Great app. Easy to navigate and use. I do wish that the events included a few seconds before the motion capture. Often, a moment of the beginning of the event recording is missing. I’ve had to go-to the card feed, for extended playback, and make a clip. Great color night vision on the cameras though. At 1 in the morning, in the darkness, it’s like 4 or 5 in the evening on the cameras. Wyze cameras are worth every penny!
Works as expected. Often the day’s events take an inordinate time to appear, and a quick check leaves you thinking there’s nothing there for times of interest. You have to keep refreshing and waiting to finally see all the events listed. You never get any kind of feedback whether all the events are loaded. With this behavior, you could easily miss even knowing that captured video is present, and thus never know something happened.
I really like it but as some others have said there are lots of disconnections occurring. When it works it’s terrific though for the budget price. Not sure it can be done with a software update or not but I would love to have the option to restart devices via the app. Restarts tend to help reset those connections so being able to do it remotely would work for me.
I’m a very basic user; I use it with Wyze smart bulbs, no cameras, no rules, etc. It’s basically a remote control for my lights, which is fine. My one complaint with the app is that the on/off toggle is SO SMALL. If you tap a room that takes you to the settings for that room, when in reality the most frequent action I’m doing is turning the lights on or off. Wyze, please make the on/off toggle more prominent so that I don’t accidentally end up in settings half the time.
If it works, it’s great! The problem is, the cams spend more time offline than they do working. I have other devices, that have no issues, but my wyze cams are ALWAYS going offline. They’re updated, I’ve tried doing a full reset, deleting and reinstalling. Nothing works for longer than a few minutes then offline over and over again…. Good price, good quality if it actually works. I won’t be buying these again
Good camera, stable app. When I bought, it saved a short video when camera was motion activated- subscription required for anything more. Fine for my needs. That went away- you can view live but no recording. Lucky if you get a snapshot. User interface could be better defined & easier to navigate. Assumes a base level of knowledge some of us don’t have, ex: options for detection zones and distances but there’s no unit of measure or range. Instructions or ‘for dummies’ type tutorial needed.
It’s been hit or miss with these. Have 3 cameras installed right now. They’ve been having ahard time capturing when something either enters or leaves the area. I have the subscription that allows 5 minute recordings without pause in between intervals. It only still catches only 7 to 12 seconds at most. Most time notifications come in a minute late. Also been having alot of disconnecting problems. Have to turn them off and hope they work when I turn them on hours later. AI needs fixing.
In the past few weeks, my Wyze Cam Pan v2’s night vision has stopped working so I just get recordings of completely black screens. I can’t adjust the detection settings; I get an “operation failed” message every time. I updated the app hoping that might fix these problems, but it didn’t. I also pay for the continuous/back-to-back recordings (12+ seconds), which has worked *maybe* 5 times. Would not recommend folks get these cameras – it’s definitely not worth it.
I’ve been a Wyze user for years. However, I’m not sure what happened on the last update. The battery drain on my phone is immense. It is the #1 app for battery drain by a wide margin. If I force close the app, my battery goes back to normal usage. However, doing this makes the app kinda pointless since you can’t get any alerts. Please look into this issue for the next update. Other than that, the app is pretty solid.
Gets worse every month. I have been a Cam plus subscriber for 2 years now and I’m currently looking for a different brand to try. Can plus should play as long as there is movement. It plays maybe 10 seconds and quits. It misses lots of stuff. It catches a car driving half way up my driveway then when the car actually gets close the camera stops recording. This isn’t worth the $35 camera price let alone the subscription fee. It used to be good 2 years ago, I don’t understand why they wreckedit
The recording does not capture all events. It manages to record every light flicker, but misses to record people and cars, even on the CamPlus subscription. Difficult to install the app and connect devices if you have a new phone. Requires you to remember all the wiring configurations before and after. However, once it is all set up, is easy to use.
Removing some stars until dev provides way to stop “cam plus” pop-up (opt out). App is functional and fairly easy to use. Two possible improvements (if they already exist I can’t figure out how to use them): 1. Reposition the “video loading” status display to somewhere other than the middle of the screen, and possibly make it smaller. 2. Add the ability to adjust the playback speed when viewing recordings and event videos. Thanks
When I first purchased the cameras, they were awesome, they would take a short video clip and show you, now you have to be connected and it searches for the video, no longer showing you the preview. The feature was turned into a premium feature. this makes the cameras virtually useless if you are in the mountains and have connectivity issues, it used to download a short clip, now you have to connect. I no longer recommend to friends. When I complained about this on their FB, they banned me.
