Wordscapes is really fun, there were a few changes that I did not suspect, but, all in all, it’s amazing. I think the adds are reasonable, you can watch them to get coins. The levels are fun, and as you go on get more challenging, but not impossible. There are little pets, I love mine and think they are an excellent addition to the game. Really love this game.
Are there ads? Yup. Most are able to skip after about 3 seconds unless you are trying to earn more coins. Am at level 500 and none of the puzzles repeat. Words repeat, but that’s to be expected. I only give a 4 because most of the design is more kiddish, but so far so good otherwise.
Waaaaayyy too many pop-up ads. I love the game but I had to uninstall it. I dont mind a few ads, but I felt like I was spending one third of my time shutting the game down to restart it again because the ads were not only numerous but too long. Nice brain exercise if you can tolerate the intrusions.
I played Wordscapes for a while, then got bored with it and quit. Lately, I’ve been seeing Wordscapes ads pop up in another app and the ads are designed with an X in the corner that doesn’t close the ad, but links to Play Store to download Wordscapes. So, while I’m here against my will, you get a 1 star review. Congrats on your deceptive ad. Oh, and I’m uninstalling your useless game.
The game is great! However, the ads hinder the experience greatly. I clicked on the button to close out of an ad and it automatically downloaded the app in the ad onto my phone without even going to the Google play store (it was a “breaking news” app). Sketchy stuff.
I just lost everything. 3 + years of playing. Everything I had earned is gone. Even the ‘no ads’ I had paid for. This, after the game crashed and shut itself down every 2-3 days, and the animal/egg side game never worked right. I would collect thousands of heart gems, but it never unlocked. This has been one of my favorite games, and now I’m not sure if I want to start over.
Ads are one thing, but even muted they stop my podcast and don’t even start it back up when they end, so I leave the app to start them playing again, and so the game launches ANOTHER AD. Which stops my podcast, so I leave the app to start the podcast and rinse and repeat. This game is not worth battling with podcasts and ads for. Include ads, whatever, but more intrusive ads don’t help anyone. It’s annoying. I’ll install a less demanding word game
The game itself is fun & challenging. You can pick it up and game for a bit. My issue seems to be with 2 things: 1) the ad’s 90-95% of the time can’t be closed unless I close the entire game (which can remove the game progress I just completed if I close out the stuck ad too quickly). *I have made sure my app is fully up-to-date 2) the MANY challenges seem to require you to play for a very long time/most of the day/hours (take your pick), which means I basically can’t complete them in time
A fun little anagram crossword game. Im in the 700 level range now & have a few critiques. 1. My biggest thing is the consistency of the prizes – for example – the game is doing a ” jurassic journey portrait” post xmas. Sometimes this feature is there, and other times its not? I dont know if its a game glitch. 2. Redunacy of the “prizes” to collect is sort of annoying. Collecting butterflies / dinos / & another mystery portrait thing? And collecting animals? Just seems all over the place.
This used to be a 5 star game for me, but recently the ads have gotten so aggressive and it’s just killed it. There are countless 20-30 second ads with multiple videos and screens you have to close out of that will trick you into redirecting to a separate webpage or the play store. Sometimes I spend longer watching ads than on a puzzle. Ads are fine, but not when they’re shoved down your throat like you’re on a sketchy website or something. Clearly I’m not the only one who has noticed this.
Connecting to FB only preserves your game level. I had a ton of boosts/hints etc, but I lose those every time I play on a different device. I now have none when I had dozens. I don’t really ever use those so I’m not counting off more for that, but this has been an issue for years, Wordscapes needs to fix it.
I got this app to kill time before bed and I really enjoy it. Yes, there are ads but they aren’t very long. It’s relaxing and simultaneously at the same time. I’m able to get my mind off of things that stress me out or excite me (none of which can do anything about immediately) and just relax. If you don’t mind the ads every 4-5 levels, it’s a good download.
This game is extremely predatory. Even after spending money on it to get rid of ads, there are regular pop-ups to buy more in-game resources. These appear over the same area of the screen where certain play buttons usually are, so it’s common to click on the “purchase” button because you’re expecting to press “play.” At least the confirmation screen let’s me cancel out, but it’s almost daily that this issue happens
App hasn’t been working correctly since the fall. Other reviews show ever since 23 it has had this problem. I started experiencing problems around Thanksgiving. When I open the game my screen turns black and I can’t play the game. Other reviews share the same problem my guess is that it is Android phones that have this problem. PLEASE 🥺 fix this problem soon. I love this app but the glitches are annoying.
