I have been a seller on Mercari for over 2 yrs now. When I started the online store, listing an item was so easy and convenient. Now, I can’t believe how slow the app is! You can only select 1-2 photos at a time and even then I get kicked out and have to start over about 75% of the time. Each listing is time consuming enough; please ppl fix the bugs! The new update, w/ the mark down flags (ex: 25% OFF) which are showing w/ ea listing is now covering 3/4 of the photo! I hate this! TY
Shipping costs are really high which drives away sales, also Mecari takes out over $3 on each sale. It takes ages to get paid, and if you want paid faster they will charge you $2. Ive also had to block users due to being bullied into lowering prices. Good part about the app is its easy to use and communicate with buyers/sellers and I have no problems posting items. I have yet to have a problem shipping or buying items, and so far all of my sales have gone smoothly with no complications.
I am done with Mercari until further notice. As a seller, the amount of inconveniences keep piling up, and it’s not worth it any more when there are comparable platforms. I have had 2 items lost in the post recently, one buyer was solely responsible for me getting a payout, and one I was denied a refund. I have had orders cancelled for outlandish reasons and get nickel and dimed paying for shipping costs. I can’t put up with the lack of customer service and greed, fix it.
Was once almost usable, but in the last month it is nonstop bugs. Goes days and weeks without offers or notifications working, then they suddenly do. By altering the layout of searches, such as by lowest price, finds half the results left out entirely. Two years ago it was perfect. Now fees are exhorbitant and there’s still no way to do partial refunds. UPDATE: now the app will not load my messages at all, and if you go to the Mercari site, it tells you to download the app to access messages.
The app used to be pretty good. I loved being able to have photos of my opks to refer back to. Now, the camera NEVER works. I’ve been trying for months but I can not get a single picture anymore. There is no way to focus the camera so you are left to guess a manual input and no longer have a true image to look back at to compare.
Even after the “revamp” the app still is riddled with bugs and annoyances. Newly added vacation mode straight up doesn’t work. Set vacation and received the confirmation email and an item sold a few hours later. Support told me tough luck because they checked with the “engineers” and they said it was working fine. Still no dark mode. Still no way to bulk update listings without first scrolling through the entire list (extremely tedious) then selecting all. Been years and it’s still a bad app.
So far I’m annoyed. A billion likes but no buyers. I see the same items that apparently sold in the past for greater price than the one I post. I repost and still the same. A bunch of likes, tons of views and yet no sales. It’s pretty pointless to keep lowering the price to the point of no profit. It gets a two because it’s easy for me to upload photos. That’s about it. Hopefully something gives soon.
There’s no easy way in the app to just look at my orders, I have to go find them in my messages, which is really weird. It has a very small limit to the number of search results it shows, which is obvious if you sort by price. I also keep getting sms notifications despite them being turned off, and repeatedly texting ‘STOP’ to unsubscribe. Feels unprofessional/sloppy compared to eBay. Only plus is that people sell stuff cheaper here.
I’ve used this app for over a year now and I do have to say I’ve sold and bought on the site with some of the other sellers prices being kinda high but you can find some good deals every now and then. With that said the customer support is awesome! I’ve had a few items I’ve needed to return one the seller was less than helpful. Customer service solved each issue fast and always had my back. As a seller they’ve had my back too. All and all it’s a good site. If something goes wrong msg support lol
As a seller for going on 2 years now, the lastest update was actually a DOWNGRADE from what this app used to be. Using your own photos is a nightmare because of the editing. It used to be simple but now some photos are automatically cut off and cropping is impossible. Choosing and clicking on the photos you want to use takes forever to load and the app is just SUPER SLOW. Nothing was improved, who asked for this?!
The app is a nuisance when it comes to writing down the information to list. Leaving the tab for a second wipes all the information clean and I have to start all over again. Sometimes when looking for some useful information, it automatically auto-corrects into something completely different or removes everything all together.
Haven’t been using it long but, so far, so good. Simple platform to use, very user-friendly, and the fees for sellers are lower than most. It’s an overall decent app with plenty of buyer/seller traffic. However, there should be more options for selling in bulk, especially if you have smaller, lower priced items such as sports cards. Shouldn’t have to make multiple listings for one item. Also, there should be more options for buyers to make bulk purchases and consolidate shipping costs.
Still a bit confusing to use. No way to combine shipping after ordering and no invoice request option like ebay. I like that it offer random discounts, but why is it giving me discounts on things I don’t like. I only clicked on them to see if I could sell one I have, it’s a lot of junk emails and messages. Finally, support closes your request too fast. I hate contacting strangers as ot makes me very nervous, I just need more time. Also the ads to sell on the site are annoying and every day!
