  1. I like this app except for a few minor things. When started, it defaults to North up. I prefer heading up, and have to change it each time I launch it. It shoul be in settings, like most other apps. And, if I turn on speed alerts, it seems to be 3 mph, and is too sensitive. It needs to have a settable value in settings.

  2. Rachel H dice:

The app itself is okay and handy if you’re driving a van or truck as Google doesn’t account for bridges and small roads. However, it’s billed at €14.99 a month which is expensive. I tried to end my subscription today before renewal and it’s already renewed so I got charged. Google told me to contact TomTom Go directly to ask about a refund for this month as I won’t use it, and I can’t find how to contact them anywhere so am having to write a review!

  3. Does not work. Useless. Have had TomTom for 20 years. The app wouldn’t show any maps and wouldn’t download. After downloading maps, entered the destination which showed, but it would not accept the current location. Said does not exist. Tried to manually enter the starting point, but it would not work. Restarted multiple times, downloaded more maps, still nothing. Also, why the he’ll doyou have to manually select each US state map to download. Google does this automatically. Support link bad.

  4. Nice interface, excellent traffic information. Big let down is the quality of the maps. The maps are outdated and the routing algorithm has no awareness of traffic restrictions in certain areas and roads. TomTom works fine if you live outside city areas, but if you live in a place like London with unusual traffic restrictions where there are intricate LTNs and complicated congestion charging zones (active at different times of the days and are different over the weekends), then stay away.

  5. Works well with Android Auto. I prefer it over AmiGO which is also by TomTom. Search engine works well and download maps makes for an overall smoother experience when a network signal is weak or non existent. Subscription price is reasonable for what you get. Only thing I’d like to see is the ability for the app to tell you whether your destination is on the left or right when you arrive.

  6. Have three big issues after installing. I predominantly use Android auto. 1st issue, and this is a deal breaker, I can’t figure out how to display the current street I’m on w/out a destination programmed. This is a must have feature. 2nd. Font is too small, need to make bigger. Can’t see without my readers. 3rd. I need to turn off the speed nany. Update: That setting is enabled. Still no street name. Also I sent an email about inaccurate destinations.

  7. Squeaky dice:

Decent navigation app if you want to avoid Google, but not very good if you’ve had any road construction in the past year. Major highway interchanges (interstate highway) was reconstructed near me a year ago and the app still has the wrong layout, anyone not from here would be in trouble. Other than outdated maps, the interface is nice and clear. Directions are good when compared to Google or Waze. However, since I travel to new states / cities on every week, I can’t rely on the old maps.

  8. I’m finding myself guided to the wrong destination more and more frequently. The address seems to get approximated when I search. I expect it to find it as accurately as Google maps or Waze, but it does not work that well. It is steering me wrong way on one way streets occasionally now in San Francisco. I cannot use this as my default app anymore. It’s great for offline maps. I love not having advertisers on my navigation screen

  9. Rey Lopez dice:

So disappointed when you consider this is a paid service. The maps are seriously out date. I got roads down here and by roads I mean major highways like the turnpike and dolphin that were redone and finished a few years ago. Yet this app with the latest updates has the old layouts on these roads. I don’t have a choice then to cancel my subscription. It’s sad because I was looking for a nicer alternative to waze and especially Google maps. The TomTom go layout is gorgeous but inacurrate.

  10. L L dice:

Excelente. I can create my routes with many stops and save them in my route list. You have your maps saved on your device and don’t have to worry about a bad signal. The routing is fast and accurate. I do would like to be able to customize the size and color of the fonts, so i can see them better. Thank you.

  11. C Johnson dice:

It has a clean and clear UI, great for someone that’s news to mobile GPS maps for destination travel, however, for some reason it loses the saved addresses, meaning it literally changes the numeric portion of the address you set, not just for Home or Work, but all of the saved addresses. For someone who has used Maps and Waze you’d miss the extras for road hazards, police, etc. Sygic is better, but it lacks informing regarding where the Police are located.

  12. This app leaves a lot to be desired. First of all, it really struggles to log into the right account (not sure if that’s because I have more than one email or not) once I’m finally logged in (which takes so long because once you try the wrong credentials once, it’s stuck on a loop where there is no obvious lot out button) then halfway through my trip an ad booted me from my map and I had to pull over to try to get it to work again (I actually couldn’t get it to work again. Waste of money. Sad.

