Deleted app a while ago because it was never correct it was hard to find information I wanted to see and the charts were ridiculous and not easy to read. I decided since it’s been about 6 months to try again UPDATE: Issue not being able to log in fixed after I emailed .However the interface is still horrible and basically unusable, so I will still uninstall.

  2. I have only been using this app for a couple weeks. I had and still have no clue about it yet. The best part is THEY PAY YOU to learn about it. I started with $2 and my account is worth $10 from the extra they gave me. They still have brokers for you to ask for help,, etc. But, you can but a bid in at night and they get to it before the market opens.

  3. I’ve only used the app for 1 day so far. App froze on sign up, would not close or continue and had to force it to close. Graphs show nothing at all. Forced to make a post every time an investment is made, baby button doesn’t work most the time. Sometimes the app never opens and just shows the logo then a black screen. No options to not receive an email for every transaction. Very laggy and quite unusable. Going to leave the investments already deposited, but moving on to a different app.

  4. Love this app but lately it’s been so buggy on my Pixel 6 Pro. Constantly refreshes in the background. Hardly ever stays in memory and then have to clear it from memory and restart the app or it says my account is out of sync. Just kind of annoying to use lately. They add new features but don’t make sure the old ones work first. Chart also doesn’t work right a lot of the time. Just little annoying bugs.

No payment for order flow, only traded on lit exchanges. This is the way. Edit: I reduced from 5 stars to 1 star, now back to 5 stars. An app issue that caused me to be unable to buy a stock lost me a decent gain. I reached out to support and sent screenshots, and after a long delay they are allowing me to retroactively buy the shares at the price I was attempting. I was fairly angry through the while process, but I didn’t expect such an agreeable outcome. Thank you Public.

  6. Charts display incorrectly. Eg When you tap 3 months but you’ve had the app for only a few days. It also will show like you made $1300 in a day when it was $300. I think it’s counting a Pending Deposit as a return. They don’t have Multi-Factor Authentication. When you withdraw it just says “to bank account”, not to what exact bank account. They don’t give you proper tax forms.

  7. I tried to create an account , was very excited to try your platform. I went through the questions and set up my debit card, address etc… and 4 times in a row went through the whole thing made a 5 dollar deposit and got booted out every time and still says I have to set up the account. Have not had this problem anywhere else. It’s a big problem for you guys if new customers can’t even set up an account

The app was recomended to me. But seems useless, and support service is more useless then app. I tried to register and while uploading my photo ID, I got an error stating “Request validation failed”. Guess what, customer support can be only reached via email and you may or may not get a reply depending upon there leisure. In my case, no-reply.

  9. I have $57 locked up that I cannot withdraw, I have tried logging in through Plaid (and have been able to get logged in successfully), done microdeposits (and verified the correct amounts) and uploaded a bank statement. Each time I do this, even though the information is 100% correct, the app tells me that my bank was unable to be linked. Edit: Support was very helpful but this ordeal was way too much.

  10. It looks like it has a clean UI and decent functionality. However, I wasn’t able to experience it because I spent over a week and a half waiting for my account to verify. Eventually noticed there were some errors on the notifications page that wouldn’t go away, so I assumed there was something wrong with the app and reinstalled it so see if that made a difference. Now, whenever I try and install it, Public repeatedly crashes even when the app is closed, giving incessant error messages!

  11. I like this app, and they seem more straight forward than the previous one I used. It needs some work though. The numbers frequently don’t add up and are slow to update. The social media aspect is lame at best and to forced. The graphs look bad because they are not normalized. And customer service is slow to respond. I would like to see some improvements and will stick with it until after the current influx.

  12. I’ve reviewed several trade apps and this one is the most simple to set up and organized to go straight to what your looking for with information on trends and recent publications of the product in the news. It list pros and cons; as well as, if you should buy it, not buy it or if it is a super good deal and you’d be crazy to pass it by. The act of purchasing the stock is super easy and takes seconds.

  13. I really liked the app at first. However support for the app is not even close to ideal. A phone number would be great to contact. However I made two transfers from my bank to the app but they said it timed out. However the transfer still got charged from my account. So even now I still have no resolve after contacting customer service. I just want my money back that was unfairly charged. Update. They did end up fixing the situation thankfully. However a phone line would be great

  14. I am using the app for a while and like it. I have one comment to make it better. I invited a fried who is visually impaired. He liked the app but some important parts of the app are not accessible for people who are visually impaired. For example, the ‘Trade’ button which is the most important part of the app is not accessible using voice over. I appreciate if your team could address this issue. Thanks

  15. Been using Public for a couple months now and am overall satisfied. However, this is the second occasion, I’m experiencing a problem with the app refusing to execute on command. I typically stay logged in for convenience but when it wouldn’t load up to my portfolio I tried logging out. Loaded login screen, entered my credentials, and after a bit it will display a dialog box that says “ERROR”, nothing else. Updated app. No change. Uninstalled and reinstalled. Annnnd no change. What gives?

