This app is excellent for quickly finding space objects in your location. I love the fact that it’s fairly accurate in finding things like the green commet, planets, stars, and some galaxies in our local cluster. The app is pretty easy to use with an intuitive interface to quickly navigate menus settings. They also thought to put in night mode (red) to protect your night vision. My only complaint is that every update, they request a review. I know this can be skipped but it’s annoying.
This app is absolutely amazing. Pick any one of thousands of objects in the sky (I think everything is covered including all man made satellites) and go forwards or backwards in time at any speed you want and watch everything else in the sky fly around the object you selected as viewed from your location on Earth. There is zero lag on my phone when traveling through time at any time scale speed. This app is impossible. I don’t know how they did it.
As a lover of stars and beginner in astrophotography, a friend recommended this app and it has changed how I can look at the sky. I love this app. I only get annoyed with the one type of default overlay; what the constellation represents as an object or person etc. The good news is I can remove it! The ability for it to locate via compass is time saving and makes things easier for me as a beginner. It can pinpoint the horizon which is also extremely helpful. Worth every penny!
As a constant stargazer, this app has been an amazing tool in helping me navigate the cosmos. It affords you the ability to find out which constellations are nearby, which planets are within those constellations, all with a streamlined presentation. One of my favorite features is the photo feature that allows you to take a picture of your surroundings, while pointing out and drawing on the constellation lines. This is definitely a fun and useful app!
I love this app. The graphics are amazing and there’s tons of info. The ONLY thing I don’t like about the app is that when you set a time and date to look at different dates’ skies, the slider used to adjust is WAY too touchy. Most other sky apps use an input system where you just type the date and time. With this slider on Star Walk 2, you spend more than twice as much time just trying to get the slider to stop on the correct one without flying past it. It’s very very annoying.
This app is one of the best I’ve tried when it comes to how it works and with it’s info. I’ve used both this and the free version for a couple of years now. I’d give it 5 star if I could regain my purchase to the fullest but no. This one and the free version won’t extract the extended solar system and when I’ve spoken to the developer I get the run around. It’s not an uninstall and install or soft reset or factory reset of phone. Or storage issues! It’s not a SIM card or SD card either. So help?
This application is wonderful, in many ways. It’s simply gorgeous. But I’ve noticed there are a few things that could make it way better. You could add more features for the spectrum. Veiwng planets , galaxies, and the like in infrared, or gamma. Also, it would be cool to see voyager 1 and 2!. Also, quasars, black holes, and exoplanets! I’ve purchased the full version of this app and I love it, I just noticed those few things. Hats off. I’ll give you a Constellation, of 5 shining stars. 🌟
It’s a pretty good app. I paid for the ad-free version. But I don’t see any options to disable *very* frequent notifications about random astronomical events. And I don’t believe in cannot be made to believe that that’s an android OS problem. I have plenty of apps on my phone that push certain catagories of notifications but not others.
I downloaded starwalk 2 free, then paid about $6.96 for all the extra extensions. I couldn’t access them, so I went ahead and paid for the starwalk 2 full app, logged back into that and now it’s telling me I have to pay for the bundle again. I was supposed to have been sent some redeem codes, but I never got those. Can’t recommend this app at all right now. Maybe if the developers fix this problem, then I will be able to recommend it. *tried to get a refund for $3.00 and was denied.
Im using this app with a Samsung S9. It has some nice improvements from the first version. However the tracking of celestial objects needs some improvement. I’m limited on left to right calibration only. Once I matched up the moon, it doesn’t stay matched up as I turn around. Star Walk on the iPad2 did a great job of tracking.
I downloaded the free version. really like it and then upgraded to the full version. There are so many features and notifications mean I am seeing so many more objects in the sky. A must for anyone who wants to know more and see many celestial objects. there is a learning curve to utilize everything this app has to offer. So take a cew minutes to acquaint yourself after you download.
