You don’t need a match maker, dating services and you don’t need to swipe all day because BlackGentry provides a meld of single Black men and single Black women with different interests. The interest field lets you put in hashtags that show your interests such as black professionals, BLM, melanin, blk love, black travel, black entrepreneurs & black fitness so you can see who has similar interests.
Very abysmal experience all around. For long periods, the app is /was unusable, either the backend wasn’t working or something. Most of the profiles I came across are just useless or not worth responding too. There should be a requirement to at least fill out a plethora of info, rather than just barely anything. Against my better judgement, paid for the Deluxe, and as I half expected, was a waste of time. Would have a better chance of kissing Big Foot, than interacting with anyone on this app.
I’d prefer unlimited location range (500 miles isn’t enough), and the app demands permission to your location to work (can’t just enter it in). Also won’t let you edit name after initial creation, so that’s not at all safe (and minus the tactless app developers trying to call me a liar in their previous response, most dating apps will let you, or will allow such once you contact customer service. I know this because I’ve done it on multiple competitor apps recently.)
This app has brought me more success and better conversations than tinder and bumble. If you’re looking for a real relationship I think this is one of the best choices for dating apps. It’s well thought out and let’s you choose from a good choice of prompted questions and examples of answers for your profile. It makes it easier to start a conversation by giving you the ability to like a specific picture or detail about a persons profile.
Maybe I’m lucky but I met someone on my second day on the app. Fingers crossed. I wish the distance filter can be increased by more than 100 miles. Since I search other states. Great concept so far. It’s good to have an app for black professionals. I like that they verify profiles so I didn’t run into any scammers.
