For some reason the sound got turned off, but there isn’t a place to turn the sound on or off through the app on my phone. I have tried EVERYTHING; undowloading and redownloading, gone through all settings on the app and my phone, read numerous articles and feedback from others, logged out of my account and signed back in, but nothing has worked. So now all the videos I watch do not have audio.
This app and a ton of others become obsessed with changes. When you’re watching shows for instance it doesn’t even stay on the same genre anymore and just dumps you off into some random videos. I think they’re losing sight of the main objective. The basic functions of what makes this app good. If you’re looking to make changes to the app, look in the past because you already had it.
This thing must have been made to encourage accidental touches on ads. I hate it. I have had so many interruptions to what I’m watching because I tried to adjust the volume, see the comments, change the angle, whatever: my show vanishes and I’m watching an ad. Not a mid show ad, but a whole new video. What then makes it worse is that there is no way to back to the video I was watching. Pushing the back button shuts down the app! Give us a way to easily go back to our video!
I pay for premium services which should allow me to play videos in the background, with the screen off, etc. Lately, videos will just cut off when screen is off and resume play when I turn it back on. For years, this has not been an issue until about the past few weeks. Once issue is fixed, I’ll adjust rating accordingly. Thanks.
Constant crashing. Sometime in the fall of 22 the app became extremely buggy. It crashes constantly. If I didn’t have premium and a bunch of downloads I would ditch the app completely. I have tried all the suggested steps but it is glitchy and buggy. Playing videos in the browser works fine. Playing them in the app is an exercise in frustration. It does the same with downloaded videos so it isn’t the internet connection. It worked fine in the summer.
Will increase my rating when they decide to program the app to stay in landscape mode instead of flipping back and forth, causing me to hit the wrong things. It’s almost 2023, there’s 0 excuse not to have this set up to stay on landscape. It makes going from one video to another a hassle because I either have to scroll sideways, or repeatedly turn my tablet, in its case that isn’t meant to be turned, back and forth to get it back to landscape. It’s ridiculous and annoying.
Couple things. 1. I use YT for music. When a music video I have in a playlist gets removed or privated, if I don’t remember what song it was, it’s just gone. There should be a way to view just the title of a removed video you had in a playlist. 2. This is something that is very new and it’s quite dumb & inconvenient. If I leave the app for more than 10 seconds, whenever I return to the app, it completely restarts and loses my video. And when I go back to my vid there’s always an ad. Plz fix. Thx
This used to be a great app. In the past week, any time I click into the middle section (seeing additional replies, thumbs up a video, etc), it glitches. It will blink and stutter repeatedly as it struggles to complete the action. Can’t click anywhere else in the app to get out of it too; have to exit the app and re-open each time for it to be functional again.
The user experience around ads has severely degraded recently. For some reason since the most recent update the video will play in the background while pre-roll ads are running, causing me to have to rewind to the beginning of the video after the ads are done. If I accidentally tap an ad, youtube now takes me to an isolated video of just that ad with no way to return to what I was watching. To add insult to injury, once I’m able get back to what I was watching, often it makes me watch ads again!
I depend on YouTube for most of my social career, but since the new update it is very prone to frequent crashing especially on mobile when it comes to editing your video. For example, when mentioning someone, the mention immediately stops working, I don’t know why this is. It also continues to break your description to a point where it’s beyond repair. Editing videos is a terrible experience now, and I really hope there is a way this can be fixed, because I can’t always resort to computer edits.
Ads, ads, ads, and more ads! I don’t know what’s changed in the last couple of days but the ads jumped up quite considerably. I had posted a review back in September and things got much worse! I can’t watch a 10 minute video without there being at least 4 ads surrounding it. Then there are ridiculous 15 minute ads too, so then you are forced to skip them. At this point, I refuse to buy anything from an ad that’s not skippable. It’s pretty extreme right now and hope that Google changes it!
