Kodi® media center is an award-winning free and open source cross-platform software media player and entertainment hub for digital media for HTPCs (Home theater PCs). It uses a 10-foot user interface designed to be a media player for the living-room, using a remote control as the primary input device. Its graphical user interface (GUI) allows the user to easily browse and view videos, photos, podcasts, and music from a harddrive, optical disc, local network, and the internet using only a few buttons.

IMPORTANT:
The official Kodi version does not contain any content what so ever. This means that you should provide your own content from a local or remote storage location, DVD, Blu-Ray or any other media carrier that you own. Additionally Kodi allows you to install third-party plugins that may provide access to content that is freely available on the official content provider website. Any other means of watching illegal content which would otherwise be paid for is not endorsed or approved by Team Kodi.

Estuary is the new standard skin and is designed to be fast and user friendly.
With the skin Estouchy, Kodi has now been enhanced to better work with larger 5″ or up phones and tablets. Kodi is not designed or recommended for use with smaller phones.

  1. I’ve been using Kodi for 7yrs now. There’s a bit of a learning curve when you 1st set it up. It seems like a daunting task but it really is simple. Reading a set up guide is easy enough for beginners you don’t need to watch dozens of videos to figure it out. There’s nothing better. I have a plex media server and 3 other streaming services that I don’t use. It works perfectly on my PCs and shield tv however no longer works on my ZFold Goes straight to black screen. Hopefully there’s a patch soon

  2. Worked ok with earlier versions but the latest is terrible. These comments are about how this works going over to an older “smart” TV. It can’t seem to find anything on my tablet even though I tell it right where to find it. I cannot get it to show photos at all as the interface doesn’t give you the choice just video and music and music has never worked. Even though I set it to “play next video automatically” it just goes back to the directory which takes about two minutes to reload. out of room

  3. Over all I think the app is good. Like the add-ons. Only problem is on mobile devices where the touch screen is not at its best. Could not navigate smoothly. Hard to move because it doesn’t go by touch but works like an invisible mouse. And when you have pop up menu it goes away when you go to another app and come back. If you want to copy a text from another app then come back and input or try to paste on the pop-up menu you can’t. Makes it a little challenging

  4. This app used to work great on any Samsung phone I had, until now. Samsung S22 Ultra, and every time I open the app, I see ‘preparing for first run’ and I see the version info, and the opening picture, then it goes black. I uninstalled and tried downloading 19.4 from kodi.tv, same thing. I have it on my S7 tablet and firestick and it works fine. Just not my phone. Help would be much appreciated! And I will change my rating. I’ll keep searching for a fix for now.

  5. I wish it was easier to update the movie players better. It plays it good for a certain amounts of time, then it gets hard to play the movies. Just wish that there was an easier tutorial to updating it and maintaining the applications. Besides those problems, its an awesome app to have when on a low budget, when it comes to watching movies and/or tv shows.

  6. Aside from erasing and then making it nearly impossible to remap to an existing home media server, it’s also completely useless after the latest update. It’s cumbersome UI no longer supports the best skins and themes available, it does not seem to be able to download and support any required dependencies in order to properly function. Every attempt gives a “not compatible with this version” error. Developer’s completely blew it on this one.

  7. Anyone who gives KODI a bad review citing the inability to connect to (( whatever )) is wrong. KODI will connect to virtually anything via any network protocol. Like any powerful app, it requires a bit of time and thought to set up, so it’s not for the lazy or stupid, but if you want a power packed media player, this is it. if you want an app that does everything for you, keep looking.

  8. I’ve tried multiple add-ons and can’t get anything to play at all. I’ve tried different titles also. I’ve restarted my device. Cleared Kodi cache. Tried with VPN on and off. Tried LTE and wifi. Tried updating the add-on. It acts like it wants to play the video. A loading box will pop up for a few seconds then disappear. I used this app a couple years ago and it was great. Now it seems to be useless. The UI has always been a mess. They try to make it look like an entire OS. The keyboard is trash.

