  1. This is one of the best apps like your previous one with the Opera GX the other one I had a few issues here and there but this one seems to fix a lot of it. It’s so much better to listen to music on YouTube with this app when using the YouTube since they’ve been using a lot more ads and their videos to a point upon skippable ones constantly being shoved in your face. Only encountered a few issues freezing mayor of a minor though it opens up a new tab everytime I try to use it. It’s really good.

  2. Prior to a recent update Opera would continue to download files in the background. After a recent update it appears to stop downloading, and/or quickly report download failure if I open a different app. I should add that this isn’t the same thing as when the app has to re-start because of some sort of OS memory management. When I go back to the app it(the app)appears to still be running, it just isn’t downloading anymore. It generally starts downloading again when I return to the app.

The browser is pretty amazing. The amount of personal customization is amazing. I do wish there was a way to group tabs. I’ve had other browsers that allow that so it took a while to get to used not being able to organize or group multiple tabs. I read books so I have several tabs open at a time and it’s just a little inconvenient not being able to do that. Other than that, this app has become my number one browser to use.

Opera has to decide if this is for tablets or for Chromebook. And since last update 2 days ago, it’s been buggy. The screen will black out just on Opera and so on. Strange. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled and same thing. For instance, going on accuweather dotcom and trying to browse pages, it will just blackout with inability to do anything else!

Great app, extremely pleasing to the eye, and prioritizes safety and convenience. Has some pretty cool features within the browser that improves any users experience. Great resource for gamers, organizers, or for people who love customizing every ounce of their device. This browser is insanely addictive once you set it up to your liking. Has certain features that you would originally have to pay for in other browsers, so you don’t need to force yourself to spend money to get a premium experience

IMO, Opera’s best feature: zoom reformats text to stay contained on the screen. This prevents you from having to scroll horizontally to read it when zoomed in. I’ve found no other Android browser that does this. Opera’s worst feature, IMO: pull-to-refresh. It is EXTREMELY irritating to accidentally refresh and irretrievably lose a chat history you wanted to save. EDIT: just discovered that “pull-to-refresh effect” can be disabled under opera://flags/. Upgrading to five stars.

  7. Opera is a great browser, thought it sucks up a lot of storage space. Been having an issue, when I do a Google Image Search through Opera, when I hit the BACK key return from a website, the Google Image Search page is blank. I just downloaded the Google Store Update for Opera thinking that would fix the problem, but it’s still an issue.

  8. Opera keeps crashing lately. It’s been a good and reliable browser for me until yesterday. Since last night, it just keeps crashing. I’ve cleared the cache, but it still crashes. Is this being addressed and how soon will the bug be fixed? May have to delete and reinstall to see if that does the trick.

This browser is great! Out of the big name browsers, it’s one of the smallest, yet it includes a bunch of features, to include the ability to have background playback (like brave), even though this functionality is not advertised. I’d like for the opera team to perfect this feature and the feature to have night mode on every page (like brave), but for now, everything it does, it does well. Thanks. Edit: please make it so that changing the text size changes the size of all texts in the website.

  10. I’ve been using opera for over a year now, I love it. Latest update added some cool new features, mainly the background selection. I love the idea, but it’s made the app load significantly slower on opening. It lags for like a solid 2 seconds when opening it because it’s trying to load the wallpaper. I’ll leave it at 3 stars until the lag is fixed or the feature is removed, hoping it can be resolved while keeping the feature!

  11. For a long time the only reason I kept using Opera after the switch away from Presto was because it’s one of the only browsers with a universal night mode and image compression. But in the past couple years it has improved by leaps and bounds with lots of privacy oriented features and customization. Easily better than Chrome and certainly faster than Firefox. I’d love to see the return of more gestures and browsing optimizations but I can safely recommend it for just about any device.

  12. Really good, but adblocker is a little bit lacking. Many banner ads are still visible, even with “allow acceptable ads” option off. Many on tap ads will still appear, though it happens very infrequently. Other than that, this app works great. Ad blocking is a bit of an arms race at times since websites constantly find ways to bypass it, so it’s definitely understandable why I still find ads. The other features work great, and it’s overall a good browser and way better than Chrome.

  13. While I think the Opera mobile browser has many fantastic features, I feel that I need to dock a few points because the browser claims “Private” right in the title but had multiple anti-privacy features hidden behind multiple menus in ways that might not be obvious to users. The initial welcome flow allows you to disable some of them, but not all, and doesn’t tell you that there are more default settings (e.g. telemetry, news feed) that must be changed manually to actually preserve privacy.

