Descripción

Listen to live audio from over 7,000 fire and police scanners, weather radios, amateur radio repeaters, air traffic and marine radios from around the world. Turn on notifications to receive alerts anytime a scanner has more than 2000 listeners (find out about major events as they’re breaking).

FEATURES

• View scanners located nearest you.
• View the top 50 scanners that have the most listeners.
• View list of scanners added most recently (new scanners are being added all the time).
• Add scanners you listen to the most to your Favorites for quick access.
• Browse the directory by location or genre (public safety, air traffic, railroad, marine, etc).
• Turn on notifications to be notified when major events are happening (details below).
• Add Scanner Radio Pro widgets and shortcuts to your home screen for quick access.
• Supports Android Auto.

NOTIFICATION FEATURES

Receive a notification anytime:

• …any scanner in the directory has more than 2000 listeners (configurable).
• …a scanner within a certain distance of your location has more than a certain number of listeners.
• …a specific scanner has more than a certain number of listeners.
• …a Broadcastify alert is posted for one of your favorites.
• …a scanner within a certain distance from you is added to the directory.

In addition to the above features, you also get the following features with this version of the app:

• No ads.
• Access to all 6 theme colors.
• Push notifications sent within 5 minutes (vs within 15 minutes in the free version).
• The ability to record the audio.
• The play button at the bottom of the directory screens and on the widgets can be used to start listening without having to go to the player screen.

The audio you’re able to hear is provided by volunteers (and, in many cases, police and fire departments themselves) for Broadcastify and a few other sites using real police scanners and is the same audio you would hear using your own police scanner.

If you need assistance, please go to http://support.gordonedwards.net/

Explanation of why a couple of permissions are needed:

• The “Location” permission is required so that the app can determine what scanners are located in your area when you select “Nearby Scanners”. When you select “Nearby Scanners” the app first attempts to determine your location via the network, if that fails the app then tries to determine your location via GPS.

• The “Photos/Media/Files” / “modify or delete the contents of your USB storage” permission is required in order to allow you to record the audio you’re hearing and be able to save it to a location that you can access from your computer.

Novedades

Fixed a crash that could occur after tapping on the Info button on the player screen.

  1. I love this app and being able to know what’s going on. However sometimes it seems to freeze up and not connect for live feeds. Not too often though so I’ll manage. The ONE thing I would REALLY LOVE to suggest is possibly finding a way to implement an audio wave!!! Some scanners have a lot of dead air so when you go into the 30 min archive segments you’re kind of going in blind. How cool would it be to be able to see the audio wavelengths so you know what spots to skip to to hear sound? 😀

It’s great…but won’t shut down! I keep waiting for Charlie Horse to start singing, “This is the app that doesn’t end…yes it goes on and on my friend…”. It would be nice to have a EXIT button! I didn’t realize the ability to shut down the app was an “option” that I had to enable. This function should be a default choice.

  3. One of my truly favorite apps, dh is a volunteer fireman & bro is a paid, & this app is especially useful for local mutual aid alerts, but only if the town also broadcasts. When either go out on a call, I can listen, no matter where I am, & don’t have to rely on the pager. Occasionally a town in the area stops broadcasting, but that is no fault to the app. I just wish the SORT BY DISTANCE actually worked, never did, not even close…

  4. fantastic scanner! covers everything in my area so i don’t have to buy a $600 handheld scanner , and then i’d have to programme all the channels. totally worth the subscription to support the developer. i receive the broadcasts without delay- they always state the time they’re responding over the air, and it always matches the current time so i know there are no delays. runs perfectly in the background even when i shut the screen down (samsung note 10) and its good on battery

  5. I tried the free version of this app for many, many hours and it was GREAT! I upgraded to Pro (since it is such a good price), and all of a sudden–I don’t hear much of anything, on any channel. I have gone into every possible setting, checked for updates, and restarted everything, numerous times, and no improvement. I hope this review shows to be wrong, I’m so bummed about it. For now, save your money and storage space…it’s only been white noise.