  9. I have been reading alot of the reviews on this app; I too agree there is a huge crash problem. However; my advice to those who know their devices… (As a dev) it is possible to set your device to install from unknown sources from a web browser and find an older version of the Kodi app like Leah 18.9. By doing so you won’t have as many crashes and it will help with some of the bug issues.

  10. When it works it’s great, but over the past few years that’s become more and more rare. It CONSTANTLY freezes and crashes, and I have to force close it more than probably every other app combined. I can’t do anything with it anymore because of its extreme fragility, and so it’s become worse than useless. Downhill and problematic since Krypton.

  11. Edit: Okaaaay, switching the phone to 60hz (standard refresh rate) allowed me to enter the app. Changing the APP’S refresh rate from 60 to 48 allows it to work on my phone. Probably has something to do with Variable Refresh Rate, so check that first. Now that I’m in, the UI looks awful and I’m stuck in landscape. Features over Plex seem interesting, but fairly niche on a phone. Original: Doesn’t work on S20+ running 1UI4 and Android 12. Dumps me into a black screen. Plex seems to work better.

  12. This latest update is a total nightmare. My Nvidia shield just automatically updated the version 19.0 and not only did it break most of my add-ons but I can no longer view any of my media over the network from my home media server. I should have checked the reviews before uninstalling and reinstalling the app because now I have lost all my playlists and all my add-on configurations and it is still broken!

  13. Quark dice:

A lot of the recent negative reviews are really frustrating for such a good app. You would think that the people using this would be able to do like two searches to figure out how to roll back their installs if they needed to, but I guess not. I also keep seeing people saying network storage is a problem, and that’s weird cause it works fine. Just type in the address of the network drive, like nfs://yournfsIP/whatever/wherever

  14. TerrariumTV was miles & away better than Kodi, but unfortunately was shut down by the developer. Kodi is very average, works okay on PC & phone…but, almost useless on Amazon fireTV or Android TV’s. Loads very slowly and crashes a lot. Don’t believe when you’re told that you have a bad internet connection, something wrong with your TV (or external Android device), the build/add-ons that you’ve installed on it, or that you’re not issuing it for it’s intended use. TerrariumTV, side-by-side, was quick, efficient, and crash-free. Umpteen updates still haven’t fixed the problems with Kodi. It’s a shame, bc of it worked the way it should, it would be awesome…but, then again, they’ll tell you until they’re blue in the face that it’s not for illegal streaming (when they know full well it is) it’s just an innocent platform. Sure, whatever. Do yourselves a favor and find another “innocent platform”. Cheers, all!

  15. Just did the Kodi 19 update, Absolutely hate it. I loved it before this update, was simple and easy to find anything I wanted to watch… now however that is not the case. Hard to find shows I watched before, hard to get it to play anything and it crashes all the time. It doesn’t show a description of the movie/TV show. Been trying to get it to play one TV show for almost an hour now, and only been able to watch one episode since 5am. Its terrible!

  16. love it when it works. sometimes the add-ons disappear and i have to redownload a build. it’s not too complicated because i have a kodi configurator but it can be frustrating. it also takes a LOT of room to install the app and the build that makes it work. otherwise, great app. i tell all my friends about it. if these few small issues could somehow be remedied, I’d give 5 stars in a heartbeat but they are not serious enough to make the app an uninstall.

  17. I would have given this ZERO stars if that were an option. This new update is total garbage! I’ve had many different versions of Kodi over the post years and none have been as tag as this. The one add-on that has ALWAYS worked now doesn’t. I’ve deleted it off my devices and I’ll check back in a while to see if it’s fixed but for now, I’m out.

  18. Plays everything I throw at it. Has a built-in file browser. Sound sync works correctly, (most players don’t sync correctly.) Though x265 files play choppy on most devices, that’s the hardware. Extremely configurable and frequent. The bad; vlc has auto find server. Kodi doesn’t, so one has to configure their server information themselves. The gui may be confusing at first. The text on most skins is very small on my small TV.

  19. CS F dice:

My Nvidia Shield Media player (two) got updated recently with the latest version of Kodi. However , I haven’t been able to watch any of the videos from my NAS folders. All I can see are the “..” which obviously gets.me up one level. Had no problems with the previous version

  20. Cav Vet dice:

This version of the app doesn’t work on my X88 Pro 10. It won’t even complete the setup process because of a Permission error. AVOID downloading this version as long as you possibly can. Perhaps they will have fixed the bugs by then.