  16. Baron Lam dice:

I like this app but there is a horrible problem when connecting your bank which for many users might make the app unusable! When you try to connect a bank, it opens a new “window” where the process happens. If you leave the app in any way, it closes and makes you restart the process. Importantly, when you open your call or sms app to see the authentication code! You have to use your drop down menu to see the code without closing it. This is a massive oversight which MUST BE FIXED!

  17. I’m new to this app and may update my review as I learn more. So far, I like the interface, but am hoping for more features. I find it difficult to buy stocks in full shares rather than fractional shares by dollar amount. Somehow, I accidentally DID successfully buy a whole share once, but couldn’t replicate that success and just had to input dollar amounts for other orders. I also wish that there was a way to setup recurring investments/deposits for a set it and forget it approach.

  18. Had an issue with a bug that they finally fixed with this latest update, but now they’ve gotten rid of the chart that shows gain/loss since purchased, which was nice and visually helpful (don’t show me a percent). They also removed the meter on suggested buying/selling. Not as big a deal, but it was still helpful. Public, stop making unnecessary changes. The app was fine several updates ago. Pretty sure they also removed my last review, which is rad. 😑

  19. SATX Oi! dice:

Great app. I’ve used others similar and keep coming back to Public. A few things would make the experience even better. I’d like to have a more detailed timeline on stock activity throughout the day. Also it would be great if there was a way to sort your portfolio or watchlist into smaller groups. Honestly, overall the interface with Public is seamless and easy to use.You guys are doing great, keep it up!

  20. Does its job, although the whole ‘social media’ aspect seems more like a gimmick since it’s just a feed of people you don’t know, can’t interact with, or follow or copy trades. My biggest issue is that you can only buy or trade in whole dollars, because the number pad lacks a decimal point… Very inconvenient to say the least. Please fix this!

  21. It’s a very easy to use trading app. Great for people new to the market. Although I have a few gripes. The app is in someways more of a social media app than a trading app. Also, I’d like to see more notification features, like price limits that tell you when you’ve hit a goal. It would also be nice if they had a notification for when financials are listed for you holdings. All together it’s good!

  22. So far so good… we’ll see how things go over time. Update: Functionality is quick and smooth. Pages are easy to navigate. Trades are easy. Information provided on pages is useful. I like that when visiting different pages, and you return to a previously viewed page, it places you at the same location on that page as when you were last there. Developers – could you edit the app such that pressing the home button when already on the homepage results in a return to the top of page?

  23. I feel like the app itself would have been nice to use, but my here was my experience: I couldn’t add money using my debit card because the address that I just moved to is not the same as the one on my driver’s license (or debit card account? Something like that). I couldn’t add my bank because Plaid gives a very unhelpful error. When I look out up on Google, it is about going to my bank account to allow 3rd party apps. I find the option and enable it, however it still gives the error. Edit: I already settled on a different app, but that’s right… I could have tried the direct deposit option, and problems with Plaid are not your fault. I changed it from 2 to 4 stars.

  24. Latest update is better. Still some issues: – The watchlist (on the front page) % changes do not update correctly in real-time. Stocks are often even the opposite sign (+/-) as the real-time position. – The notifications badge renders on top of what you’re doing until you check them. It’s a bit annoying.

  25. Excellent UX, super easy to set up and use. Love the interaction with other users and the Public team. Share slices are a total game changer, it’s so exciting to be able to own a piece of whatever stocks I want. This makes investing so much more accessible and fun! It’s a must for anyone looking to partipcate in the stock market without the fees.

  26. Crash Lee dice:

Superb User interface. As someone who just wanted to get my toes wet with investing, this is a great way to start. It’s aesthetically appealing and easy to navigate. It’s simple, I’m not overwhelmed trying to understand how this app flows and having so many others’ posts to read and communicate with makes the whole process feel a lot less daunting. I love this set up, will be recommending.

  27. Kyle D dice:

I like this app, clean UI, easy to navigate, easy for people who are starting out. I don’t like that the charts don’t actively update, nor that we don’t get to see pre-market changes to the dollar value, you only see the percentage. And you are FORCED to post something about your transaction to the social feed, tho you can make it private.

