  1. I paid for the magic avatars, which also automatically enrolls you in a “free” subscription. I forgot to cancel the subscription and was charged more money. No big deal. I figure I will use the app for the year subscription and then cancel EXCEPT the subscription does not actually buy you anything additional. I can’t do anything in the app without paying even more money. Total scam.

  2. Chris J dice:

App claims “3 photos per day” on the “free plan”, but when you actually try it wants to charge for a subscription (no free image generation). I tried several times. It lets you pick your source images but then halts and requires a paid subscription. The 3 free images is either a lie, or the word lawyering or UI is too confusing to figure out how to use the app for free within the limit.

  3. If the app doesn’t like pictures that you’ve chosen to upload, it will still charge you and remove those pictures without a chance to replace them. Sometimes the generated pictures don’t finish generating. So you can get cutoff images that look like incomplete screens. For example, one of my images shows 20% of the top with the other 80% being blank. Sometimes the image will change your race for a significantly large amount of your pictures.

  4. This is a really cool app. I love how some of these photos turned out. It’s really fun to see what it comes up with. This is my complaint: The AI either seems to need more diverse original photos to create less similar renditions, or the AI’s “intelligence” doesn’t go very far. It looks like it finds a “comfort zone” and keeps using that format. After about 100 “photos” they’re all pretty much the same. For the originals, I made sure to get different angles, face distances, and facial hair.

  5. It’s honestly hit or miss and boy did they miss on mine. I tried twice with a total of about 35 pictures and the first time three of the 200 photos looked like me. The second batch of 100 photos yielded slightly better results with about five photos that looked like me. However, none of those eight photos I would consider avatar like. It was more so like using a filter on a photo you already had. I’m definitely disappointed.

  6. This app is terrible, it does not tell you that you aren’t going to get to pick the style you want, it does not let you redo any of the photos after it’s processed them, it tells you nothing and spits out whatever regardless of what you want there is zero customization or even preference. Want all anime style photos? Too bad! Didn’t like the style the program picked that one photo? Too bad! Better pay up with no guarantee it will be next time. This is definitely not worth it.

  7. Too much money for an unstable app. This is just about the Magic AI. Doing it twice now has resulted in images with no heads, completely warped images, and only about 10% that actually bear a resemblance to me. I understand the tech is new and learning. But a headless avatar? And multiple at that. I only imported head shots as instructed. When I told them about the issue they told me to try again and assured me I wouldn’t be charged. That was false. And the second round was worse!

  8. Used this app to attempt to generate an avatar for myself. Provided it with the maximum amount of photos it would allow for multiple angles with multiple expressions. The end result was terrible. More than 3/4 of the images generated were just the original photo, no avatar. Total waste of money. When I emailed them and told them that I was not satisfied with the results, they’re response was basically too bad so sad we warn people they may not like the results. Buyer beware.

  9. Seriously? This app is garbage. You can use a free trial, which is fine, but the avatars cost about $8 for 200. I bought 3 sets because each time they were just horrible! I figured i had to be doing something wrong. Each time i did it, i uploaded 20 unique photos for it to use, and all three times, i feel like it only used the first picture as a reference. Many of them had awful smudges on them. It’s not worth any amount of money!

  10. tommy0820 dice:

I decided to try this to see if it was as blatantly ripping off artists as people said. Several of the “original” images still had remnants of artists signatures on them, many of them looked nothing like me and were clearly pre existing images that matched with a single feature in the pictures I input. I feel like $8 was kind of a rip off for it to basically do a Google image search. Will not be using it again or recommending it to anyone

  11. Fun app would give better review, but I’ve been charged multiple times and then the upload fails, i have 14 charges on my card but only have 6 image packs. Kind of feels like I’m getting ripped off honestly, and there is no way to contact the company through the app as the email button doesn’t work (at least when i tried it). I’m hoping that someone from the company contacts me to sort this out.

  12. Nothing free at all, 100% of any results requires minimum purchase of $7.99. This should be stated up front. That’s 20 minutes I’ll never get back, tediously choosing photos over and over until I had at least 10 selfies that the app deemed acceptable,… And only then after all this effort does it pop up the minimum $7.99 charge. You can’t even get a preview without paying.

  13. I downloaded the app and purchased the $11.99 magic avatar package and once I purchased it the app went crazy. I backed out of the app and reentered to try again and it wanted me to purchase it again even though I had been charged for it already. Then it popped up a screen for a $4.99 monthly plan so I’m like ok I’ll purchase that as well and I will have unlimited use of it. No….. That didn’t work either. The app is useless and I’m out almost $20 🤬. Definitely trying for a refund.

  14. I paid for an avatar pack, uploaded the photos to be used, and the avatars never generated. Attempts to re-upload pictures just result in another payment screen. The app doesn’t have a clear communication line for this type of issue, and the one provided email address seems nonresponsive. It’s been about two weeks, and two emails have been sent with zero response.

