Never had any issues until today. I love Chrome until today… frequent crashes and not loading pages. The developer responded with ideas on how to fix issues. I should have included in my review, I had already tried resetting the app data, and I also uninstalled and re-installed the app completely, without and fixes to the crashing issue. I will look into what the experts have to say.
The new update has rendered the app completely useless. Granted, my phone is a bit old, as it came out in 2020. But I was able to use Chrome before the new update. It was fast, it never took a long time to load any results, I was happy. Now, I go to search and it will just load, not to mention it adds a new tab when you search for something, the first tab remains at Chrome’s home screen. The layout doesn’t impress me, and since it fails to load every thing I search for, I won’t use it anymore.
I had almost no issues with using chrome, until randomly I can no longer have pages in a group. The button is still there, but it doesn’t do anything. All it does is open it in a new tab, and the way its formatted is awful. No preview, doesn’t show much info, zero organization. If an update caused this, fix it please. EDIT: I had to edit the flags to re-enable it, when before it was just active. I don’t know why google even disabled it.
Chrome is the best browser for me. I have found it to be the most reliable and safe of all modern browsers. It ALWAYS works, first time, everytime! When updates come through they are pretty fast. It usually requires a reboot of my PC, phone, or tablet ater installing, but it is fast – usually less than a minute, maybe 3 minutes total, from start through the reboot. Definitely the browser of choice for those who just want a stable browser, but options also let power users do their thing.
Freezes when you first open the app, then you have to close and reopen the app, to get it to work. It does this EVERY TIME! Google Chrome just keeps getting worse and worse! Especially, when Facebook forces you to have to update, to get their site to work right! Ridiculous!!!! I’d give negative stars, if it would let me. Not to mention, it won’t let you clear your browsing history! It just keeps spinning, when you hit to clear it. You end up having to clear it manually, every time!
Amazing app, one problem: “Chrome Saved Memory.” I don’t know why it keeps continuously doing this. Finally I broke down and uninstalled all updates. But seriously, reopening all of my tabs has never gotten more annoying. However, this could be easily solved if there were an option in setting for this problem to be sorted. Nonetheless, this could be my device version, I still want this to be an option for those out there who still deal with the same problem.
I mean, it’s chrome. Normally use it as a default but had to switch. Has a nasty habit now of not doing anything when I try to search from url bar. Just goes back to new tab screen. Search is broken until I completely close the app and relaunch it. I just rolled with it but now it’s become very annoying. Now they’re looking to block ad blockers. I get ads are big revenue, but I get tired of ads blocking the top and bottom 3rd of the screen, while playing a video ad! Enough is enough!
Annoying thing started a month or two ago. I can no longer ask chrome/Google, on a synced profile with the save passwords option ticked, to generate a strong password for me. One of the best features for signing up securely for stuff. No resolution online. Seems like a bug that isn’t getting fixed.
For some reason, recently Chrome has started putting my search history in the frequent websites section of the home page. I absolutely hate this. Please either remove this or at the very least add an option to turn off search history appearing as frequent websites. I keep needing to remove every single search that appears every time I open the browser.
If only you could disable the spectacularly annoying pull-down-to-refresh function. Seriously, who the heck is refreshing the page so often that they need s shortcut for it? As if the refresh button in the navigation bar is so hard to get to. This feature is only useful to a small number of users while annoying ALL others. How did this make it past research?
Sometimes when simply only trying to scroll to the top of a webpage I end up accidentally refreshing it in its entirety, which at times has erased all data in a form, leading to lots of wasted time. This is completely unacceptable. We should be given the option to hold down the top of a webpage for a little lengthier amount of time to refresh a webpage, to try to at least minimize the risk of this potentially happening.
I love the functionality of the Chrome browser app. I can (and do) sign in on multiple apps, and love having immediate access to the interesting and useful collection of bookmarks I’ve collected over the years. My only complaint is that Chrome frequently crashes on my iPhone 7+, closing any currently open tabs. Since I use open tabs as a way to follow-up, it’s hard when they crash spontaneously.
I transferred my data from the Z Fold 3 to the 4, and now all of my Chrome shortcuts are greyed out, saying they were made on a different version of Chrome. It only gives the option to update or remove, and when I try to update, it takes me to the Play store where it is already updated to the most current version. I need this FIXED.