Wonderful game! This is actually a really good exercise for your brain! I have been playing this game for ages and had a data issue recently where my progress reset to 0. My biggest issue beyond this was that I was seeing ads again despite paying for no ads years prior. I just had to shoot them a message and I was basically back to where I left off. My experience with customer support was smooth and simple and very very much appreciated.
The game itself is fun and exercises your brain. The tremendous downside I have found is that ads sometimes will not complete so I can’t get back to the game, the ads will continue to a new screen when the “x” is hit or there is no way to return to the game after some ads. I have chosen not to pay for ad-free games, but feel the ad should play out and then return me to the game, or the “x” to stop and return should be working.
I have been playing Wordscapes for over 3 years and really like it. A couple weeks ago an annoying fox showed up. I tried to get rid of it, but was unable to. I finally deleted the Wordscapes app and installed it again. Everything was normal on my re-installed app. I had to start with the easier levels, but was dealing with it. I was so happy not to see the fox and icons. Then, today the fox was back. I am so disappointed you have done this, I may not.play anymore. Please get rid of the fox.
I get it. You live off the ads. But it has become ridiculous. Ads at the beginning and end are fine. But to be constantly interrupted during a game, mid-word!, not just once but 3,4,5 times in a row makes Wordscapes very unpleasant. I think I’ll skip this for a while and see if you fix this.
Very entertaining game. Relaxing. Causes you to use your mind, word creation skills. At times, it does get frustrating due to application “locking up”. I did have to open a support request one time due to the fact that one of re “lock ups” caused me to lose all my data. The support tech was able to restore my coins / points and the Level I was playing at the time. However, I lost all my crowns and daily puzzle event.
This game used to be a lot of fun, then they started adding things. The animations taking way too long used to be my only issue, now I’m taking care of animals (not optional) and collecting butterflies and other things (optional). This game was about word puzzles and beautiful pictures, now it lacks an identity and the beautiful imagery is gone.
The ads make it near impossible to play as the close button has a very small x. I spent a minute trying to close the ad because it kept opening candy crush even when I clicked on the x. This is a fun game, but I’ll be moving to a different one since the ads have gotten so out of hand. Finish a level, here’s an ad. About to start a level, here’s an ad. Just finished an ad, here’s a message about buying more in-game coins using real money.
I used to love this game but the ads are ridiculous. I can’t go more than two levels before one starts up and then the exit icon is so small I end up redirected to the playstore of some garbage glorified billboard thats even less functional than this one. There’s no way to turn them off and they eat so much data. If I wanted to waste that I could just play solitaire in Google Chrome All I want is something relaxing to do 😡 Edit: No, there isn’t a little shopping cart icon Believe Me I Looked
Great brain boosting game 🎯. Was awesome until latest update. Don’t like the animated animals, not for adults, this update took away the maturity of the game, also the game won’t stay open it keeps closing before you get the chance to play. Very disappointed ☹️ with the update. Last version was not broken, new update is a waste of time. Hope I can find something I can enjoy as much as I did with the old version.
I’ve been playing this game regularly for a few years now, so I’ve seen this game get progressively more gimmicky over the years and over the updates. This latest iteration is just littered with mini-challenges and icons and distractions. They should’ve stopped with the weekend and daily challenges. The butterfly and key challenges are irritating. And It honestly takes away from the original objective of the game, which is a simple and fun crossword game with gorgeous landscapes as backgrounds.
In terms of actual gameplay, Wordscapes is really nice and relaxing. It’s the only game I’ve continuously kept. However, they keep adding more and more gimmicks to make you play: butterflies, and binoculars, and now these wildlife eggs. It’s becoming overwhelming. So many animations! So many buttons to click and quests to complete! I miss the nice relaxing game. The now pressure this puts on me to play, the less I find I want to.
Giving 3 stars now because of the most recent update. The game is basically unplayable currently because it crashes every few words or freezes up when trying to make a word, then crashes. I hope they fix it soon. Like many others, I had no issues with it prior to the new update that added animals. Will readjust rating when fixed. Thanks for the nice app, guys. 👍 Edit: I’m not sure why folks are complaining about the animals that were added. You don’t have to do anything with them at all…
I love the game and the fact you can pick it up and play awhile, then put it down for awhile and not loose out. But lately I can’t recommend this game. It keeps loosing connection with their server even if I have a internet connection. The game freezes often, sometimes in the ads that are shown between puzzles. How can you play in the online competition if you can’t even see how many more items you need before moving up a spot.
