  1. Frustrating – loses data, gets stuck. Its been years and years, and yet they still can’t get the most core, basic feature to work very well. I use EN so I can take notes quickly and access them when and where I need to. Accurate sync is the main, critical feature. In fairness, they’re about as good as Google, and much better than Microsoft at this.

  2. I’ve used Evernote for 20 years. While the design has improved over the years, the bugs have increased dramatically. Now I can’t even save a new note. I can create a new note and add as much as I like, but none of it ever gets saved. The most basic functionality of the app, and it no longer works. UPDATE: customer support reached out to inform me they’d identified the cause of this issue and provided me with a quick and effective solution. Despite lingering glitches, nothing else beats Evernote

  3. Renidea dice:

I have been using this app for 10+ years. It has been invaluable to my work and home life. Recent changes have made it useless. When typing my keyboard constantly disappears, entire sections of notes disappear even after saving appears confirmed. Typing is annoying with the keyboard issue, but it’s futile to try if I keep losing over half of what I type. The words annoyed, frustrated, furious, and disappointed just scratch the surface. I’m cancelling my premium & shopping for an alternative.

  4. It’s ok. When I make a checklist and save it, Evernote always deletes what I wrote and saves a blank version. This is really inconvenient and unhelpful. It is also kind of inefficient to delete a not once you do not need it anymore. To delete a note, you need to open the note and delete it instead of other softwares where you could just long-click the note and select the option of deleting it. Also it would be really helpful if, when making a checklist you can clear the tasks out each day.

  5. I’ve used this app/program/company/whatever for so long. I have notes dated all the way back to 2013. Over the years the monetization has only gotten worse. For a while I was “grandfathered in” and didn’t have to pay, but that’s gotten me less and less as well. Today, while searching my notes, I got a pop up that said “2 more results found. Evernote Personal finds words inside documents and PDFs. Upgrade.” This is the final nail in the coffin. Don’t bother with this app it’s not worth it.

  6. Been using this app for years on Android. I wanted to start using it more but the bugs have been so horrible of late. Almost unusable. Copy paste issues, can no longer go back to home screen, sync errors, and other general weirdness. Feature bloat is likely the problem. Gave two stars to acknowledge the good years but Android app is currently a disaster.

  7. Very happy with free version, but it wont sync across my laptop and mobile (galaxy fold 3) no matter how many times i hit sync. There are whole notebooks that I’ve created on my laptop that’s missing from mobile. Also when I’m editing a longer piece, the app starts saving copies and I’m left with 40+ versions of the same document. This wasn’t always the case, so what gives? At this point I spend more time clearing out junk than being productive.

  8. This app used to be the best note app out. It’s awful now! I’m having to copy notes and email them to myself so I don’t lose my work. I don’t trust this app at all anymore. The keyboard disappears in the middle of typing, only part of my notes get saved, and it won’t save when i hit the button. I tried to be patient and wait for the devs to fix but I’m tired. I NEVER leave reviews on apps but please don’t waste 8 bucks a month like I’ve been doing for the past few months. I’m done.

  9. Some apps overadvertise premium content. This app loves to tease it. As much as I liked this app, I keep forgetting what I dislike about it, coming back, using it for 6-8 minutes, then uninstalling it again. This is a farcry from when I would use it at least an hour a day. Honestly, just show up front what pieces are premium and what aren’t, and stop filling the whole page with it. Eapecially since it isn’t worth the annual cost.

  10. Mindbogglingly, there’s nothing better out there. Evernote is far from great, it’s just barely tolerable. I want to be able to open to the homepage. What is the point of a homepage if we never see it? I have several notes pinned to my phone’s homescreen. As EN is now (remembering the last viewed screen), I have to hit “back” several times before I can get back to the homescreen.

  11. Dylan Rowe dice:

Why is it such a pain to select and copy text? I have to tap and hold a bunch of times in different areas of the note to get it to work. Please fix this, copying text is a huge, annoying hassle. Also, the app is cluttered with a lot of useless functions that get in the way of doing what you actually downloaded it for, making notes.

  12. J Biggs dice:

I used to love this app, ir was so useful, then I downloaded it on my new phone a few months back and I’ve only had issues since. The android format is now very different, notes aren’t in alphabetical order anymore and every time I go to type something in a list it duplicates, or won’t save it- yet keeps things I already deleted. I even uninstalled and reinstalled and it did not fix it.

  13. L. C. dice:

Was working fabulously until recently that I started having issues typing in the app. I have tried to fix it already but to no avail. It keeps adding extra letters onto things that I type, it will skip to the next line on its own, and it’ll even add words at random. I don’t know how I’m supposed to use this app when I can’t even properly type. It’s like I’m fighting Evernote on what I want to write down.

