Google Maps has seriously changed my life. I’m slightly directionally challenged, and having this app gets me where I need to go, when I need to be there. I’m constantly changing modes of transportation, and I’m able to get a really accurate time frame for each of them. Having the Tarc schedule with different bus options is a life saver. Love this app!
It is definitely not user-friendly. I am going to uninstall it after I make this comment. I WANT the other Google maps app which I cannot now find on my apps list in all 3 locations.. However, playstore says I have it. It is not there. So I am going to uninstall it from the phone through the Play Store and reinstall it through Play Store. I hope it works. But this is an example of what happens every time Google does an upgrade. That Google Maps GO is awful.
Functions well enough, but there’s no way to sign out of your Google account like there is on regular Maps. There’s an option to temporarily switch to the browser incognito mode, but it will quietly switch itself back out as soon as you change any other setting (showing the traffic map, for example). It’s very low memory and featureful, but this is not privacy friendly.
I love this app. The speed traps are pretty accurate and crash notification is too. I would like some features easier to use like the parking spot finder. (unless I’m not seeing the right way) The speed feature is cool too. I cant wait for it to get more accurate. for example, showing exact lane your in and what lane to be in, showing more stores on the map, maybe saying “turn now” when you are right on the turn instead of “in 1/4 mile turn”.
Stars, want to go, favorites, labels – these are good features in Google maps and i use them extensively. But I wish i could share a picture of what my map looks like in this app – practically can’t see anything at all, only stars. I need to be able to hide the lists. At least in the regular Map app all lists (but not the private Labeled places) can be hidden. I need to be able to hide those too.
My Pixel 3a is starting to show its age unfortunately, and with that the main app makes my phone extremely laggy and causes other background apps to freeze or crash. Go on my phone acts as if the app isn’t even running! Also something that is worth mentioning that will make me a perma user of this app, even on a brand new phone, is the fact that navigation and the map are two separate app instances. You can navigate the map and keep navigation open individually. No more accidental closures!!
Effectively requires the additional ‘navigation for Google Maps Go’ if you aren’t going to be looking at your screen while not knowing where you are going so you can try to figure out when to turn. Many turns have been missed before I knew the additional package was needed. Even then, it is far lighter than the bloat that is now Maps and its serving of ‘these people paid us a lot, we recommend you go here’ constantly taking up screen space. Use this with the additional pack to use for nav.
App works ok for SG21 but features that were present in the SG9 version are not there. No voice look up, no ability to log alerts, and no search along current route capability. Perhaps they are there, and I just don’t know how to turn them on. However, I never had to turn them on for the SG9, so at the very least less intuitive design. Also the navigation icon disappears every other time I use it making it difficult to know where exactly I am on the map.
.everyone needs to discover this app because everyone can immensely benefit from it ! Just the directions alone with voice navigation , and more detail like traffic or construction , etc Which is a constant here in Houston. I love that it is lighter than Google Maps and does not need a speedy WiFi connection and it doesn’t eat up your memory. You can also get phone numbers and more pertinent information much quicker and easier in this app. My favorite part is the discovery of new places.
This isn’t a functional navigation app. It just uses your browser to show maps and directions. It does open up faster, so considering that it’s using another app to do that, just shows how bloated and spammy Maps is. But it doesn’t navigate, so if you need that function it won’t work for you. Still, Maps is SO slow because of all the ads, this might be better if you just want to check traffic or if you can memorize written directions and don’t need step by step navigation.
Meh. Definitely faster than the full version. Missing one of my favorite features. I can’t add places to my lists. Only saves to 🌟 Time to go back to My Maps? Google you are confusing me. Stop it with the multiple apps that do basically the same thing! You’re not a company really. You’re just a bunch of people who happen to work in the same office.
Runs in chrome, which sucks. I can’t use offline maps from the original maps app or otherwise. What they really ought to do is instead of making the original maps app so labor intensive and shoving ads down your throat by default, either A. just make a second, more efficient version of the original while retaining functionality, or B. make suggestions and fancy graphics toggle able from settings of the original maps.
1 STAR is 1 STAR too many! This map was better on a Blackberry in 2010. That’s how awful the upgrades are. The recent reviews are telling the truth- it no longer helps you get ANYWHERE at all. And if part of your destination includes walking- BEWARE! It either leads you in the wrong direction or the needle/compass is ALWAYS off the marker. Oh and before, it used to allow you to load directions/ steps. It no longer does that! You have to follow the map and the “needle.” But it is always broken!!
While this app is useful and helpful everywhere (I use it extensively in the US, Canada, Europe and middle East) It share the same problem though, which is the audio volume is very low compared to the other sounds on the phone (I use Google maps on iPhone, Sony and Samsung) e.g. if you compare to other audio apps, such as songs playing, the maps audio will dim other sounds, but it’s still lower than it and no option to increase the volume for Google maps only. If I was programming, then I would do force audio high option as well as I would do extra volume level (value) separately to override other volume control and that will make many people happier.
Definitely going to be uninstalling! This was one of the many, “pre- installed” apps that came on my phone. I was all for its, “smaller app, so low amount of storage used” and the ” ‘lite’ ‘go’ saves you data”…. that would be great, if you could actually use the app when you really need it!! It never said anything about the route, nor brought up the map to get to the destination!! It wouldn’t even let me use the official Google Maps, it would take me back to this one, that doesn’t work!
