Descripción

The app combines highly accurate weather forecast for your location with a 3D map showing development of weather in a broader area in a very interesting way. This allows you to see where precipitation is going to come from or where the wind is blowing from. The uniqueness of the app comes from the amount of data displayed. Forecast of weather, precipitation, wind, cloud cover, atmospheric pressure, snow cover and other meteorological data for different altitudes is available for the whole world. Moreover, the app is completely free of ads.

WIND ANIMATION
The Ventusky application solves weather displaying in an interesting way. Wind is displayed using streamlines which clearly portray the continuous development of weather. Airflow on Earth is always in motion and the streamlines depict this motion in an amazing way. This makes the interconnection of all atmospheric phenomena obvious.

WEATHER FORECAST
Weather forecast for the first three days is available in the app in one-hour steps. For other days, it’s available in three-hour steps. Users can also look up sunrise and sunrise times in a given place.

WEATHER MODELS
Thanks to the Ventusky application, visitors get data directly from the numerical models that, just a few years ago, were used solely by meteorologists. The app collects data from the most accurate numerical models. Besides the well-known data from the American GFS and HRRR models, it also displays data from the Canadian GEM model and the German ICON model, which is unique thanks to its high resolution for the whole world. Two models, EURAD and USRAD, are based on current radar and satellite readings. These models are able to show precisely current precipitation in US and Europe.

WEATHER FRONTS
You can also display weather fronts. We have created a neural network that predicts the positions of cold, warm, occluded, and stationary fronts based on data from weather models. This algorithm is unique, and we are the first on the world who makes global fronts forecast available to users.

Love it, love it, love it!! Particularly useful when in destinations where the weather can vary a lot through the course of a day. I’ve used for about 2 months now, including traveling to Alaska and Orlando during Hurricane Ian. This app was SO spot on in both situations. Don’t even think about it, just reward the developers immediately with a (VERY inexpensive) yearly subscription right out of the box!!! Very well done!!!!

I have had Ventusky on my computer since I heard about it years ago. Living in South Carolina and prone to hurricanes, it provides details that you can’t get on local weather. With another hurricane coming, I downloaded the app on my phone just to find out that certain features like wind speed and wind gusts are now considered ‘premium features’ and require a fee. It also warns of in app purchases. I will be uninstalling. Disappointed.

  3. I have been using this for a couple of years now. I love being able to zoom in and see the wind direction and speed as it relates to the hyper local, with direction and speed being affected by the terrain and topography. Edit: after latest update, widget won’t work?I deleted cache and memory, Uninstalled and reinstalled to no avail. The app works beautifully, just not the widget. It’s not a deal breaker, but on my tablet, the widget will no longer update

  4. I have been looking for a weather app that makes it easy to plan out a travel route based on weather, and this seems to be perfect. Most other weather apps focus on your current location, but you can easily see weather forecast for anywhere with this app, not to mention it’s so beautiful to look at. Premium is so cheap, I’ll probably be upgrading soon if app works well.

  5. UPDATE 8/7/19: Switching “Model” to “Automatic” in the settings has fixed the issue. The app is great! This app is nice, but it was awesome. It seems the latest update has removed forecast from the free version? If so, it’s become kind of useless and I can no longer suggest it to people because weather apps should display the future weather.

  6. Great app. I used Windy for a while as well as WU but this has so much more information than those in current form. I upgraded to the premium layers almost immediately. If I had to have 1 beef, it’s that the app seems to crash on my S-10+ when I zoom in too far (about 5 mile radius maybe?). Otherwise, it’s worked flawlessly. Not sure if it uses personal weather station data or not (even better if so) but it seems to accurately predict the arrival & length or rain showers.

  7. I love everything about the app, except instead of paying a one time fee of say, $5 or $10 USD, I have to enroll in a subscription. EDIT: after buying the subscription, the UI has drastically changed and I can no longer access the forecast how I should be able to. Edit 2: after a reinstall it now works.