  14. Wade Smith dice:

I’ve been a paid user of Evernote for almost 10 years, but that is about to come to an end. After the latest few Android releases, I have actually LOST NOTES! Pretty basic stuff for a note app. And before I get a response to send an email, I’ve submitted this feedback already. Test your application before releasing it. With all the feedback here, it should be easy to reproduce and fix.

  15. I loved Evernote initially and thought I’d go ahead and upgrade to the personal version. I’m totally willing to pay that amount per month for something as useful as this! Once I started really using it though, I started having lots of technical issues. I’m not paying for something that doesn’t even work! Now I can’t even use the free version because I get messages that I’ve exceeded the storage. One star for the bait and switch, Evernote.

  16. The app does not sync across devices consistently, if at all. I continue to experience the same glitches others have reported. I took all appropriate steps and measures to cancel my paid service and revert back to the free one, given all of the problems I’ve experienced with Evernote, but I still was charged. Update: The developers reached out to me and advised me to update my apps (even though they were updated) and to go to their “Discussions” page to chat with other users to get help.

  17. Great app. Giving 3 stars because VERY FREQUENTLY I need to restart the app a couple of times before it will actually start saving changes I make to notes. It seems to be a synch issue (????) – I don’t understand why the app won’t simply retain any changes I make and resolve any synch issues separately. I HATE having to rewrite things I’ve already thought through and moved on from.

  18. Dan dice:

Extremely Unreliable! I have been using Evernote for more than 10 years. Unfortunately both the Android app and the desktop version running on my Macintosh have become unstable this year. I am upset that at least 3 times recently the system has “lost” notes that I have carefully typed in — this is unacceptable! I am currently looking for another note taking app that is reliable. I hate Evernote!

  19. I’ve used this app (Android – the free version) for at least a couple of years and loved it, but the last couple of months at least there have been SO many glitches. It’s incredibly frustrating. As I’m typing, the keyboard will randomly disappear so I’ll have to click edit again. Also, several times it’s frozen up and then hasn’t saved my progress. I hope the issues are fixed soon so I don’t have to find another note app.

  20. Ash G dice:

NOT FOR ANDROID PHONES. I have been using this app for probably about 8 years. I’ve loved it and all of the updates have just improved the app. But the last month or two I haven’t even been able to use the app at all. My texts aren’t showing up, certain notes aren’t saving. I thought it was just my phone but I even switched to the web view and to my tablet. Had the same issues on all platforms. I really hope these issues are resolved soon otherwise I will be uninstalling.

  21. I’m really frustrated that I’m paying for premium and I have multiple duplicate notebooks only on the app not in my computer. And just recently half of my thumbnail images have a triangle with an ! saying image not rendered. I really don’t know what I’m paying for. It looks fine on the computer and website versions. This is so inconvenient when I’m paying for the extra features. I guess it might be time to find a different program to track my craft supply inventory as well as other things. Ugh!

  22. Fran Mason dice:

Has gone totally haywire in the past few days, won’t save notes, or reverts them back to a few minutes earlier, making me crazy, almost can’t use it at all. Edit: Evernote asks me to reach out by email so they can investigate. I’ve done so. The tech only asked for more and more elaborate ways to show him what I was doing and offered me a free trial upgrade. I don’t want to upgrade. I want an update that fixes the problem.

  23. Trying it out. Says it allows 2 devices at no charge. Installed on my phone, then laptop. It went from have 1 device to 3. Pop-up blocks you from everything, even tech support, trying to upsale a product that isn’t working correctly in the first place. I’ve wasted a lot of time here trying save time. There are alternatives that have easier setups.

  24. Been using this app for years and it’s been such a wonderful tool. However, since the last update, I will often write in a note, and the app acts glitchy while I’m writing, and when I try to save and go back, it doesn’t allow me to. When I close and reopen the app, my note is only saved up to a point, and most of the text is gone. Luckily I recognize when it’s happening so I can c+p but developers be aware this is an issue (seems to affect others as well). Will change to 5 stars when fixed

  25. After I got the “updated” version, I endured for a year but now it’s enough. The app is incredibly slow to start up, it often saves copies of notes or ignores the changes I make. I loved the ability to include audio, hence two stars instead of one. But the notes had a size limit which resulted to some audio files disappearing. I switched to using “My Notes”.

  26. RexRaf dice:

It’s great and can do a lot, I appreciate the constant updates though I was satisfied with earlier versions. It’s probably favorite notes app. But the fact that they constantly ask me to subscribe with pop-ups is somewhat annoying. I like the app but there are a lot of alternatives and while I would pay $20 once I don’t really want another subscription to manage.

  27. DON’T PUT ANYTHING IMPORTANT IN THIS APP. I’ve lowered my rating of this app twice, on losing data in it. Good intentions but constant problems. Particularly with new releases, it is often quirky. This app has enough potential that I am not ready to completely give up on it yet. If they can ever get it to work consistently, could be good. But the quirks in it can cause you to lose important information. Don’t trust Evernote.

