  1. I’d rather have a DVR box. App doesn’t pause live tv. I really miss this while watching live sports. If you record programming with commercials, fast forwarding isn’t easy. You can only see the timer and not the picture so you can easy pass your restart point. App does a lot of buffering almost guaranteed at the same time everyday. The big benefit to this app is that you save money from renting programming box.

    App is trash. Video stops every couple minutes with sound still playing. No clearing the cache, re installing, and restarting your phone does not fix the issue. Instead of the two aesthetics updatea to the app in the past several years. . . Maybe fix the constant video stopping issue?? Annoying as hell especially when your watching sports. I had to change channels back and forth 48 times during a two hour basketball game. Yes for this review I counted.

    “On Demand” is 100% unusable. Whenever I reach the end of an ad break, the app buffers for a moment before the adbreak timer resets, looping the same ad again, and again, and again….Forever. I’ve not been able to watch a single thing on this app. Outta be renamed to “Adware TV” as the ads seem to be the only thing it can stream. I wish I could give 0 stars.

Blurry, tried the forced stop, restart, delete, download, speed test 400+, all other streaming apps are CRYSTAL CLEAR, Spectrum app is always just a little blurry, lacking contrast, but as you continue to watch, it fades in and out of being sort of clear to down right blurry. Very frustrating, being a bit of a tv snob of sorts, you would think if you had one job to do, in this case provide streaming TV, it would at least be a good picture.

Whenever I try to watch something, the picture frequently glitches out and starts flashing back and forth between live tv and something that had previously been on the screen (like a prior image from the show) to the point where trying to watch starts giving me a headache and i will have to close out of the app and reopen it just to temporarily fix it.

  6. I’ve been using this app for almost 3 years, and every update they do makes it worse and worse!! On Demand audio doesn’t sync with visual, the Guide doesn’t work properly, the app freezes frequently, it’s so much slower to change from one channel to another……just name a few. All my complaints over the last 2 years has done nothing to help….it only keeps getting worse. Even tho they say they fixed the app, it is still the same problems that I listed above!! Nothing is fixed!

    I have been running the spectrum TV app for about 2 years now. It has turned out to be a really great app. I run it on Roku, tablets, and even my personal phone. With decent hardware it is fast and reliable and has quickly become a major part of my spectrum experience. If you’re paying for spectrum you should take advantage of this free app and take your TV wherever you want to. Highly recommended. UPDATE: the latest app update 9.13 seems to load a little slower but could be the age of my phone.

  8. This app is basically unwatchable. I have it on my phone and smart TV, and both are infuriating frustrating to use. Want to watch the World Cup? Forget it. Want to watch football? Dont bother. You get 5 secs of play interrupted by 10-40 secs of buffering, only to watch the game move ahead those 40 second. Maybe it’s the feed to Spectrum? No, because the Fox Sports app works fine. Thank you Spectrum for making the experience of watching the USMNT and other events, a complete waste of time.

  9. Update: this app is plain broken now. Will not load a single channel no matter how many times I delete the app and its data and reinstall. Way to go guys. You made it much worse. Original: The spectrum tv app on my phone now decides to freeze after 30 seconds of use every time. I have to either change the channels back and forth to refresh it or just deal with only audio. It seems worse in full screen view. This wasnt a problem until the last month or so. Please fix whatever yall goofed up.

  10. Specifically for the Android device and don’t like that video is not centered in full screen mode. It’s aligned to the right edge with a big bank sace to the left. It’s annoying enough when watching on the device, but when you try to stream it to a screen it’s even worse. It displays on the screen that same way which is very distracting and not enjoyable to view. Also, I don’t like that I can’t watch half of my channels when I’m away from home.

  11. Starting 2-3 weeks ago when I cast certain channels the video and audio cuts out every five seconds. I have updated the app, deleted and re-download the app, tried casting from multiple devices and nothing fixes it. Now if I want to watch football I have to hope I can cast it from the ESPN app watch the entire thing on my phone screen or go to a friend’s house to watch it.

  12. nice app, i do like it & have been looking for something to let me watch tv when I’m not home. one rather noticable miss, there seems to be no may to put the app into a “full-screen” node (to remove the channel listings & have the small rectangle at the top fill the whole screen on my mobile phone), only workaround i’ve found so far is a two-step process, close the app then tap the small video to make that full-screen. not a deal breaker, but it’s something to know.

  13. Spends most of the time buffering! Was told its my internet but I have the highest speed internet…FROM THEM!!! The app crashes on my Android phone AND tv! Fast forwarding on recorded shows is done blindly so you never know when the commercials are done. And if you hit fast forward 3 times the app freezes! Since they aren’t part of Roku I had to get the app. I was told to unplug my roku device several times and still have issues. Totally unimpressed.