  28. Seems like a decent way to invest but I can’t even get through the forms to set up investing. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app, cleared cache and data for the app in my settings, I’ve tried everything. It won’t let me set up my account all the way without just closing. The app is super buggy obviously. Would be happy to use it if it would actually work.

  29. Edited from 3 to 5… concerns were addressed almost immediately. Thank you! Great app, some bugs though. A little too frequently it crashes when opening from a notification. I notice it often happens with the market open and close notifications. Today I have gotten a notification every minute saying the market opens in 15 min. One at 9:15, 9:16, 9:17, etc. Besides those bugs, I love this app

  30. First best thing; they’re not robinhood. Second, they allow you to buy GME and AMC, just gives you a little warning that it’s volatile, but other than that they actually let you make your purchases and don’t hinder you. Only problem is their system, at times it freezes, either the app or browser does. it made it very hard to switch my portfolio over because it kept freezing on both mobile and desktop, but I was still able to file the request several hours later

  31. Great set of people! Had an issue with the app not loading my account and when I contacted them it didn’t take very long for them to start working on a fix! They were very courteous and responsive and displayed amazing customer service. I will definitely keep using this app for a long time knowing I’m in good hands if anything goes awry.

  32. I didn’t plan to review this but the app makes my phone vibrate whenever I touch something when it’s open. That’s just ridiculous. Remove it or add a setting to disable it. Better yet, I did get a message on the app about this but after opening it and then coming to this review to remember what the problem was it seems there’s no way to open the message again. The page it opened to was clearly different than the regular messaging.

  33. Deane TR dice:

This app is a complete failure… It can’t even link to my bank account via micro-deposits. I’ve tried 1/2 dozen times & app won’t even give you a place to click to verify your micro-deposit amounts without resetting the whole verification process and sending you a fresh set of micro-deposits which you can’t verify on the app because it won’t let you. It’s worthless and broke.

  34. That is really the worst app for trading ever!!!! You can easy deposit your money there but you can’t withdraw it back! When you push on “withdraw money” it says “we couldn’t verify your bank” and it doesn’t give you any options further. I ordered transfer to my Webull account but after almost 3 weeks they still didn’t send my money back! I would love to call customer service but they don’t have any line. I tried to message to support but nobody answers me. It is ridiculous!!!

  35. App is not good and needs major help. Help Center does not work at all. Public won’t recognize my address as “matching public records” even though it matches on my license perfectly, and as such I cannot finish setting up my account. Further, while setting up after downloading, the app would not allow me to add a picture of my license so I had to exit out of initial set-up & then add it later. Again, I can’t even use the app because it won’t recognize my address & the Help Center does NOT work.

  36. Minimal, practical, and effective. All the things I love. This is what comes to mind when I think of the grand quiet design, the phenomenal interest rate, and the speed of the transaction/transfers. I had some hiccups creating an account, but that’s when I got to see the useful and helpful aspects of the in app customer support with a real person who was able to take action to fix my ordeal. I can’t wait to see how the app improves and grows (hopefully some incentivized referral program to come)

  37. Worst experience I think I’ve ever had. Tried to use this instead of robinhood. Zero support. Zero understandable communications. Can’t answer simple questions about connecting a bank account. I understand they are dealing with huge influx of users, but I can’t imagine how difficult it can be to set up a bank transfer. I have wasted more time with this app then I will ever be able to recover. Not worth it at all.

  38. Stock graphs lack a y-axis tick marks to denote price, a basic component of any graphing application. How do you judge the value of a stock without reference to its historical long-term pricing?? This app is missing the most basic financial graphs. If you are looking for a very, very, very basic financial application for buying fractional stocks, this application might be appropriate for the most inexperienced investor. Otherwise, choose a different vendor. Perhaps Fidelity.

  39. App is great and the most user friendly to use out of them all. I wish there were alerts you could set for when you want to buy or sell instead of having to use a separate app for that. The app has started having issues loading charts I’m sure an update is coming soon to fix this because I usually don’t have any issues with the app.

  40. L. E. dice:

I am so disappointed in this app. I thought I was on my way to trading in a secure, user-friendly platform. But I still haven’t been approved after more than a more. They keep saying I need to verify info…when I click on the button, it leads me not to what I need to verify, but to a help page where I can send an automated message. I’ve sent at least two. No answer. I am now ready to delete this app and find another more suitable platform that’s glitch free.