  15. Lindsey dice:

Edit 4: lol the only response I got was a damage control comment on this review. They have not emailed me. Edit 3: 16 days and still nothing. They also did not respond to my emails and I was auto-denied a refund when I went through Google Play. Will reconsider changing my rating when I get either my pictures or my money back. I bought a set of pictures and got a notification that they were done, went to go look at the pictures and it briefly shows that my pack is “almost done” and then crashes.

  16. The first 2 packs I bought were great. I really enjoyed the pictures and would have liked a little more variety in the categories between the 2 packs but i was happy with what I got. The 3rd pack however looks like they used someone else’s pictures. They don’t even resemble me. I paid for them and feel as though I didn’t get what I paid for. Would love for the issue to be resolved, otherwise it would have been 5 stars.

  17. It’s super cool. The pictures come out amazing. But paying $30 for an “unlimited plan” yet having to pay more to get the pictures. The unlimited plan only gives you 50% off. They have some kind of reason for their extra charge, but I think it’s BS for how much you already paid for a subscription and a computer is generating it. Ridiculous.

  18. Disappointed. Bought the $7.99 package twice, the first results had about 5 images that sort of looked like me so I thought I’d add more pictures the second time to give more of a variety in hopes I’d get better results. However, the second time turned out worse than the first. The images it generated looked nothing like me, as if I uploaded pictures of someone else. A complete fail, there wasn’t one of them I wanted to save. This app should be FREE, stop wasting people’s money.

  19. The editing is pretty good. The AI does a banger job. But for the magic avatars, most if not all of the pictures it generated looked nothing like me. I followed the rules and made sure they were portraits with different facial expressions shot at different times, locations. I got the biggest package, and I’m honestly very disappointed. It doesn’t even look like it tried. If I could get a refund, I would. EDIT: I tried the magic avatars again and it was way better the second time.

  20. This app is okay for photos and editing. But there are many others out there that are great so it doesn’t stand out for me for that. I got this to explore the Magic Avatar feature trending right now and it’s a huge let down! It’s expensive actually in terms of what you pay, for what you receive. The produced portfolio is I hate to say, terrible. Even following instructions, the results are no where close to accurate; with many that are outright deformed. Deformed eyes, teeth, face, limbs, etc.

  21. This is a big hit-and-miss for the price of the Ai generated photos you get. The first set, most of them looked exactly like me. Sadly my 2nd set all 200 photos looked NOTHING like me at all. Not sure what software update would need to be applied to make things more accurate, especially if you’re going to charge each time, but it’s very much needed. Due to this, I could never pay for the yearly subscription. This little test I did just showed me it wasn’t worth it in my opinion.

  22. I paid for one set of photos, everything worked fine. The second set came through, but the app is stuck saying that it is still working on them. Third set came through just fine. Tried to do a fourth set, paid for them, and the app glitched out. However, I received a prompt response and a fix for it from the admins of the app. I think they have been overwhelmed with the popularity of their product. The pictures are fun and high quality!

  23. The first perches was fantastic earlier in the day with the cheapest one on 12/4/2022. But later on that day I tried the make the $11.99 perches, the app glitched and went back to the buying feature. I looked to see if the pictures where processing and nothing. I then too a screen shot of my transaction in my email and sent it to theirs. Asking if I could get a refund or a fix. This was around midnight so I’m hoping for a response but I doubt it. I’ll change my rating if they fix this problem.

  24. Update: Finally refunded after 19 days. Now three stars Tried to buy AI portraits, I was charged, but no portraits. Tried again to see if user error made the photos not show, got nothing then either. Contacted customer service by email, was told to go as if buying the pack again, but I would receive an error message. Guess what? No error message, so I was charged AGAIN. Told the rep in the email that I wanted a refund for the ones that didn’t show portraits, haven’t heard back in over six days.

  25. I’ve been using lensa for over a year, I believe, and it’s pretty good for when I need to edit my photography in a snap. The one issue I have is the pop up trying to get me to subscribe when I’m trying to upload a new image into it. I’d like to continue with the free version and upload the image, but the pop up menu shows up even when I haven’t used my daily picture limit. So I can’t even get past the menu or edit any images.

  26. Tried out this app because my friends had some really nice photos done with it. I paid the 7.99 to have 50 done I believe it was. Definetly not worth it. A lot of the photos came out super distorted and the eye placement was just awful. Some of the pictures don’t even look like me. It looks like a completely different person. I would NOT recommend this app to anyone. You’re better off editing your pictures yourself.

  27. You are required to sign up for a subscription plan that limits you to 3 photo “upgrades” per day but you have to pay extra ($7.99+) for the Magic Avatars, which is what I wanted to use the app for. I imported my photos and paid as prompted for the Avatar feature, after which it said it was applying or processing the effects, only to take me me right back to the pay screen with an error. Of course, I was charged for it but I have nothing to show for my purchase (2x), and keep getting errors.

