I really wish there was a pause function. I spent my morning trying to do a corded transfer and it was in the last few minutes when the battery in one phone ran out. (I don’t have a cordless charger.) I wish it just saved as it went, and then since you don’t transfer duplicates, if someone has to stop for any reason, they can just end it, retaining what’s been transferred so far, and start a new sync to transfer any remaining stuff they couldn’t before.
3.7.56.12 version seemed to fix my data back up problem with the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic. Smart switch operates in the background and there is no way to manually trigger a watch data back up. It hadn’t been working since April 2024.(My last back up until 6/20/24) Smart Switch has always had 100% permissions and nothing has changed besides this June 14th update, that I didn’t get until the 19th. That evening (last night) it backed up. So….thank you. 😂😊
Never got the apps to transfer, or contacts from the device. Transferring data via the USB-C cable, the new phone completely drained the battery of the old phone before all the data was transferred. It killed the other phone battery with all the data I needed to transfer. Now the old phone won’t even charge. UPDATE: The previous phone did eventually charge, but just be careful to not use the USB-C to USB-C cable overnight as the default setting will drain the battery.
It works, not well, at all. To unlock some options you need to click around until this sorry piece of software decides to unlock the option that had no reason to be grayed out in the first place. Does it sync, you could say that, does it sync properly, seldom. The newer the version the worse it gets and the less options you get.
IF YOU LOVE BEING HACKED ON A REGULAR BASIS, THIS IS THE APP FOR YOU. Yes, you need a cable, so the tech challenges me. Yes, but what about all of that data that smart switch stores. I believe it’s the whole shebang, right. I have been hacked several times, and they usually use Yahoo mail to get it, according to my Google account activity. After that, they usually go right into developer settings, tweak a few things, and then get into the app data of yours truly “Smart Switch,” passwords, yum 😋
There’s a few things worse than a company the size of Samsung but can’t seem to do any better than this. Turn on people have had pretty intense problems you have the exact same pat answer every time.. I’m glad I never installed it because the wording you were using about transfer and other words made me very suspicious from the beginning. To start with that isn’t how I want to use this tablet. Incredible companies this big can’t do better than that!
Want this app uninstalled. Not disabled, not in deep sleep, not any other hide tactic. I want it uninstalled You didn’t understand. I said nothing about the size. The issue is that the app is for transferring data. Unless I am planning to transfer data between devices it has no use. I have been deleting updates for months, each and every day I have to delete the updates. Uninstall updates DOES NOT mean uninstall app. Giving incorrect information is NOT helpful, and shows disrespect
This app did not copy from phone to phone. It was supposed to copy one Android to another Android it did not work. There was a whole lot of telling me the phones had to be charged to a certain percentage also, they gave you the option to connect via cables or wireless. I did not have the cables so I used wireless (which is WiFi) it constantly told me that it could not connect even though both phones were connected to the same WiFi. This was a total headache I do not recommend.
I can’t believe I didn’t know this app existed. I just bought the S10 Plus and figured I would try using Smart Switch, not really knowing how well it would work. In a matter of minutes, everything transferred from my S9 Plus to my new one. When I turned my new one on, everything was set up exactly the way it was on my old one. Including the lock screen and home screen wallpaper, my apps were all in the same order they were on the old one. I didn’t have to do a thing. 👍🏻👏🏼
App failed a couple times and had to restart it. The app has only the bare minimum of info to direct a user what to do when and whether there are any pre-requisites (disable screen timeouts, etc.). It looked like it had finished, then I saw in notifications there was still 40% left to go. I’d think I’d need to keep it in proximity for the duration? INFORM YOUR USER!
Absolutely useless. I have wasted a hour installing and reinstalling and trying to get it to work transferring from a recent Galaxy to a brand new Galaxy, again and again and again, and it literally fails every single time in one of several different ways. Sometimes it won’t connect at all. Sometimes the app will just shut off and disappear, sometimes it will connect briefly then crash. Worthless.
For all the phones they sell, this is trash. Odd and unclear messages in its use. Won’t back up onto a network drive. Claims that photos are hidden when they are not (and in some cases there just aren’t any photos). Won’t back up a secure folder or install on the secure side of your phone to do so. Just doesn’t inspire trust. If you want something to transfer your text messages and contacts, then Ok. Otherwise forget this.
12-25-2020 — Horrible!!!! The app will not install! After trying over a dozen times, and using the link to common fixes (which is BS)! I have had Samsung for about the last 10 years (whenever they did away with the blackberry), and I have never had any problems…until now! 🤬 UPDATE (12-28-2020): I tried what you suggested, and that also did not work. I got the same message. So apparently your app does not work on the new Samsung phones.
No longer works. App not supported through galaxy store now as well. Used to be seamless and easy. Now phones won’t connect on the same wifi. Quit being cheap. If a cable is required include one!!! The new charging cables would work after purchase but not included. I live an hour plus away from nearest retailer. Now I get to waste half a day traveling to get phones switched.
Still very impressed. Backed up my previous phone to a new phone, followed the instructions, no issue. Be mindful that the USB cable does not move, else disconnects. Also, one phone must have USB Charging changed to “Data Transfer”, else one or both phones will just shut off. After the transfer, give it some time. It took about ½hr after the transfer to be a fully functional clone.
DO NOT INSTALL THIS APP! I was hesitant and for good reason! It should have been simple, S7edge to S9. Simple right? NO!! 15 HOURS later, yes 15 hours it took to allegedly transfer my stuff! I say allegedly bcuz it didnt! I was watching, music, pictures, video, took like 12 hours! But where did they go? Oh, gee they’re still on the 7edge, well thank God 4 that. Last time this app LOST 700 pictures outta over 1500. There is no good switching app. Use a thumb drive, your computer, anything else!
Not optimal or time saving. You would think Samsung could do better with this app. Transferring the data from one phone to the other sounds good in theory, but if all of the former preferences, passwords, messages don’t go over, it’s useless. I have spent three days resetting all of my notification sounds, text messages which took 3 attempts and re-signing in to all of my apps which meant looking up all of the passwords. I might have been just better off reinstalling everything on my own.
this is a major disappointment. only works with wifi transfer from phone to phone. the wired feature doesn’t work, and neither does the USB backup data. tried several data cables and it would always fail at 51% and the USB storage would fail at 43% tried ssd, USB, and nvme encounter. nothing worked. Samsung really needs to get it together. this is a rather fundamental feature for getting a new device and only 1 feature works. major disappointment samsung.
Amazing service!! All of my apps were installed, and the settings of each individual app were identical to my other phone! While Google was restoring my apps/contacts on Note 10, I discovered an app I’d bought years ago was no longer available in the Play Store. I searched for a compatible app while Smart Switch was running but didn’t see one. Once Smart Switch finished, the app was installed on my Note 10!! I was even more thrilled when I opened it and saw everything had already been set up!!
Recently used to move to a new Note 20 ultra. Did it work? Yes, 95%. What didn’t transfer? Accounts. Without inserting a Sim, accounts will fail to transfer every time, even with a strong Wi-Fi connection. After inserting a card and transferring at least one account, everything works. It’s a little bad for a new device experience, but it does flash a very short warning that this will happen