  8. For some reason, one part of the app shows time in the standard 12 hour format, and in another it shows time in the 24 hour format.. and there’s quite a few settings for choosing between metric(which are ignorantly all set to metric in America…) and “American”(imperial), but no option for time. Also, no progress bar showing time on the radar makes it basically useless. Uninstalled

  9. XaaS continues to pillage and plunder its way through everything good. I would have happily paid a one-time fee for the premium app. However, instead I’ll just continue to use online sources that uBlock Origin cleans up— for free. It’s unfortunate but I will not support XaaS modeling without at least an alternative option to buy, and OWN, a perpetual license outright. Bring back the one-time purchase option to OWN the premium app with no subscription, and I’ll change my tune.

  10. I’ve been using this app multiple times a day to monitor so cal storms the past couple months so much I think I broke it. no longer displays rain unless I’m zoomed 3 states out. will buy paid version but please fix first. I tried to reinstalled app with no luck. Edit. Developer fixed the problem within hours and now works. Purchased subscription. Thank you edit. app closes when I zoomed in much

  11. This is a very good visual representation of existing weather with the HRRR model (which I think, uses RTMA (real time) data). The mapping is good and you can zoom in or out to get a big picture of what is happenning around you, or what is happening in your immediate area. Very good for things like sailing. You can even go back to check past RTMA weather data, which is unique. They have all the other many forecast models, too, but the HRRR modeling and real time is best.

  12. I cannot stand that no state boundaries are indicated in the map images. Unless I am missing it, I don’t see whether to show boundaries or not, as an option anywhere in the app settings. If I’m mistaken, please do let me know. Otherwise, I strongly suggest coding it in as an option, instead of deciding for everyone that we just don’t get to see them.

  13. EDIT 11/10/22 Worked well during hurricane. Now crashing immediately after opening. Help! There are glitches when using satellite . Some of the globe doesn’t load. Other than that I rely on it for weather patterns due to hurricanes Also great for checking wave direction before heading out to surf. Wish it showed heights

Sometimes shows rain when it’s actually just overcast. Still a bit more accurate than several other Weather Apps I’ve tried. I’m updating my review, it’s been about 4 months since downloading. It’s been reasonably accurate up until a few weeks ago. Today was exceptionally bad. It forecast 2-4 cm of rain from about 11 am for about 4 hours. Its now 2.15 and not a drop of rain, just a mixture of dark clouds and occasional bursts of sunlight. Better than the other way round I guess.

  15. It’s a very sophisticated weather app with so many detailed info for your current or any interested location. The only thing which I am missing is tidal forecast.

  16. Fi2 Pro dice:

I like it so far. I couldn’t find a report issue section, so I’d like to report that the AROME model stops at the Portuguese border. This seems strange since Portugal’s official IPMA uses this model for forecasts, so this model not displaying is likely a bug. Could you fix this please?

  17. Amazing probably the best I have tried, I love the days in advance the layout and world map view so many more features still to discover, thanks for sharing and hard work

  18. Our son raved abt this app so I downloaded it. I was pleased when I opened it as it has so much info, though I had trouble navigating it. However, this morning I am unable to open it. It flashes open and quickly goes blank. I’ve checked our internet connection and it’s connected. Cannot open app.

  19. The app itself is cool but i saw an issue that needed to be addressed idmediately. The fact that you have to pay for different layers in the app and not on the website in which, all feutures are accesible isnt fair. So why download the app when you could get the full deal on the website WITHOUT paying otherwise id give it a solid 5

  20. The absolutely best weather app I’ve come across. – Add’s are not annoying. – The information (wind, rain, cloud altitude) is perfectly presented. – the animation of the weather is a delight to watch. I couldn’t ask for more!

  21. R H (Rik) dice:

There’s a problem with this app every time I try to zoom in on a particular place,it dashboards me every time please fix.