  13. Wanted to like it, and willing to pay the premium but just too many issues. 1) Took 15mins before it started map download. 2) First day I used it, it just would not dial in any route…just showed these slidey things across screen. 3) Once everything finally started working, it was spotty inaccurate, ex…I turn and 100ft down street, but still showing me sitting at intersection…made several wrong turns as it lagged. Did really like the nav bar, however. Maybe try again later.

  14. This is the best of the GPS navigation apps I found for the Android system so far. It shows good maps, and tracks quite well. Has some idiosyncrasies that are annoying, however. For example, in many Urban settings it only tells you every other or every third cross street. When you’re simply looking for a certain turn or intersection this can be an extremely annoying omission. We were a little annoyed with the route planning algorithms when trying to drive through Portland Oregon recently. No matter whether we chose the shortest route, or the fastest route, it seems we got either a bunch of turn offs that were unnecessary, or it dragged us off the interstate onto a bunch of side streets just to make sure we were going the shortest distance. It needs to have some option for, perhaps, the simplest route. When you’re pulling a trailer you don’t want to be exiting and entering a freeway repeatedly, or driving around on a bunch of tiny surface streets. Lastly, I would really like to see an option for displaying your elevation as you’re traveling. That’s another handy feature when you’re dragging a trailer up a long grade. It can be helpful to know how close to the summit you actually are.

  15. The app is nice. I seem to be accurate. The is a few annoying thing. There should be an option to save the map to the external memory card. it takes to much memory. Seems to somethings pick the nears intersection, when saving a location. Points of interest is basicly useless. I dont understand, where they come from. I took me on a toll road, even though I had the option set to not do that. It would be nice, if miles would be expressed in decimal 10th miles, instead of fractions.

  16. Being a part time courier I need a good navigation app, I was hoping this would be the app, as the price is very reasonable. Unfortunately I cannot even get it to run on my phone, Galaxy S8, it appears that any map you download won’t work. I can’t add any places or search for anything, just get ‘internal search error’ message, have reinstalled several times to no avail. Very disappointed.

  17. Decent app, a little clunky, but I do like the 3d mode. Still doesnt hold a candle to maps or waze. I am unable to just drop a point and navigate. It has to be a “legitimate” address. I work in construction and maps arent that up to date. I also work, hunt, and fish in the country and need to pick a spot just past the curve where the blind is at for example

  18. Using the new version for a few weeks now. First the good: I really like the routing algorithms and profile options. So far, better than most others I’ve tried. But that is about where it ends. The bad: Map display is awful, and almost useless in non-nav (map only) mode. Local streets do not show up unless zoomed really close, and even then, almost invisible with white-on-light gray background! Having to tap the screen to activate zoom (+-) buttons is a pain. Autozoom feature doesn’t seem to work, it is either too close in or too far out. Needs a ‘zoom to next turn’ option. Hoping this is a bug and can be fixed. *Edit: Since I’ve been unable to duplicate the subscription verification problem I had while traveling off-line, I’ve deleted that comment. Still has me concerned though. Another problem I would add is that there is no search option for contacts. I have several hundred contacts on my phone, and it is nearly impossible to scroll through to find the one address I need. For U.S. users, you need to add regional map download options, maybe 4-6 regions at most. I frequently travel across country, and it is a real pain to manage all the individual maps I might need on a single trip!

  19. M T dice:

I like how easy it is to see the different types of roads. The turning sections of the directions are clear and before the street you need to turn on. Searching tomtom maps however needs drastic updating. I can’t search for counties border lines like in Google for example. I’m trying to get rid of Google but i can’t until tomtom get better in their searches and poi’s. It would also be a great help if, when you click on a poi, more information, that it would open the web page.

  20. I couldn’t find a Garmin app and I had only heard of TomTom, so I tried it. TomTom has a fantastic user interface, much better than google’s maps and other free ones. There are a ton of features and there’s a huge manual to read if you want to become thoroughly familiar with them. It’s also intuitive enough for you to easily figure out the basics. I’m impressed with how accurately it shows construction and traffic and it even has a bar on the side to show you exactly how long before you reach it

  21. Dan dice:

This app is made for only one thing: routing to a known destination. It is NOT good for trip planning or exploring unfortunately. Yesterday I tried to use it to explore a new motorcycle route, and it got quite confusing. It has an “auto zoom” feature which is particularly annoying; it keeps zooming out to the point where the road you are driving on is not visible!!! It should never do that in my opinion. I do like the fact that this app protects your privacy.