I love youtube, I use it to watch my favorite youtubers virtually every day. It’s just the ads. Theses days the ads happen so much that it’s very infuriating. If it were different ads every time atleast it wouldn’t be so bad. But there’s like a select four of ads that repeatedly come up. It’s really annoying because they are not even skippable. Other than that this is an amazing app and I use it so much. It’s perfect for helping me learn piano songs by using Sheet Music Boss’s videos
So. Many. ADS!!! It used to be bearable, but now, if you’re watching a playlist, there are two ads before EVERY video, no matter how short the videos are! I probably spend more time listening to ads than actual content. They’re also screwing over creators and putting ads on videos for channels that aren’t monetized (in other words, not paying the artists whose videos they use to spread ads). It’s insane.
Operated and used for well over a decade, literally went to Youtube before there was an app or ads. I’ve always been satisfied with YouTube. That was up until yesterday when the pop out window stopped working. I’ve uninstalled the app and reinstalled, I’ve reset my phone as well as every setting I can think of and nothing. It no longer appears on top of anything even if there is no other app running. I’ll change my rating if/when this is fixed
Probably my most used social media app and the best app experience as far as social media goes. I’m giving it praise but I won’t say it’s perfect. The lastest ad model is really too much and in your face. I prefer the more discrete ads it use to have. Also app UI isn’t horrible. A few of the newest changes of look and feel. I do miss some of the previous versions that for example showed the manual quality controls more front and center. Other than small things I’m happy with it for the most part
Best app ever I can watch everything I ever wanted! One issue that drives me insane though, I have a tablet that I use daily. and everytime I try to watch a video on full screen it doesn’t work and it makes the video smaller with a black border around it. I have to switch my screen camera to landscape. I move around a lot so auto rotate does not work for me. I have watched YouTube on my dad’s phone it turns automatically when watching a video. I don’t know if its because of my device
Good thing these updates have made the app more reliable. Now I at least know for certain it will crash if I try to minimize & have it play in the background – no more question of that. And now there’s a fun game I get to play any time I watch a video; it involves me hoping the damn thing won’t arbitrarily crash while watching. Considering it has 4 times in as many hours, I’m losing. The new interface has apparently done nothing but tank it’s performance, & added useless & unwanted “features”.
I like the recent updates regarding the video chapter selection for the longer videos, but the ads forced me to sign up for premium. I am really bummed out about losing the option to sort videos by oldest videos first. A small thing, but I miss it. I like the fact that the new update lets me choose the thumbnail when uploading “Shorts” videos. That really helps to better showcase what the video looks like. Thanks for adding that feature.
I love the app but I swear it is so annoying when you’re just watching a video, and it freezes for no reason, then it kicks you out of the app saying “Youtube has stopped working” it changes but still, it is so annoying and you need to fix that, AND ON THE SIDE NOTE, the app it self is good, but I mean some ads are completely useless or they be in the way or other things. Please fix these issues, I look forward to see something like THIS change the app in the future.
It’s YouTube. I don’t know how to review that part. I can talk about the app itself, though. It mostly works perfectly. They take away features that you had access to for free like playing videos in the background to sell them back with Premium. I had premium anyway for desktop use, but it’s still unforgivable. They continuously remove features altogether, usually from the app first because it’s harder to get away with on desktop. Features like sorting by oldest. Give these features back.
Y’all…please stop with these updates. Every day it’s something new. Why. It was good and then you started ruining it. Don’t even get me started on ads. And after a while, the app just lags until it crashes. Anytime I open shorts, whatever was in my search bar is gone, making it so I have to search whatever It was again. Just. Stick. To. One. Version. For our sake. It’s getting annoying. You guys update way to much. The app crashes, I open it back up and, boom, new version. Be better.
PLEASE I BEG OF YOU, give us the option to alphabetize the “save video to”… playlists! You know, when you go in and you click save video, a list comes up, and you have to go find the list you want to save it to? For those of us who have a large amount of playlists, can spend half the video scrolling just to find the appropriate playlist. This has to be a simple thing to give us the ability to have those lists alphabetized automatically. It’s 2023 almost — pls add this feature! 😶
Although it has a large library of videos, the advertisements are terrible. I can understand an ad for 30seconds, but those that are 10 minutes long is just dumb. They make the experience entirely frustrating. Why should I pay a premium fee for something that is already frustrating to use. YouTube has morphed into something unpleasant to use. The funny thing is, if I visit a Caribbean country, the experience is actually pleasant.