I’m having trouble downloading things. Also, 3 out of 4 times opening chrome, or when I’m reading something, the screen says “live viewing.” Until that notice goes away, I can’t type anything Or scroll down. When I open Chrome, my battery drains so fast. It used to last a day at least even with constant internet use. Now, I’m having to recharge my new battery every two hours or so! The speed is HORRIBLE, whether I’m using wifi or regular internet. Freezing constantly. Please fix isuues!
This is not functional! Every single time I open a tab it freezes. Try to load a video? Here’s a random crash. Can’t access half of my bookmarks. Not a single personalization feature available. Still can’t get rid of Google doodles! And replace it with something, I give a damn about like my family instead! When I scroll the screen glitches more often than not. And don’t get me started on trying to do anything incognito. It simply doesn’t work. I have tried everything at this point!
Won’t Update! Weird TikTok install stuck homepage! I can’t deal with the total lack of support and failure of the developers to fix the problems. I use to be able to use Chrome across all electronic platforms but failure to have Chrome work correctly on Android, it’s own native operating software, is driving me to finally drop the axe on using it anymore. I been hearing the new Internet Explorer alternative from Microsoft works fkawlessly like Chrome use too.
I love using this for searching the web. It allows me to have tabs open to simultaneously switch between them. Unlike Google search, where it won’t let you have tabs open. You just have to either preview the page to choose an item and or color of product, or just open the page. And have to scroll through the entire page to get back to the spot you last left off. Sigh.
So frustrating that you keep moving thing around. It took me at least 15 minutes to figure out why I couldn’t save bookmarks anymore, only to find that the option was totally relocated. I preferred the snapshots of the tabs rather than the browser address as it currently appears as well when multiple tabs are open. Please change it back and stop moving things around!
This problem has began recently and it’s consistent for the past few weeks. Anytime I try to go to my bookmarks the application freezes and I have to restart it and it won’t allow me to see my bookmarks. This has been happening for a while. I basically pressed the bookmarks and the application completely freezes and doesn’t allow me to move. I am using an Android One Plus phone. I already did all the usual restarting of the phone and reinstalling the program.
Always have been a user of Google, it’s a good browser with better results. But Google lately has had an issue. No matter what device I use, it “removes some content” and when you click the button to restore it, 30 seconds later it does it again!! Its made the browser completely unusable and has become highly annoying.
Can no longer use tab groups, so my tabs look like a 2000s bookmark list. I admit, I didn’t like it at first, but it’s made a huge positive impact. Not having the grouping, or little photo display, after YEARS of exclusively using chrome because it was awesome… I will have to find a new browser. This is terrible on my phone.
I’ve been using Chrome for a long time. I’ve noticed for the last few years, whatever I search for usually ends with the same old results. It doesn’t matter how I word the search in the search bar. It seems like there’s only a hand-full of websites to choose from now. Never a new outlet for the information I’m searching for. Even when I search for artwork, the results are the same. Same art, same doodles and nothing in depth. (Try looking for anything actually important) it’s futile.
Since the last update. It opens to Google homepage even when I have a different homepage set. Sometimes when I open it, I have to close it to get it to respond. It has become very slow and unresponsive. I will open a page and it won’t respond. Kind of annoying. I’m connected to the internet. I can use other apps no problem. This one gives me problems for some reason
Overall, Chrome isn’t terrible. I just feel the updates sometimes go backwards. I used to open separate tabs with the same site with different views. One desktop and the other not. It was what worked for me. But now if I change it in one tab, the other sites the same which is annoying, and unhelpful. I can no longer control and have to keep switching it everytime I switch tabs.
Google chrome is amazing!! Just one problem. I went to the images, clicked on a photo and scrolled down to the bottom where the button that read “see more” was. Turns out it’s not there any more. What happened to it??!! With that buttom, we were able to see more images than what we searched.
I have always used Chrome for as long as I can remember, always prefer it over anything else. That being said though, they really need to fix the Google lens it’s very inaccurate. Also some of the things that I search for in general have little to no information or I just find the same old results for it. They need to update it so that whatever you search has a broader spectrum of results/images, etc. But in all it’s been very useful to me and my family.
When twitching to tab view in landscape orientation, if the active tab is in the first or second column the list auto-scrolls to the row ABOVE the active tab. I don’t think this is intentional behavior. It’s been broken for years now. If you had a functional feedback or bug reporting method (that doesn’t work either) I would use it. Lots of other things are broken, but I only use Chrome for a couple of fossil websites that require it, so I won’t waste any more time.