  6. Absolutely love this app, the fact that I can close the app and do everything on my phone that I would normally do and it still plays my channel in the background is fantastic! I was worried about it using my battery up but it honestly doesnt seem to effect battery life at all. Upgraded to the pro version so I can record live audio and share straight from my phone and couldn’t he happier. Highly recommend this app if you want to stay up to date on local situations.

  7. I used to love this app. I like to turn it on and listen to it when things were getting a little crazy close to home. Sadly though lately when I turn it on it won’t turn off. Even After exiting the app it still runs in the background. I find this very intrusive and don’t like things that don’t turn off. I bought the pro version but just deleted it and will not reinstall it. I went through the settings but saw nothing that would prohibit my scanner from turning on on its own. Not anymore.

  8. I’ve been using this for years with really no issues. My only suggestion is for the developer to somehow make it so that when connected to a vehicle by Bluetooth, the Play/Pause Media button of the vehicle, controls the Scanner stream playback, similar to other media programs being able to be paused / played with the button on the car stereo. Thanks.

Great app! I’ve used the free version for a long time, nice. But I decided to buy the Pro version. I get no audio for my area. Tried another app (free one), same problem with the particular feed in question. But this area has TWO feeds originating from different locations in the same centrally located area. The secondary feed (as I’ve dubbed it) works fine when it’s online, but the main feed, which seems the more popular, remains quiet even tho it shows a large audience. Please help! Thanks 🙂

  10. Pro doesn’t give you ads, but compared to the free app, the audio shuts off for EVERYTHING. God forbid you should be scrolling through another app and a video or ad starts to play. You’re going to have to go back to the scanner to turn it back on. High maintenance. Why not run in the background like the free one? That one I can listen to music and the scanner simultaneously. **In answer to your suggestion, no. That didn’t work.

  11. This is the best Police & Emergency services scanner app available!! Even though it costs $2.99 it’s well worth it. I’d have paid 3 times that for it. There are no commercials & it doesn’t have any annoying stops or glitches at all. I highly recommend it. I’ve noticed at least 1 review complained about low volume. That’s what the amplifier feature is for. Turn your volume up most of the way, then open the amplifier & turn it up most or all the way. Volume should be fine then. – Kent 😁👍

  12. I have been using this app for 5+ years now. I have not found a better scanner app yet. Constant improvements and features galore. Some of the feeds in my area have background noise so the equalizer works wonderfully. super easy to find feeds near me. I’ve been a scanner enthusiast since 1978 and although I’d rather use an actual receiver, this is the next best option when I’m on the road.

Have the paid Pro version. Free version was fine. Since upgrading to Pro awhile ago, it doesn’t work so I uninstalled it. I recently moved so I thought I’d try it again. Although it shows I’m connected to the scanner in my area, there is not one bit of noise coming through. Turning on the equalizer and adjusting the slides does nothing. The developer has a note saying the equalizer doesn’t work with some devices but doesn’t say which devices it does not work with! Useless app. No support!

  14. Very disappointed that after paying for an app that it’s not capable to monitor & play a few locations at the same time! I read that I would have to install the FREE version in order to do this… Also no matter how I set this up,(which is for my favorites only), I’m still getting alerts from all over the place. Going to check into other scanner apps. Pretty bummed since I had to pay for the”upgrade”. 😡

  15. Awesome! I have come to rely on this app both as a backup when I am out without my hardware scanner, and a news machine. By setting alerts; I can be notified if something is happening elsewhere in the country, and tune in before the media even gets there. It also helps me navigate Baltimore without fear of driving into a situation that could be life threatening in advance. Customer service is A1+ if you have a problem. Support development and buy Pro!