  22. App is not letting me view the premium layers in paying for. I am a beta tester on one gmail account, but the subscription charges to another and it is not allowing me my premium layers.

  23. This is my go-to for all around weather. It’s on my homepage and will be from now on. Great app! Do yourself a favor get it installed and say thanks Ed!

  24. Just a brilliant app and website for visualising and understanding what is happening with the weather and quickly too. Its like the google maps of weather for me. Helps me plan where to go windsurfing, surfing etc.

  25. rseruy dice:

Recently having more or more problems with an app. For example, Meteogram does not load precipitations and wind gusts ofently

  26. William dice:

Simply amazing for weather maps compared to the over 20 other apps I tried. Weatherbug was the next best app that I tried for weather maps. But it is alot worse compared to this.

  27. I love that the app lets you visually see from different aspects where and how a storm is progressing.

  28. I have used it for a couple of years, great app for long range predictions, lets you choose between data from different meteorological models, no annoying ads, even in the free version. Premium is reasonably priced. But lately GPS coordinates have been consistently wrong, one time I’m in Austin, Texas the other I’m in Shanghai. Also the widget glitches a lot, showing no data. Would have given a 4 or 5-stars, but it’s 3-stars for now.

  29. Looks nice. The colour charts don’t have a key, which almost renders them useless. They’re on the web site. Edit: in view of the response from the developer, I think I’ve given too much weight to the lack of colour scale on an otherwise excellent app. I know about the option to display numbers directly on the map. I’d still prefer the option of a colour scale though.

  30. While the concept and the website is outstanding and I would give them 14 Stars if I could, the Android app is beset with serious limitations if they don’t seem interested in fixing. Specifically, that when you are trying to explore weather systems on the road ahead it keeps popping back to where you are located at the moment. And there’s no bloody way to turn that feature off. And does the new upgrade actually fix this problem, or just add another advertisers set of pop-ups to my phone?

  31. I really love the visualisation of the app. It’s beautifully designed and very fast. But unfortunately I had to cancel my subscription because the data is totally inaccurate. Of course weather models are never perfect but there are services doing much better. Will follow the desktop version. If it improves i might subscribe again.

  32. It is been a nice app for a while, but after some update it now has terrible performance. It opens for ages, makes the whole phone unresponsive, in-app interactions are super slow too, and after a couple of taps and swipes it just crashes. Nokia 3.1, 2g memory. Memory monitoring shows that there’s at least 15% free memory left when the app is running, so it’s not out of memory problem.

  33. Horrible on mobile, on computer the animations are nice and you can go through everything. As the interface is super nice an props for that. But the overall experience on mobile and app is horrible. Why pay for the “extra” feature like snow cover etc. When it’s free on the computer? Also it’s very inaccurate with the weather which blows the whole thing to the ground. I have no idea where you get your weather information from but it’s always at least 3 degrees Celsius from reality and 5-15mm rain

  34. I find this accurate for my region (South Africa), however very difficult to use it to predict snowfall as I need to set it to freezing levels, then arrow up to see the precipitation per hour and match it to the freezing levels. This means also that the temperature displayed isn’t also in sync (like the temperature at 2000m above ground level is). It seems like the elevation of the maps you use doesn’t correspond. Your snow cover is wildly inaccurate for our area. Only very heavy falls show.

  35. The map should show local time of the location you’re looking at, not your own city’s local time.

  36. Senad dice:

No time interval update option, no premium user help option. I do not recommend.

  37. I already pay as premium, use 3 weeks then this app automatically change to basic, they said subscription is on hold, but my money has been deducted from the account

  38. Premium version Widget did not refresh itself also weather hour by hour sometimes loosing updates and do not meet correct weather

  39. It’s been raining for 4hrs and this app shows no rain or cloud cover over my area 🤷🏾‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️

  40. I like the app very much, buT for some reason it’s started to come up then shuts down Not working?