  14. I can’t watch local channels. Everytime I try to click on any news channel, i.e., Fox 8 in the morning, it says to update my location. I have updated the location at least 15 times and it still tells me to update location. I have tried a couple different ways on my samsung android. I’m quite frustrated!!

  15. Does not support frame views of where you are at when fast forwarding and going back. All other streaming services that I know about have this BASIC functionality. It is very difficult to use on-demand and saved programs. Also, this app does NOT support going back when watching live TV. Again, most apps I know of support this like a normal DVR. Unless you have no choice, I would suggest YouTube TV or other streaming service.

    Even worse than before. I used to be able to see all my channels in the listing and at least select that I wanted to record a show, even if I couldn’t watch it on the app. Now, it only shows channels I can watch on the app. I can understand that being A CHOICE, but not being the only option. Also “Stream On Demand or live TV anywhere, on any device.” remains a falsehood. This cannot be installed on Android TV.

  17. They’ve been out to fix it once from the pole outside, second time to install something called an amplifier to the back of my tv. Problems still exist, slow, buffering, sometimes the tv just clicks itself from a movie, back to the home screen, movie freezes up and when it’s not doing that, the audio speaks in slow motion. Sounds like something demonic is talking! For real, really.

  18. I absolutely love Spectrum TV!!! so many stations and options. If you can’t find anything to watch then you haven’t looked. I highly recommend Spectrum. I have Wi-Fi, Internet, TV and cell phone with Spectrum. you just can’t go wrong and my cell phone literally never drops and I drive everywhere. I turn on Pandora rings thru my car speakers and off we go!!!

  19. Buffer circle now constant in upper left corner of tv screens. As if buffering in the middle of the screen was not bad enough, now there is one in the top left of the screen that never goes away! Doesnt matter which tv or brand it is. Kind of missing youtube tv now. Had recording space with them too. You need to fix this at the price we pay.

    It used to be that paying for spectrum internet with a cable TV package was enough to use the spectrum app on your Wi-Fi to access all the channels you pay for. Now you have to use their supplied Wi-Fi. Your own router and Wi-Fi no longer work with many channels you pay for. Spectrum Wi-Fi is not free. It’s one of those added fees they claim not to have.

  21. I wish I had Comcast. The remote is not voice controlled. Fails to record programs. Too many errors in signal. Poor Wi-Fi. Signals drop far or too often. One installer doesn’t know anything more than the the next. Customer service is pretty good though they do answer the phone.

  22. Horrible. I stream apps through Chromecast. No problem with ANY other apps/services – THIS ONE times out all the time, esp. during live sporting events for some reason (can’t handle the traffic?). Know it’s not the Chromecast or device – no problem with Netflix, Prime Video, ESPN, Brit Box, Disney+ or HBO Max… ONLY Spectrum. Also annoying feature makes you interrupt shows to change channel to show you’re still watching. Why not just acknowledge with separate button or select “any” channel?

    While I enjoy the app sometimes it also irritates me. It buffers a lot so I miss a lot of what I’m watching. I often have to close the app and restart it and even then it doesn’t always fix it. I’m starting to wonder what I’m paying for buffering or TV update: still the app stops and you have to restart this is just ridiculous! I think it got worse.ipdate: still stops working you have to close and reopen the app I can’t believe after a year this is still happening.

  24. A pretty good program in its appearance & application however, the latest update has TOO MANY ADS!!!!!!!!!! Worse yet, they’re ill-timed & EXTREMELY REPITATIVE!!!!!!!!!! Don’t get me wrong,I don’t mind ads, after all, I might get what is offered but this is mesugah!!!!!!!!!! Since I own a 2160p panel, I’d like to see numbers that indicates that the broadcast media is indeed 4k like Netflix shows.

  25. The last month or so, I have to re-enter my password on every device. It’s. Very. Annoying. I use a complicated, secure password, which takes forever to enter on the TV. I have no idea why this started happening. The first year, we stayed signed in on all our devices. For what reason would this change?? And now, on my phone app, my password somehow “doesn’t match the records”. Well, sorry Spectrum, but that’s the only password I know.

  26. This app has issues with some newer smart Samsung televisions. In my case, using the Samsung remote while on this app, incrementally increasing/decreasing the channel button will cause a channel jump from between 10 – 200 stations. Spectrum informed me that an update will eventually happen on this app. No estimate of how many more months or years before this happens.

  27. They still haven’t figured out how to allow for the “full screen” feature which most other apps do! I also can’t figure out why only a couple of programs are showing up on my watch list even though the rest of the movies & shows I’ve selected have not been removed! No way to “view more” so where did they go? This app just seems to get more difficult to use & has less to offer in way of “Entertainment Apps”!