The latest update is super slow and so far I’m Not happy at all! I hate the new photo editor with a passion!!! I tried to rotate a photo but it forces you to resize and cuts off your images! In order to work around the photo editing issue, I now edit and crop my photos before I upload them to a post. However, when I save drafts and edit to add photos later, the whole draft changes! You lose your titles and even the shipping changes! Takes forever to post! Photos just sit there and spin too!
I’ve been using this app for a couple years to buy and sell items. Usually it’s very user friendly until an update comes along and things get moved around. Seems that the recent update changed something with updating images, it’s very frustrating. I typically take my pictures first then go into the app to list items. I tried to do that today and everything is cropped so I can’t use all the pictures I spent time taking, I’d have to go back and take them all through the app 1 listing at a time.
I have been using this app for 3 years now and I’ve never had so many issues. The update is horrible and needs to be fixed. I can’t see other profile pictures of listed items. Only the price and a blank box. I can’t edit pictures properly when listing. Listing an item is super slow. Inbox, notifications, profile very hard to navigate now. This is my primary selling platform and I am not happy. I hope it gets fixed soon.
Edited on 6/5/22 (I can now no longer list or even save drafts! Any idea when this issue will be fixed?????) I have been selling for close to a year with no real problems but this last week, with these new changes, listing has become VERY challenging. I have to save as draft multiple times for each listing when try to enter the brand name, it freezes. Also when I turn off the automatic price drop, I just can’t do anything because it freezes.
The app has become awful since the last update in early May! It is now slow and keeps crashing! I used to love how quick and effortlessly I was able to post an item. What used to take 3 minutes to post is now taking me 30-45 minutes to post!! I used to be able to upload 12 pictures at once but now if I try to upload more than one at a time the app crashes. I can’t save as a draft, it keeps saying internal server error and doesn’t save anything. PLEASE FIX THE APP!!!
Idk what happened but now I’m not able to see my albums when I’m trying to upload photos. The update didn’t work either.. making it really difficult to add my listings right now. This needs to be taken care of, please. Once the bugs get worked out I’ll reassess my review. Before this issue, the app worked pretty well. A suggestion. When uploading photos from the app, you should be able to alphabetize the albums instead of them being all mixed up. It’s frustrating.
This is a great app. However, I just recently sold an item, miscalculated ship weight, but order doesn’t show the ship charge. I lost money unnecessarily, trying to fix the issue, thinking I under charged only to find that it was the same price for the weight difference. Help from CS was not clear. I have several listings and can’t remember every ship charge. There needs to be a way to enter the original listing to double check information. Or a line item that shows shipping charged to buyer.
Newest update is a mixed bag. It’s extremely slow to refresh. A message that was sent 2 hours ago I just finally responded to a little bit ago even tho I would have seen it almost immediately had the app refreshed when I re-opened it. I was having difficulty navigating the app when it first updated. I’ve gotten used to it. Search results can now be filtered which is helpful. Messages can be deleted, at last. I’ve dealt with a few sellers who I’d rather.. not have.
Usually this app works well for me — I’ve been using it since 2018. But the latest update has made the app almost entirely unusable on my phone. If I want to do anything on Mercari I have to use my computer. On my phone I have to click about 10 times to go to a page, and a lot of pictures won’t load, even after I clear the cache. It’s very frustrating, and really hard to do business. I’m also struggling to see messages people send me because it’s so hard to click on them.
Nervous to order from this website at first. However, I attempted to buy a video card with my PayPal account and everything went through fine to start with and then I received a bunch of emails telling me my order was rejected and my newly made account was limited and therefore unable to be used. I wasn’t sure if I was going to get scammed on this website or not, but with the amount of hoops that I had to jump through to get my account verified, I’m willing to give it another chance. 24hr fix.
when I first started using Mercari I really liked it, but I didn’t like the latest update to the camera. then, with this overall recent update, there are quite a few things I dislike! I hate that the listings from the seller’s view are all in a single vertical list. I prefer the 2×2 layout. I also hate that when you transfer your $ balance it takes you out of the app… and I hate the new ring tone you get when you sell something! bring back the *CHA-CHING* sound!
I have been selling on Mercari for a few years now and while I love the look of the new update I’m having some issues with it. Occasionally when dropping the price to promote a listing it makes a duplicate of that item. Also since the update it takes so long to list an item. The pictures take extremely long to load. I’m having a few other issues but there’s no way to actually contact you guys or report a problem.
I’d do a lot more late night shopping of there was a dark mode. Also, emails don’t open the app and there’s no way to copy and paste from a browser into the app so I end up doing a lot of extra clicking. It’d be nice to set a default view for searches, like I’d love it if all my searches automatically only showed items for sale. Would also be nice to be able to check out on only select items but leave others in the cart.