Sometime in the fall of 2022, since then the app just hasn’t been the same, QUITE LITERALLY! The app is extremely laggy. I cannot use the app for more than 3 hours without it starting to lag an obnoxious amount! And the gray line on videos is basically pointless! It removes the gray line so I can’t watch videos offline. The app is extremely buggy, when I to go landscape it flips back and fourth, I’ve messaged support and they have done nothing! Absolutely horrible, I would not recommend this!
❗🔴ATTENTION🔴❗This is super frustrating!! On mobile, please bring back sort from oldest to newest!! It’s tiring to scroll for 10 to 15 minutes to find an older video on a channel!! Bring back the oldest to newest feature please! At this point I’m considering a different platform altogether if you don’t fix this issue. Also when I set the video resolution, keep it at that number! I don’t want to have to keep setting it every time I watch another video. It’s become very tedious and annoying.
I used to be able to use the draw over other apps function and the app would work perfectly regardless of whatever else I was doing on my device. Now, it constantly shuts itself down for no reason. Also, there are times where I’ll minimize the app – but when I go to open it again, it has restarted itself and takes down the video I’m currently playing and restarts my feed. This needs to be fixed.
Google continues their longstanding tradition of launching a great product initially, and then killing it with “bugfix” releases that add more bugs than they fix, until the software is basically unusable. And then they relaunch a new version that works for a while, and the cycle repeats. Picture in Picture is broken this time, placing the PIP window off the bottom of the screen (unless you open a keyboard, and then the PIP window is placed over the top of the keyboard).
The addition of shorts with no ability to remove them from your main feed is disgustingly addictive. The design of infinite scroll mixed with no means to remove the option for it to appear makes it all too east to fall into a several hour long trap of mindless scrolling. It is so incredibly addictive. I’m deleting the app because I always manage to fall into the loop that is intentionally designed to be easy to fall into. The shorts content is also usually low-quality and repetitive.
Constant changing videos because of haptics. You grab your phone, place it on the table, etc., YouTube senses the change and then plays an different video. There doesn’t see to be a way to go back to the previous video. It also shows older videos for more than a year ago, rather than the most recent content from the same author.
I used to never think about the functionality because YouTube had always been awesome. Now I have the Pixel 3 XL and every time I open a video, I can’t see it because the screen is grayed out with a control panel. I have to actually hit the X to clear it and that moves the video to the end and then i have to spend 10 minutes dragging the slider to the right spot. It’s been like this since I got the phone in October. NOW OVER A YEAR LATER, 12/3/19, STILL NO IMPROVEMENT
You know I really don’t have a problem with the app other than a glitch that pops up sometimes and that’s the layout on the UI of my subscription page and the icons will overlap each other making it look creepy. I don’t know if other ppl are having the same issue but I’ve noticed this only on the Galaxy Fold 4. Please fix this issue as soon as possible. Thank you.
I’m giving it 3 stars mainly because everytime that I go to the app. The app itself turns all black. I have to force stop the app several times a day inorder for it to load properly. Video quality keeps reverting to 480 or 360. When I clearly have it set to 720. When trying to watch videos in landscape mode. It rotates back to portrait which is an annoyance.
I just wish there was a restricted mode just for comment sections. I don’t want to see comments. Suggested videos (“people also watched”) when searching are bad and obscene. Removing mixes from libraries isn’t straightforward at all. The inability to keep the app in landscape mode is annoying. Take a break notifications glitch the app and make the video take up only half the screen like a computer. Overall it seems like no effort is put into actually making an enjoyable experience.
The last update had caused a lot of issues for me using an android, such as how the app functions when used in pop up, and any playlist you set to shuffle if you skip a video takes it off shuffle and just goes to the next song resting its order to how its set up normally rather than just playing the next song in the queue, if you have it in the minimized screen you can no longer skip ads. You have to open it back up skip the ad then reset to whatever you were doing before.
Poor management decisions have lead to too many long unskipable adds, sometimes in the middle of a video that never had adds previously. The shorts program never works first try. I am just so sick of the new advertising policies. Edit: I now have a blacklist board for the company’s that show their add too many times, or if the add is exceptionally low quality.