Subsequent updates don’t fix common customer complaints, and are making the app even worse. Preview mode on pages ruins attempts at quick searches, because it reloads the page while you’re trying to type in the bar! Can’t turn that or Reading List off. No one wants your damn Reading List! I’ve had enough. I’m finally switching to Edge.
Latest update moved the add bookmark from the top where it’s always been to the middle on the drop down list for seemingly no reason. Additionally, they replaced it with a page downloader that I will never use outside of when I’m trying to add a bookmark and hit it accidentally due to muscle memory. It often feels like the devs make changes to core features just to mess with their users.
Latest update broke the app. Launch it, it appears, it’s like it’s all frozen, tapping on anything does nothing, force-closing & even rebooting device doesn’t help. For issues like this I really wish there was a Rollback feature. Edit: I had to “uninstall” (go back to factory install version), clear stored data, and get back up to date to get Chrome to work again. And I lost all my saved pages and bookmarks. Merry Christmas I guess… still keeping review at 1 star due to this hassle
I love Chrome, I really do… but the app is *very* lackluster in the area of UI customizability. Any options for personalization are basically non-existent; there is no way to change the placement of any of its buttons, for example, or to choose which icons (or shortcuts) are displayed at the top of the hamburger menu… or just about anything else you could think of, really. That is its biggest drawback for me; other than that, everything else is pretty great!
Not bad but missing a key basic feature. Can’t add desirable links (bookmarks) to the new tab page. I don’t want the mobile bookmarks to just be a copy of what’s in my PC either, as the phone can’t make use of many of those. Based on Google results, this has been asked for for years, and many of been driven to different browsers to get it. Also, that you can’t access the browser bar from a new tab page is laughable.
I’m gonna be honest, it is extremely inconsistent. It even feels like it regresses from time to time. At some moments tabs are ordered in the format of groups, and while reading the top search bar disappears when you scroll down, while at other times it just randomly changes to singular tabs and the search bar always stays on top, giving you less space. From what I know of, you can’t choose which you want and it’s really annoying how randomly inconsistent this app is.
Due to your recent update I no longer can create & edit bookmarks. I’m extremely annoyed by this situation. The “STAR” no longer appears when I tap on the 3 dots on the top right-hand side; only the other list of options are there. I have a screen shot in my android phone that I can send to you for your review. I would appreciate it if this matter can be fixed. Thank you.
I’ve never had problems using Chrome. I see a few reviewers saying they dislike the lack of a back button, but your phone’s back feature does it for you so I don’t see that as an issue. What I do really like is how you can group open tabs to save for later. Instead of having 60 tabs open, I only have 3 or 4 that are grouped by subject. I also enjoy the Google home feed. You can select interests & Google will suggest articles. Chrome is the best browser out there, for phones & computers alike. 😊
This latest update makes it incredibly difficult to navigate to various parts of the application. Instead of simply clicking on the top to get to maps, now the navigation at the top changes based on your search terms. It ruins the experience. It makes it so complicated to get the information that I need. Additionally, I’m noticing so many more sponsored results. Really terrible update.
I don’t really want to switch because I’ve been settled in and know the service. However, the latter becomes less and less. Constant changes to features without warnings and bugs. Can’t even do a clean install due to forced install. The app has become unattractive and undesirable to look at. Google, if you like money so much, just pay attention to the reviews and shape up.
Pretty good. Can’t play in multiple places at same time, so if I’m out listening on my phone and my kid pulls it up on the TV, mine gets paused. Wish the symbol for shuffle was more pronounced. It just goes from normal to bold. Took my old eyes a while to even catch it the first time. I also don’t like that if you select a track from your Playlist that it turns shuffle off. If you put it on shuffle and your liked list, the algorithm will finally get down to looping about 6 songs. Work on that.
Why is there no back button? Although chrome works well, it has become increasingly difficult to navigate through the application on mobile devices because of the lack of a back button. Day after day the difficulty arises and even though I have previously enjoyed the browser, I’m beginning to think of a transition to another platform. It just doesn’t make sense why you can’t move to the previous page without forcibly going to your history and searching for the page you were just on.
Chrome is my go to; always will be. I’ve tried other browsers but none can, or do, compare. The browser is not only fast but boasts other features, such as: – page preview – import/export files, bookmarks, settings, accounts , passwords… even where you left off in a book you’ve been reading. – easy access to ALL of Google’s very comprehensive programs, apps, and so-so much more… IF, by some odd set of circumstances, you have NOT used Chrome before l, then go check it out for yourself ‼️
