The game can be choppy from time to time but that’s to be expected from an old pc game. I find some issues with the animation such a the vehicles especially the bigger ones such as planes, tanks, and the apache helicopter. The controls are a bit bugged usually varies depending on what your doing. Despite these minor setback it’s been years since I’ve played the original and I have to say they really did an amazing job porting the game it’s almost exactly like the older version in every aspect.
It played ok on my LG z982 but now I’ve upgraded to the galaxy s10 and it plays almost exactly like the playstation version I remember. They had to cut out a bit of the story, but it is still great! Every now and then it will “force close” and go back to my home screen so I have to load it all over again. I have not figured out why. There are no other apps running at the time, and there is no way it could be a memory/RAM issue. I will go back to my 5-star rating whwn/if this stops happening!
Overall a good port of Vice City. If you don’t like the mobile controls(which I didn’t), you can hook up a controller and it will work. I used a ps4 controller with bluetooth and it worked great. A word of warning though. DONT TRY TO GO FOR 100%. The fire truck minigame is broken: hitting people with the water stream won’t knock them down, making it impossible to finish, and thus impossible to 100% the game. It seems others are also having issues in other parts of the game. The bugs bring it down
A truely incredible game unbelievably available on a phone now. From what I have experienced ,every aspect of the original product is present. The graphics are very good for being played on a phone with no noticeable lag or glitching. If someone would have told us 18 years ago as we hooked up our Playstation 2’s that we would be playing the game on a cellphone now, our heads would have exoloded. Fantastic work!
Very smooth texturing and cut scenes!!! Much better that ps2 and xbox. Nevertheless, the controls on any handheld touchscreen device are particularly tedious, so it takes getting used to. That being said, drone, bike, and piloting missions can be difficult. SAVE YOUR GAME!!! every mission I mean that. Last you want is to play a hard mission and the game crashes or your phone dies and you have to play it again not remembering how you beat it. When in doubt, save save save.
The overall game is good. Just minor problems with the controls and theres a graphical downgrade for the textures in my game for some reason. Like text and wall textures are pixelated even with max graphics settings. I know it’s not supposed to be like that because I’ve seen the comparison on youtube and their textures are fine. Please fix this, its annoying. I was hoping unistalling and reinstalling would solve the problem but it made worse by deleting all my progress.
This game needs a update for graphics but a few bugs show up from time to time especially when I’m playing the radio alot! I jump in and out of the car and whatever radio station I leave it on it won’t be on when I get back in the car. Only way it comes back on is if I pause the whole game and resume, that’s the only way the radio works. The guns glitch when shooting. It freezes from time to time but I still love the game just wish the bugs were more fixed out!
This is a pretty bad port of a, well, a fine game i guess, but this port needs work, constant crashes, glitches, bugs and the like, making the game impossible to play, some missions are broken! The stunt boat challenge, is literally impossible, for some reason, the boat is stuck going way to slow causing any attempt to fail when you eventually run out of time. This definitley needs to be fixed
Three negative things: 1. Vehicle steering is sluggish compared to 3 and San Andreas 2. Combat is not great, but doable. 3. The building in front of the Malibu club seems to be glitched as the front of it is clipped a little into the streets. Other than that I thought it was good. I had no crashes or performance issues like others have had so idk what theyre talking about. Cheats would have been nice but without them I feel like I can respect the game a little more and actually try to 100% it.
The draw distance for vehicles is crazy low even on max. And they look like blocks until closer up regardless of resolution or detail setting. Playing on an s8 which is by no means new but more than capable of playing this game on higher settings without breaking a sweat. App needs some updating for sure. San Andreas has a similar problem but not as bad. 3 seems to run the best.
Unusable controls – view spins constantly. Really wanted to play this game on my tablet since I played the original way back in the day. Unfortunately, the game is utterly unplayable as the controls are completely broken. I have a Fire Tablet 10 with bluetooth keyboard for movement, but for some reason as soon as I start using it, the view spins out of control. By “spins” I mean that it literally spins at full speed 360 degrees CONSTANTLY, making it unusable. Returned for refund.
This game would be amazing, everything I ever dreamed of, if it didnt just randomly decide to shut down all the time. Mid-mission and everything the game will just shut itself off. It’s extremely frustrating. I just collected 5 out of the 6 cars I needed for a mission and the game, yet again, shut itself off and I had to load back to square one. It’s a damn shame.
Just like i remember. A few changes like i couldnt get the fire truck before the islands open up. But everything else so far seems amazing all the challenges are there, infinite sprint, extra health, extra armor for doing the vigilante, ambulance and pizza missions. I played with xbox controller but it plays with ps2 controls. Love it. I believe you can change it though.
