  1. I have been using this card for about 4 years. When I started it was unlimited cash back. I was up too 500 and a month before i was able to cash out. They changed to the 100 max. I have tried to desput a few things online, it takes forever to get ahold of someone and they rarely resolve the issue I called about. I have stopped calling. Check deposit took a very long time. The fees are great and it’s convenient.. but definitely could be better.

  2. Love this app and my card. The fees are not unreasonable or crazy high. The cash back is awesome but you can only access it once a year but I’ve done it 2x and each time it was worth 80$ and the second time it was 98$. On the app you can move money to savings or to checking as many times as you feel the need to do so. You can pay bills. Order online. Use just like any other visa card at atm stores or online get cash back you always can view all transactions. You can set up direct deposit.

  3. App is unavailable way too often. Takes too long to load and the app can’t be left open too long or it will freeze. There are times where the app won’t even let me in it at all and it will say to “try back later” . Too many technical issues occur. And yes, I’ve already been using the latest version. Regardless the app gives repetitive problems.

  4. I have had green dot for almost a year now. It was going good. But not anymore. Just got the new unlimited cash back card. This new update causes lots of problems. They also have poor customer service. The app it says click to remember device so you can skip the 2 step verification process. I did that and still have to go through the 2 step verification process. It says you can deposit cash by the mobile app and not have to pay a fee. I tried that yesterday September 7, 2019 and it did not work.

  5. Great, reliable, intuitive. I love the option to make deposits with no transaction fee, simply using a bar code at select locations. Evidently this so cutting-edge that some cashiers don’t know how to do it yet, and a manager had to come figure it out. Walmart is the only company I know of that can deposit not only cash, but also from another debit card. You can keep your account locked in your device, but set the app to key you guess your balance without signing in, for quick access.

  6. This app is terrible. Every few weeks I have to uninstall it and reinstall due to it not allowing me to sign-in, change in app features, move money to vault or out of vault and it comes up with a notice that the time on my phone doesn’t match the time on the app. I have tried to contact customer service numerous times with no success. I’m ready to change to another card.

  7. This app allows you the experience of having a “regular” bank account. Exactly the same as the checking acct., I always had, without all the fees! This is now the only one I have! No need for others. I pay bills. I can deposit a check by taking a picture. Transfer or send money. I can take money out at a store versus ATM if I choose. It’s easy to reload also. Reloading @ dollar tree is cheapest.

  8. I have been using the app for six months and faced no major issues. Bank transfers are well-notified and completed on the target dates. Easy to use once you get the hang of it. A great way to move funds you don’t want bothered by automatic subscriptions and other surprises. A good backup when you have misplaced your main cards. Monthly fees and 2% cash back bonus may not impress some, but this is a dependable card.

    I’ve had greendot for years and never had issue. All of a sudden I see fraudulent charges on my account. I called up and because its pending they can’t do anything about it. I have to wait until the transaction goes through to dispute it could say pending for a week. Funny how the charge was for the exact amount that was in my account. Now a real company that cared about customers would refund the amount back to the customer. So I have no money, and they are losing a loyal customer. Stay away!!!

  10. The app performs flawlessly, does everything it promises. One suggestion for improvement would be that it showed the balance next to each transaction like the website does. For you unhappy users, read info before complaining…all the info re: this card is available to you before purchase. To avoid the monthly fee, all you have to do is load a $1000 a month-works great for direct deposit, or use it 30 times a month. This is not a gift card, but a reloadable debit card.

  11. I had no problem with GreenDot. It did function well. And get paid 2 days early from work. Everything worked great for almost 4 years. Until today. When I tried getting in my app. It was saying it needed to be updated. So it sent me straight to Google Playstore. When I hit update button. It has been loading for long time. And still waiting to check into my account.

  12. Simple and easy to use… I’m somewhat unhappy with the reoccurring monthly fee ($7.95) which puts your account in the negative more and more if no deposits are made. The swipe right to check your balance without signing in is nice and convenient. It was easy to set up direct deposit so I could get my stimulus check sent to me faster.

    Works great so far. Doesn’t seem to be any major glitches or issues. A slight con would be that it takes up to 20 minutes sometimes to send you the notification of amount spent. Used many other prepaid cards and apps before and I’d get the notification literally while I was still collecting my bagged items in line. I just like to see quicker notifications in case I’m not the one using my card. Other than that, I have no complaints (fees are pretty steep though compared to other prepaid cards).

  14. They charge you way too much for everything. Using the vault to “save” money for every transaction and each month. I work my ass off to get paid and I can’t even spend it how I want to cause they charge way too much for everything. Worst prepaid app card ever purchased. Would give minus stars if it were possible but this is the only bad review I’ve ever really had to tell other people for their protection.

