  1. This app is essential for anyone visiting Disneyland parks, but there are still critical features missing. You are going to have to provide some sort of in-app navigation. Simply pointing to a location on the map is insufficient, ESPECIALLY when you have route closures due to character events. You have the capability to track every app in the park. You, therefore, have the capability to display real time foot traffic in the park and help me choose the best route to my destination.

  2. RJ R dice:

Buggy (fails to open multiple times in a row, multiple times a day), disorganized {not intuitive and too many button pushes to get to the most used screens) and disregards my answers to its questions without allowing me to program my own activities (inserts recommendations for young children when I marked interest in rides for teens; doesn’t allow manual adjustments to the recommended schedule). Map is occasionally useful. Disney does a lot of things well…this app isn’t one of them.

  3. The online food ordering only works when the server isn’t overloaded, but when it does work I quite like it. The rest of the app has quite a few problems. The recommendations are repetitive and the queue estimates are way off, and drive everybody in the park the same direction causing bottlenecks everywhere. You are not missing out if you don’t use this.

  4. Not very easy to use. The “instruction” videos are not helpful. Can’t use genie + until in the park and it is very frustrating trying to figure it out while in the park. Also genie+ and LL lightning lane? What is the difference? They seem like the same thing. This experience has not been very positive. Do not recommend. Getting photos with the pass seemed like it would be so fun and it has been challenging figuring it out. Even employees weren’t very helpful with figuring it out.

  5. They have fixed quite a lot of their bugs in the app. In my experience the app runs very smooth. Allows mobile orders ect. Genie plus works but honestly sometimes waiting in the actual line goes faster. Accessibility on the app is fairly easy to use. He keeps my tickets and hotel reservations very clearly reminded and even gives me directions to such. As a reminder you do need a ticket and a reservation for the day you want to go to Disneyland/adventure.

  6. Disneyland CA was fun, but the app needs major improvements. You can display your tickets, and see wait times in the map, but most of the time it wouldn’t bring up additional info about the ride. You can search for items like “ice cream”, but it won’t direct you to a selected location. Since parades block streets, an intelligent navigation process would be a huge help. Also, the conflicting info from employees is irritating. Some say you can bring strollers on the monorail, but no.

  7. Definitely helps to figure out when lines are long/short and order ahead, but it’s a bit clunky. My biggest complaint is that you can’t make a wish list of specific attractions or eateries, so the things you care about get lost in the sea of everything else on the map. Also, it’s a hassle to click on every restaurant and view each menu to know what food is available at the park. I’d love a list of all food items, with basic info on where to find them. But the app is still better than no app.

  8. The map won’t stay zoomed in to the focal point I’ve selected. Also, the Lightning Lane feature would sometimes not be ready for redemption when in line, and it was needed. Otherwise, it’s a great app, and a great complement to our visit!

  9. This app is so over loaded with information but I cannot find a list of places for food. I have to give the app a bunch of info on what I want to do but I don’t know how to use it. The physical in person maps always give clear info by area of attractions, food and other things, and either includes or there’s an additional leaflet on other park happenings. I cannot find the same simple clear info in the app. I just get lost and cannot find things and then end up back where I started.

  10. Very confusing to find your booked fast passes. Genie plus wasn’t worth the cost. $20 and we got 2 rides with it. The previous app and system was so much better. And don’t charge for rides when I have already paid for the ticket to get in and the genie plus access. It’s just greedy at that point

  11. Terrible app. No clear way of getting anywhere. It’s messed up our plans because it is buggy. Linked tickets don’t connect in reservations. I can’t see the meal reservation made by another guest. Kills my battery so I can’t use my phone for other things during my Disneyland trip. Terrible concept. Terrible. Should never have been made.

  12. This app constantly crashes. I’ve had to uninstall and reinstall it twice, to only have the problems persist. When I go redeem the genie pass for a ride, or place my self present for a dinner reservation, the app just happens to conveniently crash; causing me to open and close it several times before it works. Hopefully Disney will fix all their issues and the bleeding now that the board has fired that woke piece of garbage Chapek, and brought back Iger.

  13. I’ll never understand why this app is so highly rated. It’s good for checking ride wait times – every other task is an absolute garbage UX experience. The interface is bloated and very little feels intuitive. So frustrating trying to make reservations, set up mobile orders, etc. I give up on pretty much everything I try to do on here because it’s too frustrating.

  14. stevebwa dice:

Navigation is poor, but you can learn that. Missing functionality includes no way to customize mobile food orders; arrival windows refresh often, reloading the page back to the top of the list; constant ads for Genie+ even though I already bought it; 2 people on the same reservation need to each scan photo pass with photographer in order to both see photos in the app; attraction wait times in app may differ significantly from times displayed at standby lines. Poorly designed and executed app.

