BLOCK TRACKERS
Tor Browser isolates each website you visit so third-party trackers and ads can’t follow you. Any cookies automatically clear when you’re done browsing.
DEFEND AGAINST SURVEILLANCE
Tor Browser prevents someone watching your connection from knowing what websites you visit. All anyone monitoring your browsing habits can see is that you’re using Tor.
RESIST FINGERPRINTING
Tor aims to make all users look the same, making it difficult for you to be fingerprinted based on your browser and device information.
MULTI-LAYERED ENCRYPTION
When you use Tor Browser for Android, your traffic is relayed and encrypted three times as it passes over the Tor network. The network is comprised of thousands of volunteer-run servers known as Tor relays. Watch this animation to learn more about how it works:
BROWSE FREELY
With Tor Browser for Android, you are free to access sites your local internet service provider may have blocked.

I love the desktop version, but there are a few problems (although minor) that I have with this mobile version. First, when I change my home page, it reverts to about:tor after I restart the app. I imagine this is a quick fix, so it’s not too big of a problem. The second problem is that the network speed on the mobile version seems to be even slower than the desktop version. Finally, I have a quick suggestion: I think the browser should have a built in QR code reader for secure link sharing.
Very good program, no problems establishing and maintaining a connection to the Tor Network and accessing restricted websites. There are a few small bugs: -I wish there was an option in the settings to automatically connect to the Tor Network when the application is started, instead of requiring the user manually click the onion-shaped “START” button. I only launch this app on my device when I intend to connect to the Tor Network, it would make sense to connect-on-launch. -There is an option in the settings the user can uncheck to disable Always-On Notifications, but the option does not seem to work. -The “save file” or “save image as” options on webpages does not work. Maybe the application is saving the images somewhere deep in the applications folder, I don’t know. But there is nothing in the standard downloads folder in Android, this is inconvenient for most users. Overall though this application does the job, and does it much more smoothly that having to use Orbot and Orfox separately.
It works well, except for one thing: I often get rejected on YouTube with an “unusual traffic” message. I wish the browser would check YT connectivity before assigning an exit point. This error sometimes happens repeatedly, and the only cure is to close the browser, restart it, and hope that you get an exit point that YouTube (Google) “likes”. Also, it would be nice if you could specify the country for the exit point as well.
Hello World! I’m not sure what the difference is between this and the regular browser. They are both made by the same project so maybe I should dig in a bit to find out the differences as I haven’t noticed any. Overall, the app works great and keeps you hidden from those nasty trackers. Runs pretty snappy, no issues to date. Great job Tor Project! Keep it going!
I love this app, but ever since I updated it this last time, it glitches out about 3 seconds after I try to connect to the Tor network, the furthest i have gotten it to connect to Tor since then before it stops is 10% bootstraped. I hope that this can be resolved because I would very much like to be able to get back to using this as my browser, as it is by far, my favorite option for a browser that is secure and has been stable up until this last update.
i like this browser very much but it had problem which i am facing. When i tried to upload any file it didnt select my file. And overall 5/5 from me.
Not impressive. I couldn’t load a site, as Tor said I needed to configure something. There were no instructions or friendly tips on how to do it. I need a functioning browser, not a pretty symbol cluttering my screen.
Seems to work. But can’t access certain sites because of “government restrictions” so not really doing the job
Useless keeps giving connection refused. Still having issues a month later
I love the privacy and tor browser alpha rocks. my confidential browsing is what I believe in… so thank you!
App no longer works since the last update. It crashes just after opening. If I can click connect, it crashes. If Ian even connect, it crashes. If I’m lucky, I can load ONE page before either the app crashes or I get proxy server error messages. And you guys want me to make this my default browser?! Lol, how about NO. I’m absolutely disgusted. Because your latest “update” also wiped all my bookmarks. Thank you SO much for this wonderful browsing experience 😡
ABOUT:CONFIG ACCESS PROVIDED;THEREFORE, CAN HAVE SUPER USER LIKE CONTROL OF BROWSER (e.g. ENABLE DNS OVER HTTPS). BUT, ZON’T ZO ZIT BECAUSE Tor REMOTELY RESOLVES DNS QUERIES, HUH.
Tor Browser stops at 20% loading with Snowflake bridge enabled and .onion sites prioritization doesn’t always work.
Excellent browser for android works better than any other tor browser
So far, the browser is ok for an Alpha. But: That typewriter font is not confortable for reading, pretty slow and, most important, it has affected my phone performance. Some apps, such us Twitter and Spotify, crash almost all the time. I will move to Orbot for now. Still, is a very promising app. Keep the good work
as far as browsers goes in the cloud World? a very nice one that actually stands up to the competition. thanks!!!
Absolutely love this version of tor, it connects way faster than the normal version. I know it’s work in progress but some times I have problems with images not appearing when opening a website (problem solved after reloading the page) and some external video links. But still love the app.
It’s all still acceptable. The connection is fast, secure, and anonymous. The problem is I can’t save image everytime I clicked “save image”. I don’t know if it’s a bug or purposedly made like that, but if it isn’t a feature then just remove the option to save image.
so many flaws. it does connect to tor ) when it doesn’t crash trying), and occasionally you can load pages… very slowly and unpredictably. unintuitive interface problems, like the X on tabs moving right in front of you when you try to click in it… just lacking in attentive design. but it’s better than nothing.