  15. The apps fine, does what you need it to. Except it does this strange thing where it’ll tell you your time is too fast and then tell you to change the internal time of your phone. Or have you put in your password and then tell you that “Something’s not right. Try that again.” Or the ‘slide to check your balance’ is always “Not Available” other than that the app is easy on the eyes and very useful to check your balance

  16. I am more than disappointed unfortunately. This app loads three out of 10 times, and is quite frankly an irritation to use. All I want to do is sign in and see what my balance is check transactions and put money into savings. that the app does all of those things and more but considering it sits there and continues to read the words connecting, connecting, connecting, 5 minutes later still trying to connect. It’s a little irritating but it has pretty colors and it’s nice and flashy when it works

  17. I love Greendot and all of its perks but I do have one complaint. I’m constantly having to delete and redownload the app because it glitches and screws up my balance. If you guys could fix this then it would be 5 stars all the way. But until then I’m saying a 3 because this whole redownloading thing KILLS my internet/data. Also if you could make it to where the app is more like the website, as in where it shows the spending and beside it the balance. Fix these things and a 3 turn to 5. Thank You.

  18. This app is the perfect example of an application that is completely useless. I have been trying to log on it for the past 5 days now and each time I receive ” oops, there is an error logging on. Please try again later.” I thought is was just my phone; yet I have now tried from other devices as well as with one the uses a different network to access the site. Still: the same message appears.

  19. I really appreciate the app. It’s performed mostly well. I did observe an issue where it keeps prompting me to get a security code each time I use it although I have selected the option to ‘remember me/device’. Also, it never actually sends the code to my phone as selected the text is never received, resulting in me having to go back and select email option. Seems like it gets stuck.

  20. Pretty darn good, but fails on an essential banking app feature. It doesn’t show much balance info!? You ONLY see the “current” balance, but even that isn’t clear on whether it reflects pending transactions or not. Personally, I can no longer live without seeing my FUTURE transactions, like on my USAA app. Scheduled bill payments show up above pending transactions with the anticipated resulting balance shown. Also, I can add scheduled deposits, like my paycheck or any expected transactions.

  21. I have had my GD account for over 12 years with no problems. This last year I have encountered nothing but terrible customer service, technical issues with the app as well as the website. Since I can not often have access to my money when I need it, I now have late fees from my bills. Very disappointing. I can no longer support this bank or give positive referrals to others.

  22. THE WORST!! I made a payment to a company and on the company’s end the payment didnt go through. It said card error. I tried to compete the payment twice. Green dot still charged my card even though the payment didnt go through. I called green dot as well as had screen shots of the pending transaction. The transaction was pending for about 12 days then all of a sudden everything was gone. Like the transaction never existed. Green dot didn’t help at all and I lost my money. They are scammers

  23. EDIT: the app all of a sudden will not allow me into the account to unlock my card!! Ive uninstalled and reinstalled several times today and each time, the account freezes up longer and makes things worse! I can’t unlock it from the website. Only the app! Beyond that, suspicious activity on the account that randomly posts then disappears under transaction history!!! Not safe!

  24. I do not recommend this bank app. Unable to contact customer service from the app. You have to use the phone number on the debit card. Some deposits are missing, and the reps keep telling me to check with the sender. The sender gave me trace numbers. The Green Dot rep says they are “unable to use trace #”. So, what do I do now? The bill pay function is also poor. If you set up a bill payment, and cancel one payment, the app shows a check mark as “paid.” Very confusing when you want to see your payment history. I do not recommend Green Dot Bank.

  25. Purchased the card to use in a dire situation. Called the service number got hungup on. Tried again, got a message saying technical difficulties. Downloaded the app, out of service. Went to website, out of service. Looked for alternative options to contact this company. Sent a message, no reply. It’s been long enough and too much hassle. I want my money back!😡

  26. I’ve been using GreenDot for almost 7 years now and I’ve never had a problem. All my checks have been deposited securely and purchases made without a hitch …. until recently. I havent been able to open my app. The website is a disaster. I’ve tried calling. There isn’t anyone to answer. I’ve emailed. No response. It’s just been all bad these last few days. I need to access my money obviously to survive. This is my only acct and I have no way to utilize it. 👎🏿👎🏿

  27. I had a problem with my card getting locked because of possible unauthorized transactions, which I do appreciate that they’re watching out for this. But it turns out the transaction that they had targeted was not illegitimate. But it just took a couple of minutes of chatting with them through help section of the app (on a Sunday!) and my card was reactivated. It’s been a pleasure using this app and I really enjoy it. I totally recommend it.