  15. The Disneyland app has always been a bit buggy. In the most recent versions I have seen far fewer crashes than pre-pandemic. However my biggest concern is the addition of the Genie feature. It’s reasonable enough to figure out but it feels more like an obstacle than a tool. Mobile food ordering is probably the best thing about the app, which is kind of a shame considering that you have to use the app to book Lightning Lane attractions. I’m hoping in the coming months the app will fine-tune this

  16. Joe Wiles dice:

Buggy, confusingly over-designed, un-intuitive, and turning our vacation experience into a frustrating tech support hellscape. No explanations as to why certain functions won’t work, says rides are open and available, let’s you book a lightning lane pass only to have the ride close with no notification. I’m sure once I get the hang of it, it’s helpful. I’m a tech guy and this app isn’t easy to figure out.

  17. I finally went back to the parks after seven years and flew in to OC for approximately 40 hours just to take my three nephews to the parks. I experienced too many glitches to count. It made for an extremely disappointing experience, especially as a former cast member. The majority of what I needed to do was codependent via the app. I too purchased four Genie passes in advanced, the majority of the times, when I attempted to make a reservation – You are not using a US or Canada app. What??!!

  18. vittorio dice:

The app is really convoluted, definitely not use friendly, it requires like 10 passages to to everything. The genius+ option is garbage, I paid 20 dollars extra and it was possible to use it only on few attraction and you have to accept the time proposed by the app. As result i was forced to go back and forth from one side of the park to the other. Disneyland is fantastic but the experience was really ruined by the app.

  19. T Norris dice:

This app has so many problems! Getting’technical difficulties retrieving data from the server’ when trying to make dining reservations at 3am when the new day is made available. Tried for 2 hours, on 5 different devices, although my friend could get in and out to make reservations at the same time! And the tech support people don’t get in until 7am

  20. Back to using the app. The new Genie/Genie+ takes some getting used to I still haven’t figured it all out yet. It’s unfortunate that pass holders don’t get to enjoy the fast pass perks we used to. I also don’t like the fact that you can only lightning lanes once per ride. Some of the rides I don’t ever go on and it seems like a bit of a waste. I’m also having a hard time making dinning reservations, I’m constantly checking for availability.

  21. This app is so great to help plan and coordinate trips to the parks. It’s got so many great features to help you decide what to do. I love the feel time map and ease of ordering and using Genie+ services. Only downfall is battery drain and sometimes slow service when you’re near a park, but not quite in the park yet.

  22. Doesn’t work well on my pixel phone, at least. Even after uninstalling and reinstalling, I couldn’t do anything to do with dining – no mobile order, no joining the wait-list, nothing. It would just blank out, restart, or give an error message. I could store my ticket and join virtual queues but I didn’t do any version of genie this time. The map is helpful but glitchy, resetting to the full map after only a few seconds, I was always having to hold it “open/large” so it wouldn’t shrink on me.

  23. Trying to figure out how to use the app to use Genie+ was an exercise in frustration. The app is unintuitive, especially for new users. Genie+ did not register that I used the Lightning Lane, and thus locked me out from reserving on another ride. The app also constantly crashes if I try to view “my day.” It has a map, I suppose that’s one good thing about it.

  24. Not organized. Just random buttons that look like ads and aren’t clear where they will take you when you click. Where are the lists of restaurants and rides and bathroom locations. These are easy lists to include. It needs less useless photos. It needs a clear branching organization so you can quickly find information.

  25. The wait times info and tips were great. Needs work for searching for food. The worst part was not being able to order food with it. The menus also only she images of the food if you’re ordering food. For a multi-billion corporation, you’d think they’d spend $ to test their app well.

  26. This app should be the model for other Disney apps. It just works, excellent map functionality including live updating maps with visual or turn by turn directions. The location coverage is so good, you can even look up water bottle filling stations. This app raises the bar for Disney’s many other sub-par apps. Hopefully now that Chapek is gone they can consolidate everything else under this one.

  27. I’ve always loved the app, but now I can’t link my two Magicband+ that were an extra $40 each. I’ve restarted and re-downloaded the app, Same with my phone. I’ve tried scanning the QR, using the Tap, and manually entering ID code…no luck, the app shuts down. This has gone on for 3 days. My trip is in a month and I’m getting nervous the bands won’t work.