  22. I tried it. I even paid $20 for it. Money wasted. Two MAJOR irritants. First, this app has to reload all the time. If you switch to a different app and come back to it, it must reload and you’ve lost your itinerary. Second, it only maps a few of the possible itineraries, typically the major roads and highways. So, it often takes you on significantly longer roads, just because that’s the ones that it knows.

  23. Was really excited to try this app. I think it has alot of potential but i believe the app isn’t fully completed yet. Quite a bit of restaurants and Poi locations in Downtown Nashville have not yet been added. I wish they had some of waze’s features (police traps, reporting accidents). I like the map and the navigation so far has been very solid. Google maps is still the top navigation app, but I believe with time, TomTom can take the crown.

  24. This app is totally worthless. Can’t put in addresses, can’t do searches. I mean you can put them in but nothing ever comes up to the point you can’t even start navigation. Waste of time and download. This happens for all addresses, all states, all locations. I can’t share addresses since it happens to everything. I loved the app as it isn’t usable. Yes all maps were downloaded and installed.

  25. I originally tried TomTom GO in 2018 and had trouble with it crashing mid drive. I recently gave it another shot. My work requires me to drive in some extremely out of the way places using GPS coordinates. I don’t want to carry a stand alone GPS, one more thing I have to carry on a plane. Most other phone GPS apps do not run well or at all without a tower signal. TomTom GO navigates with only a GPS position signal. The crashing problem is no more and the app runs flawlessly. The app is also very good at finding fuel/restaurant stops along your current route. Whereas Google will find everything, sometimes businesses that you have already passed on the highway; TomTom GO does a great job of selecting easy to get to stops along the route. This is invaluable on the highway. Every navigation device/ app does some things particularly well and I use more than one depending on the situation. TomTom GO is exceptional on highway and rural trips. In my case, its a lifesaver. Highly recommend. I would like to see a Family Subscription for Android.

  26. I just installed the app and downloaded the maps. The maps are comically bad. I live in city of 35,000 in Japan and the map shows all of 10 streets, out of hundreds. 95% or more of the streets are just plain missing. The street I live on, the larger street it branches off of, and the main street that branches off are all just not there–it just shows an arrow plowing along through nothingness, as if I were driving through a huge forest instead of a dense quasi-urban area. Even the major national expressways are missing. Maybe it’s better in a few major cities, but if you installed this and tried it out in a big city and thought it was fine, you’d be up a creek once you got past the city limits if you were relying on this app..

  27. I drive a commercial van in the NY, NJ, CT area I can’t drive on most parkways with a commercial vehicle. With this app, I can remove those parkways from the trip list and I can drive safely and get where I am going fast. Commercial or truck GPS will cost way more and take longer trips to get were you need to go. After trying a few apps, in my opinion, this one was the best for commercial vans and light trucks.

  28. Worthless at best. I decided to give it a try after reading an article about it. It was working fine while I was testing it on short trips. Loved the fact that I could change the colors and personalize it. Took a plane from Denver to Salt Lake and rented a car. I fired the app up for directions to my dedti action and the maps was blank and the speed display was in KM. I re-downloaded the North America map and refreshed the map. Still blank. No money from me. Waste of time and space on my phone.

  29. So far, disappointed. Just installed, and already a road closure that isn’t on the map. Google maps has it. Map is just updated after installing. Don’t know yet how to report stuff, or there isn’t anyway to do so, but very disappointed. Starting off not able to fully trust the navigation. Also, not awesome that there aren’t any layers, but maybe once i get adjusted to it, that won’t matter.

  30. I’ve been using TOMTOM GO for several plus years now, and it has not failed me in any of the countries that I work in. It would be nice to add Traffic, but I prefer to be completely offline and not use data. I highly recommend Go over many other similar apps – I check them out occasionally – but I can’t see why TomTom needs access to my contacts and pictures. Please give us an option to turn this feature off, as the phone is mine not yours! In summary this is THE best offline GPS / SatNav app available.