I have had a positive experience with the app. Only reason for 4 stars is, when i open the app it will try to crash immediatly but, i have figured out if you open the app and quickly hold your finger to the screen, the app will stay open and after a couple of seconds holding your finger to the screen you can click connect……😀
Updated version is garbage. OverSimplified version took away server selector. Now no longer able to connect quickly, has been sitting without proper connection for over 10 minutes. Absolutely garbage! Edit: does not connect. App is 100% useless. Stick to version 60.5.1 it’s far more efficient and actually works
way too slow . doesnt even connect to the internet . has issues with access over apps does not allow me to turn it on . So uninstalled . I thought it would be wise to download something not google. sadly lagging behind a bit . does help having no trackers like ads and history . security
Ive had to keep redownloading the app. Its super annoying when trying to look something up then leaving it, coming back to it and it sends me to a new user. Then it wont load. Its connects to the bridge then just stops working. Afterall, its good just a little annoying for redownloading all the time. *2017 Samsung Phone* (J3 Prime)
If I could give the updated version less then 1 star, I would’ve. As many have come to realize, this updated version is a sad reflection of Tor project. Being very familiar with all the tor apps, since August 2020, this latest version has a plthera of problems; unable to tap on boxes to enter user and passwords and unable to download files are just two of the major problems. I seriously hope these apps are reconfigured to go back to the versions of September 2020.
The recent update (2 days ago), results in a broken application. Always an error that the proxy is refusing connections. This never happened before the most recent update. This application is not usable anymore (at this end). This is sad (because it used to be a terrific application!) – I really hope the next update fixes this. (Sad to give only one star, but the application no longer works here, hoping I can give five stars in the future).
I Love it and the comments would suggest it’d be safer than Orfox for the generation largely unaware an internet beyond social networks exists. PLEASE KEEP maintaining ORBOT though, it’s still essential for connecting many apps to the internet, from cryptocurrency wallets to things like Zeronet, even light browsing on I2P. If it helps, the url box at the top also acts as a search box. The captcha trap is the equivalent of the mobile browser blocking at the turn of the millenium(it’ll pass).
Okay so i use this honestly just to give you notes on what works and doesn’t . Couple key issues downloads are rarely working the newer UI auto converts .rar to .bin which i cant extract on my android based rar extractor. Another issue changed since previous update for negative is crashes when using any onion sites. Also most sites no longer fit to proper Android screen in newer update. Hope u get this UI fixed soon or revert back to old style cause that worked great before the UI change.
i have used it for several months but now from yesterday 06/08/2019, it is not running. whenever I open the tor, I get startup screen for millisecond and closes down. After 2 attempts, i get a notification giving 2 options. 1-close app, 2-send report. i have uninstalled and reinstalled the app but still having same issue.
I installed the browser on my Samsung tab A version 8.1.0 tablet. although it worked fine in itself, when I tried afterwards to ‘google’ something, there was an ‘oops’ message & no web page. This happened on Chrome also. The browser that still worked was Opera. I uninstalled the Tor program, but it was still the same. I then did a factory reset on Chrome (I was unable to uninstall, as it was part of the operating system) & everything was back to normal. Today I updated Chrome & all was OK.
Like some others have mentioned, this used to be a good app up until recently. Now it is completely unusable, it crashes all the time and although it is not set as my default browser it seems to still take over every link I open. Cannot recommend this app in its current state.
Excellent! A little slower than chrome and other browsers but WELL WORTH IT for the elimination of distractions like excessive advertising. not to mention the greater security, no cookies, and no history. I’ve already started using it most of the time.
Can’t connect. keeps saying server not available and only brings me to about:tor homepage. too many add ons and not enough security. my current browser and VPN provides more privacy. tried this in conjunction with orbot. Neither connection turn from either. high reviews online but doesn’t fully do what it’s advertising.
crashing..lots of crashing.. due to Google and their forced software updates. previous version worked well. latest version crashes when i try to use it. i can’t even get tor connected. Google is out to stop this since they are evil and don’t want you to have privacy.
Freezes and Hangs many times while commenting on Non YouTube Video sites. Encountered it on different occasions on 2 different devices models. This issue didn’t occur in other browsers. Its better to use Opera,Kiwi,Firefox or any other good browser of your choice on a TOR Network rather than this browser. Experienced similar issues on Orbot Browser also.
Everybody already knew that they had to install orbot before using this browser, but in this update you just added inbuilt orbot vpn again? Do you know that these two cannot work simultaneously and there is no option to ignore inbuilt vpn? So this a problem for me. Another problem is the expanded notification which doesn’t expand just like new orbot update… everything else works great keep up the good work!
Does what it’s supposed to do. The only regret i have is, since this project is based on principles of freedom, users don’t get to easily switch their guard relays. Also, there is perhaps no way on android to see the circuit / from which our data is travelling like in Desktop version. Other then that, bravo Torproject Team.
This App is really good, and the fact that I could easily access the Hidden Links to access an encrypted version of Facebook. Although, I still do know modern cryptography is still easy decrypt and get the data off, which of course doesnt seem to make it completely Anonymous as it is meant to be, but the software is really nice softwares and works pretty well; I like it. Nonetheless, anyone who would like to access the TOR; I would recommend this for direct access other than using Orbot/Orfox.
one of the best and most dependable apps in the play stores today, payed or free. more power and creativity in developing new apps in this resurgence of great activity in using and maximizing most fields like in industries, medicine, engineering, agriculture, shopping, safety and security etc. However,in our midst ,is a vicious pandemic which is a big threat to our hopes and a spoiler to the achievements in the past. Anyways, thanks for this app.
This app for me has been working very well. it has always been medium fast to load pages and such, until just recently mine stopped working and had to install it again. now sometimes it works like it used to and sometimes it just loads for ever and ever. hope it get’s fixed cause I like to use it often.
I really enjoyed this app and felt secure but out of nowhere it started telling me that the add-ons like no script and https everywhere were corrupted. So I went into the tools opinion and went to firefox to reinstall my add-ons and other ones too but when I did it said was corrupted right after I downloaded it please fix this issue I do like the add-ons thank you very much!