I’ve been a geen dot member for almost 2 years now and the only biggest issue I have with this app is suddenly it just doesn’t want to work, trying to open it and it continuously load then says try again later, that’s not a good answer to your customer when your holding they’re money. I’m looking for a reason because I’m in a process of a purchase so now I have to stop the purchase to constantly attend to this issue, happens way too much. I will soon be moving on to another bank. Inconvenient

  29. I have been using Greendot for almost 4 yrs now. Never a single issue. The cashback thing is legit. Saving option is EXTREMELY convenient, and every transaction is in real time. No delays. My check are direct deposited on wednesdays when everyone else’s is on Thursday. Never had an instance of a refund going uncorrected. When I needing to withdrawal beyond my daily limit all I had to do was call and was able to get more. Honestly couldn’t ask for better experience.

Green dot is great , I’ve had a very good experience, it’s out of all the prepaid cards, the most reliable and always goes through when I make my payments and I make my purchases either online or in person. And it’s new feature in the app to make cash deposits it’s hassle free and free of a fee charge. I’m really comfortable and happy with my green dot prepaid card account

  31. There app is pretty good and easy to use. Greendot has a ton of fees and their customer service is horrible. On other bank apps you can cancel a pending transaction but not on this app. I had an unauthorized purchase pending on my card and they refused to do anything about it. I was on the phone for 2 hrs then they said I had to wait for it to be posted and then I had call Back.

  32. Definitely isn’t like a real bank account. I can’t link it to use it with my investing apps, can’t transfer money from the card (only if it’s going to another green dot account) you get some cash back on online purchases but that’s the only real feature. This feels like a 2006 app in 2020. Definitely not up to the same standards as Chime, Aspiration, etc.

  33. Have used GD for a few years now . Very happy with customer service, features and security. I have only ever had one issue ( my fault) and it was easily resolved. Direct deposit is usually early. I can deposit checks electronically and deposit cash easily. Plus cash back rewards are great and automatically credited to your account every 12 months. Nice bonus. Mobile app is easy and fast. I can check my balance, transactions, direct deposit and much more all very quickly.

  34. App doesn’t work at all. I cannot even log in, hell I usually cant even get the app to open without crashing. Ive uninstalled and reinstalled several times. Ive turned phone on and off. Also tried using diff networks and tried using cellular data instead of wifi. It says unknown when I try to open the app. I can get it to open on the second try without crashing then when I click log in the “Unknown error” window pops back up. Also adding money should be free if account cost $10 a month.

    Used it for over a year. Had direct deposit from work. App worked well, and was able to access my info, and money. Green Dots fees were too much compared to similar online banking options. And I had a hard time contacting their headquarters when I had an issue. Had to write, and hand mail a letter to them with my questions, received no reply. That was 2 years ago. Maybe it”s different now.

  36. I’m sure if you’re downloading the app it’s too late, but get ready to get hit with a 10 dollar unrefundable fee as soon as you use the card. Also cant deposit a check without going through a ton of hoops and fees, and that’s only if have the special card, not the one you get from the gas station. Horrible experience all around. Mich better cards out there that wont scam you with the fine print.

  37. I’m more of a cash person so I don’t like to use traditional banks. The problem is almost everything you do these days is done electronically, which as why I use Green Dot. I love all the features they offer such as 3% cash bank on all online purchases and I always get my pay check 1 or 2 days earlier with direct deposit! The mobile app itself is super easy to use. It has a ATM and Cash Deposit Map, you can Lock and Unlock your card, you can move money in and out of savings, plus so much more!

  38. It does everything it says plus+. There r extra features they say, r not avail to u, but every option I need/qualify for, is not only available to me, but it, without exception or fail, works correctly, sufficiently, and effectivley. Including, what I can’t get, with any prepaid, ever! For instance, any type of money transfer, person to person, retail, internet, that is made, shows up instantaneously on both the receiver AND the recipient! No late, or insuffcient, overdraft fees, ever!

  39. Absolutely terrible and a complete lie. I have had this account for some time now, and not only can I not ever deposit a check through the app, but I have had money taken out that I have not spent and I have not been able to access ANY of the “cash back rewards” in the time frame the app says I could access it. I also need to dispute transactions, but I am afraid to because others have mentioned that when you do that, you no longer have access to your money while they look into it!

  40. Love the convenience being able to just swipe to the right to check my balance without having to log into this account. Also like that every now and then it will send a verification code to make sure that is me logging in, so that others can’t just get into my account. I like the Vault option to, I can stash money away for backup like a safety net, extra security. Definitely recommend this app!