  16. Been using the free version for years, I like the equalizer but don’t know exactly how I should tune it so I can hear what’s being said more clearly. I thought I’d get close and then the voices start sounding “furry” if that makes sense. It’s not even a complaint or anything, more or less asking for advice with that as it’s totally operator error. Fantastic app and it’s very useful. Highly recommend.

  17. I love this app. Even though what I have favorited comes from Broadcastify it doesn’t stop after a few min. I haven’t had any trouble keeping the player playing. I’m upgrading to pro version so I can listen to archives. Huge selection of agaencies to listen to as well. Very easy to navigate.

  18. Everything is straight forward with GUI. Easy to use and reception is good. Wide area network and country reception is awesome. Great deal on price. It is good when trying to get around town or need to be informed of any safety awareness issues. I listen to it when I may not be properly infoed on incidents that may arrive while traveling. Alot of area can be picked up on this and is useful time of need. I gave five stars. I have tried other scanner apps and found this app to be very useful.Apyi

  19. The Pro version has been running with no issues on my phones for many, many years, including 2+ hours streaming / recording the Boulder shooting yesterday afternoon (on my LG-V10 running Android 6.x). Then I guess something updated last evening, and this along with fully 80% of my other installed apps suddenly stopped working (“Unfortunately, “x” has stopped”). Almost 12 hours later I finally have things rebuilt and running again, but sadly this app is one of a handful now no longer along for the ride on my apparently ancient 5yo phone (which still runs *great*, by the way). I shall miss you, old friend :/ (Replying to Mr.Edwards…) Yep, that seemed to be the common thread… though I’m not certain what exact combination of actions (controlled flailing) finally got me going again. Whee!

  20. I’ve been using this scanner for 4+ years and liked it enough I paid for the Pro version after a year or so. Settings are a great tool and they are continuing to add features and improving the current. I’ve got mine set at 2500 then it alerts me. They also are adding new cities, counties and towns. You can get some international scanners but I’ve not tried to find any but at the moment Australia will pop up a lot due to the fact that the country is in flame’s.

  21. Great app, police scanner apps have come a long way since last time I used one. Just like owning a real scanner at a fraction of the cost. One request: can you add the ability to set a transparency level when creating widgets? It would be great on the favorites widget if I could set the background as well as the LCD level, and perhaps an option to keep the text more opaque than the background.

  22. This app has been around for years. It is easy to use and it does not ask you to rate it evefy 5 minutes. I have the pro version but the free version is very good. The pro version allows saving of favorite stations. That allows you to be able to change stations a lot faster. Being able to save favorites is the only thing that it does that the free version does not. This app is great. Nothing I have encountered so far beats it in every category. Get this app.

  23. I understand that this is digital, but this is a $* paid *$ for application, and it’s almost 2 full minutes in delay to my base local scanner radio at home. That’s not a very big deal to some, unless you’re listening with delay, that could be the difference between life an death to someone if anyone using this app can help. The Invasive auto updates are super annoying as well. Fix those problems and you have an A+ rating. 3/5 stars.

  24. I highly suggest you get the pro version. It is so much better than the ad version. The only time the scanner ever goes down is when the person providing the feed disconnects. It works flawlessly otherwise. I was a beta tester on the other version and decided to get the pro and am very glad I did.

  25. Great app! Been using it for several years, and have been very pleased with its functionality. Developer is constantly doing any needed updates. I have only had one issue, which was related to an older phone I was using, and developer quickly assisted me and fixed my problem. I highly recommend this scanner app!

  26. Unfortunately it appears that ( St. Clair County Illinois) feed is either down & states scanning or it indicates that your online, but there’s no audio. Ironically prior to me upgrading for $3.00. I wasn’t experiencing these problems. Other then no ads I’m not sure what’s the benefit of purchasing. The other aggravating issue is that when i select report a problem & select to enter my email address for notifications, etc. I have NEVER received any information from the site, etc. as a follow up

  27. I love this app! Great for when I want to find out what’s happening in my town without having to go through all the hassle of going online. With the voluminizer feature it makes listening loud and crystal clear! I love the record feature too! It sure beats when I was a kid listening to the old scanner in my grandma’s kitchen, now I can listen to it anywhere!

