I needed to send money to overseas. I saw this app. When I download and checked I will not able to send the money in dollars but they have really good exchange rate for the first transaction. I put my info and send it. Then I realized exchange rate was not the one described. Sending $40K should not cost around $400. I cancelled the transaction but now I need to wait 10 days so I can get my own money back. This is ridicioulus. Pay attention exchange rate.
I first gave remitly 5 stars because my first few transfers went through within minutes, no problem. But now I’ve had a transfer stuck somewhere for two days, and remitly support is no help. They just keep saying they sent the money on and it’s stuck at their partner sender and to just wait. I don’t care whose fault it is, remitly needs to refund my money and deal with the problem themselves! Would not recommend this money transfer app
Money sent ok. But first successful transfer was supposed to be free and it was NOT. All mobile transfers are supposed to be free and it was NOT (same transfer as above). Displays senders full name (not added nickname – what’s the point?) to recipient. Fee was only $1.50 but I left PayPal after 21 years due to mistrust with the transfer service.
I’ve been using Remitly for about a year. The app was working fine, but lately, it’s been forcing me to keep all the cookies enabled. Also, the app is opening in my browser, and if I don’t accept all the cookies, it doesn’t work. It seems like the app is either not working properly or it’s hacked. I’m not feeling comfortable using this app anymore. I advise other users to be cautious as well.
The app is really convenient to send money directly to your overseas accounts. But they charge you per transaction most of the time. On top of that, the exchange rate they give you is way lower than the current exchange rate. For example, I send money to the Dominican Rep. If the exchange rate is 58 per dollar remitly will give you 56. Might not sound like a lot, but send 500+, and you will see my point.
The WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE ever. I’ve been using it for a year using it for many transactions. But recently when I had an issue (I chose Express service, supposed to be Within 4 hours as on their advertising, but turned out 5 days as the Economy service), I tried to called few times to find the answer, they Kept Putting me on Hold for more than 15mins, and when I tried to reach out to them, they just Ignored me so that I would hang up the phone myself. Tried to speak to a supervisor, no news
App is very easy to use, delivery is fast, reliable and secure. It’s also amazing how they try to reply to each and every review posted here! One thing though, I found about 3-4 competitors that offer way much higher exchange rates (usd to php) as much as $1.30 higher! This tempted me to try other services, even if delivery is not as fast. If Remitly will be competitive in this area, surely they will be the best.
The app is fairly easy to use and gives a good exchange rate, but a few things don’t add up, though: The fee for sending money with economy or express is the same ($4.99. Which is kind of high, considering other apps). It should be cheaper if is going to take 6 whole days to get to the other bank. Also, they say express takes 4 hours, when in reality it takes more, almost a full day. This is very inconvenient, in case you have to send money for an emergency to a family or friend in need.
Installed it and the app offered a promotional exchange rate. I got all the way to the last page. When I hit the Send button, they suddenly told me that rate wasn’t available to me anymore. They told me it was only available to first time users…but I WAS a first time user?? I had to contact support for them to tell me that it was removed because of some household policy regarding 3 accts attached to one address. This is extremely aggravating design. The UI needs to be better
I am a long time user of Remitly. I am very happy with this service, but the newest version of the App is annoying. When you are done using the App, you can’t shut it off easily. I swipe up, which brings up options on every other App on my phone, except Remitly. I have to swipe down, and bring up my phone’s settings options, then go to my home screen from there. This needs to be corrected, like yesterday. Hijacking People’s web browser is not a path to satisfied users.
I really liked remitly at first. It was easy to use and reasonable sending fee. The recipient received transfers within minutes in their bank account, but recently there has been problems and I’m needing to contact customer service. I paid the fee, but the transfer doesn’t go through right away and the status is “In Progress”. So what is the point of paying $3.99 for express when it’s not express?! It’s very inconvenient. I need to look for a new app to send money.
I’m changing my review. This application is really good, and Customer Service is exceptional. I got disconnected and they called back. There is a major flaw with the “Send Again” button. I was looking at a transaction I made the day before and the Send Again button is on the screen and it’s large and really easy select. And I don’t recall getting a confirmation prompt that let’s you know you are sending a duplicate transaction and it processes IMMEDIATELY. MAJOR 🐛 🪲 bug
Customer Service is on point. I’ve had to call a few times over the years, mostly because of the destination bank having issue on their own side. I’ve used chat and phone call, they answered immediately and its a real person. That never happens in this world so that impressed me. Thank you. Rating 4 star instead of 5 because I did have to call to resolve the issue.
Remitly, as described in many reviews below, is too aggressive and rather wrong-headed about its “security” approach. I agree that they do the right thing to verify sender and recipient info. But they collect so much information, then suspend your account with no reason given, and you are locked out of their service. If you started any transactions, they are cancelled, so the reason you wanted to use their service in the first place is no longer available, AND YOU DON’T KNOW WHY.
Was the best app for sending money internationally. Simple. Quick. Intuitive. Reliable. I recommended it to all my friends and family. Now I will not. They recently froze my account with no warning. I asked them to review and they replied they have reviewed and can not reactivate my account. I asked for a reason why and all they said was I violated their user agreement. No further details how. Unprofessional. I’ll find better and Remitly can cash me outside how bow dat.
Use anything but Remitly! I only used it at the request of someone in Mexico. I spent an hour entering information, snapping photos of my license, and entering recipient info. After all was said and done, I was “deactivated”. I have a perfect credit rating, and called to find out why.. They merely said my account was not approved. I am left with the impression that the app is merely a vehicle for collecting personal information.
What a waste of time putting all my info in to set up an account and have every transaction cancelled. Tried three different payment methods and every one rejected. Jumped on Western Union and goes through on the first try. Security is one thing….failure to provide the basic service you set out to provide is another. Never use this service again.
It was a little painful at first but it’s all great from here on…. Update: I don’t use remitly anymore, it’s not worth the hassle. I remember I had a lot of problems with them when I was using remitly for money transfer. I am now using WorldRemit and I am very happy with WorldRemit!!! High exchange rate and transfer in minutes, plus they can email and or text your recipient.
I really enjoyed using Remitly due to its easy and user-friendly interface. It has proven to be a reliable platform. However, I have noticed that the widget feature, which was extremely helpful for quickly checking the destination price, has been removed in the recent update. I genuinely miss this feature and wonder if there is any possibility of bringing it back.
Matt your App Sucks! I understand security but I question all the requested info and after all of that, the transaction was on hold. Not as good a PayPal, but hear it has issues in Kenya. Ended up using WorldRemit and it was quick easy and transaction happened in minutes with no hold. I don’t recommend this app or service! Now will have to wait 10 days to see if my $10.00 is credited and refunded back to me! 🤬🤬🤬