  28. Paul Henry dice:

I wanted to take handwritten notes. Experience is terrible. Its super buggy. Skipping strokes, getting stuck in zoom/pan or vice versa getting stuck unable to zoom/pan. Not nearly as fluid as OneNote which makes you forget you’re using an app and the UI melts away. Beyond buggy, I also think that yeah, they don’t do stuff the way I’d like in regards to sketches. It’s too cumbersome and requires too much UI fumbling and removes you from the experience. You are always aware you’re in an app.

  29. Jane Doe dice:

After they broke images earlier in the year, now they’ve come for the plain text! Any time I try to edit a “too long” text note, the app now covers a solid chunk of the screen with a notification that says “Can’t detect more grammar errors. Text is too long.” This pops up after EVERY SINGLE ACTION! As in after every character typed, every tap, every selection… WHY??? I’ve been paying you guys for over 10 years, and you can’t even support PLAIN TEXT NOTES anymore? SMFH…

  30. The newest update is a step backwards. It is slower and more awkward to scroll through your notes. Many of my notes were inaccessible when I was outside of cell service. And now apparently Tasks require an upgrade? I can’t set a reminder for free? JFC. I am now faced with copying all of my stuff to a different, better app. Thanks for a few good years, Evernote. **Aug 2022 Update I’m now decreasing my rating to 1 star. This app has become a burning trash heap. I’m out.

  31. Mike Lee dice:

Sometime I type something and then it just disappears! Large notes are not usable anymore! Now the app crashes when I try to use them! How am I supposed to do anything with all of that data??? Also, deleting a word with the swipe to delete feature randomly deletes some words or a few letters to the RIGHT as well! The back gesture also doesn’t work.

  32. Premium customer for many years. Very dissatisfied customer. This app has fallen so far below the level of performance it used to provide. Notes don’t sync between devices. Changes saved to notes simply disappear within seconds when you reopen it. Seriously in the market for its replacement. Anyone got any recommendations?

  33. Recently I’ve decided to start reusing this app again, however in doing so I remembered why I stopped to using it a few years back. It’s very glitchy still. While I’m typing it starts blinking & the screen moving. It doesn’t save everything. When I ‘select all’ to copy and paste it into an email or into a different document, it will not copy/paste on my phone/android at all. When I use the copy/paste on my desktop it removes all the formatting. This app was better 10 years ago. So sad.

  34. alan chan dice:

Good for backups between Android, Apple, and PC. The basic version let’s you sync 2 devices. To get more, you have to pay. Annoying pop-up ads are getting worse. They recently redid the home screen and it’s harder to use. To search for older notes, it reverts to the old format. I’m going to look for other options.

  35. Love the features and UI design of this app. Very comfortable to take notes in and they offer plenty of deals on premium throughout the year. Personally do not need more than 2 device at the moment but I can see the utility. If I had to improve anything it would be compatability and sharing functions, not horrible but I feel that the exclusivity of the app forces you to jump through hoops to use these. Large file transfers can be time consuming.

  36. EVERNOTE, YOUR APP HAS BECOME EXTREMELY BUGGY. It is quite frustrating, to the point of wanting to change notes apps, and I’ve been using Evernote for several years now. Things take forever to load, at random points while I am writing on mobile the keyboard will go away and I will be taken to the top of the note. It also will fail to save changes without any warning, so while I am writing something, none of it gets saved and is lost. And I don’t know this is happening until I try to save it. Fix

  37. Dear Evernote, I am using your app since 2009. I have a paid subscription Personal plan. The app was working very good all these years on my Android phones. But, since last few weeks, nothing in the app is working anymore: the app is very slow to load, then keeps crashing, the new notes are not saving and old notes are very slow to open or they do not open at all. Please let me know what is going on? And how to save all my work notes since 10 years ago if I decide to cancel subscription?

  38. Hugh dice:

Yuck. Slow to open spinning as it’s updating some database. Cluttered home screen. What happened to the days when I could just open it and take notes without wading through feature bloat I can’t turn off? I wish there was a lite version of this monstrosity. Edit: To further keep me away from my notes, it likes to pop up statistics on my usage when I start the app. Can’t find a way to turn that off. Looking for a better option.

  39. The best place to keep digital notes organized and accessible across various different devices. Could do with some investment and design improvements for when dealing with/integrating images, layout and editing and the web browser extension. Tags and editing is sometimes glitchy and I’ve lost a couple of notes I thought I’d saved when app seems to freeze but not tempted to change.

  40. Clover Lee dice:

It’s been great in the past but recently it’s been very glitchy. Opening and closing the keyboard while I’m typing, glitches and deletes the wrong text when I use my gliding back space function, loses half my notes while I’m in the middle of writing. I’m really disappointed that I spent money on this app that I keep trying to use and keep being disappointed by. Also pretty bummed that I can’t edit a note at the same time as someone else.