  28. I’m begging you guys… Can you PLEASE fix the deal with the ads on this app!? I’ve always had so many different problems with this app, and it only seems to get worse with every update. It plays all the ads, then starts over and plays them all again. Then if you rewind it, you have to watch them all over AGAIN. I don’t understand why there’s always so many updates on apps when it only seems to make things worse.

Ever since your app was updated i can’t see when a show or movie will be on again cuz when you access “more ways to watch” it gives ridiculous dates such as 3/4 or 10/8 or 8/2 etc. which means there is NO LONGER a way to see WHEN a movie or show will be on again, it’s really frustrating as this has never happened in the past. I’ve had this app for about 8yrs and never had this problem. What is wrong? Can’t you fix it so it alines with current months again? PLEASE????

    The latest update crashes. My username was automatically populated when the new update was installed. However, when I try to log in, it says I have to call an 800 number to subscribe. Sometimes on my home network I can log in by automatically logging in and sometimes I have to disable wifi and then erase half of my username and reenter it and then input my password and only then about half the time it works. It’s terrible now. I never had this issue before.

  31. Recent issues with DVR function in Spectrum TV app; has become inconsistent and very buggy. Have tried uninstalling and reinstalling app. A couple of examples: (1) Old recordings disappear from list if there are no new recordings in list or in process of recording; once start a new recording, old recordings reappear. (2) Scheduled recordings sometimes do not record on schedule even though listed in To be Recorded list. Ida W

  32. The app is great when it works. I’m currently experiencing issues with the DVR not pulling up. For me, the whole purpose of this app is to watch my recordings on the go. I’ve googled how to fix it. I’ve deleted the app and downloaded it again. I’ve signed out and back in. I’ve restarted my phone several times. Nothing is working. If someone could please tell me how to fix this I will change my rating as I liked this app up until the last month when my DVR on the app crapped out.

    Not so thrilled. At first it crashed maybe once a month. Now, I’m lucky to get 24 hours before it needs to be reinstalled. If it’s taking more than 30 seconds to open and function, it probably has crashed. Delete and reinstall is much quicker than waiting. Just to see, I went 3 hours waiting for it and sure enough, nada. Yesterday I had to reinstall 3 times. Worst part is there is no alternative for my Spectrum TV app as it’s provided at they’re behest . Maybe it’s time too shop around,

    I was really upset with the August 12, 2022 update, as were alot of people. Spectrum developers listened, and it took only about 3 weeks to set things right by restoring the widescreen swipe over for favorite/recent channels. Thank you! It was a very important feature for all of us who use our phones in horizontal – widescreen mode and can’t be grabbing the phone to turn it to vertical to get to recent channels, which were also hard to see as they were so small vertically. 👍🏼 THANKS! 😁

  35. Spectrum app won’t load, again. When it does load it is difficult to use, you can no longer control the volume from within meaning that you have to have a tv remote also, the the service is too expensive. Edit: the app now let’s you control the volume from the phone and in a better manner. Good improvement. Still WAY too costly.

    Option to start on last viewed channel removed. Defaults to channel 1 unless specific channel is set. Removed ability to swipe left to go to any of last 9 channels viewed. Now, it can only be done in portrait mode. Spectrum was infuriating. The drone kept saying “updates are made to improve user experience.” When I asked to be escalated, she refused and lied saying it’s not an option. When I asked for management, I was escalated. He was aware of one of the changes agreeing it was a step back.

  37. This app was always very reliable and last week, it no longer works when connected to my wi-fi. it only works when I disconnect which means I can only access some of my channels. I called spectrum and they said there is nothing they can do. I tried to Uninstall and reinstall several times with no luck. this is very frustrating and if not corrected soon, I will be switching to a provider that can fix their own system issue without getting the run around.

  38. Great… when it’s working. Horrible when not. It suddenly stopped recognizing my Google tv chromecast twice, about 1 month apart. Spectrum can’t help, they aren’t aware of the problem. Sent a technician out, he didn’t even try because he didn’t know what the problem is. I fixed it by factory resetting Google tv. I shouldn’t have to, all other apps casts just fine, the problem is within the spectrum app. A huge inconvenience, I would switch if there were another cable provider in my area.

  39. Seems my previous review was deleted. On all platforms, endless buffering. On my Roku, I live in a community that has grouped internet access for the building. Often times, the app logs out and I can’t get to the streaming TV app. I have to constantly restart devices. When I call, they say they’re working it. It takes hours. They’re not good with delivering results. This app is terrible. I’d give it 0 stars if I could.

  40. I used to be able to record on my app. Plus every since my phone has updated. When I turn my phone sideways. I can no longer slide my screen to go to previous channels. With the way my eye sight is. This is a big problem. I would have to say that there are a bunch of major flaws in spectrums updates. Because it just isn’t my phone, but everyone that I that uses spectrum.
