This app is just an absolute joy to use. I’ve been using the paid version for at least 5 years and it has never failed me. It’s easy to learn, intuitive, and the available design options are great. Plus the developer is quick to respond and super helpful should some minor issue arise. I had tried at least a dozen different calendar apps because I wasn’t happy with the stock Android calendar and this one beats them all hands down. 10 thumbs up!
Complete, Accessible, Professional Calendar, scheduling and Task mgmt is 2nd only to voice calls (#1) as must have for phones. Solid UX (with config UI) and core tech is critical but not mysterious. While G & other cal apps mess up UI & add stickers and bling, aCal is a solid, reliable reminder that form must follow function. aCalender has a flexible UI & stable base, a rare gem. This is better than the dozens I’ve used, see for yourself. Easy & reliable wins over “Have a 🌝 day!” every time.
Very good, lots of features, good performance. This calendar covers all the important calendaring functions that anyone would probably ever need, even a data repair function. The settings should be made easier, though, but nevertheless, it’s a great calendar app.
This had been my go to app for years. I have to manage a fairly complicated schedule and this has always worked the best for me with it’s form and function. However, the newest version has undone all of that. While I agree the GUI needed a refreshing, some of the changes make no sense as it took away features. The day view is just bad now; overlapping events are just odd and most of the text gets cut off. You also used to be able to double tap on a day when viewing in month mode and it would take you to the day in day view, but now it brings up a pop up window that is just a cluttered mess. Same thing when you tap on an event. I’m not even sure how many years I’ve used this app as my daily driver, but unfortunately with the redesign I will no longer be using it as it’s just cumbersome now.
(updated) I read the help (what an idea!) and the recommendation to clear and re-sync calendar storage worked. repeat events now work as expected. whoo! this is a really great app, I’d be lost without it. (original) repeat events won’t save after the upgrade. I’ve been using this app for years and never had this problem in the old version.
I’ve used aCalendar for a few years. It’s always worked well, but the style was always ho-hum (especially the agenda widget). Still, I’ve tried more calendar apps than I’m proud to admit, usually in search of a more stylistically attractive app, and I always came back to this one. Well, they just did a visual overhaul and it jolted me into finally writing a review. It looks great, it works great, not sure what else you can ask for.
I like the new update. It took a bit of time to learn about the new options and configure it the way I like things. I had some additional calendars that I didn’t before, but all in all I think it is a great improvement. Task and agenda widgets are easier to read. Love the addition of the floating + to add new items. I do think swiping left and right between the different task lists was more intuitive than using the volume key so hope the swipe comes back. But I am a fan of the update. I would also like to see a place to set the default task list when adding a task to the calendar. At the moment it looks like it defaults to the first list alphabetically.
Solid, reliable, dependable app! I’ve been using the aCalendar+ app for well over one year and it’s never failed me. I was attracted to it in the first place because of the crisp, clean, clear appearance. Its clear graphics are easy to read and easy to navigate. I have never regretted upgrading from the free to the paid version. Absolutely, positively worth it! Kudos to the developer for creating this app and for staying on top of any bug issues.
Sadly I won’t be using aCalendar anymore. that mini agenda view after clicking on an appointment is just annoying and doesn’t work. I’m already looking at an agenda view, I don’t want to see another smaller one when I tap an appointment. I just want to see my appointment! Notes and all! Nothing else. UPDATE: I look every once in awhile to see if I want to go back to this app but every update removes useful features for me.
Apparently just updated and now can not create an appointment from a contact and edit anything. Cursor jumps to the beginning of the description line. Previously this has been an exceptional calendar app. I have had to revert to the free app for the time being. PLEASE FIX! Quick response from the developers that solved the issue. Back to 5 stars. This has been overall the best calendar app I have found over several years and trying out 4 or 5 different apps. THANKS!
As far as I’m concerned its exceptional! I enjoy the layout and the flexibility to tweak it anyway you want. Functions flawlessly with my Google account and the slection of features and options are exactly what I need. Unlike other apps there are no endless barrage of ads every 5 Seconds. Just bought the a calendar+ version and I’m really happy with it. Keep up the great work! Still The Best!!!!
Would love to see a way to see all snoozed events, awesome calendar otherwise. I’ve been looking for years for a calendar with a good notification and snooze system it’s important to me. I’ve had my eye on this one for a while but the snooze function seem lacking the recent updates are amazing. It’s really a nice, well thought out calendar, I highly recommend it. No more need for a seperate snooze app.
After LG removed their built in calendar app, I looked for a good month before finally settling on this one. The features are really great as related to functionality. There are tons of customization and widgets, too. I tried Google calendar, but the widgets didn’t do it for me, not transparent enough. There are almost too many options, if that’s even possible! I haven’t figured out how to use everything yet related to the display options. Worth the paid version absolutely!