Meh. Several problems other than the cameras seem to miss stuff, like people, or it’s too late in recording and doesn’t record long enough to be useful. I have over 10 cameras and the doorbell. Mostly shadows set it off. The paid service doesn’t seem to fix these issues. You can’t edit much in landscape, many settings are buried, the doorbell can’t be added to a group, and you should be able to look at the cams recording from it’s video page
Constantly drops connection on video playback. When I’m looking through footage it keeps losing connection and I have to start over looking through. I have to back out, let the camera reload up, then go back in and try again. Data signal is great for it, and cleared my phone cache. It’s really annoying. Why have security cam when you can’t look through the video footage? It has gotten worse over time and multiple updates.
The app is useless without cameras obviously. The cameras are useless without SD cards and the subscription, which is not cheap. I am impressed with the night and low light filters. I am not impressed with the sound quality mostly and the camera resolution is pretty awful. They use mini USB to charge or for power which is old and harder to find now. After the subscription is up I won’t renew. And I’ll be moving around on to a better quality camera.
The pan cam’s motion tracking is cool. However, it’s too slow to snap motion detection photo for any practical use. You could walk by it and it will detect motion, but only be successful at snapping a photo that doesn’t show the intruder. Only if you loiter in front of it, it will take a successful photo of the intruder. The app is littered with advertisements for buying cam plus, even when you try to just review an event photo. It doesn’t take take the short video of motion most of the time.
Barely works, error 20 occurs often, requiring taps to retry connection. Why doesn’t it automatically retry? Good question. If it’s ever fixed I’ll update this review, but as of now it’s going on more than a year. Update: I had been using the grouped view, and once I switched to single view it’s been better, though the app crashed completely once. I updated my score but I’m hoping they can fix grouped view.
I used to love wyze but lately I’ve been having so many issues, such as not being able to watch my 30 second clips, the camera constantly blinking from red to blue, and not being able to view live streams which is why I am about to switch to a different company camera. The subscription is not bad for the price but I rather have stability than anything.
For the most part it’s hard to complain with the price being what it is but I am frustrated at certain things like not being able to have advanced detection when you have the alarm package which is frustrating that you get reduced functionality for paying more. On top of this you cannot download video directly from the camera you have to pull the SD card. Then at times they disconnect from the Wi-Fi even when the signal is strong. Very frustrating.
Don’t even do this product unless it’s a temporary solution. When you purchase you have full control over everything. But once the free or your current subscription runs out they will remove some custom key points in the app. For example the ability to arm/disarm from a phone or tablet. You will also loose the siren so basically what you have is a expensive door sensor box lol. If this is all you need then it’s a good system but if you need a real security system look elsewhere 😉
Not the most reliable, 1080 cannot see very good details on a criminal at the end of your driveway(v2). When the v3pro comes back in stock I’ll give a couple of them a try. Also got some weird reason I cannot rotate my screen anymore, crashes to main screen. The light bulbs are not the most reliable either, cannot connect, but they schedule pretty well. Used to be 5*s, but all the updates and features lost give you a very inconsistent experience. I own several v2s, pan cam, scale and bulbs.
Here we are a little more than a year later. Still somewhat glitchy. Occasionally shows error messages that don’t help with diagnosis. Cannot group cameras without causing worse data feed errors. Would like to be able to program Bulb Color to change colors over time with a configurable pattern. Most other functionality is somewhat stable. Wyze, you still have a way to go.
Doesn’t always pick up activities. Records a video at the driveway of a vehicle that shows no vehicle. Or there will be activity that just doesn’t pick up. Sometimes very slow to load to view in real time. Not Wi-Fi related. No other Wi-Fi issues. Goes offline like the battery is dead (outdoor cam) But the battery was just charged and had 97%. This is having several times.
When I first got my 3 cameras, I liked them better than the previous cameras I had. I even upgraded to the Plus plan and added a 4th camera. Now, I only get 3 second recordings that don’t pick up what I need them to like a car, people, or when my tree fell, but can pick up the movement of fly or a gnat (close) to the camera. Doesn’t always record continuous movement like it says. Often, when I go to look at an event, there is an error. I am looking to replace these cameras with another brand.
The system has stopped working. It might have something to do with the fact that I now have a satellite based internet connection. Whatever it is, my camera is no longer function correctly and the software does not function correctly. For example, a camera I recently put online shows up as being not connected with the software, whereas, it is connected. Another camera that I’ve had for a longer time shows up as being connected on the software, but is actually not connected.