  14. Not useful on a chromebook. There is no bookmark manager. The best one can do is read in an html file from a full featured windows browser like for example Opera, so almost useless here if you make use of bookmarks. The zoom feature also doesn’t work on my chromebook. The built in VPN is great, though it turns off all data saving and going back to an already open tab causes it to re-download the page in it’s entirety which makes the browser sluggish. It needs a lot of work.

  15. John M dice:

Hands down this my favorite browser for Android. I like all of the features like choosing what is cleared when closing, the option to “shut down”, find words on a page, and more. The design is easy to get get around. That said, I’m not a fan of sponsored sites showing up in my speed dial, but at least Opera does not force me to keep them (that would be a deal breaker).

  16. This is a great browser but we need an update for ad blocking because a lot of sites have found a way to circumvent the restrictions or forcing us to turn off the adblockers. An example is Netnaija who have made it compulsory to turn of adblockers to be able to download. Please you guys should give us a strong update. I know you can do it!!! 🙏🙏🙏😭😭 This app has also been very buggy recently. The app closes any music playing in the background. Kindly fix this.

I would like to use Opera browser, however there’s a problem with a feature of this browser that I never use- the “back up and sync” feature-ALL TABS for “History, open tabs & bookmarks and Speed-dials”- are all in turned “On” position, and the tabs are grayed-out, and I cannot access them to turn them off because they are grayed-out ( which IMO, Is a major security issue) even with uninstalling then reinstall of app…

  18. I love using this browser on my phone or tablet, but I really don’t care for it on my Chromebook or PC. I’ve tried pretty much every version and I think I like the “regular” one best. Setting my own wallpaper is a big selling point. (Some versions don’t allow it and GX tends to “zoom in” too much.) I can keep the screen-clutter down by using Bookmarks as opposed to Speedials, but I can’t seem to shake that search bar for anything. (Top of the screen instead of the middle is helpful though.)

  19. Joe Fort dice:

This is a good browser but it lacks some basic features such as the ability to save a link to your home screen, move your page forward, if you accidentally hit the back button, bookmark doesn’t save pages and a few other features. The main reason I downloaded this was because of the free VPN this app offers. At least half of the websites I went to and I tried to use the VPN, it would not work I went in or fall it all the directions to make it work, but that didn’t help. Very disappointed.

  20. Unfortunately I had to delete the app from my tablet as the web pages kept going blank as soon as I began scrolling down. No amount of refreshing would correct the problem. I just haven’t the time for the unreliability. Many years of this browser on my PC with no problems but this was happening no matter the website. I hope you can fix it and will give it another shot down the track. I still gave 3 stars as I believe it’s a glitch.

  21. Anna G. dice:

New update has caused the app to frequently “white-out” in the middle of reading a page, necessitating closing the app and starting over. Backing up or refreshing will still result in a completely white screen. None of my other apps have ever done this. *** PS: Thank you for your feedback. I have discovered that if I am scrolling up or down and inadvertently apply a slight movement to the right or left my screen becomes irretrievably white leaving only the address bar visible.

  22. Overall, this is a great browser. The only one I found that reformats text to fit a zoomed window. One big flaw is backups. Syncing let’s you backup but not restore, so far as I can tell. Why can’t Opera have a simple bookmarks export/import/backup/restore function. Opera’s method is, to be blunt, not very useful. That said, a recent update had a bug, but upon reporting it, the developers quickly fixed it. A kudos to them for that.

  23. Flow is a main reason for my choosing Opera over other browsers. It allows me to save various links on my Android devices, than I can explore them further on my Windows desktop. However, it seems rather finicky & sometimes won’t work on the desktops (Windows 7 & 10, both signed in) – sometimes ‘running out of memory’ even on 32G RAM or just forever fetching without displaying anything. Please fix it ASAP & introduce a way to save or export Flow’s contents to external txt/html file Thx!

  24. Better than most browsers. However, since HTML5 took over from flash, I find almost every video viewed in it crashes multiple times and often ruins a movie experience. Though strangely, when a “friend of mine” watches adult content videos it never crashes (different codec?). But for movies, the page will be fine, but the space where the video should be just constantly crashes. It happens on desktop too, but is worse on phone or tablet opera. Also the adlock is fairly weak. Too many pop-ups

  25. I love this app (mainly on PC) and I always recommend it to my friends who don’t already have it yet, the only Con I can think of is the Bookmarks (mobile version). They can be annoying to navigate when looking for more than one bookmark and if you have a long list and or several sub folders, it can take a while to find what you’re looking for when compared to some other apps.

  26. The application will often continue to play videos and ads when it is used to open a hyperlink from another app, even after you close it. It doesn’t show up as a running application when you close it, so you can’t quickly force stop the audio. This requires you to close both applications. It’s really annoying. It also makes a new tab every time you click a link and doesn’t clear them automatically even when you reset your device… like, why? Better off not installing it.