  28. Functionally, the app is great, it has everything you could want but the user interface is terrible. It isn’t intuitive. Most used items like, wait times, photo pass and fast pass are all in different areas and even Disney employees had trouble navigating the app to help me. I never know where to go to find the right thing and it is too many clicks to get there. If I choose a filter, leave that filter in place until I reset it. Mobile ordering and fast passes work great.

  29. I’ve used this app for several years now and it has always worked great. But for some reason today it’s been horrible. I’m at Disneyland and I can’t sign on with 9r without wifi until trying for the dozenth time EACH time I open it. It doesn’t even respond to my touch. When it does, I can barely get to the essentials, like my maxpass, and only after several tries. I can’t access the map or event times or anything else. Very frustrating!

  30. *EDIT: if you’re having trouble, re-install. Then go to settings and clear everything (cache, storage, memory, etc.) for the app. Works normally after that.* This app is just unusable with the latest version. It’s constantly requesting the location of the phone and won’t let me log in. I have an annual pass with MaxPass and I can’t use this service because of the buggy app. Disney please fix this as soon as possible, this is a terrible experience and affects the park experience as well!

  31. Jak Teel dice:

Not as intuitive as it should be. People really look forward to Disney trips and are often times overly excited. The planning of the trip can get stressful because you want everything to be perfect and this App is not as easily used or intuitive as it should be to help those who are excited, stressed, and anxious trying to plan the “perfect” trip. Once you figure it out, it is a helpful tool and has all the info you need to make you’re trip magical.

  32. seems to work well I will be going to Disneyland in September and I’ve been using it to plan my trip. only sujesttion I have now is the drop down menu. if there were more categories for I do find it difficult to find some features. I have had to stumble and find some of it’s great features then remember how I got to it. for instance the map showing wait times I finally after 2 days realized that I clicked on it when I first opened the application not in the menu.

  33. Much more useful and functional than it was years ago. Not as battery-draining as it used to be, either. Still room for improvement. Some functions aren’t as easily repeatedly findable as they could be. Not all Galaxy’s Edge restaurants were showing on the map when I selected dining. Waiting times on the map aren’t always in sync with what boards show at the ride.

  34. This app is really slick. It was intuitive, and had relevant, useful information. It was great to see wait times across both parks (which were kept up-to-date). Not to mention that it was required for getting ROTR boarding passes – which was also an amazingly smooth process: no lag, updated quickly, etc. Needless to say, I was impressed with the app. It genuinely enhanced the experience of the visit. (I never even used the “Play” feature, but heard it was also a positive addition)

  35. skad dice:

The “play” option doesn’t function at all. Getting a boarding group for rise of the resistance allows other people to take your spot while signing up so we got in, but when we hit the finalize button, it kicked us out and we didn’t get a spot. (This was withing 2 seconds of the queue opening). My biggest issue is just that the app gets stuck while trying to load the “play” feature. You just get stuck on the loading screen.

  36. It could be a bit more user friendly. It gets frustrating when you want to get your fast passes and sometimes it doesn’t go through or it makes you start over multiple times. It took me to process the max pass multiple times before it worked. Luckily it didnt charge me for all those times (even though it showed up on my bank statements but was canceled later).

  37. Love Disneyland but absolutely hate their app. Location services keeps flickering and the map freezes so I’m unable to pan and zoom to see what the wait times are at both parks. Seems like there’s an issue with Android phones. Doubt it has anything to do with service as my wife has an iPhone but is able to pull up the map and navigate it with ease, and we’re both on T-Mobile. Please fix the app so I can enjoy it like everyone else. It’s the least you can do for an Annual Passport Holder.

  38. The app is decent overall. It helps a great deal with planning out a day, but is missing a single crucial feature to make this an excellent 5 star experience. It needs a general planning tool. You can plan fastpasses and make dining reservations, but if you want to bookmark a show or parade time, there is no function. You should be able to select “I’m interested in seeing Mickey and the Magical Map at 3:05pm”. That way you can refer to it when needed in the “My Plans” list.

  39. This app is disappointing. It can be slow and get bogged down, it’s not intuitive to use, difficult to find things without using the search function. You have to click on too many things to get to what you’re looking for. It does hold your season pass, and you can purchase the max pass but other than that, it kinda sucks. Please Disney, fix your app!

  40. Fantastic! Every Disneygoer needs this app. It gives you the best updated information on food options, wait times, and you can even order online and sync up your ticket(s)/pass(es) for easy access to photos and MaxPass+. It helps me plan out my day more efficiently and leaves me with the option to add in something different or on the fly while I’m there so I make the most out of every visit. Certain areas of the park even have interactive games. Only downside is battery drainage, bring chargers!
