same station. Whatever update they did in the past month rendered it useless on certain devices. Update 04 March 2021 The representative told me on Feb 10 that the company knows it is not ad free, and there is no ETA on actually delivering what they sell. Caveat emptor.

  37. I don’t mind the ads. The issue is the volume of the ads. Until last week, the volume was fine. Now the volume is too loud. Don’t make your users keep adjusting the volume of impact the users hearing. May have to find a different app if this isn’t fixed. I did recommend the app to others looking for MSNBC, CNN, etc. Hope I don’t end up regretting it.

  38. I paid for the Pro version, a few years ago, so I could record talk shows, as well as forward, and rewind (30 seconds). I no longer have those options, they’re grayed out. I was not informed that the purchase was temporary, and I have found no explanation as to why the options no longer function. But I am offered the premium service constantly. After I have refused more than 3 time, take the hint… I don’t want it. Maybe it’s time to find another app…

  39. Bought this for timed recordings but it never works. Tried to get support via email but they simply regurgitate instruction. Well it just doesn’t work so following instructions is pointless. Interface not intuitive either. Great content however don’t count on time shifting. When I find something else I’ll delete the program.

  40. Can you guys fix your widgets? At one time at its smallest size 1×3, it had the 1 current station you were listening to back a track next track play stop and pause.. now it only shows media controls if you make it 2×3 and 1×3 just shows recent stations with no controls… please fix! It makes it easier for me when I’m driving to use the widget controls as opposed to finding and opening the app!