Granted, the majority of the videos I find/ watch can be good, however I always end up watching more ads than videos. Because who thought that it was a good idea to have two 15 second unskippable ads in videos? Its a waste of time and the most annyoing thing about this app. Like just the other day, I clicked to watch a couple of videos that were 7 seconds long, and I get a 15 second unskippable ad. This is ridiculous, stop forcing us to watch these ads and let us watch our videos.
I haven’t seen anyone with this issue yet, but since the update, English subtitles are gone now on all videos, the auto-generated ones. Every other language works fine, but no English ones. Instead, near the end of a video a wall of text appears for a second or two. This is the entire English subtitles for the video appearing all at once, instead of “as you go”. What the hell happened?! I know nobody will even care, I’m just venting. I can no longer watch foreign videos.
As everyone has I’ve always loved you. But quite frankly these advertisements that end up accidentally clicked and I have to go all the way back through my library just to get back to the song that I was on because you don’t offer the option of going back once you’ve accidentally clicked an ad terrible ruins the entire experience every time! I hope you can fix this because Pandora and Spotify are currently winning, shame on🤦♀️
No audio controls for Shorts! Google owns YouTube yet as a Google Pixel user there’s no volume control in Shorts when trying to add music. This means I can’t add music to my Shorts. I’ve researched this extensively and what should be a standard feature just doesn’t exist. It seems like it’s buggy on other types of phones but there are at least workarounds. Yet, on a Google phone, there’s no way to control the volume. Please fix this ASAP!
I’ll have two videos on my screen ( it doesn’t matter if it’s home or subscription). I’ll click the top one, and I’ve made sure not to press anywhere near the border, BUT it played the video below where i pressed. Sometimes, if I press on the bottom, IT STARTS A VIDEO OF SCREEN. It does this more often with ads than not, which is weird. I’m tired of not getting the video I selected, and it’s not just isolated to my phone. PS unskippable adds are getting more common sometimes double unskippable.
This app used to be great casting from phone to smart TV. You could glance at your lock screen to skip ads, using your phone like a remote for it. Unfortunately since they’ve updated, to get to the skip ad button you have to both unlock your phone and open the YouTube app to get to skip ad button. Can’t count how many times this has locked me into watching both ads missing the skip window on the first of two before it rolled into the next one.
It is appalling how billions use this app and how little it works properly. I have not been able to execute a single tiny action without literally fighting the apps ui. Literally have you guys even used your own app? Have you tried the remix feature? Desynchronized audio, icons overlapping one another preventing you from accessing them, constant glitches, its literally unusable half the time. Adding a song to a playlist should be a simple task, but no. I constantly have to fight the app.
Absolutely disgusting, the only reason anybody uses it anymore is because there’s no better alternative. Forces unneeded updates on people, like ruining the whole layout and everything that made youtube iconic, while ignoring real issues such as the scroll on mobile (the main thing people use to watch) comstantly going up when you touch the screen, launching the reccomended videos back to the top, or how half the time when you touch the screen it doesn’t respond, forcing you to restart the app.
The screen in screen, video plays while you do other things and listen/watch the video, is buggy. Will minimize, YouTube, but then will act buggy, can’t pause video, can’t move it to another location like I was able to before, can’t maximize video, all it does now is tries to hide near the bottom of my devices screen, or just disappears fully and I have to do so much just to get it to where I can back out of YouTube fully and then have to go back in just to watch a video. It sucks.
I’m a premium subscriber. EVERY single time I save a video to a list I have to go back THREE MORE TIMES and click the save button again to check what list the video was saved to. It will save it to the list I chose initially but when I go back and look again, it’s additionally saved to the previous list. It’s very frustrating. I’ve had the same results on two different devices over the last year or more. 🤬
I hated when two ads were implemented, but never before have I been more annoyed by the bugs this app has now. I constantly have the app stop working then crash… not much of a problem because if a crash occurs you can SOMETIMES resume the video at the time the crash happened. Don’t celebrate too soon though because you’ll have to sit through another two ads. Don’t even get me started on the ads that you normally can skip, sometimes not having a skip button. FIX THIS PLEASE!