Been using the + app for a few years but with the new update, my weekly widget is no longer showing the mini-view even though the box is checked. Tried deleting and re-choosing the widget to no avail. That was my favorite piece of the app. Loved being able to see a quick calendar without using a different app. If they can fix this, back to 5 stars.
I have used this app for years. Loved it so much that I paid for the premium version. Now with the update, it doesn’t work properly. I try to add an event and set it up to repeat weekly but the event just disappears! So frustrating. I’ve emailed the developers abt this and still waiting for response. As of now, I still have this app installed on my phone but I am looking for a nother app.
This is my favorite calendar app. It can schedule everything in whatever obscure reminder setting I want (every second Tuesday of the month…) and I love that I can color code everything. The only thing I would add is the ability to change the default color coding options so I can select the 12 colors that appear each time instead of having to go into “more settings” every time I want to use a new set of colors.
Repeating entries no longer work. And if I try to edit previous repeating entries, they get deleted! The app is ruined. Totally useless now. Please fix this! It’s a HUGE problem. Wish I could give it zero stars. (previous review) The latest update is awful. Just horrible. I can no longer set up repeating appointments, events, etc. It doesn’t work anymore. I can set it up but it doesn’t appear in the calendar. This function is essential! The calendar is useless without it. Why do developers insist on ruining an app for no reason? There’s no increased functionality. It’s just a crowded jumbled mess now. I wish I’d never paid for this app.
I have been using aCalendar for years and love it! It’s the most readable calendar app I’ve tried, it’s easily syncable with other calendars, and it’s full of features that help me keep my life on track. However, I’ve been disappointed by a change in notifications. I used to be able to set several notifications for an event so that I would be reminded several times over several days. Now, however, only one notification is allowed. Would it be possible to restore multiple notifications?
I like this calendar app a lot. It’s the best I’ve used. However, with the latest update, they seem to have taken away the ability to snooze an event longer than 90 minutes. I had gotten used to setting reminders a day or two ahead of time for certain events, then snoozing for 18 hours or so for a secondary reminder. The change seems to be messing with my habits.
So have loved this app for a long time and would definitely recommend. But version 2 has problems inviting other people to appointments and this is primarily why I bought the paid version as did my spouse. It has quick bubbles but that doesn’t work. I type her name and it comes up with her picture twice (duplicate) and picking that doesn’t work (she never gets the notice). I finally used the contact picker, scrolled to her and picked her and now it worked. She’s listed on the appt twice with the same email address. And this is the slowest possible way to do this and I do it for nearly every appt. Thank you for a terrific app but PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE fix this!
I would rate this higher if I could. I deleted the app from my phone accidentally. I was playing with the animation settings that is turning them off to speed up my phone and the app disappeared don’t know if it was from that or something else. Anyway went back to the store installed it again and everything is back to normal all my data is there. Biggest feature is the fact that the daytime day starts at 6 a.m. unlike other calendars that don’t allow you to control your business hour settings.
Update on earlier review: I still think it’s the best calendar app that I have run across. I reduced it by one star because of the changes in the task UI of version 2. That is more cumbersome now, I really like being able to swipe back and forth to go from task list to task list. Every other tasks app did the other approach that’s what made aCalendar+ better in my opinion. I tried to others tasks apps but they were all harder to use and lack the capabilities of aCalendar+. I felt This app had some real creativity in the design and it seemed ver. 2 was an attempt to try to conform to some “standard”. I like the originality that was shown in version 1 better. I agree with other users In their comments about the task you I. In my earlier review I said: “Best calendar app that I have seen in all my years of working with cell phone calendaring applications and those preceding cell phones like earlier electronic handheld devices.”
I have used this for years. It was the best app on my smartphone, and by far the best calendar app out there. However, it somehow updated itself this week on both my phone and my son’s (despite both of us keeping auto updates turned off at all times). I despise the new interface, and it reset all my view settings and colors. The new interface is ugly, hard to read, and might as well be just another Google app. I plan to try to restore the old version from the APK on my previous phone.
Best Calendar App EVER! I’ve gone through so many calendar apps, I lost count. Finally, I came across this one and LOVE IT!! Has all the features I could ever want and more. Compatible with Samsung “Smart Pop-Up View”. More important… Everything transferred over seemlessly from Google Calendar to aCalendar. So I paid for aCalender+. Worth every cent & more.
It’s getting worse. Why did the app update itself? The new layout is confusing. This new version looks messy. People who like it don’t know how good the old version was. The birthday events on the monthly calendar used to fit on 1 line with the number of years, now they are displayed on 2 lines. If you have several events the same day, it’s very difficult to read, the colors are less sharp. HORRIBLE user interface, useless update. Why do you spend time to break your app?
The latest update makes this the best app for Google Tasks. One of the few that supports multi level subtasks (most are limited to 1 level) and user input is quite intuitive and straight forward. Nice widgets too. The only reason it doesn’t get 5 stars is that there doesn’t appear to be any background syncing. If you update Google Tasks from your computer you have to manually sync this app.
