  1. I have been using and loving Evernote for several years now. Recently however, I am having problems with notes I’ve entered on my phone app and then wanting to view on my tablet. It’s now becoming almost unusable and a waist of time to enter on one device and then to see the note on another device. I don’t think they are syncing correctly. I’m starting to hate this program.

UPDATE: Thankfully, the jumping cursor problem has been resolved, so I am able to use Evernote for many of my tasks again. Recently, I have noticed that there are usually several versions of a note that keep showing up. I used to love Evernote. After a recent update, I cannot edit my notes without the cursor constantly jumping to the end of the next word. This is so frustrating! Please fix this! I am running Android on a Moto G Power phone, and everything else on the phone is working great.

I’ve used this app for years and up until recently, I loved it. Now there’s issues where it duplicates notes multiple times after you close out the app. Or when you open the app, you are unable to access your note and there is a cycling feature showing that the app is trying to open. Or it opens, and you cannot edit anything as it says that it’s trying to update itself. This has only started happening within the last month and a half, and it is extremely frustrating for an app that used to work.

  4. I deleted my previous review because it seems the the problem I was having with notes multiplying has been corrected. I never uninstalled the app because I wanted to keep all my notes I made over the years. The free version is pretty basic, but meets my needs for keeping track of all the books I read. I wasn’t really happy with the app I had switched to.

  5. Eric Riedy dice:

What has happened? It seems this latest version has lost all connection with my data. Get this fixed ASAP!Existing notes don’t load, List of notebooks change each time I enter the app, notes from the phone don’t sync elsewhere. Tried to refresh the app, it just got worse. If I can’t rely on my phone app now makes this app less productive. Long time user over 10 years.

  6. Cari Cruse dice:

Longtime user of Evernote (since 2009!), desktop & mobile, really frustrated. This app is unusable. Editing or creating new notes can’t be saved, app has to be force closed to get out of it. Sad. Evernote was an amazing program the first few years, but has been dreadful the last several years with glitches & crashes as well as them removing ability to easily export all my notes. Moving to something else.

  7. Renee dice:

As of today, Evernote just stopped working! Will not open at all. Just the splash screen for a couple of seconds, goes away and then a message box saying it is not responding… Never had a single issue before.. Sent a crash report. Tried all the usual fixes (force close, restart phone, reinstall) with no luck. Hundreds of my notes and writings in there! Very upset.

  8. I used to LOVE this app as I am a big list maker. However the most recent updates have been majorly glitchy. Changes aren’t being saved and now I can’t even access my notes at all and I have important things in my phone that I don’t have saved anywhere else. It is frustrating to the point that I’ll be switching to something else. I won’t even go into how many times it asks you to buy premium, then tells you that you’ll lose the offer. If only! I’ve declined a hundred times.

  9. Matt Jaffe dice:

This app consistently does strange things when editing notes – deletes random words or whole paragraphs when backspacing once or tapping enter, cursor jumps to random places, locks up, etc. It also constakes takes 15 seconds or more to open – frustrating when you’re in the middle of something and just want to make a quick update. The latest issue, I can’t see any of my notes or notebooks from the app since a recent update. The web interface works great, but the Android app is terrible.

  10. What did you do to break the App? This has been my goto App for note-taking. Now it is unusable. My notes won’t display, there is a lot of synch failures creating duplicates… which I can’t fix… because I literally can’t do anything. Oh… and the “send feedback ” button doesn’t really let you or this review would have been provided there. It simply say “Thanks!” with zero opportunity for input. BL: I don’t want to dump an app I’d normally give 5 stars to… but I need a usable product

  11. My app became completely unuseable on 11/8/22. At first my notes would not update or save my edits. Then it degraded to the point that I was unable to access any of my notes. When I clicked on a note to view it, I would get a completely white screen with an endlessly turning grey circle in the middle. I read your response to other reviewers with these issues & laughed. The security policy doesn’t allow me to screenshot. I uninstalled & reinstalled to fix my problems. Will export my data ASAP!

  12. So let me first say that I’ve been using this app for years and I love it. It’s been very convenient and usually works perfectly. However, for the past few weeks now it’s been very glitchy. At first my notes would take a longer than usual time to load. Then I started getting duplicate notes. Now today none of my notes will load at all. I can see previews of my most recent notes but when I click on any of them I just get a spinning circle and nothing loads up. I need help!!!

  13. Bear dice:

I love this app, but recently it hasn’t been letting me edit my notes at all. It’ll perpetually say “checking for updates” but never gets past that point. I’ve had to resort to writing things elsewhere and copying and pasting it when I’m back on my desktop. I also have a persistent issue where highlighting text to delete it will not only delete what I intended, but also partial words that preceded it. I’ve also had this happen with just hitting backspace.