  28. I fell into the trap and finally downloaded this app. I selected the 11.99 plan, excited to finally see my pictures. Selected about 13 pictures to upload, which took 40 minutes for some reason..I got the notification that my photos were ready, only to see 3 of them on, with it saying the free plan only allows 3 photos a day. Free? So what about that 11.99? In addition to that, it was only offering the most basic 2007 level filters. Pretty upset and frustrated right now. Waste of money.

  29. cool idea, being prompted to buy the year subscription, learning, that doesn’t include the magic avatars, it’s an additional cost. 3/4 of the photos are wonkey, having crossed eyes, weirdly shapen fingers and shoulders. It’s definitely disappointing. I pay for 400 pics & 300 of them aren’t recognizable. I Definitely won’t be using this app anymore. I canceled subscription Minutes after I ordered it, knowing it was a mistake still stuck with it for the year. DISAPPOINTED!

  30. The avatar/characters are cool, but the AI or whatever doesn’t really use YOUR face. If it does, it’s very little of it, causing it not to look like you anyway and most of the time makes your face crooked and strange. It’s not worth $5.99 every time it tries. I think it should allow the AI to try again if you end up not liking any, especially if you didn’t download any of the images it didn’t let you pick in the first place.

  31. 1. The free trial is b/s you have to pay $3.99 for 10 -20 images every time. 2. After this “trial” it’s $29.99 per year which is aside from paying the $3.99 per batch of edits at a time. 3. It’s completely hit or miss on what edits you receive, I say I like about 2-3 images out of the lot. 4. When you cancel, they don’t cancel you right away, they cancel you at the expiration date of “trial”, so there is a probability that they will still charge the $29.99 fee so beware.

  32. 1 W dice:

Mediocre – save your money. There’s many better apps that can do what this one does for cheaper or even free. Its claim to fame is AI renditions of your selfies, but this is inaccessible to try out without paying. App is slow and not very well designed, but it does have a lot of options. Overall, I’m not impressed. I recommend, save your money and try something else.

  33. Tia Bloom dice:

Downloaded this app mainly to try the avatar feature only to find out that I have to pay for it first…what a blip! You should at least let a person try this feature with 2-3 pictures 1st. You could even put a watermark over it to show what they’d be getting 1st, instead wanting money right off. Not a good sales tactic and definitely a turn off for me. Also, the app seems to have issues when you try to push certain buttons, because nothing happens. Uninstalling, not worth it.

  34. I bought the $7.99 ($8.99 with tax I guess) for the avatar photos. I’m still getting stuck at the paywall that won’t let me get past. Google says I already purchased it, but the app won’t let me go any further. I’ve tried backing out and reloading my photos and even uninstalling. Didn’t work, and apparently it counted towards my 3 free photos a day when in actuality, I haven’t done anything yet! App sucks so does customer service. Give me my money back!!

  35. I gave it $2 for a weekly try. App stopped working with it’s main function. I figured, it was only $2 so I paid $11 for the magic avatars that are trending super hard – never worked. Took my money and ran. Literally said ‘this service is unavailable’ and kept crashing. A ton of people are probably using it, causing the crashing. But for a very first experience with Lensa and for it to NOT work, at all, not even once – not good. I will refund.

  36. Made a purchase within the app, and the screen no longer would refresh or move forward. After going back and restarting, it would not allow access to my purchase and gave a message stating “I already own this”. After waiting for several minutes, I tried again and it appeared to be working with an estimated time of 30 minutes. It’s been nearly 24hrs and still showing “just finishing up”. Refund and customer service options only seem to be available through direct email.

  37. I don’t usually write reviews and when I do they’re usually not negative but this is hands down one of the worst experiences I’ve had with an app. I’ve tried to the Magic Avatars at least 10 times, the app has constantly frozen, sometime it open, sometimes it doesnt. I paid for the 50 photos to try it out and it charged me but now it doesn’t get past the purchase page. It keeps glitching. And Google does not allow to refund it. Hope I get my money back.

  38. I mean it’s a cool app and the price isn’t too bad. I spent $17.11 on the app and got nothing lol. After selecting all my pictures I wanted to use then selecting the package, the app then took my money and said “something went wrong”. I started the refund process but having to go back and forth to have something fixed like this is so tedious. I’m thinking want just charging it back and being done with it. Hopefully you guys have it together later.

  39. Sam White dice:

I am extremely impressed with this app and the magic avatars. I ended up purchasing the subscription because of how great the editing tools are. I have been so happy with the magic avatars pack that I have bought multiple sets and purchased sets for friends as well (everyone has loved their AI art). I had some technical issues at first but you can email support for help and get problems resolved.

  40. Jan dice:

Not a great experience. So when it comes to selecting the package it jumps to the more expensive package so you may miss the cheaper one unless you scroll up so I bought that more expensive package and the pics didn’t load, so I tried another package and reported the issue. They replied that I should instead select the same package and I would not be charged twice. Also, if I chose the wrong package accidentally the 2nd time, they would refund me. None of those things happened. I was charged 3X.