  31. My free trial is going to be over before I actually download enough states to do any testing of this application. While I can appreciate downloading the maps for offline use. Having an individually check each state is rather annoying. It only seems to download two or three states at a time regardless of how many you check. I downloaded this app so I could experiment with more efficient routes and routes off the beat and path. –> I cannot see pricing without canceling my trial. <-- Please add download all states at one time. The app couldn't find a way across three states till I downloaded all states even though I had the three required states.

  32. The app is great: it works smoothly and it’s laid out better than apps like Waze and Google Maps for the most part, with easy touch points and logical menus… But that’s about where my good experience ended. My main reason for trying this in the US was because I wanted to see what other Navigation apps could offer, and TomTom GO proved that some things could be done better, but that all fell apart with the incomplete map data and terrible voice guidance (i.e. “Cat-a-nooga”) for $4.99/mo.

  33. This is the best nav app Ive found. Very quick route calculation, responsive and intuitive interface, reliable in-town navigation, easy to download and manage offline maps. App is updated frequently and seems to have gotten much quicker since I first downloaded it over a year ago. That said still use with caution on minor backroads outta town as the road data is still very incomplete and sometimes inaccurate conpared to other (albiet less user friendly) options.

  34. This is the app to have for navigation. I found it to have better routing than Google and Waze. It does fall short on finding business sometimes, but if you have the street address it will get you there. An unexpected surprise was the live traffic. I have enjoyed using TomTom GO for the past month during the free trail. I don’t travel enough to justify paying for it, though I am tempted. If I do have the need in the future I won’t hesitate to subscribe.

  35. Incredibly smooth and unique interface. Extremely accurate GPS navigation. Offers additional features and content. Simply put, it’s the best navigation application out there. And I’ve used them all. Worth the monthly fee, easily. The developers went above and beyond when they created this one.

  36. Sam K dice:

I’m with Neil J!! This used to be a killer app. You’d pay your $21.99 a year and get timely map updates for the whole U.S. or beyond, and it was a done deal. NOW…it’s a nightmare. You have to add each state individually, which in and of itself isn’t so bad but when you try to add more than a few states at a time, even though the app allows you to do it, you only get a fraction of the states you’ve selected. Then you have to go back and add and add. Wash. Rinse. Repeat. And it keeps locking up when it’s initializing the maps. It’s just a nightmare. Also, I have 4 phones and only ONE of them got the “New and Improved” version, while the other 3 still said I had to pay $21.99!! I put in my identification information and it STILL said I had to pay to upgrade, even though I’d already paid the new yearly price of $12.99, auto renewable, for the one phone that got the update. The price is good, but the product is in the crapper now. FIX IT folks! A.S.A.P.

  37. Ray Hill dice:

Notifications are very soft. When multiple routes available, unlike with Waze, it doesn’t give info on the routes so you can pick what option is really best. I picked the one listed as fastest… Um, no it wasn’t the fastest! It was actually the slowest because the fastest only takes into account the distancing, not traffic or lights. I really liked the interface and display but, of it’s going to take me through the heart of a midsized metro city as the fastest route, I have to pay on this app.

  38. Where do I even begin? Very poor routing suggestions, no level of accuracy with traffic, and very limited options with interface customization. Voice nav is terrible and they keep going on about this BIG update coming that will revolutionize the whole operation yet nothing has been done.. I paid for a 1 month premium as a trial and I’m glad I didn’t just get the year. I’ll probably uninstall it and stick with Google maps. I would strongly recommend others do the same. Don’t waste the money!

  39. The app is in pretty good shape, although 50 miles is really low for freebie usage in majority of US suburban areas. I can use 50 miles in one day’s commute in Atlanta. The interface is little funky on my Note 10+ in vertical orientation which I prefer. The only thing keeping me from signing up for the premium subscription is the lack of premium add-on voices. I’ve been using Google Maps and Waze for well over ten years and they’re really just bland and the premium voices are sorely missed.

  40. I purchased this app a couple years ago. It worked well. Before my trip 2 weeks ago I downloaded all of the map updates. I land, get in the rental car pull up a saved destination start navigating and the app says that I don’t have enough credit miles! I purchased this app, it has always worked for me and now I have to pay more to use it? Had to switch to google maps. I prefer offline maps but not if I have to keep paying for it.