  14. Tim M dice:

This morning, after spending an hour of note taking, the app would not save the contents. I waited for the “green check” in the corner, but it never appeared. My colleague was kind enough to share their notes, but it made me look incompetent! I won’t go back to using this app until they work out the bugs. Now the PIA task, TX everything to Onenote. 😡

  15. Latest update killed Evernote app, can’t even load notes, doesn’t work. Web version works but slow, and UI is not what I’m accustomed to so it’s cumbersome. I use Samsung tablet primarily, but also have Samsung phone, have used and has worked well for years and now my info is being held hostage in the app! Please fix or roll back. I don’t want to go to another app but can’t work with this in its current form

  16. 31 Witches dice:

Like I’ve said before. this WAS a life saver but something is broken. It’s not letting me edit or add anything. It let’s me do all the work but I hit “Done” nothing happens. I wait till I have no choice but to x out. They Key is the tags, but while it retains some I input. the notes I created them for aren’t saved. Please fix. I love this app! have ADHD and this really helps keep me on top of things. I

  17. Used to be easy & reliable. Now it seems like they’re making it glitchy/horrible to get people to pay for a ‘better’ tier. Most of the time notes don’t load & when they do, they automatically create multiple duplicates. I can’t scroll without jumping all over the place. Can’t edit anything. At this point I want this waste of time/energy app to work just long enough so I can copy my notes to a higher quality alternative & cancel Evernote altogether. Emailed customer support- they never respond.

  18. Joseph M dice:

I’ve used this app for years. It’s been reliable and trustworthy. The last few days notes have started saving multiple versions, failing to sync content, and now I can’t even open the app at all. This is a huge breach of trust for me. I use Evernote daily to take notes for therapy and now I can’t record my own thoughts. Please fix this or I’ll be forced to find another service.

  19. Elijah B dice:

For over a decade Evernote’s been one of the most seamless & useful apps ever made for smartphones. But somewhere in the last year or 2 things have slowly declined to the point that its getting so frustrating to use the app that I find myself using it less & less. I’m getting to the point that I’m wondering if I need to find a better replacement & start moving things over. I’ve got a decade worth of my life in this app so obviously that’s the last thing I want to do. But idk what else to do.

  20. This app doesn’t sync properly between phone/computer. It always creates duplicate conflict notes and it takes mmforever to figure out which one has the newest information on it. When I create check lists on my computer and check something off from my phone, all of the check boxes turn to bullet points. I always have to change them back because I need to see which things are checked off without deleting them completely. Changing apps today!

  21. Mobile app will not sync, uninstall reinstall resets it to mid 2021. After several days I finally got an updated sync and then it stopped again. It has now been more than a day with no updates to my mobile platform. Before you go there, yes, modern Samsung phone, up to date and the app is BRAND NEW because I keep uninstalling and reinstalling, but, still no regular sync and even selecting the manual sync in the settings drop down accomplishes NOTHING. What is the point – other apps work!

  22. I’ve used it for about 10 years. Good overall, but still has a few bugs. When using a Bluetooth keyboard on Note 10+, using backspace to delete highlighted text deletes them, but also deleted some non-highlighted words to the right. When saving/syncing a note, there’s a chance that the app automatically duplicates the note. Others complained about this years ago, and now it’s affecting me too. Some users delete dozens of duplicates per day.

  23. Garbage! Doesn’t share notes! I tried sharing notes from my phone to my friend’s phone and from my friend’s phone to my phone using the email address used for each account, but I couldn’t get either phone to display the notes from the other phone. It should update on the app, but instead you get an email notification that sends you to the app and nothing new shows up. I tried clicking on the sync selection in the settings menu and even restarting both phones, but sharing notes didn’t work.

  24. 4 things. 1- free version issues. Maybe paying fixes some but that’s my first issue 😆 2- Auto Rotate no matter phone settings on the matter, can’t access any options in free mode if there is a fix. 3- lags and freezes when switching between notes, ignores phones back buttons and doesn’t save even when check is clicked. Crashes too. 4- horrible layout for free users with what can and can’t be accessed. PS:downloaded this hopping for just a bit more than default notes app 😅 this isn’t it 😆

  25. Gm K dice:

This app is awful. Constant issues and glitches As a visiting nurse I need a note taking application that is reliable and this is certainly not it. I’ve been using this for years and it seems every year it gets worse and worse. I’m done using this app. Some of the issues-. Notes duplicating on their own causing multiple issues, not saving note updates, inability to even access my notes . I’m going back to Google notes.

  26. I’ve been using Evernote for the better part of a decade and hope to not have to switch to OneNote or something, but it is a rather frustrating app sometimes. I understand the need for premium features, but the new home screen is super slow to navigate and has tons of wasted space. The newest annoyance is that Evernote does not obey my rotation settings on Android 13. I have auto-rotate set to off on a device-wide level but Evernote rotates to landscape if I move my phone sideways. Please fix!

  27. Frustrating – loses data, gets stuck. Its been years and years, and yet they still can’t get the most core, basic feature to work very well. I use EN so I can take notes quickly and access them when and where I need to. Accurate sync is the main, critical feature. In fairness, they’re about as good as Google, and much better than Microsoft at this.