Vehicles pulling to the right/left? Turn off the accelerometer in the games settings. Boats too slow? Go into your device settings and change display to 60hz or Motion Smoothness to Standard (be sure to Apply). Want to change the radio station? Get a bluetooth controller and hit the up arrow! Want to enter cheats? Get a tablet with an external keyboard like the Tab S7. Dropping a star bc some of these things were hard to figure out.
An absolute nostalgia trip, this is one of the better ports I’ve seen of games. Only real complaint is the handling of weapons and aiming feeling a bit off, but that’s kind of to be expected with only touch controls. Other than that, cars feel like they did in the original, and I’ve not had any issues with graphics so far.
I have 2 problems: 1st It’s extremely hard to aim with this commands (moving too slow). Plus when I shot, it happens that my aiming is moved away, so sometimes it’s hard to shot multiple shots at one target. 2nd There are bugs and it happens sometimes that my gas padal won’t work. It make it hard when I am running away, racing against time or flying. Other things that I am missing from original game is such as riding bike on rear or stopping on front wheel. Overall, I love the game.
I want to be able to give this game more stars but the controls make it very difficult to enjoy at times. The aiming can be a pain and almost unplayable at certain parts, ive realized certain controllers work better but still not great. A lot of lag and delay in input. Game works pretty good most of time, some stuttering here and there. Playing with ps4 controller on samsung tablet, I can say the same for GTA3 and San Andreas as well. Controls need fixing.
I like how the control customization allows me to use external triggers. It’s full of bugs though. The render distance for traffic causes weird things to happen. Multi touch suck. If I’m holding the gas button I can’t rotate the camera. Sometimes the touch stops working and my car will just turn straight into a wall until I let go all fingers for a second. If you end a vigilante mission in a rhino you instantly die, and lose your rhino too. The unpredictable quick save is handy though.
(review coming from using a PS4 controller) A pretty good port with janky, somewhat frustrating controls that are balanced out by quality of life changes like keeping weapons and ammo after death or arrest or being to change the camera angle while driving. A checkpoint and autosave system, and being able to start a level over after death makes it a good, not so frustrating experience on the phone. Also, circle+down opens up map and circle+up changes camera angle. This goes for all other ports.
Can’t drive properly, making missions horrible. The handbrake is irrelevant to sharp turns.Even during the motorcycle mission the npcs couldn’t steer and crashed. If the steering was fixed, it would be a much better experience. Not to mention you drive faster than the cars in game loads. The nostalgia is there until you see the flaws in the controls. As for other posts, I have a s20 FE so I highly doubt my specs to be the issue especially for a mobile game and highly doubt it to be a user issue.
I have never played this game on any other platform and on the Android platform it’s all touch screen and I find it very difficult to control the avatar and move around the environment and driving is even harder to control the vehicle. This game really needs to have a second controller because touch screen is terrible. The graphics are great and the sound is great but trying to control the avatar is the most difficult thing about the game and I get very frustrated trying to play it.
I love gta one of my favorite series of games. Problem with it is not just the controls, but certain timed missions are impossible like the 1st mission for the Cubans which is the boat race. You get 3 minutes on what’s SUPPOSED TO BE a fast boat but by the time you get to the last 2 checkpoints time is already run out. I tried that mission at least 5 times in as many different approaches as possible and it’s STILL the same exact thing same time out so you still fail the damn mission.
Way too many bugs. Whenever I’m inside any vehicle, it’ll just veer to one side and I have to balance it out by tapping the opposite direction to get it to go straight. I love this game so much but I’m starting not to anymore. Also, it’s difficult to change directions while inside of building when you’re in a shootout. Please fix the bugs, I really do love this game.
Great port. The graphics are not too great, but they aren’t terrible, and you get used to them. The controls are tricky at first, but eventually they become easy. Don’t listen to people saying it’s unplayable and etc. It’s a fun nostalgia ride, and it’s a good game if you’ve never played it in the first place like me. Awesome 80s soundtrack as well! Great spending of 5$.
It’s as close to a perfect port as humanly possible. It runs like a charm on my LG Tribute Dynasty, a low-end budget model. The controls took a little getting used to for me, but the learning curve is not steep. No corners were cut in remaking thks chapter of GTA for the brave new world of mobile gaming. just spend the $5 already.
Overall I am enjoying the game. I am having a problem though after i make a jump on a motorcycle the camera stays in the cinematic slow mode shot and doesnt readjust the game just stops tracking. Its upsetting because I cant complete the mission or continue playing the game, without closing out going back in and starting over.