  28. I purchased this app a few years ago and I’ve had several new phones since then and it’s worked great on everyone of them. if your going to download this app it’s worth it to purchase the pro version, it’s a one time charge for a few dollars. Once you purchase the pro version it’s yours forever no matter how many times you delete and re-download it. The pro version has some great features like the ability to create and keep recordings. I definitely recommend it!

  29. Great collection of broadcast the seem to have minimal delay when compared to source broadcast. Nice collection of color themes. Can record broadcast, and that is great if you’re not interested in or able to download from an archive. Ads in free version were very annoying, so I used credit from Google opinion rewards surveys to buy the pro version.

  30. I really like this app, you can listen to channels around the country in different cities when something happens and get a idea of what’s going on. As long as there is a active channel in that area. It helps with local areas also especially for instance when there’s bad weather. I’ve had the app for a long time and I’m very pleased with it.

  31. Billy H dice:

I’ve had this app for a few years and only recently I get an error connecting because the server isn’t responding. I expect that there is high traffic with the riots and all, had I known this would happen I would’ve just stuck with the free version since I’m sure free version connects to the same servers. 3 stars because it’s always worked in the past.

  32. this app is pretty good. giving it 4 out of 5,b/c I’m not able to score it 3.5/5 so I rounded up.. it’s pretty simple. I was going to say “basic” but I figured people would’ve interpreted that the wrong way.. I decided to try the pro version of this because after using the free version, I couldn’t take having to listen to canned Ads every time I opened the app when I was trying to get updates or figure out the broadcast on the hot shot feed for LA county….& at $2.99, how could u not??

  33. Jason M dice:

Can i go back to the free version? Scanners will go offline for no reason. Then they come back, but there’s an echo, so everything is said twice. Which is funny, because dispatchers usually repeat themselves, so on here you’d hear everything 4 times. AND STOP WITH THE #@$%ING NOTIFICATIONS. I’m about to delete this piece of 💩 app. DON’T WASTE YOUR $!

  34. was having directory issues with the scanner. Gordon responded very quickly and explained what was causing the issue. With the information sent, I was able to get back in service. Thanks so much for the expedited reply and solution. 5+ stars

UPDATE so I figured out finally after using pro a yr about, prob I have between pro vs ur free vers is def a weaker network signal (avg strength -113 dBm 27 asu) my newest 5g note 10 plus 5g device does do same Ill b listening & dont hear anything then realize its cuz it disconnected but I have 2 reopen & press stop/start to get it back even tho I have it set 2 notify me when disconnects (never does). My old S8+ it did notify but I had free vers. Thats why I kept saying pro wasn’t as good free v

  36. works great. no skipping or breaking up over the frequencies I choose. and totally worth the 3$ (2.99$) get more channels. super satisfied with the following service.

  37. This is by far the best Scanner app out there and I’ve tried a lot. I got Scanner Radio Pro because I know I will be listening alot!

  38. This is a great app when it works. The volume of the feed I listen is so low I can barely hear it with headphones. To report a problem you have to sign up to broadcastify, which I have done but I can’t find the report a problem button. I can listen to other feeds just fine.

  39. It’s cool to hear real time happenings, but I wished it had a 30 min review sometimes I enter in the middle and don’t know what the call start was. Or I hear local fire hall alarm..turn on scanner and still not sure . It would be nice if it had a 30 min review of previous happenings.

  40. I have pro for years worked fine, now widgets dont work I have installed and reinstalled, still doesn’t work. Radio works fine, but widgets, none of them do

  41. Not really entertainment considering the serious nature of most of the events, but perfect for scanner listeners and those of us interested in staying on top of emergency services events! Thanks for a great app!