My issues with this app are you turn on a.l video and cast to your TV, it plays for about 1 minute and then exits on it’s own. Sometimes it does it after a few hours, but It does it all the time. I try to disconnect the app from my TV and try again and it still does it. It’s very annoying especially since I use music to put my kid to sleep. The music quits and he wakes up.
I’ve learned that it’s not necessarily the app that is keeping you from enjoying it. After seeing friends and family use this app on many different platforms, and actually taking the time to learn how to navigate the app TO MY LIKING, (using it correctly) I enjoy almost every experience I have with it. Remember, old habits, in all aspects of life, can become frustrating. The more I use the app, the easier it is to see it really is better than I originally gave credit to.
YouTube used to be my favorite app and site, but now it is just unbearable to use. There’s awful advertising every 5 seconds, usually really weird advertising that I do not want to see at all. A lot of the time they wont let you skip them anymore. They added a paid subscription that it’s just too expensive and now the app is literally crashing constantly. I am so disappointed with modern YouTube.
YouTube is one of the greatest value creators of the last decade. I love it. But they also executed poorly on the offline watching experience, which is the number one reason I pay for premium. For example, when you watch a downloaded video, but your come back into an area where you have WiFi, you still can’t start to like, comment, or share that video despite being online. You literally have to close out the video and open it back up and find your spot again to share or save the video to a list!
Youtube has officially gone full retard. I have a playlist that tells me videos are unavailable, yet it won’t show me which ones they are and then I go through my list and every one plays. Also, my tv app gives me four videos on my recommended to choose from. The rest is utube movies and TV shows. Whoever is responsible for this needs to go back to school for another decade.
I can’t give this app any more than 1 star because it has a bug with picture-in-picture mode that locks all functionality outside the app. I know when this bug activates because when it goes into PiP, the video is black. If I tap back into the app, it pretty much locks me out of my phone. The buttons on the bottom of the screen don’t work. I can’t leave the app. I have had to restart my phone a few times now because of this bug. Pretty bad bug.
Everytime I smartcast and get disconnected, instead of giving me the option to stop trying to connect to a TV, it just keeps trying to reconnect so I can no longer watch my videos unless I am casting to my TV. This is ridiculous and I have no idea how this wasn’t previously a problem, but now it is. I am simply trying to listen to videos while I drive, but apparently that is too much to ask.
YouTube has always been really great, but recently when I try to watch a video, the screen has like a 60% opacity black overlay on it. You know how it goes dark when you push play or pause, and then it goes back to normal after a couple seconds? Now it won’t go away at all. So I can’t see anything because everything is dark and has the fast forward, rewind, and pause button in my way. Please fix?
Been using this for about 9 years and it craps out about twice a year. It’s been awful for about a couple months now and I’m really sick of it. It will stutter, skip, freeze, and completely lock up my phone until it lets me force close it. Closing the app yourself doesn’t work. It will brick my phone completely. This app is so buggy that it scrolls the opposite direction you’re trying to scroll. Literally the buggiest app I have ever used in my life. Constant bugs and crashes. Still garbage.
Terrible for a few months now. Not sure what update it was up but whenever it was it’s ruined the app. Autopsy no longer works, app consistently freezes whenever you comment on anything. Ads play every 30 seconds instead of what they usually were, sometimes you’ll skip an ad and less than 5 seconds later another is already playing. App has been destroyed since its updated and no longer is a necessity app to me.
Latest upgrade (Jan ’23) has messed up the comments section for videos. The ‘more’ button does not expand the comment anymore….and the ‘translate’ button no longer works. Hope this is fixed soon. This is across all videos, not just one. Also when coming back from an add, the captions turn themselves off sometimes and I have to select it again.
The youtube app has continued to get worse over time. Casting to chromecasts has become very inconsistent. There are times when they expect me to select an option on the screen but do not give a way to choose between the options. I assume this is related to them optimizing the app for TV’s with remotes.
Good app but it has some issues. Ran into an issue today where I was casting to my TV, apparently if you don’t disconnect from casting prior to leaving your home the app gets stuck trying to reconnect to where you were casting. I tried everything to stop it from doing that, restarted my phone, force stop the app, cleared the cache nothing worked. So just a heads up to the developers I think it would be a good idea to be able to click the cast button and hit disconnect even if it’s not connected.