Excellent use of licensed music, they’ve captured the vibe they were after. Controls are seriously wonky, and few if any of the game’s bugs have been addressed. Even so this’d be a 4-star, except the mission with the RC plane ranks among the worst gaming experiences I’ve ever had in 35+ years of gaming. I’d rather have spiders in my butthole than ever play that mission again. I’d rather replay E.T. on the 2600. Srsly.
Super Dope! Classic throwback Damn near as good as the PlayStation 2 original! Controls are not bad at all. 5of5 stars from me. Just couldn’t get past the mission called “The Driver” when u drive the “sentinal” in a race against the “sabre turbo” every time I was in 1st at the end the cops come out of nowhere and crash into me hella hard and spin me out giving the computer the lead. EVERY TIME. Still, 5 STARS.
Great game, for the ports of GTA games to mobile. I’d say hands down it’s the best, no graphical glitches, or problems that I can see when my many hours of gameplay. Very faithful to the original as well. The only downsides I see, is because of it’s age, but if you can look past that, it’s definitely worth the price.
I’ve always really enjoyed GTA and was so excited when I saw it on App store. My problem is the lag om the game, its so slow, I really struggle completing some of the missions, especially the 3min boat race one. Unfortunately, I am stuck now because I’m not able to complete the challenge. Besides this, really cool game and nice graphics.
This game is absolutely brilliant for players who are after a bit of nostalgia. A few players have struggled with a few technical issues which can affect gameplay such as slowing down speedboats and the dodo waterplane. To fix these issues, change your devices ‘motion smoothness’ from adaptive to standard. This will change your device from 120hz to 60 hz. This will fix the above issues as this game wasn’t designed to be ran at a higher level.
Done with it. I clocked 38 hrs on this game and must thank Rockstar for releasing these three classics on Android. So much nostalgia! The radio stations! Nothing changed. Works well. Yes, the shooting auto-aim is a bit bad but it’s not gameplay-affecting. It’s not that Vice City is combat-intensive. You get used to it. I had a draw-distance issue which I also had to live it. Very well adapted for phone otherwise. Loved it and now onto: San Andreas!
Downloaded mainly due to the nostalgic experience, the game overall has expected graphics, slightly hard controls to get used to but overall is great. The reason for 3 Stars is due to not being able to complete missions such as Stunt Boat Challenge and Dildo Dodo due to the high water resistance against the vehicles used … One of them doesn’t even allow the plane to take off as it’s too deep within the water. Can this be looked at and fixed.
Great game, awesome memories. Unfortunately, when I’m looking at the map and press one of the buttons on the controller,my character ends up falling out of the sky, into the sea!??.. even in a vehicle. Really odd , tried different controller, still the same… That said a must game to have..
3 stars. Because while it’s fun to play and looks decent overall, there are some serious issues that would greatly enhance the experience if they didn’t exist. From visual bugs to bad car handling, to random but luckily rare crashes. And the worst of all? The analog stick bug from GTA 3 mobile that screwed me over so many times, because it snaps to the right very often when I press accelerate or decelerate while turning.
Vice city is one of, if not- my all time favourite games. Love having it on my phone. I feel like they’ve made some concessions to help the fact its harder to play on a phone screen, as apposed to a full controller. But there are some bugs. The boats seem much slower than they used to and little glitches here and there. The Skimmer sea plane- wont take off. But all in all the game, the story the feel.. are all still there.
After failed download in the first attempt I was able to install it in the second. When I started playing the game believe me the game is full of glitches and bugs. I can’t play the game properly. The controls are self operating always steering right. This really annoyed and the second is all images go dark you can only see the road. No buildings or houses so better to play in a pc nothing special.
I paid money… for this? It looks great and plays okay but it keeps crashing in the middle of missions losing the progress. Pointless and a waste of money. Plus the graphics can’t keep up with the speed of the car so cars on the road ahead suddenly appear out of nowhere. I’m on an S22 Ultra, I’d expect it to run smoothly without crashes. Waste of money.
The control settings changed, and couldn’t get them to go back to normal, after doing the mall scene.. I reset the game to have to do it all over again, and still the settings are all messed up… After buying this game. You at least would like it perform accordingly… Absolutely waste of money and time…
This game started off great. But now whenever I play it doesn’t get past the opening menu or when I play there’s a serious lag on the screen so the camera just freezes and for some reason I cannot walk into the mission markers not shoot any weapons. I have cleared everything and deleted and reinstalled the game at least 5 times. Any help would be massively appreciated. Thank you