  21. J Rai dice:

Great until now. Been a kodi user for 6 years now. Why all of a sudden is Kodi requiring access to all files and media on my device? This had never been necessary before and now, you receive a prompt when you attempt to open the app and if you don’t give the permissions, it kicks you off. I, like many others I’m sure, WILL NOT be giving full access to my device to kodi. FIX THIS and I will reinstall the app. If you don’t, I’m out.

  22. Not working after update to 20.0. I am not able to install anything from a zip folder, the file explorer shows empty folders and that shouldn’t be the case cause I already made sure I had the files in the folder. Please fix!!

  23. Martin dice:

Awful. Tries to be too much whilst failing at the basics. I’ve got an mkv video file here of an episode , Kodi won’t even show it in the file list yet VLC shows and plays with no issue. Been using Kodi for years but just tired of it not even doing the basics of playing videos. It’s rubbish.

  24. I’ve been using Kodi for years, but I do not like this new version, kodi 20.0. I can not get the PVR stations like I had in Kodi 19.3. The live tv I get on apps stops working all the time. And now the Crew app IPTV stopped working. USTVGO no longer works, and the Mad TV PVR is not available on kodi 20.0. I really hope this all gets fixed or I am going back to Kodi 19.3.

  25. J dice:

Google managed to uncheck my disable updates option to install the new version of Kodi. It ruined my setup as it’s not compatable or just has glitches. I also side loaded Kodi and didn’t use the play store yet google gets there paws on my installation. Very invasive of google. Kodi needt to offer a version that google can’t touch.

  26. Lorraine, My S22 ultra did the same black screen of death Go to settings display change screen resolution to HD+(1544 x 720), and change screen mode to natural. Restart the phone and try Kodi again it has started properly since that change hope that helped you to see the results you’ve gotten prior. If you have not yet fixed this issue, try it out. Regards. After the update, I’ve Reverted to a higher resolution and have not yet had any issues to date

  27. new version crashes, old version was ok, but new one crashes on MI tv -stick, tried everything from rebooting, re-installing .How do I go back to old version , tried two more devices, android s905 box and firetv, they all crash when the enigma2 plugin is installed

  28. Despite the issue with version 20, which could not read files unless a workaround, some aspects of Kodi have improved, but the application crashes quite often on the Nvidia shield.

  29. UbdU dice:

Every GD time there’s a major version update, it introduces something that causes microstutters in local videos. Why can’t this just work, like VLC or literally anything else?

  30. The version is not working, everything is unavailable to load channel. Please fix this in live tv channels , unable to load channel in Android tv. I hope this will fix soon

  31. Works great. I don’t understand why everyone is having problems . Cause it works flawlessly. Real debris is the best way to use the app ( Galaxy S20 FE 5G)

  32. It is the best application on the planet and i don’t know why people give bad reviews the latest version is stable and working fine and very quickly asit uses python 3.1 it is quicker than 3.0 by 20 % .

  33. Alvin Ang dice:

Cannot install add-ons. Even if I used the local storage. Can fix this? All access already given to the app

  34. This app is useless poor and very low quality waste time don’t work well tv this app update. anytime not working tv channels this app rate is 0 star

  35. New update requires access to manage all files on devices without your consent. No thanks you idiots.

  36. Quality is quite average of channels and sometimes this app dosen’t work but quality of HD channels is good…

  37. The new update keeps force closing on my phone , and will not let me put in my add-ons …I have to delete it

  38. This app does not work for my s21+. It keeps on going black screen and doesn’t load. 9 out of 10 times it goes black. I Uninstall and installed several times but it doesn’t work. Problem is my android box doesn’t support the new version app and i had to install on my phone until I get new box. The user interface is very complicated to find and go back and forth for the content you’re looking for.

  39. I have installed Kodi for playing jio tv in my android tv but same is not playing .. i am fed up from the app and now uninstalling it

  40. This version not workings channel not load. Please update and solve the problem
