I used this browser for years, but the developer seems to have completely abandoned it. Even the latest (one-year-old) version can’t render many sites properly, making those sites pop up with a notice saying that they’ve detected its using an outdated rendering engine that the site does not support. Worst thing of all: the “Dolphin Connect”. It’s supposed to sync our bookmarks, history, but it can’t connect… Instead just gives us a 504 Gateway Time-out error, indicating the server is offline.
Something happened with this latest version, the browser does not prompt for image uploads. While on Facebook or Google Photos and clicking the button to add photos, nothing happens. There’s no screen that comes up to let you select photos. I have all permissions enabled and I tried reinstalling the app, and it works for me in Chrome. Please be advised.
I’ve used the browser forever and love it. Unfortunately the most recent update loads pages in desktop mode, i have to switch to desktop mode then back to mobile for it to render the page correctly. edit : I’ve now lowered my review to 2 stars because it’s been two months and they still haven’t addressed the issue that many of us are complaining about.
The problem I have with this app when I select a phrase or name that’s trending under the search bar it appears brings me to results of a search in which “null” was the keyword. This issue is minor and I don’t use that feature often but it is very annoying. Seems like it would be an easy fix. One of my favorite web browsers though. Other than that small issue I think the app is great!
This used to be my favorite browser…for YEARS. You could scroll through multiple open tabs and organize your bookmarks. (A lot like Firefox.) So when I got a new phone, it was one of ths first apps I downloaded. Shortly after, it crashed everytime I tried to open bookmarks or use it any other way. Uninstalled. Using Chrome now. I don’t like it as well, but it doesn’t crash.
Been going downhill for years with annoying and shifty ad practices, but I stuck with it because the UI was convenient. Now even that’s gone. The tabs at the top of the screen were massively convenient and no other mobile browser used that setup. Now it’s been axed with no option to revert to the old design. Avoided updating to keep tabs, but had to replace my phone recently and have lost the last reason I kept this browser.
Full of bugs after the latest update (12/6/2020). App crashes once a day and wipes out all open tabs. App refuses to open/display web pages when you click on an ad in the search results, even if it’s the page you’re looking for. Random embedded Flash/Java scripts will not play. I’ve tried sending in ‘support requests,’ but they go unanswered. Switched to Brave Browser. Much better!
The exporting and importing feature of bookmarks is horrible. I synced my bookmarks to their cloud because I had to uninstall/reinstall the app, but after it was all complete, less than half of them were saved back to my device. I can see that all my bookmarks are still in their cloud, but it seems aa though it won’t import them all back to my device. Don’t even waste your time with sending an email to their support team, as they don’t bother to reply back.
I’ve been a Dolphin fan for years, even through them storing its users’ information twice, when it started crashing, when the tab push quit working, and through my bookmarks not syncing, then the whole browser not syncing. The straw that broke the camel’s back was that, now, most pictures aren’t loading. You’ve managed to lose a decade long customer due to easily fixed issues being ignored. Two stars for good Speed Dial options and Open In New Tab/Open In Background option, which is hard to find
I like your browser a lot and use it daily as my only browser on my tablet. I would like to ask for two improvements though. The first is a much longer and more permanent browser history without having to sign into anything, especially not any kind of ‘cloud’ nonsense. The second thing is to remove the behavior where if you go back too many times in a tab the browser closes. That’s not expected or wanted; there are already normal ways to close the browser. Thank you.
I love this app a lot, including the design. I have an easier time using it than other browsers. The only thing I wish I had the ability to do is being able to save the title and hyperlink of articles to Microsoft word or other text writing apps, or email the desired news articles to an email account, or something. Thanks and keep up the good work.
Alsolute garbage. Crashes CONSTANTLY. And when it crashes ALL TABS disappear and your history is gone, so you can even find that. I was bookmarking everything in fear. But bookmarking is also terrible!! You can’t sinc across devises, just get to 3% and an error message if you’re lucky. The interface is bad and difficult to navigate. The one good thing is night mode, but I’ve found another browser that does even that better. You’re better off saving yourself a headache and browsing elsewhere
The interface is streamlined, and I have complete control of sitws I wish to visit. I previously used Opera mini, but recently it has become intense nagware and I have switched out of it. I also don’t get false flag blocked to important authentication login sites like with Chrome, which was why I initially switched over and gave Dolphin a shot. Everything is working now, andbit’s quick, simple, and clean. However, you almost had a 5 star, but the lack of integrity in your internal rating system was a massive turn off. I either had the option to “dislike” or give you “5 stars!” and that balls-out ultimatum raised my eyebrow into orbit. Try some less manipulative rating fishing and eat some humble pie next time, guys.