  28. I’ve used this app (Android – the free version) for at least a couple of years and loved it, but the last couple of months at least there have been SO many glitches. It’s incredibly frustrating. As I’m typing, the keyboard will randomly disappear so I’ll have to click edit again. Also, several times it’s frozen up and then hasn’t saved my progress. I hope the issues are fixed soon so I don’t have to find another note app.

  29. I love Evernote because I can access/edit it on both my phone & laptop. It’s handy to be able to view when you are off-line. One thing that I do NOT see as an improvement is that it doesn’t ask you if you want to save changes before you exit. A feature that I would appreciate is that if there is a note conflict, if it would highlight what the differences were between the two. In other words, highlight what is in one version as opposed to the other as there can be deletions & additions. Thanks!

  30. I’ve used Evernote for 20 years. While the design has improved over the years, the bugs have increased dramatically. Now I can’t even save a new note. I can create a new note and add as much as I like, but none of it ever gets saved. The most basic functionality of the app, and it no longer works. UPDATE: customer support reached out to inform me they’d identified the cause of this issue and provided me with a quick and effective solution. Despite lingering glitches, nothing else beats Evernote

  31. DON’T PUT ANYTHING IMPORTANT IN THIS APP. I’ve lowered my rating of this app twice, on losing data in it. Good intentions but constant problems. Particularly with new releases, it is often quirky. This app has enough potential that I am not ready to completely give up on it yet. If they can ever get it to work consistently, could be good. But the quirks in it can cause you to lose important information. Don’t trust Evernote.

  32. I loved Evernote initially and thought I’d go ahead and upgrade to the personal version. I’m totally willing to pay that amount per month for something as useful as this! Once I started really using it though, I started having lots of technical issues. I’m not paying for something that doesn’t even work! Now I can’t even use the free version because I get messages that I’ve exceeded the storage. One star for the bait and switch, Evernote.

  33. Renidea dice:

I have been using this app for 10+ years. It has been invaluable to my work and home life. Recent changes have made it useless. When typing my keyboard constantly disappears, entire sections of notes disappear even after saving appears confirmed. Typing is annoying with the keyboard issue, but it’s futile to try if I keep losing over half of what I type. The words annoyed, frustrated, furious, and disappointed just scratch the surface. I’m cancelling my premium & shopping for an alternative.

  34. Mike Lee dice:

Sometime I type something and then it just disappears! Large notes are not usable anymore! Now the app crashes when I try to use them! How am I supposed to do anything with all of that data??? Also, deleting a word with the swipe to delete feature randomly deletes some words or a few letters to the RIGHT as well! The back gesture also doesn’t work.

  35. I’ve used this app/program/company/whatever for so long. I have notes dated all the way back to 2013. Over the years the monetization has only gotten worse. For a while I was “grandfathered in” and didn’t have to pay, but that’s gotten me less and less as well. Today, while searching my notes, I got a pop up that said “2 more results found. Evernote Personal finds words inside documents and PDFs. Upgrade.” This is the final nail in the coffin. Don’t bother with this app it’s not worth it.

  36. alan chan dice:

Good for backups between Android, Apple, and PC. The basic version let’s you sync 2 devices. To get more, you have to pay. Annoying pop-up ads are getting worse. They recently redid the home screen and it’s harder to use. To search for older notes, it reverts to the old format. I’m going to look for other options.

  37. Love the features and UI design of this app. Very comfortable to take notes in and they offer plenty of deals on premium throughout the year. Personally do not need more than 2 device at the moment but I can see the utility. If I had to improve anything it would be compatability and sharing functions, not horrible but I feel that the exclusivity of the app forces you to jump through hoops to use these. Large file transfers can be time consuming.

  38. I’ve used Evernote for years but I’m consistently hesitant to trust that I’ll be able to retrieve the info in the future due to severely-lacking search capabilities. Also, while the task features are a wonderful idea, the software is very glitchy. Trying to make a task list tonight, the cursor and text jumped around onto different lines, duplicated text, and ultimately left blank where I was trying to make a task item. This is ultimately what led me to write this review.

  39. The app does not sync across devices consistently, if at all. I continue to experience the same glitches others have reported. I took all appropriate steps and measures to cancel my paid service and revert back to the free one, given all of the problems I’ve experienced with Evernote, but I still was charged. Update: The developers reached out to me and advised me to update my apps (even though they were updated) and to go to their “Discussions” page to chat with other users to get help.

  40. It’s ok. When I make a checklist and save it, Evernote always deletes what I wrote and saves a blank version. This is really inconvenient and unhelpful. It is also kind of inefficient to delete a not once you do not need it anymore. To delete a note, you need to open the note and delete it instead of other softwares where you could just long-click the note and select the option of deleting it. Also it would be really helpful if, when making a checklist you can clear the tasks out each day.