Been using this app for years from version 1. Great and useful app. However, would like the developer to give 1 option, which is “show ONLY on start day if the event is less than 24H” I am on shift duty and very often to have cross day event. Everytime the event shows a “~” to the next day and It’s been very annoying and confusing. This is a deal breaker for me and I am looking to move on if the option is unavailable Developer, can you at least give an option for the user to choose? Please
I have been using aCalendar+ for years now, it is the first thing I set up on every device I own. I have to say, all the people complaining about the redesign are just your typical fear of change types. The user experience really hasn’t changed much and it looks so much more pleasing to the eye now. Tapir Apps did a great job on it, in my opinion. I just wish all developers did such good work.
I’ve used this calendar app for years and loved it! Still do! However, one feature that I used consistently seems to have been removed with the recent update…In my overdue task list, I used to be able to click an item and immediately change the due date. I don’t seem to be able to do that now. If I click an overdue task, it only checks it off as if it’s been completed. Can this be fixed? Am I doing it wrong?
The new update is TERRIBLE!! I HATE IT! I loved the way it was set up prior. It constantly shuts down. There are tasks and lists that appear from months ago that have been deleted months ago. When I tried to delete them the undo automatically and reappear. Please reconsider fixing and updating again. Or ideally changing it back.
This is the one calendar app, or app in general, I’ve been more than willing to pay for because it is THE BEST calendar hands-down on any platform (even though it’s only on Android). It’s super speedy/responsive and updates keep rolling in to keep it fresh. Thank you developers. I’ve come to rely on it, I just can’t use anything else.
Overall a decent app, but a MAJOR issue is when an event/ appointment is created from Gmail via Google Calendar, the Comments/ Notes part of the event is filled up by text i don’t care for. If i try to change it and add my own notes, then save, aCalendar overrides them and reverts back to the text from Google Calendar!!! It also randomly stopped reminding me about birthdays and other events (not appointments), and randomly switched calendars displayed.
had this for a couple of years and now it’s even better! I love the drop and drag function. I do tons of repeated events to structure my days and I can move all the pieces around like a puzzle to make my day fit together with some balance. used to have to go onto my desktop to do the drop and drag on my Google Calendar.
Do not install the recent updates: Unable to enter repeating events (for example: every 2 days, 3 wks, monthly/every # months, etc.) since January 2019 update. Tried to update a repeating event I’ve had since 2017, then it disappeared. I tried to re-enter the event, but this app will not save it or restore it. It actually deleted my events. I am extremely unhappy and dissatisfied with the recently updated aCalendar+ and I do not recommend it at all until the latest bugs are fixed.
The recent “upgrade” has rendered my to do list useless. I’ve been messing with it for two days and so far have found no improvements, only “let’s change stuff!” I’m not spending any more time trying to figure out where the settings I’m looking for might be. Gone.
Just saw that I bought the original Acalendar+ a very long time ago, think it was a $1 because I just saw my review for the 2nd version dated in 2015. Best calendar ever, id be lost without you. My brain doesn’t always remember stuff andvlose stuff often but you are always there to help. Auto updates with Google calendar, friends and family dont need this app to synch with their Google calendar is probably the best feature. I prefer monthly view and can still read it clearly. I recommend all!
review updated to address the devs comments. V1 workerd well. When they came out with V2 they forgot to restore the contents of “My Calendar” during the upgrade. this resulted in complete loss of appts saved in the aCal “My Calendar” section. I could not restore to V2 from my backup and had to revert to V1 to restore events. It appears they forgot to check for the “My Calendar” tag. I sent an XML file and pointed it out.
Absolutely *excellent* app — the best out there! After having to give up on the longtime use of the Jorte calendar app (11 yeats!) due to requurements to load all schedule info to a cloud, I found aCalendar+ with not only insanly more features but allows you to keep ALL your schedule info JUST on the phone: no requirement to upload/back-up/whatever to some cloud somewhere. Well worth using for many years to come!
Will I like this app. The pay twice thing must have had something to do with putting a very old phone back online. I have tried a bunch of Calendar apps. Google makes a fair one but this one is excellent. I.E. the best of the bunch. Only one thing I would love is the ability to set different notifications for different events. Thinking that the Android OS prevents this. For a long time I used Calendar Event Reminder. For an appointment I had it come up full page, persistent, and with a unique notification sound. Because of those reminders I never missed an appointment. A simple notification sound is not enough. It could be some minor thing I would look at later. This is the only thing I wish aCalendar had in addition to it’s functionality now.
This app is great but it often doesn’t sync with my Google account – I have to open the Google calendar on my phone, and then it will sync. Is there some setting that I’ve missed? – permissions are set to Calndar and Contacts. This is an intermittent problem but I’m never sure that my data syncs.