  27. Opera is a fantastic browser, it’s fast and efficient with a sleek interface. The built-in VPN and battery saver mode are incredibly useful. The ad-blocker and customization options make it an enjoyable browsing experience. highly recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable and user-friendly browser. The problem I had has been solved thanks to the opera team.

  28. Hands down the best browser, the only thing that I don’t like is that youtube volume is really lower than the youtybe app I thought my phone’s speaker was faulty or something but it turns out it’s the browser, I hate the youtube app that’s why I use the browser. Update: I bought a new phone and the app doesn’t work any more. Another update: it’s working now but I had to delete secure folder to solve the problem which is annoying.

  29. Ctrl _ X dice:

The VPN problem is gone, but it would be nice if the adblock also stopped redirects. It is also detected very easily by websites, which forces users to turn it off – unlike the an ablocker like for ex. Ublock Origin. Although an inbuilt adblocker is definitely nice, and quite rare among phone browsers, so 5 stars in that regard. There is also a weird problem in which the website you were redirected to (usually ad sites) stay in the address bar, so they come up when trying to search things.

  30. This app has become somewhat fantastic and I absolutely love it. The only downside is the downloading option — when I hit download button on webpages, I’ll have to wait for the download pop-up to download my contents before I can continue scrolling through other web pages. Failure to wait and I just might miss the pop-up. I’d like it if the download pop-up doesn’t close when we touch outside the download pop-up window. Thanks for this great app

  31. Been using this App for a few years now following years of Firefox being my go-to browser. However recently my homepage has ‘recommended’ links to dirty Web pages, eventhough the closest I have been to this is searching for pregnancy info! There appears to be no way to remove such types of recommended adverts/ links, and it’s not the sort of thing you want popping up when sharing your media device with friends/ family/kids! Sorry but this is now forcing me to look for an alternative browser! 🙁

  32. Kay Gozi dice:

I’m only giving it 3 stars because of the effectiveness of the adblocking. Also my phone is on Android 12 and I can’t save any page in offline mode. The app just crashes. Other than these problems, it’s very simple to use, fast and overall a good app. Please do something about the offline bug though.

  33. Loved it until the endless ads began annoying me after about a week of blissful use. What a way to ruin a great thing! Response to Developer: These ads popped up and you could not leave them without X-ing out and closing. They were not the news story ads, which can be turned off. You have a great browser here, but these ads are a no-go. Uninstalled.

  34. Opera saved my day. I was late for flight and forgot to print a document. I have digital version link but unable to download pdf file. Print button just doesn’t work on Chrome,Firefox. Finally I tried opera and get straight into pdf viewer and downloaded, print hardcopy in time. I don’t default this for privacy reasons but when something doesn’t work, Opera is my go to solution. Thanks Opera team. Bless ya all

  35. Ive been so stuck for so long that Chrome was the only browser for any android, but after i downloaded the Opera Browser, i cant believe how much faster it is, and how much smoother than Chrome. So far so good, I think its an awesome browser and very adjustable too. Thanks

  36. I’ve always loved opera browsers, but the competition just does things a little better, so maybe twice a year I’d download this browser, hoping that you’ve maybe caught up. Why can’t I play videos in the background yet? I almost had it as my default browser, but I started watching something only to have it pause when I attempted to add another tab, which is just a big no-no for me.

  37. Tanay dice:

Much better than other popular browsers I have tried all the browsers – Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Brave and Vivaldi – but none of them is as perfect as Opera for Android and Windows. The sync feature, reading mode on pages, ad and tracker blocking features are unparalled, and the browser still feels lighter and faster than all the leading browsers along with a simplistic beautiful UI. Loved the browser, keep up the good work team!

  38. Opera browser is Awesome, it’s so easy to use, great for work. The ad blocking features are quite commendable, it’s stable and it’s speed is incredible. The Data saver feature has never been more efficient. Now, it has a features the use of personal wallpapers, a nice touch of creativity, It’s a Job well done.

  39. Love the app, but it got hacked on Jan 15th. I woke up to find about 40 pages had been opened, mostly Instagram, eBay and Facebook login pages. A bot or person was trying to get into my accounts. Screenshots were saved to phone on every page. Luckily I have 2FA turned on so I was fine but they got in through opera. I otherwise love the app, but am unsure about security now

  40. Hmm, best browser out there, but latest version doesn’t work for me – pages just disappear when you try scrolling or zooming – just a single color empty background. That’s on Lg v20, Android 7.0… That worked, thanks for the prompt support, waiting for the new update…