I really like this stripped down version of maps but wish it would hold settings when closed, or that we could save defaults (unless I’m missing something) so that, for example, the traffic layer is enabled when I open the app. Other than that it’s nice to not be assaulted by the huge suggestions thing at the bottom of regular maps.
I cannot really give this app a specific rating because it’s got so many functional possibilities & some of them work well 100% of the time, but others are unreliable. I don’t understand why the locator on the map always works when I know exactly where I am, but always fails completely or gives an inaccurate location whenever I don’t!? This function is geo-sat & should be more accurate than triangulation using the phone signal, so why does it always seem to fail only when I actually need it?
Really like this version! Simple easy to use No Frills and the screen is filled with the map you’re using and very little garbage. Clean and refreshing. Get it you will not be disappointed
I getting my search results I a language that I can’t read and it’s not in my list of preferred languages. I have tried selecting one of my selected languages it still give results in that language, I removed catch and data but it still shows. How can I permanently revert to English
Maa shaa Allah! Love the way you zoom in on individual buildings and if listed the business name appears. Location pin drop feature is excellent for deliveries, as well as route mapping. Google Maps Go is certainly a trusted companion.
Hate it after last update. Every time I put in a address north of town . It has me take the highway to downtown. Then get off the highway and go past Napa and get back on the highway and continue to me destination.
I don’t know what I would do without Google maps I would be lost 80% of the time, it’s just an awesome at all around and I highly recommended it good job team Google 👍👍💯
Doesn’t find my location, press help , my location it is on , so it’s so annoying. Do something with this updates. Or make a better google map which works properly
Maps are terrible, I send a regular text to my friend and a location map of somewhere i’ve never been pops up on the delivery.
The app still keeps telling me my location couldn’t be determined presicely. I really don’t know what’s going on and i am really in need of getting my device to be on a current location.
This is a similar to the online maps and work a little quicker than the old Google maps. However, this does have one annoying feature. Same as online, this app has a bar on the left hand side to input stuff which can be removed using a small arrow at any time but on the app this can only be removed before you input you directions. So once you’ve got your directions and you want to see using your full screen, you’ve just got this pointless bar on the left that feels like it just in the way
This app is great, but it has a few bad qualities. Pros: I think this app is so good for finding places to go, and it quickly locates where you are. Its great for biking, and it gives different ways to go, mainly the quickest. Cons: You don’t get a clear picture of your location you search up. It sometimes searches the wrong thing instead of what your looking for. It lags and when you type something, per say, “Bridgewater” it will come up with no results, but If you search again, it will. -Leah
I installed this in January 2023 and what 💩 it’s so basic I ended up uninstalling after trying it out. Even the proper Google Maps is pathetic they keep updating the App things only get worse not better. Where houses have been for a few years still see fields. I do not use much at all, partner has a built-in satnav in the car. I was thinking of trying Waze that actually tells you about road accidents etc Just because Google puts these in doesn’t mean I have to keep updating all pointless!!
Great app, but where’s the street view and the blue line for it? I like it better when you include the blue fast line on both the overhead map and the street view at the same time as I’m traveling and navigating so I know how to navigate the location I’m trying to drive the street view to. I can’t play if you don’t include the things I just mentioned.
Always used full version of Google maps, when I purchased my new mobile Google maps Go was already installed. I can’t say I have had any problems with the App so far so good. Also it takes up a lot less space on my internal storage, which is handy as my new mobiles internal storage is pretty bad. I don’t really see much difference between this lite version of maps and full one. All updates are quick to install and all in all easy to do, all information is provided to cover any FAQ. GOOD JOB.
There’s absolutely zero support for local guides, so my broken account can’t get any human help. Real disappointing Google. Frankly pathetic.
Used to this app for ages old Basildon no Maps no information nothing uninstalled and reinstalled exactly the same very very annoying
Search to find Landscapes, geographic location view satellite, terrains etc .Locate businesses addresses as well as write reviews and ratings of your favorite places eg Hotels, beauty salon, Grocery store, restaurants, Amusement parks, Religious places, Home and office visitation, Event places, Travel destinations etc to help others find recommendation. Upload photos of your memorable daily activities. Connect with the community to share photos and interest with family and friends.
I love this app…as I am directionally challenged. No matter where I need directions to….Google you’re always helpful. Thanx
A step in the right direction as maps has become bloat ware. But having it dependant on chrome is almost as bad. As chrome is extremely memory hungry, slow and clunky. There is a speed that google finds acceptable for its apps, response time and load time, which is about ten times longer than what I find acceptable. Which is why I am interested in GO apps. Even on a ZTE axon. Dear google. Your apps are fat and slow. I’m glad you’ve gotten them a personal trainer.
The companion navigator add-on was not built to run on the same android version as this app. This is odd as the full Maps app works on Ice Cream (v4.2). If that cannot be done, I would like the Maps Go to either refresh at intervals or provide a button to manually update my present location. I like it in other ways, and think using browser based apps are a really good idea.
A back up and point that open it share with profile for Google maps in technology new on 2023/2030 a daily. Five 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Very Good👍👍👍.
Presise, excellent exact location and gives the best routes. Recreation quickly in case I make a miss
Crashing alot after update, not showing the map anymore
Very helpful and loving app which has made the world easier for us. Just imagine that time when we were used to ask somebody about our destination and forgot to go to the extact route, it has just made the life wonderful for us. Latest features are superb excellent. My favorite is, to show the route with red color if traffic is blokced and yellow if it’s busy route. You can drag and drop to new optional way as well.