This game is a fun way to pass time, but it suffers from some similar traps that many might find annoying: Constant requests for money to buy more in-game coins, needless tournaments with little reward and no way to opt out, and now some kind of integration of an animal to take care of? All I wanted was a word game that wasn’t riddled with ads. The game would be greatly improved with a way to just opt out of the useless extras, and a more comprehensive dictionary/lexicon.
I really like this app. But when I try to open it up to play, it keep going black screen, and it never return to a open screen. So i close the app and wait, then return to open it and it do the same again. I have restart the game and lost all my points. I’m very tired of it, I planning to uninstalled, it just a hassle and very troublesome.
The latest update with the new creature feature is distracting and makes the interface look busy and cheap, with a side glitch of bumping a player to a different individual tournament if updated during a tournament. Not a fan at all. One of the reasons I liked this app is it’s simplicity, images and the team play feature. Our team was in the middle of a tournament and the creature feature was exceedingly distracting and annoying to most of us. Note to the developers: MORE is not always BETTER.
I know developers need to make money, but an ad sometimes after every round? Let’s get real. It really should be ad free until the ads can be incorporated in a way that works and doesn’t lead to black screen and having to force close the game to fix. And while you’re at it lose the ads where you have to hit the micro x multiple times to skip. Maybe start reading your reviews. Obviously there are issues when all review are basically the same.
Unplayable. Like many others, I have played for years. Love the daily puzzles, ect ect, but have barely even gotten a chance to play since the wildlife update. If I try to get my daily reward, it crashes. If I try to play, I can get about a minute of laggy playtime before it crashes. The time it takes to load is longer than the time I get to play. If I ever get to play again, I’ll update my rating.
Recent glitches in the game have made it impossible to play. As soon as the game starts to open the screen goes black. I cannot report to support because game won’t even open. It seems it’s trying to go straight to an ad since many times, in between levels, it blacks out when starting a new ad. I uninstalled and reinstalled the game app, sacrificing all of my accumulated coins and hints and it’s still going black. Very dissappointed since this has been my go-to game for years.
I have played this game for ages, but it’s getting extremely annoying. Some of the ads have sound while playing the game. I’ve been able to ignore the constantly motion at the bottomof the screen, but to hear them is awful. The other thing I’ve gotten is a lot of pop-up ads into my browser during play when I’ve touched nothing. I’ve got pop-ups blocked in my browser, but they still happen. I hate you greedy, sneaky people who are ruining what used to be my relaxing time.
I USED to LOVE this game. But now, not so much. The new addition of taking care of animals is childish and distracting. An 8 year old would think the bird is cute. I’m an adult who finds word building fun and enjoys looking at photos of beautiful scenery and natural wildlife. That is why I chose Wordscapes. Please allow your users to choose their preferred version.
Continually rapid fires banner ads at the bottom of the screen, some of which auto-click and load into your browser (without even touching the screen!), which is both unethical and unsafe. App developers do not care about user safety. Do not use this app until they fix this problem. Of course, that would require losing out on ad click revenue, so… we’ll see.
We should be able to choose if we want the Wildlife feature or not. I’d rather not have it and just have the old, regular homescreen back. I don’t need a bunch of animals and cartoons on my game. I just want the landscapes and the puzzles. I keep getting notifications about “feeding my blue jay.” I find myself rarely coming on the app anymore because of it. Might uninstall if nothing is done about this childish nonsense.
This has been one of my favorite “go to bed” games for years, but the new wildlife update looks like a sketchy Facebook game and just ruins the ascetic. I loved Wordscapes because it was simple and relaxing, but all of the ugly animals, in-game currencies, and pop-ups has really spoiled my enjoyment. I would love for an option to return to what the game was six months ago so I don’t have to leave a bad review, but here I am so annoyed that I am doing just that instead of falling asleep.
I am so close to uninstalling this game. The game itself is great, and I don’t even mind the ads between levels. What’s pissing me off is the constant ads that force me to close the entire app and restart it due to the lack of “x” to close ot out. I even tried to hit the back button on my phone and that didn’t work either. I litterally have to close the whole app and it happens several times. Fix the issue and I will gladly change my rating to a 5 star.
Fun, but occasionally frustrating. The dictionary is so limited that many words aren’t recognized. This limitation also means many of the levels are repetitive and you can tell the algorithm favors certain words. But, it’s good for slowing my brain down when it gets a bit chaotic in there. Plus, it’s fun!