Dolphin is my go-to fav browser! Unfortunately I’m unable to use it lately as page size is displayed incorrectly in both mobile & desktop modes, resulting in pages becoming cut off & completely unreadable. Please fix this! Additionally, color schemes in sidebars & menus along with a continual addition to the list of add-ons would be major plusses &, as well as going a long way in incentivizing the addition of a fourth & fifth star, would also be very much appreciated.
Have primarily used this browser for years, but losing tabs 5 seconds after you open them, simply because you leave the app to check something else, isn’t at all convenient, and definitely means making a change to another browser is necessary at this point. Maybe I’ll return, if the problem is resolved, but only if other options don’t pan out.
Used this app for years and it used to compete well with the other browsers, however, it seems like the developers neglect it. It hasn’t had new features in years and there are still long-standing bugs (such as text input sometimes not working in a search bar unless you switch tabs and go back to it OR sometimes when you open a link externally and Dolphin is already in the background with tabs open, the existing tab will not move to the new site). When you email them it says their inbox is full.
Dolphin was a decent browser when I started using it but it has become completely useless. The web pages don’t always load correctly even though they load just fine in other browsers. It’s crashed on me a few times as well. On top of that I can’t use it to upload images to the web anymore. It just stopped working like a web browser should.
I have problem to sync bookmark on different devices, also couldn’t figure out different UI on different devices. I have two phones (Huawei and LG) and a Samsung tablet. The Huawei phone and Samsung have been used for a while, the bookmark on both devices are nearly identical. The LG phone I got recently . After installing Dolphin, the first thing I was syncing the bookmark. Somehow the bookmark on the LG phone is very different than other two devices. I used the same Google account to login and sync. 2nd thing I noticed that on the LG phone. the browser does not show the tab(s) on the top. I have been struggling with the two issue. Did spend some time to google the issues, I am not able to find any answers from internet. Any suggestion/advices for the issue.
Browser has been declining. Tech support is unreachable. You can no long view downloaded files. Won’t give a path to available apps to view downloads. Constantly freezes so you have to force close and reopen. Now takes ages to load webpages that other browsers do almost instant. Has a one of a kind tab lay out for open tabs that I absolutely love but I have to search else where due to the numerous other issues.
Have used this browser for as long as I can remember. Recomended it to everyone with a phone. I have been fighting even considering another one but since jetpack stopped (working or being used I cant tell) it has been steady downhill. Each update has not been helpfull. More crashing, losing bookmarks, add-ons not working (Dolphin translate). I cant think of a reason to stay any longer..
This app has greatly declined over the last few years. After recent “updates” I can no longer access my saved data from their cloud. I get a “failure to load cloud data” error every time the browser tries to sync. I contacted Dolphin “support” and received no help whatsoever, not even a single response to multiple messages that I sent. I am uninstalling this now terrible app, it’s the broswer from hell! All data lost and no corrective updates provided to fix the problems with their browser! 👎
After trying many very crappy ad free browsers, each with their own horrible problems, I tried Dolphin. It’s stable fast and ad free! There are only two small issues I have found. 1. When you visit a site multiple times it keeps asking to put a shortcut on my home screen. No thank you, I’d rather use bookmarks. 2. If you use auto complete to fill in an address the trailing white space crashes the browser. Outside of that, 4 stars good job Dolphin Team!
This browser is cool, but it has the most annoying behavior. Whenever you try to type in a URL, as soon as you put a period into the address, the browser inserts a space. So you have to backspace to remove it. It may be the keyboard that is actually inserting the space, but this doesn’t happen on any other browser I use on my phone, so there’s something that Dolphin isn’t doing to make the keyboard understand that it’s a URL entry form.
Every time I type to search something, one or two characters get written before my search word and have to delete the unnecessary character or characters before I can start the search. This is really annoying. I wish this could get fixed. Overall the Dolphin Browser is very good but the above annoyance is forcing me to abandon it. Please fix. Thank you.
Almost perfect. I have been using this app for many years and i love almost everything about Dolphin. The last couple years its been crashing more and more sadly and its getting to the point where its crashing every 10-15 minutes. It is because of that, and only that, that I will be looking for a new mobile browser. I use my mobile browser way to much to put up with this anymore. If Dolphin fixes this issue i will gladly come back. Until then, enjoy.