I use the app every day to cast to my smart tv. Never had any issues until the last update. Now it stops casting for no apparent reason about every 5 minutes. I’ve done everything from rebooting the tv, uninstalling the app and reinstalling it, troubleshooting tests with my ISP, restarting my phone, you name it. Nothing works. Annoying how the app went to garbage practically overnight. Nice update.
It adds videos to extra playlists that you don’t want. Half the time it doesn’t let you choose which playlist and then ruins your individual lists with wrongly added videos, the change option doesn’t work and still stays in that list even after you choose change in the dropdown box. Youtube music is also horrible is supposed to show music not all my other regular videos. Please fix tech so it doesn’t suck. Make it so the features are smart and work.
I usually listen to youtube videos to sleep. But the past 2 nights I have found that after the video ends, the screen will stay on the whole night and I’ll wake up to a dead phone. I have checked my other apps and after a set duration of inactivity, the phone will go to sleep. But not for youtube when the video ends. I’ve only noticed this issue occur when I updated the app a few days ago. Autoplay is disabled, My watch history confirms youtube is the culprit. Any suggestions on how to fix this
To get yt on ones smart is exusting with no results, even using a cell phone. Also, following your instructions trying to find the Chromecast icon to link with the tv code is not an option! Trying to get YouTube on a smart tv isn’t worth the exusting effort, which is what people have been saying, we didn’t believe them but will forget about it, and neither are we going to pay your dollar to get connected. If you’re not interested in new members, this is a great way to avoid them!!
YouTube is my go-to video app, however, has some questionable features. The first is they, for seemingly no reason, remove features. The first one is that at the end of a video, you could go to ‘More videos’ at the bottom right corner and pick a new one. This was convenient, especially for lazy people such as me. This ONLY happens in the website, which is disappointing. What’s also disappointing is that, in their long years of having an app, have NOT managed to make a video queue system. 🤔
App keeps stopping in the middle of videos with a never ending revolving circle. HORRIBLE… Several updates and an email to the developer later, and nothing is happening! I am a premium paid subscriber and this is absolutely ridiculous that every time my screen shuts off, this happens! Can hardly ever view the unavailable videos to delete them off my playlist! Poor developing, poor customer service and in my opinion, poor app with a huge inflated monthly fee.
Don’t know what happened after the last 2 updates, but now I have to refresh at least 3 times to see video notifications in order…most recent 1st. Also not even getting notifications at all for some channels I’m subscribed to. I see them in the regular feed. Shows I’m still subscribed. Also getting recommendations for things I’ve never watched and have zero interest in. Quite frustrating.
I give it one star because it’s been having tons of issues lately, when I’m watching it on my fire stick and connected with my phone when I go to skip ads it doesn’t give me an option to skip then when I go to my fire stick remote and skip it resets the video then gives me more ads and when I fast forward to where I left off even more ads. Idk what your problem is but to me our “advancement” have really just been turning back the clock and getting worse.
When I search something up, completely unrelated videos show up and clog the search results, making it hard to find what I’m looking for. They’re not even based on what I’m currently searching for, they just pull videos from my reccomended section. If there was a way to turn this off, this would be fine, but there isn’t. Please have it as an option at least, it takes forever to find the videos I’m looking for. Keep auto-update turned off, this app keeps getting less intuitive with every update
Edit: An awesome idea for data-saving would be to create a 2 slider system to seperately modulate resolution and frame rate. Adjacent to these sliders would be some form of indicator that showed an approximation of the video’s data consumption. Personally, I believe this could be a useful set of options as there are a lot of times where I’d drop some resolution or half the frame rate to achieve lower data consumption but it depends on the type of video.
Sometimes, it’s completely unusable. The app will randomly crash, or freeze up, and sometimes I have to stop and restart the app multiple times for 8 to even start to get on track again. There’s also color which is that won’t go away until you restart the app, and then they come back after watching a couple of videos.