I r really enjoy this app. I started with the free version first and loved it, then decided to switch to this one since I do have the play pass subscription and now have a new device with GPS. Even if I had to put up with ads it would still be worth it! Anyone that wants to know what is in the sky above this app shows you. Very educational, and informative. Tells you what and when things will happen like moon phases, comets, satellites, constellations.. the list goes on. Rate it above 5*
Dont forget to uninstall the free version(Android) if you had that app prior to the paid version. I had both the free and paid version and continued receiving notifications from both. Everytime I would open a notification it would take me to the free version with ads. Super annoying, until I uninstalled the Sky Walk 2 Free version. For some reason I thought it was the year 2021 and the app developers had this figured out.
A great app that really helps identify objects in the night sky! I like everything about it except the date/time selection tool. It is much too sensitive to the touch and can be a major pain when trying to “rolling” the numbers to your desired date and time. A little less sensitive would be nice.
It’s OK. Coming from Sky Guide this app has way less deep sky objects but it’s still pretty good. For some reason you can’t select or search for the (Large Magellanic Cloud) which is very strange as you can search for the Small Magellanic Cloud. Also a lot of the deep sky objects are poorly pasted into the app. Please make it look like it’s actually supposed to be there instead of taking a screenshot and pasting into the app. (That Small Magellanic Cloud picture is horrible. Please use a better one) Last thing, I hate how when you zoom into a deep sky object and when you unselect it the whole object the whole thing magically disappears. Why? This app is only good if you want quick information on it. Don’t expect to spend more then 10 minutes on it. Adrian
This is a very good application, I have no problems locating any planet at any time of day in the sky. I track the Sun and Moon for celetial photography with perfect accuracy. It’s actually amazing how accurate this application is setup. I can spend the next few hours writing about the things I do with this application; so I just end with this… It is the perfect app for celestion observation. Hit the install button!!!
This is one of my favorite apps of all time. It is a great way to learn about the constellations and pretty much anything that is visible in the night sky. I also really appreciate the notifications about upcoming events of interest like meteor showers etc. My only complaints are: – the compass is not aligned well – constant payments for everything, even once purchasing the app (I ended up paying for everything though and now it doesn’t bother me lol)
Really cool app that does not accurately track location & direction. I have calibrated it tons of times and it is still a good bit off from where the stars and planets actually are, which kind of defeats the purpose… UPDATE: They updated the app and the tracking is much, much better. Still not perfect, but the fact that the devs are nice enough to respond to my issue and help with an update make we give them 5 stars regardless. Thanks for the customer service.
This is beautiful, and fairly straightforward to use. The options available make it easy to customize to your own personal taste (and eyesight). On a large screen this would be amazing. I wish there was a way to track some of the artificial satellites – obviously not all 50,000 of them, but the ISS, or Vanguard 1, just for the history. Track the larger ones heading back?
The pop ups for corner hot spots are a reason to delete the app. How many times do I need to be told the camera is AR or the spy glass is for searching. ONCE is enough. No option if could find to turn them off. Too bad I paid for that. Switch to the paid version of Stellarium app! Way better and no nagging pop-ups. Update: as per the developer the pops should go away after first use. I did! And they still appeared. So…..
Just so annoying. All i need i an app that when i point it at the sky, i know what i’m looking at. This tries to sell you packages. The sky doesn’t line up, and every time you try and fix it, up pops another message, or the sky starts to drift. Trying to navigate around the sky is obtuse and nonsensical. I gave up looking for the comet, as this app made it so frustrating Go elsewhere, find a picture map, and compare the sky that way. Trying to be too clever like Starwalk, just gets in the way
Paid to download then it’s asking me to pay the same amount to unlock it. Not sure if it’s intentional or a bug. Not a good experience. Refunded for now, will check it out later if can’t find an alternative
Way too flashy constellation representations. Don’t need a neon sign, with graphics that partially block the star view. Just connect the dots please. Same with planets. Don’t need big orb art.