Been using for years with only minor issues. However, after upgrading to a new phone that does not have a SD card, I’m finding out Dolphin doesn’t allow the download directory to be anywhere OTHER than the SD card. Funny, the SD card still displays as a location in Dolphin, despite it not existing on my phone. So where the heck is everything being saved to?!!! Also, when trying to save/retrieve settings via the Sync feature, the syncing konks out at 3% every time. So I lost all of my bookmarks.
I’ve always loved this browser but recently i have a problem with Facebook video, it plays without sound and if I unmute the sound the video stops. apparently both cant work at the same time, this is annoying and i miss out on a lot. I tried to change settings, allow ads etc but nothing works. I tried looking for an add on but even add ons aren’t displaying, it says ‘502 Bad Gateway’. I saw someone else also had this FB problem, so its just not me. Any help you can offer is appreciated.
updated to the most recent & now Dolphin freezes when I go fullscreen even though the audio continues. Not sure if its just a new kind of crash in a crashprone browser or what. I loved the scrub features (vertical volume scrub on right side, brightness on left, and video from right to left with just a finger). If only it would work again I’d give it 5 stars
Best phone browser Funny thing as of the latest Android update a couple mo ths ago, and this is true among multiple Galaxy series phones, is that making a web search while keyboard suggestions and auto-correct is turned on is tricky. This is because typing a word into the Dolphin web search will almost always add a couple random letters to the front of the word. It’s so strange. I usually need to place a space before typing a word.
I used to love dolphin. I’ve been using this browsers for well over 7 years however with my new Nokia 3.1 plus it is refusing to restore my bookmarks. Every time I try it tells me there is a network error or that the app is beta mode and I need admin permission in order to continue. Needless to say, I’m disappointed after so many years of not having any issues.
I’ve used Dolphin for several years now on iphone & android. Mostly its a great browser. My main problem is there seems to be a glitch in the settings versus what the browser actually does. For example i have turned on the option for “Load previous tab on startup”, but this setting has NEVER worked. I would love to make this app my go to browser app but i really think settings should run as selected. I cant download any add-ons, or find & use Sonar. Support website links don’t work.
Was great, now bad. I really liked this browser when I first started using it, but the last update appears to be malware. It is now insisting I enable location data for it to operate correctly and it prompts me to change my search engine to Yahoo. I’ve now uninstalled it from all devices. It had such great potential.
I’ve used Dolphin browser for several years, and it’s always been spectacular. But when I installed it on my new Android, it doesn’t “slide everything into place” like I remember it doing before. When I tried to find help with these new issues, I found basically nothing. Even worse is that when I read the reviews, I find out that numerous people experiencing these new problems. And then I realized that dozens of reviews that are months old haven’t even been responded to. I can’t believe this!
After the last update, the browser popped up some terms and conditions you have to agree to before using it. Im sorry but any WEB BROWSER that comes with T&C’s, i can only conclude that something nefarious is afoot. Ive used it for several years now, but after seeing that i immediately uninstalled it just on principle. There are other browsers out there
I’ve barely used this app. It seems like a decent app, and it’s fast. However, it’s annoying that it wants access to files and location before you can use the app; and I downloaded it to see if I could watch CC recordings that I was told in another browser were not supported by my current device, which is a tablet with an attatchable keyboard. It didn’t promise my very specific request so I will not give it a bad review for this. I am undownloading it cause I have Kiwi which works just as well.

The browser now has ads. i started with this browser because i had workarounds. But now a browser that inserted ads on my screen? Can’t delete fast enough. Stay Far Away!
It was great but now it’s crashing any time I enable AdBlock. The issue just started today. Before that it would randomly close out if I got too many tabs open, but that number could vary from less then 10 to over 30 tabs sometimes. My phone has 12GB of RAM so that shouldn’t be an issue.
I don’t leave comments easy, because ‘me’ very lazy. I have been using dolphin since it came out, and I seen a lot of bugs, some bugs were there like forever, and hoping the next update fixes it. But some bugs never did went away and did brothers me. Whatever happened to the last release, oh man, like all of them went away. Such as memory crashes, open email link like Amazon link doesn’t work, won’t remember tabs and restart after it went background for a while. Great job! All day 0 crash!
What happened to the add-ons? Latest update has caused my one add-on to vanish completely, and I cannot locate anywhere to get it re-installed. Plus, this browser still presents major issues failing to open web pages connected to shopping links (e.g. Home Depot, E-Bay, etc.). Forces me to use a different browser to connect to these sites.