This app could be a lot better. ads pop up over the whole screen after a video you didn’t even click on randomly starts playing even if you turned off autoplay. You STILL have to X out of the video player interface or this stupid dark transparent overlay doesn’t close before the video starts (the very start of the video often containing things you don’t want to miss) and YOU CAN’T X OUT OF IT on shorts. Can I watch the video? Eventually. With trouble. It shouldn’t be this complicated google.
Just upgraded to a new phone, so I don’t know if it’s the phone, Android 13 software, or the app. When trying to comment on the YouTube app at times if I go over a paragraph it starts to lag and then eventually freeze. I am a premium member ( when I can afford), so I don’t have any feedback on the ad portion.
It’s overwhelming with all the ads. 4-8 ads on a 5min video. The constant ads pushed are Facebook and TikTok. I’ve tried reporting the favouritism for these platforms but nothing happens. I’ve had YouTube take away the option to report ads at times. And honestly, it’s getting old seeing the “most recent” videos are from days ago and you have to continue to scroll in order to actually find recent videos from certain channels. I’ve also tried downloading rumble but Google has blacked the videos
This is a review for YouTube premium. The download speeds for any video is insanely slow. I have really good WiFi and internet because I’m a gamer, and even then it’s painfully slow. During the free trial everything was fine then the second I payed for the subscription it literally slowed to malasses. I can’t even get a refund so it’s basically a waste of 12 bucks. I don’t recommend YouTube premium.
Your latest updates are really glitchy! If an ad comes in mid-roll (or the beginning) it freezes up the video and you cannot get back to watching. The play button will not work no matter how many times it is pushed. You have to close the app, then find the video again, then it starts over from the beginning! Also, just now, when I finally get the video to work, the play button will not go away and is a ghost in the middle of the screen. Also fix the orientation issues that do not work anymore.
There has been a problem for quite a few months now where you click a “youtube short” and it just buffers indefinitely. It will only play if you swipe to the next video, then back to the first video. It doesn’t always happen but it happens often. – Update 11/11/22: Update prior to this made the app less responsive to movements and after this updates it is still a problem. Maybe about half of the time, when I turn my phone sideways, the app will not maximize the video.
Since the latest update, there’s yet another glitch that causes the app to lockup after most of the automatic adds play, instead of continuing back to the video it locks up you have to close the app and reopen it. Of course it doesn’t remember where you left off so you have to scroll thru the video to where you were to continue watching. Happens on any channel and every video. If it is one of the un skippable ads, then it just locks up at the end of the video.
This app is broken, again. Why do you keep trying to change things that are perfectly fine? I feel like this is a situation where people are trying to justify their jobs and keep changing things unnecessarily. Picture now won’t switch between portrait and landscape (or full screen) most of the time without doing it manually. Videos hang and crash way more than they used to. I went back to a previous version, it worked fine and it auto updated and is broken again. Quit messing with this app.
I have definitely noticed a lot of change since my previous review from around 7 months ago! There have been many improvements. The only main problem I’m mainly focused on is when I’m watching videos and make the quality higher, such as 720p60 to 1080p, the video will continually freeze throughout the remainder of the video. Also, sometimes when I’m watching Shorts, the quality will suddenly transition from excellent, to a glitchy mosaic effect. I hope these issues can be resolved. Thank you!
Ads are becoming excessive, and minimize mode is no longer working so I can watch a video while doing something else on my screen. I don’t know if this was upgraded to a premium feature, but it’s just ridiculous. No one is going to pay that much for premium, and increasing the ads isn’t going to help. Also, the screen and UI keeps rotating to landscape mode even though my phone is locked in portrait. I’m very disappointed in YouTube.
would you guys please get rid of the auto replay feature on your shorts?! I mean don’t even give the option. It’s pointless, especially when one can just swipe down to see it again, and is also annoying. lol. Oh yea, would be nice to not have to scroll down from the top of channel subscription list every single time after pressing back button. The algorithm for suggestions on home page has to be tweaked. 90% of videos shown are based on the very most recent video I last watched.
Something is wrong with your comments sections. First, if I pause a video, specifically a short, and go into the comments section, it skips the video despite no prompt to do so. Secondly, it lags after only typing a few sentences, and it becomes hard to see what I’m typing as it lags that bad, it gets to the point of being several words behind, so I cannot see errors.