Amazing app! If you love looking at the night sky this is one of the best apps I’ve used to help identify what is what, AND get info on it without leaving the app! I’m from a more rural area, so living in the urban area makes it difficult to truly appreciate the vast expense that is our solar system alone. This makes me feel back at home looking into the night sky like I was a kid again! Love it and highly recommend getting it!!
5 stars! I’ve had this app for more than a few years, all the way back to the original app. This app has not let me down, it’s authentic and accurate. The artistry in the app is very calming too; the music and the water effects on the home screen but you in such an enlightened mood, ready for exploration at night! Thank you for creating such a beautiful app😊
This is one of the most amazing apps a stargazer will ever find. It is very informative, it is well-spoken and thoroughly explanatory. I’ve encountered no bugs, no crashes, and nothing like that. I’d give this app a number 11 on a scale of 1-10.
This app is so good. I love how anywhere you point your phone it shows exactly what stars, constellations, galaxies, planets, satellites etc are right in that view. And you can also fast forward or go backwards and check to see when the moon will be right outside your window brightly shining or which stars are brightest . I check it to prove my point of what is not a star or any other cluster of ∆ shaped objects. My date crosschecked with their date. Amazing
This is the most detailed astronomy app I have ever used. Stars, planets, asteroids, click on an object and it provides in depth information. Highly recommended!!
I’ve never ever seen a tremendous app like this one. But, it only needs one thing which is the simulation of FoV of cameras and lenses to help us compose our images!
When I use the app it doesn’t show the sky when I point camera at it and that what I want, so the app is pretty useless, supposedly because my phone doesn’t have a compass which wasn’t explained when I bought the App and for that I should get a refund and the app review should be a ‘0’ not 1
This app is incredibly useful. The graphics are absolutely beautiful. Love this and would recommend it to ANYONE who likes to stargaze!
Not bad. Not great. Overall functionality is acceptable, takes a lot of tweaking to make it good. It doesn’t track motional as clearly as other apps I’ve used in the past. Worst of all I continue to get notifications even after turning them all off. Maybe work on it a bit, guys
When you purchase the whole “add-on” package which is around 800 mb, all the add-ons are installed without possibility of uninstalling the ones you don’t need. So the whole star walk app eats 1 gb of your storage. You think the workaround is to reinstall the app to save space. But you are wrong. As soon as you install star walk again, it downloads your already purchased add-ons of 800mb! Please let the users uninstall/remove those add-ons they don’t need and keep the others.
Great App. Maybe the visual design can be updated and more modern. The one issue is the app icon in notification bar looks almost identical to my Hotspot icon on my Pixel 6 Pro. Update: I’m talking specifically about the notification icon in the notification bar.
Awesome. Just awesome. One of the very few apps I PAID for after downloading the free version. Now I wander around at night bumping into things while looking from the sky to my phone and I couldn’t be happier. Super cool stuff going on up there.
Interesting. News is nice, AR is nice. For low price app is very good. It has extra packet to buy thow.
Good app but after paying for the app you then have to pay for further add-ins to search for items.
Amazing! I’m a beginner with this but this app is easy to navigate and there’s so much helpful info & direction so you can’t go wrong! Definitely recommend 👍👍.
Really great app! Easy to navigate and full of extra information including mythological tales connected to individual constellations. One thing I’m missing is an option to switch the names of objects (mostly constellations) into another language or ideally to show both – the current name and the name in preferred language. Could you please add this feature? I can help you with Slovak and Czech names. Thanks!
I love this app, it’s so rich in detail, the graphics are just beautiful, easy to use with everything pretty much explaining itself. I did get the whole package, all the add-ons for €3 or so when I initially downloaded it so not sure what you’re not getting if you don’t do that. Overall, if you have a relatively recent phone this is the best star map yet and I’ve had one or two. 10/10. Brilliant.