A decent app to sell on. The high fees is more an issue (Selling fees, processing fees, depositing fees). Processing and depositing should be included in the selling fees. As a buyer, it’s a great app. As a seller, I rate it low. Items can be there for a long time & mercari pushing to give low deals for a lot of items that shouldn’t be so low
I recently wrote a review, detailing that there was an issue interfacing between Gboard voice to text and this app. The problem seems to only occur in the item description field. I had high hopes that this would be resolved with a major update that was done today. Unfortunately, it does not seem to have been resolved. You guys really need to look into this. It’s the biggest field to type in, voice to text is a MUST!! And now when you hit sell another item, it does not bring you to a new listing
I hate the new update! I have to refresh the page just to see new messages, new items in saved searches, etc. I don’t get any push notifications of new items from my saved searches or sellers I follow. So I am constantly missing out of buying things. Very frustrating. Also they need to let the buyer choose which shipping to use. I’m tired of seeing an 8oz item with $13 shipping. I refuse to purchase items like that. I’ve been buying more on ebay lately. Maybe I should start selling on eBay too.
What in the heck happened to this app??? Photo cropping is ridiculous if you don’t take your pictures using app they are cut off and no way to fix it. This use to be the easiest and best app to list stuff quickly and easily directly from your phone. I like me buyer to see the whole item not just a quarter of it. Why change it if you couldn’t improve. Please go back to the old way of cropping entire photo. Doubt I’ll list very much with this new app. It’s to time consuming and frustrating.
Glitchy when listing items for sale. While typing, it doubles my words and leaves out letters and spaces. For example, the word “example” will show up as “examexample” or “exmpexample” or “examplenumberthree”. This does not occur when I type in any other app. Editing pictures is a real pain. If I simply want to rotate the picture, it forces cropping, which I have to go back and undo. Cropping is also difficult because it keeps trying to recenter the picture automatically.
I have been selling with Mercari for years, but recently (like previous reviews) I am also getting very frustrated when I try to list a new item! When I am writing or making changes to my description, the screen freezes and will not allow me to scroll up or down! When I enter a price my whole phone vibrates! Then the app completely stops once I’m in the “Enable Smart Pricing” screen. I have to always save my listing as a draft, then reopen it in order to finally list it! BIG HEADACHE! -Rebecca
This latest update is absolutely terrible. I’ve never had so many issues with this app before. It constantly freezes every so often when I’m listing stuff. When I’m typing descriptions for products it will delete words and do weird things. Takes me so much longer than normal to list items. I hope these issues are resolved soon!
Bugs and performance has NOT improved. The update made everything similar to the apple user interface making things completely backwards. It never asked to have access to my files to edit photos, now with the update it needs Access. The camera feature has not improved only changed to a format that auto adjusts without allowing you to focus on a detailed spot. After all the updates it will skip letters and choose different words and the algorithm continues to favor only certain sellers. So sad.
Latest update has ruined this app (for the time being) It lags, freezes, won’t let me upload certain photos, freezes up in the middle of making a post and writing messages forcing you to either start over or give up on trying all together. Used to be a great app. Not sure what happened. Please fix as soon as possible.
Love the concept but the app keeps glitching. As a seller: I have edited and saved my profile photo and description 4+ times and each time it dissappears. Now when I go into edit profile to attempt again, it gives me a white screen that never loads. I have also verified my phone number 3 times and it instantly tells me I need to verify my phone number. As a buyer: when I go into sizes to choose the sizes I’d like to see all of the sizes and styles are out of order. Need an option to save sizes.
The most recent update ruined the app. So many issues now, wth happened! This app continues to suck even more after recent updates. Issues with listing, editing listings, when saving drafts it deletes title, also makes changes to shipping details when saving a draft. Issues with moving pictures around when making a new listing or editing. Brand name changes as well for some reason after saving a draft. Too many issues to list here. 👎👎👎👎👎
The app is great. Joined in 2017, made over $5,000 since than. The app recently had a major update that made the app run not like it was made by a highschool programmer student. The creators are getting very greedy though. When I first started, there was only the selling fee, now there is a processing fee, a bank transfer fee … I hope this is the last of the fees Mercari, if not unfortunately I’ll have to be parting ways. Other than that. Excellent app !
Bad: I’ve had more problems with purchases here than eBay. And for not much less cost in general. Update: Denied refund after item was lost-in-transit…then finally moved after 10 days of sitting in a UPS store. Problems like buying an expensive Apple computer from which the seller likely uninstalled the OS, making it a paperweight. Problems like a seller going back on their word to give me a refund. Having to remind another seller to ship my item.
Recent updates have ruined the app it has soooo many errors, is slow as heck, deletes your title multiple times while trying to list, freezes while working on uploading images, getting from page to page takes soooooo much time it is ridiculous. Really disappointed after having no issues for so many years. I can barely use it now. Your help center is useless no one speaks enough English to even understand the messages let alone ve helpful and your hew photo editor is a useless joke!!