Thermostat interface is UNSTABLE. I have 2 thermostats. They were fine for the first few months, but the last year they go offline and you have to remove their power to get them to reset. You decide if doing this once a week or so is acceptable. Cameras are pretty stable, I have 5 including a Pan. I can’t recommend the motion sensors or contacts. They worked for about 3 monta, now 2 of 3 are off line. Not sure if it’s the app or if batteries failed.
Would like to see the following features: Disable push notifications on be between certain times. Crashes on tablets when switching to landscape. An account allowed to view the camera also have permissions to configure their own events. The ability to swipe left and right between landscape cameras. More integration with google, the ability to cast multiple cameras to Chromecast at one time. The ability to see live feeds for more than one camera at one time. Dark mode!!!
And it gets worse. Just wait Terrible experience. Twice now my cam has gotten deleted from the app, thus causing me to lose the live feed. On multiple occasions, the app has stopped logging events requiring a factory reset and having to go through the whole setup process. Customer support is of no service. They have the blanket answer for every issue. This will cost you customers if you don’t shape up. I’m a CamPlus member and won’t likely renew. Your blanket responses are getting old and lame.
Wyze Plus customer here. The amount of videos that do not playback or fully capture is insane. When the time comes that I need real access a video for security or safety, I have no confidence my doorbell cam would capture it! It couldn’t be closer to my router. Update: going on 1.5yrs and still a frustrating experience. Hardware is good, but there are always technical issues when I really need it to work. Wyze Plus and I still don’t get any longer than 12sec recordings.
Overall, it’s pretty good. Some connection issues have plauged the app and cameras from day one. Was excited to get the most updated outdoor wireless cameras 5o get a more advanced system but they have connection issues as well. We have a great mesh network, yet sometimes these cameras struggle to send data and stream consistently. For the price point these are solid cameras. Just know what your signing up for at the price point.
This app does work as described. However I feel improvements could be made. When it displays the cameras it will so thumbnails from the last time it was viewed. It would be better if the app would grab a shot from each camera at the opening of the app. Even better if it would show live view of all cameras even if all they could do is a refresh rate of 1 FPS. I would like a way to view all cameras at the same time.
Impossible to reset password!!! I have “reset” more than 20 times this week, I’ve used the app and website. I get the notification my credentials have been approved and updated. But it STILL won’t let me in! I can’t even log in to stop subscription so they’ll probably steal another year’s fee from me! 100% do not recommend. Haven’t been able to access for months and 2 posts have already disappeared.
Would be great if they would stop breaking things with the updates. The latest one has caused me to not be able to get alerts for a while leaving me blind when I was out of town and now all the events are duplicated! I’d love to add cams but awful ecosystem . I wish someone would produce cameras and service that work without costing a fortune. It’s a camera…I should be able to record locally from a camera without some monitoring service.
very unhappy to find out wyze uses AMAZON web services for their cloud storage, no, for OUR cloud storage. i specifically went with a smaller co (got their very first line of cams when the co. started) to avoid amazon! it’s like u can’t get away. and this app crashes way too much. in a time sensitive situation, trying to see what’s going on outside, it won’t open, and will freeze up my phone! until a full restart. get it together please!
The app is fine, I guess. It appears in the notifications, when it detects movement and tapping on the notification will pull up the video. It’s the camera itself and the fact that it is wired into your existing doorbell wires, but won’t ring your existing chime that bothers me. I’m not really interested in paying a subscription, so it only records 12 seconds, which is about enough time for someone to walk up to the door and ring the bell, but nothing after that.
The App has gotten better including stability and features. I suspect the issues are more related to the hardware and the back-end servers. My biggest complaint is that the even video thumbnails are too small making it very hard to see what’s in the even video. There’s a lot of wasted space on the event list and I would be happier with bigger thumbnails even at the cost of fewer events displayed.
Good, but missing many requested features. The app works, but needs to add a few features that are highly requested. The thermostat tile could use more information. The wyze system in general needs a rework on device prioritization. Graphing and analysis are lacking compared to other systems. With the lack of supply in many resources you’d think wyze could focus on the software end.
Been with Wyze since the beginning. When It had promise and potential. Unfortunately it appears they tried branching out to other things way before perfecting their cameras. Too many issues with connectivity, the app, battery issues, parts, notifications and now charging for things we used to get for free. Yes, Wyze is cheap compared to other cameras – but you get what you pay for.
Feels like an alpha release. This app is absolutely terrible. Video playback skips many seconds and the response time is ridiculous. Even paying for a license does not improve things. For over 6 months, I’ve been dealing with this and although I have submitted over 6 issues to the development team, none of the issues are ever fixed. User beware. Wyze does not give proper support. Move on.
